Slide Size = ? Aspect Ratio

Does anyone have any idea as to what aspect ratio a 1024 X 768 slide in Keynote is? I have a projector that the aspect ratio can be changed. My issue is that I don't know what size screen I need for the projector? They are available in 16:9, 1:1, and 4:1 aspect ratios. My presentation has been created in a 1024 X 768 slide size. I realize I can change that but would rather not as the 1024 X 768 slide size seems to be the best to have the type clean and visible.
Thanks in advance if you know.

You also need to know the lens zoom factor and the position of your projector. This will determine the size of the screen. The aspect ratio of the screen should be the same as the aspect ratio of the projector: Projecto 16:9 - Screen 16:9.
In terms of font size that is easy to read, that largely depends on the distance between the viewer and the screen. Rule of thumb is that the closest person shuold be 0.7 x the height of the screen (9' high screen = 6.3' to the front row of seating) and the furthest should be no more than 7 x the height of the screen (9' high screen = 63' to the last row of seating). This also depends on the content shown. So for slides with fine details (lot of small text, busy slides) maximum distance should be no more then 4 x height of the screen. 6 x for spreadhseet and up to 8 times for video and images.
Hope this helps.

  • Flash CS4, Exporting Quicktime Movie: size, aspect ratio, and alignment

    I am new to Flash so this may be a basic question, but I have not been able to find anything in the help files or the forums.
    I have tried several times to change the size of my quicktime movies, from 550 pixels by 400 pixels to 480 pixels by 480 pixels, and I cannot seem to do it. I have used "Modify > Document" and tried every option I could find through this command. Each time I export I double check that the export settings match my desired size, and they do, but when I open the movie in quicktime, it has been stretched to fit 550 x 400 pixels. The preview movie looks exactl how I want, it is only the exported movie that is incorrect.
    Is it possible to make a quicktime movie of the size I would like, or is that a standard format that cannot be adjusted?
    As a workaround, I have tried squeezing my 480x480 content into the 550x400 stage (while scaling it prportionally). but when I do this, the square of content is not centered in the background in quicktime. It is off center in the preview movie as well, and this commonly occurs after I have used "modify > document" to change the size of the document. The side to which it is aligned seems to be inconsistent.
    Is there a way to realign the video after I have modified the document size? Does changing the document size through "modify > document" affect the centering and alignment of my video? Is there a way to change it back?
    I have attached images of my videos in flash, and then what they look like after export.
    Thanks in advance for any advice.
    -Ben

    to explain a little further . . .
    the dark gray areas in my images delineate the content of the animation, and in the "550x400 after export" image, the black strip to the right is a margin showing the background color of the document, which is black. notice that there is only a margin on one side, and not both.
    Thanks some more,
    -Ben

  • Can I maintain wider aspect ratios when I import mp4 video to a slide?

    When I import mp4 video to a slide the aspect ratio changes.  It seems to go from 16:9 to 4:3. Everything looks squished.

    MP4 video always seems to have some quirk when using it with Presenter/Connect. Try converting the video to FLV and then importing it to Presenter.

  • DVR620 incorrect aspect ratio when recording DVD or VHS

    I have a DVR620KU connected to a Sony Digital LCD Bravia TV, Sony HT-CT100 Home Theater system and a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300HDC cable box.  I am using HDMI cables except for the connection from the "out" on cable box to the "in" on the DVR620.   When recording from a broadcast program or DVR'd(cable box) program, the picture on the TV while recording, and the DVD or VHS recording when played back, have letterbox like bars top and bottom and the aspect ratio for the picture is stretched.  I have tried eliminating the Home Theater system, but that doesn't help.  Other than that, things work as they are supposed to, including viewing a commercially recorded DVD.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    It does mean that the DVR620 is not the problem.
    I don't have the same cable box as yours. Mine is an Explorer 4250HDC. Even if they were same, however, I believe different cable systems will handle things differently.
    I'm on Time-Warner Cable in central NC. I have that big universal remote model URSU-8800L-TWR.
    When I press SETTINGS, I get the Settings menu. On the bottom of the screen is Quick Settings. If I press right arrow several times, I get to High Definition. The choices are AutoHD, Picture Size, Aspect Ratio, and Output Resolution. The choices for AutoHD are on/off. I'm using on.  Picture Size are Zoom, Normal, and Stretch. I am using Normal. Aspect Ratio choices are 4x3 and 16x9. I am using 4x3. Output resolution should probably be 480i for recording to the DVR620. Note that on the NBC channel currently there is letterboxing on the top and bottom. There is no distortion or stretching. I don't see a way to avoid the letterboxing.
    Part of the problem with making these changes is that they will affect all output from the cable box, so your HD signal to your TV might not be as good.

  • 2 QT files, diff aspect ratios, only one plays!!

    I have two quicktime movie files exported from my Mac-based video editing system (Avid Media Composer 2.7). They are both identical in every single way except for their frame size / aspect ratio.
    Common stats:
    Audio = 16-bit, stereo, 48 KHz
    Video = Sorenson Video 3, Millions of colors, 29.97 fps
    Data rate = both around 7840 kbits/s
    Length = 22;10
    DIFFERENCE:
    Format = Movie "AA" is 720x486. "BB" is 864x486.
    Those same measurements are under 'Normal Size' and 'Format Size' as well.
    These files were sent to a digital transfer house. The technician there said that "AA" can play on his PC system, but "BB" can't. He's using Quicktime 7. Any thoughts?
    EDIT: Tried opening them on the PC system we have here. "AA" is fine, "BB" doesn't work. It doesn't even open, get this error: "Error -2048. This file is not a movie file.".
    Both open fine on our Macs

    1. If I use it to import video from my DV cam, it always starts with a very small video size instead of the nativ video resolution (DV Pal) and always with quality set to low.
    Do you check/set the "Native Device" Preference BEFORE attempting the capture. Also, since QT capture is dependent on CPU power, would not normally recommend it as your primary means of video capture.
    3. If I export an avi file from QT, the file is useless (with QT or any other app) untill I doctor it with ffmpegX or D-Vision.
    AVI files may contain any number of audio/video compression formats including muxed and MP3/MPEG layer-3 not supported in QT without installation of the appropriate third party proprietary codecs.
    4. If I encode a video with the H264 codec no other app than QT (e.g. VLC) can playback the file. (If I use ffmpegX and encode a video with H264 I can playback it with all apps).
    There are three distinct work flows which will create H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) files. Which one are you using and for what are you targeting the output?
    WHY??? QT should be the link between all video processing programs - but it's completely useless because it's so buggy!
    QT is a simple control head utility for playback which, when properly registered, allows elementary editing of compatible frame-to-frame synchronized files by direct access/manipulation of the system's QT Tools package.
    1. Is there another app to capture/import video data from DV cams
    Check out the free "Vidi" utility at http://mitzpettel.com/software/vidi.php to see if it might meet your needs.
    2. Does QT only work with NTSC resolutions when dealing with interlaced video? Or is there an option somewhere to force it to keep the material interlaced?
    May be "Video Source" preference dependent. Don't have a PAL camera, so the question never came up in my testing.

  • What Sequence Setting for 4:3 Aspect Ratio?

    Just moved up from FCE to FCS2. Do commercials for small market cable and broadcast in SD 4:3 in FCE. Now in FCP I see a sequence setting for Frame Size Aspect Ratio NTSC DV that shows 3:2 aspect. Not really clear on what this is and after pouring through the manuals and searching this forum, still don't get it.
    In the end, I want normal SD 4:3 TV commercials. In FCE, it was a simple NTSC setting. Does my sequence in FCP need to be 4:3 or 3:2? Need a little education on this and can't find any explanation anywhere.
    Thanks for the help.

    What format is your source? I would never export out of FCP in that manner to achieve a frame rate conversion.
    There are a couple of ways to change your footage from 23.98 to 29.97. The easiest I feel, is to select all the clips in your 23.98 sequence using CMD+A. Then copy (CMD+C),create a new 29.97 sequence and paste (CMD+V) those clips into your new sequence. Render and export a Quicktime Movie, Self-Contained.
    However, I'm curious if you're shooting in HD based on your 23.98 frame rate. If you are, then you should be using a better SD sequence than DV which is 4:1:1 color sub-sampling. You may be throwing away half of your color information by working in that format.
    Andy
    Andy:
    Using your method of copy/paste to a new 29.98 sequence solved the problem. Thanks.
    What I had done to try out the new features in FCP vs. FCE was to create a 23.98 timeline (since I am shooting in SD 24pa with a DVX100A), add a Motion Master Template, add a few jpg's to the drop zones, add 3 NTSC-formatted jpg's to the end for the logos, add a Soundtrack music bed.
    For future commercials, will likely be shooting 24pa footage, so wanted to figure out working in a 23.98 sequence. Just had not understood how to get it back to 29.98 for the cable company and broadcast stations. Your advice (copy to new sequence) makes it simple. Hopefully based on this info, I am still on the right track to accomplish my goal. I want to get the 24p look for some clients, but deliver the finished spots via upload to the stations' servers in a QT MOV.
    If you have any other advice that would improve things, ready, willing and able to listen. Been Mac-ing since Mac Plus days, but new to FCP. Made the switch from Express with the access to 24p shooting. Thanks.

  • Can I change the size of my enhanced Podcast or correct the aspect ratio

    I would like to be able to embed pictures in a Podcast that are 480x360. As a worst case, I would like them to be 320x240. Is this possible?
    When I open my .m4a or .m4b in QuickTime I see that I can adjust the aspect ratio or size. However, as far as I can determine, QuickTime will not let me save the change unless I save into a format other than m4a or m4b.
    Saving as a mov eliminates the chapter control which I want to keep.
    Does anyone know of a way to fix this limitation?
    I'd accept 480x480 if that were possible too!
    Thanks!

    Follow up information:
    The aspect ratio appears correct in a video iPod or via the iTunes interface. However, if the same file is played via QuickTime then the aspect ratio is forced to a square.
    The overall intent is to view the enhanced PodCast full screen which can be done via QuickTime. The "Now Playing" window in iTunes is too small (Clicking on it to bring up the current slide does not work as the slide is not updated concurrently with the "Now Playing" window.

  • Wrong aspect ratio or size when exporting Pal anamorph with ProRes codec!

    Hi community,
    I have a problem exporting a spot in the right format. The customer/the upload service provider needs PAL anamorph 16:9 in ProRes codec.
    When I export my FULLHD spot to these setting, the aspect ratio/the spot size turns out wrong. When opened in QT Pro the size is 720x576, what is correct, but the anamorph size quotet in brackets reads different values, for example 1020x576 but never 1024x576, what would be correct.
    The service providers online software refuses to work with these wrong nunmbers...!?
    The same export settings with QT Animation codec is correct. Also when exporting the same composition with two export modules, the Animation codec is OK, the ProRes codec is wrong. No matter whether I export a PAL-format comp or stretch it while exporting the FullHD comp.
    Working with After Effects CC.
    Any ideas?

    Don't resize the output but instead drop your full HD comp in a standard PAL widescreen comp, fit the HD comp horizontally and then render the new comp without using any resize controls.
    Second option, Render your full HD comp to a frame based production master codec (prorez) and then use the Adobe Media Encoder and setup a PAL Widescreen Square Pixel preset. Here's my Pal Widescreen Prorez 422 HQ preset. It is what I use for all requests for Pal ProRez from my clients.

  • Is there any way for Keynote to create slides in a 16:9 (HD) aspect ratio?

    I have a mixed media presentation going through an LCD projector. the video content is 16:9. Can Keynote create a 16:9 aspect ratio presentation or am I out of luck (until that feature is added)?

    Hi Tulse,
    I have just switched to Mac and I'm going through the learning curve. I am trying to make a poster in Keynote and need help properly sizing it. I went to the document inspector and tried to set a custom file size. The problem is that when I calculated the number of pixels at 300 dpi for a 36x24 or 48x36 inch poster, Keynote would not accept that high of a number. I know there is probably a simple solution, because I know that Keynote is able to do something as simple as this!
    Please help!

  • Everytime I open itunes the cover flow size returns to default. How Can I lock the aspect ratio?

    Whenever I shut down my computer and restart it, the aspect ratio of the images in itunes coverflow reset to their default size. How can I keep them where I set them.

    I have an issue somewhat like that, except it doesn't happen when I shut down or restart my computer. Mine resets each time I click the green resize button (using an iMac) to minimize iTunes to the mini player. Oddly enough, if I resize the cover flow, switch to a different view (ie. library without cover flow) and then hit the resize button to switch to mini player, upon maximizing iTunes again, I can switch back to the cover flow and it will have stayed the same size. Obviously I'm not going to go through that process each time I want to minimize iTunes to mini player, but when I simply minimize it when in cover flow view, as you mentioned in your post, it resets the aspect ratio each time. Clearly this isn't a massive issue as I'm still able to use all the other functions of iTunes perfectly fine, but I have to admit it is very annoying and has been persistent for the last few hours. Please if you've found a fix let me know, however I noticed you are using Windows 7 so we likely have two completely different issues.

  • Preserve aspect ratio of JPanel size within JApplet

    Hi, currently, I have a JPanel component, which will be placed at the center of JApplet (This JApplet is BorderLayout).
    I wish to preserve the aspect ratio of the JPanel to square (width equal to height) even when the JApplet size is changed.

            this.getContentPane().add(new NewJPanel(), BorderLayout.CENTER);

  • Way to keep original size and aspect ratio?

    I've got 3 clips (from Snapz 2) I've created for a video tutorial at 507x196 and I'd like to use iMovie to put it all together. The problem is iMovie appears to only allow 3 aspect ratios which clips out both sides and then resizes it to fit, which isn't what I need. Is there any way to keep the original aspect/size as the clip? or a suggestion for a Mac app (free or low cost) that does?
    Thanks!
    Dan

    iMovie assumes you want to output for TV or iPhone so you are limited to 16:9. 4:3, or 3:2.
    With QuickTime Pro version 7, you can choose any dimensions you need. It costs about $30. You can get it online from Apple.

  • ATV3 Different subtitle size according movie aspect ratio

    Hi guys,
    im getting different soft subtitle size according the aspect ratio (lettered and non-lettered) the size must be the same independently of the movie aspect, take a look the following images there are a huge difference:
    Note: The subtitle configuration are the same for the two screenshots.
    Non-lettered:
    Lettered:
    Its any way to solve that, im currently running the version 7.2 of ATV
    thks !!!

    Ok, I figured it out...
    First, you need to register for the MPMovieNaturalSizeAvailableNotification. I put this in viewDidLoad.
    [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self
    selector:@selector(movieNaturalSizeAvailable:)
    name:MPMovieNaturalSizeAvailableNotification
    object:moviePlayerController];
    Then, you create the @selector function:
    - (void) movieNaturalSizeAvailable:(NSNotification *)movieNSNotification {
    NSLog(@"MovieNaturalSizeAvaiable");
    NSLog(@"Movie width is %f and movie height is %f", moviePlayerController.naturalSize.width, moviePlayerController.naturalSize.height);
    //calculate the aspect ratio
    float width = moviePlayerController.naturalSize.width;
    float height = moviePlayerController.naturalSize.height;
    float ratio = width / height;
    NSLog(@"ratio is %f", ratio);
    //if ratio < 1.4 then it must be 4:3 aspect ratio, else it is 16:9
    if (ratio < 1.4) {
    moviePlayerController.view.frame = CGRectMake(66, 29, 347, 260);
    imageView.frame = CGRectMake(66, 29, 347, 260);
    } else {
    moviePlayerController.view.frame = imageFrame;
    imageView.frame = CGRectMake(9, 29, 462, 260);
    moviePlayerController = [movieNSNotification object];
    [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self
    name:MPMovieNaturalSizeAvailableNotification
    object:moviePlayerController];

  • Can you lock aspect ratio, define border and image size with automated BatchCropStraighten?

    Hello everybody,
    I need to crop and straighten a load of scanned rectangular stamps that will start as a single scanned image, and I want to lock the aspect ratio to 1:1, define the top border size (such that the the borders on the sides will be bigger than those top and bottom) and specify the output image size.
    Does anybody know if this is possible using the automates BatchCropStraighten function?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    I know of no BatchCropStraighten feature in Photoshop.  Photoshop has a Plugin CropPhotosAuto that you access through menu File>Automate>Crop and Straighten Photos.
    On my windows system its "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Required\Plug-Ins\Automate\CropPhotosAuto.8li". This plug-in is designed to help you scan several image with a single scan. All the plug-in does is to look at the current active document looking for what appears to be a scanned image and to create an additional document that contain a straighten version of the image the size of the image. No files are created nothing is saved only one document is processed even if you had several scans open in Photoshop.  When the Plug-in ends the current active document is the last document the plugin created.
    You may be able to program a Photoshop script that would fit the create documents to some size then add canvas that would make all the documents have the same Aspect ratio and size. The borders added would be equally sizes on opposite sides top and bottom the same left and right the same.  However the image aspect ration inside the borders may vary.
    I created a fake scan with five simulated images. Not straight and not all rectangles  and duped the document so two would be open the used File>Automate>Crop and Straighten Photos when the process finished I spread out the document so you could see all that are open in this screen capture.

  • Need help changing size and aspect ratio for 500+ images

    Thank you for reading this! I have about 500 images of people in different poses. They're all extracted on a transparency as PNGs. They vary in aspect ratio, dimensions and position of the person within the frame - for some the feet are very close to the bottom of the frame and for some, they're higher up. I need to equalize all 3 of these qualities, so that if superimposed, they look like a video unfolding with the same zoom. My ideal size would be 800x800 at 300ppi.
    Is there a way to batch even a part of the process and keep the png format? I had the images in PSD initially but they were too massive so creating catalogs with them was prohibitive.
    If not possible to do a batch, what would be the best (easiest) and fastest way to do it? I'm thinking that maybe creating some template where an oval shape the size of the head can help create consistency of the size of the person and a line that helps set up the distance from the bottom?
    I so appreciate any help you have to offer. Part of my problem is that I don't know what these processes are called so I don't even know what to search for. If you can even name the actions that I need, it would be of great help. I already paid a designer to do the extraction and they were supposed to do this formatting as well and they didn't so my budget is shot. I'm hoping that if I understand what the steps are, I can do them myself.
    Thank you!

    If you download my crafting actions package you can record an action that uses one of my plug-in scripts to do that process. You could then batch that action and process your 500 png image files.
