Slide size on std TV

The slides in my slideshow are larger than than the 32" screen on my TV therefore the slide description and in some cases part of the top of the slide extends past the top of the screen. How can I resize the pictures in my slideshow to show properly on the TV?

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • Change slide size in 2 slide/page layout?

Several folks indicated that you can use the "layout" view to produce a handout with 2 slides per page. But there is still quite a bit of white space. How can you increase the slide size on the page to make them bigger? Also, is there a way to add page numbers to the page (I already have slide numbers).

    Rocketscience,
    welcome to the Keynote Discussions.
Well, I think the border around the two slides I print is just enough to punch and file the paper.
Oh, wait, I'm using [DIN] A4 format. Well, try this:
    * In the print dialog choose Layout from the "Copies & Pages"
dropdown box and set "Pages per Sheet" to 2
(you know that but I repeat it for other readers)
    * Choose Paper Handling from the same dropdown box and mark
"Scale to fit paper size:". Select A4 from the corresponding
dropdown box (yes, even if you don't use A4 format). Unmark
    "Scale down only".
    * Print you slides.
There's no possibility to add page (sheet) numbers in the print dialog. You could prepare a file in Keynote or Pages that only prints a page number and print these numbers in a second run on you handouts. Not very elegant but maybe better than to paginate with a counter

  • Slide Size Mysteriously Changed

    Hi,
I was working on a slide presentation and all of a sudden I noticed in Navigotor mode the thumbnail pictures of the top 2 slides were scrambled and undistinguishable. Then I noticed that the thumbnails seemed smaller for some reason and wondered if I just imagining it. Then, once I closed the document, chose not to save it, reopened... there was a left and right strip of white or "blank" margin on both sides of all of my slides and of the navigator thumbnail pictures were a little smaller in addition to the additional white margins that made them even smaller.
I first went to my "Document Inspector" and wanted to see if I could figure out what might have changed with the slide size but didn't see anything that might cause this to happen.
Is it possible my file became corrupted somehow and now I have to rebuild my whole presentation to remove the white borders and restore proper size to my presentation?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Steve

The file is acting as if the slide resolutions were inadvertently increased. This may be a symptom of corruption. You should be able to copy the information off of the slides, but I'm not sure there is a single fix to remedy the situation. Any material that is based on an object on the slide Masters (such as the title box and body box) can be changed across the entire presentation by changing those items in the relevant Masters. Perhaps someone else has run across this and has better advice for recovery.

  • Slide size and cropping

If I produce a presentation based on my standard screen resolution (1680 by 1050) and then use a projector which as I understand is 4:3 proportion how is the screen/slide cropped? If I set my slide size to 1200 by 900 then I can see what will happen. But what if my slide size is say 1680 x 1050? Will the slide get squashed or cropped? Or will the black screen area surrounding the slide change width?
    Thanks

Your projector will be 1024x768 (probably). Use that to set up your slideshow when you program it, AND crop your pix to the right pixel dimensions. That way your processor has to do as little as possible when you present, and the effects are as fast and smooth as possible. On your laptop, it will fill the height of the screen and crop the sides. (Set it in the prefs). It will be sharper on the projector than on the laptop, 'cos the projector is working at its native resolution, but the laptop is resampling.

  • Slide Size = ? Aspect Ratio

Does anyone have any idea as to what aspect ratio a 1024 X 768 slide in Keynote is? I have a projector that the aspect ratio can be changed. My issue is that I don't know what size screen I need for the projector? They are available in 16:9, 1:1, and 4:1 aspect ratios. My presentation has been created in a 1024 X 768 slide size. I realize I can change that but would rather not as the 1024 X 768 slide size seems to be the best to have the type clean and visible.
Thanks in advance if you know.

You also need to know the lens zoom factor and the position of your projector. This will determine the size of the screen. The aspect ratio of the screen should be the same as the aspect ratio of the projector: Projecto 16:9 - Screen 16:9.
In terms of font size that is easy to read, that largely depends on the distance between the viewer and the screen. Rule of thumb is that the closest person shuold be 0.7 x the height of the screen (9' high screen = 6.3' to the front row of seating) and the furthest should be no more than 7 x the height of the screen (9' high screen = 63' to the last row of seating). This also depends on the content shown. So for slides with fine details (lot of small text, busy slides) maximum distance should be no more then 4 x height of the screen. 6 x for spreadhseet and up to 8 times for video and images.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT2925 Change slide size iPad version?

Is their a way to change the exported slide size in keyNote on the iPad version?

Are you bringing in anything from a PowerPoint presentation?
Not sure what's causing it, but one thing you could do to try to highlight the problem is LOCK the file. This way, anytime you try to change it, you'll get a window popping up telling that you can't and that will help you determine at what point the file is being changed.
Save off an original and compare it after a few days to see what the differences are.

  • Slide size change when clicking on pdf links (Acrobat 9 pro)

    Hello,
I have a problem with an interface mock up I have to deliver to a client.
The size of image is changing from a slide to another.
For example, when I click on a home button (this button is a link made in acrobat pro, that send to another page of the pdf document), the slide size changes from full screen to a smaller size with a black border around.
SOrry it's hard to explain, so I put 2 screenshots and hope it will be clear enough >
This happen only if I use clicks on the links.
If I just use the next / previous command (for example if I use keyboard's arrows), the size remain full screen and unchanged for the whole slides.
Can you tell me how to fix this problem?
    Best regards,
    Mega

    Something to try.
Using the link tool select the link.
    View the link's properties.
    Select the Actions tab.
Select the show action then click the Edit button.
    Observe what is displayed.
You'll note that you can configure the value for "zoom".
    Be well...

  • Using keynote in ibooks author do you set slide size to 2048x1536

For my second book I want to use the keynote widgit. If I set the slide size to 2048x1536 will that be ok for the ipad 2 and origanal ipad in addition to the new ipad? Also, when you initially bring an image (jpg) into keynote that will eventually be for import into ibooks author should it be resized to 2048x1536 just as we do when bringing one directly into ibooks author. I am using keynote 5.1.1.

  • Maximum Slide Size

Anyone know if Keynote has a maximum slide size? I'm trying to create a Keynote presentation with a slide size of 4272X1080 and it won't seem to let me put that size in the custom slide settings. I've tried different sizes, but anything above 4000 gives me the error tone. Anyone else had luck entering a larger size? I'm wondering if 4000 may be the max Keynote will allow.

4000 is the max for Keynote.

  • Is there a way to adjust a slide size beyond what the presets are?

You know how different templates have different sizes maxes, such as in these examples:
Well is there a way to make a smaller template, larger? A lot of the templates that I'd really like to use in my project, are just too small.

Yes, in the Document pane of the inspector, towards the bottom, you'll see "Slide Size" click the button next to it and choose "Custom slide size..."
Now, when you put in this new size, and it stretches your graphics larger, they may not look as nice as you want, but that's how you change the size.

  • Changing the slide size

I am trying to do a presentation in 11x17, I went into "page setup" and changed the size, but its still the standard 81/2 x 11... Is there something else that I'm supoosed to be doing???
    thanks

Can you clarify what you want to do? Paper sizes are not how on-screen presentation dimensions are measured -- presentations are determined by pixel dimensions, which are set in the Document Inspector, in the Slide Size dropdown menu. Changing the Page Setup dimensions will change the paper size that the slides are printed on, but won't change the projected size.

  • Scale content when changing slide size

If I resize my keynote slide size to a different aspect ratio, is there a way to have it scale all the content?
I have hundreds of Illustrator files that I have imported into keynote (by drag/drop and it seems to rasterized the image). Making the slide size taller makes the background show through above and below my images. It would be nice if I didn't have to select and scale each individual image using the inspector. I realize the image will "stretch".
I did read someone's suggestion to batch the files in photoshop and resize them all, then re-import them all, but it would make a new presentation and I would lose all my notes and transitions.
    thanks

This is an issue happening on your Mac, it is not a common problem, in fact Keynote has never crashed on my system since installing.
Try the following repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • 3 by 1 slide size

I would like to have my slide 3 times as wide as it is high. There is not a custom size setting and no 3 by 1 equivalent in my options when starting a new slide show. How do I do this?

After you create a slide show, in the Document Inspector, under the Slide Size popup, select "Custom Slide Size…" and enter your desired slide size.

  • Keynote Slide Size

I used to create images in Photoshop in 1024x768 then drag them to Keynote which was set up as 1024x768px size slides. Now, with 6.1, I don't see a way to customize my slides in pixel format. Am I missing something?

The 6.1 version of KN does NOT support a pixel size image
I have to be blunt; this is nonsense. The unit of measurement in Keynote is pixels, the final product is a file that calculates pixels, and what can be seen on screen is pixels.
Did you know that point is a measurement of the height of a letter press type, nothing to do with graphic shapes? Photoshop uses point size so that type can be placed in proportion correctly.
    In Keynote, this is all easily confirmed;
A 1 Point screen size is interpreted as requiring 1.333 pixels (this is an agreed international standard)
type in the value 800 x 800 in the slide size window in Keynote, export to TIFF and an exact 800 x 800 pixel image is created.
Therefore if Keynote measured in points, the image would export as 600 x 600 pixels.
You can if you wish use points in Photoshop, just remember to recalculate the values by 1.333
I repeat again, if you compose your images in Photoshop, input pixels and set to dpi to 72 and all images will import full screen and centered.
