Slide to answer

i am having a strange issue. Most of the timewhen i get a call the phone dispays just the "slide to answer" option for answering calls. Looks like the "slide to unluck" slider that you get when unlocking the phone It does not give me the decline call option. anyone else having this issue. it seems to be happening more and more. is there a setting i turned on or something? anyone else having this problem

You only get the answer/decline screen if you are using the iPhone. If the iPhone is asleep, then it gives you the slide to answer (to keep you from accidentally answering it). As the previous poster said, if you click the sleep button once, it silences the ringer. Click it twice and it sends the caller to your voicemail.

When you said you have no fax machines on your line, that does include computers directly connected to the phone line?
The reason that I ask is a computer with a dial-up modem (a non broadband modem) that can connect to your phone line, can have software that makes the computer act as a fax machine.

Stuck "Slide to Answer"

At least once a day, with seemingly no pattern to it, the "Slide To Answer" does not work at all or it only moves halfway, thus making it impossible to answer my call.
I have read of some others with this problem, but thus far no solutions. (I have tried rebooting and no, I do not have lotion on my hands.)
I suspected it might be a hardware issue (as some have suggested), but now I know it's not because, as of last week, I replaced my 3GS with a iPhone 4 and the problem still persists! Obviously that leads me to believe it's a software/app problem, but I don't have a clue with what. I started fresh with my new iPhone (in other words, it's not just from a backup) and tried to load programs one by one, but it's difficult to judge since the problem is so sporadic.
ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!

I have had this problem with my 3GS and now my new iPhone4. Very intermittent and a pain in the backside. There seems to be many other users with the same problem but no solution.

Is there a way to replace slide to answer with a button? It is particularly difficult to answer calls using only 1 hand.

HOW TO REPLACE SAFARI BOOKMARKS IN ICLOUD
Turn off iCloud for Safari on all devices including the Mac that will be used to house the bookmarks you want to keep. On your iDevices, if it asks to delete bookmarks, choose YES.
On the Mac, clean up bookmarks using the Edit feature. When finished, copy (do not move) the bookmarks file in the Safari folder in the library (Bookmarks.plist) to a safe location. You will be copying the file back shortly.
Turn on iCloud for Safari on the Mac only. Now manually delete all the bookmarks. This will make iCloud “think” you want these changes to be stored in iCloud and because the other iDevices are have iCloud turned off, they won’t keep “feeding” iCloud with your “old” bookmarks. When you are done, there are now there are no more bookmarks stored in iCloud.
You may want to also manually delete any bookmarks from the Favorites Bar also so that everything is cleaned out.
Now turn off iCloud for Safari on the Mac.
Copy your cleaned up Bookmarks.plist back into the library.
Turn on iCloud for Safari on the Mac.
Your cleaned up bookmarks will now load into iCloud.
When everything looks good, turn iCloud for Safari back on in your iDevices.

When we miss a call, the "Slide to Unlock" doesn't respond to touch. The only way out is to have someone call your iphone and then "Slide to Answer" will respond and once u end the call it will start responding to "Slide to Unlock" this started happening

In your first post you mention you have done a reset and a restore. Those are the last two processes in the user troubleshooting. If those do not work, then the last thing is to go to the Genius Bar. You say you went to Apple and they opened the phone and re-seated the connectors? That sounds unusual, because if there was a hardware issue,they would replace the hardware. You say you cannot get a replacement, is that because you are out of warranty? An out of warranty replacement is only $199 plus tax. It seems to me since you mention the fact you need to press hard to get the screen to react there is something going on with the hardware. If this problem has been going on for over a year, have you been reporting this to Apple. You say you cannot get a replacement and you are on the second phone, I wonder why they are denying you a replacement. Is there something you are not telling us??

What happened to the "DECLINE" button for incoming calls? All I get is Remind Me, Message and Slide to Answer. Where is the RED DECLINE button?

@gkovach - Have you tried resetting your phone, Hold both Home and Power buttons down until the Apple logo appears and wait for phone to reset itself.
If this doesn't help you can try resetting all settings, Settings => General => Reset => Reset All Settings. You won't lose any apps, data, music, photos, etc. But you will have to go back in and reset all the setting that you changed from the factory defaults.

Slide to unlock not working but I can slide to answer calls (power button broken) HELP!

Can anyone please help? 24 hours before my upgrade is due and my iPhone 5 has decided it won't let me slide to unlock...I can slide to answer a call no problem weirdly so Im thinking it isn't a fault with that part of the screen? My problem is compounded by the fact that the power on/off button hasn't worked in a while. this hasn't been a major issue until i am now trying to at least back up and then restore my phone. I can't enter the passcode to restore it! And i can't try lots of the suggestions I've seen which is holding the home and power button together as my power button doesn't work. I can't even sell the phone as faulty at the moment as i have no way of getting all my data off it!

Take the device to Apple to address the hardware issue.

6760 Slide auto answer - how to stop

I have a 6760 slide phone in a pouch on my belt. It automatically answers a call when I remove the phone from the pouch. I am positive that I am not hitting any keys when removing the phone from the pouch, and I have AnyKey answer off in settings. As far as I can see it can only be the motion detector, or the light sensor automatically answering the call. This is extremely frustrating as I do not get to decide whether to silence the call. I have looked extensively on the Internet, in the manual and in the phone settings but can not stop this happing. Any help greatly appreciated.

Its been some time now and I have not received any feedback to this post and I'm still having the same issue. To clarify my earlier post, my phone is answering the call without me hitting any buttons or opening the slide, it answers by picking it up out of the pouch to look at the screen. Further to the original post I have now reinstalled the latest firmware with Nokia Software Updater, three times, with no change. I have also noticed that where I have 'sensor settings' off and 'turning control - snoozing alarms' unchecked, picking up the phone for an alarm snoozes the alarm. Also when I pull my phone out of the pouch, the phone turns off the automatic keyguard, there is no way the button combination is getting pressed removing the phone from the pouch. I can not believe that I am the only person having these problems with this model. I flat out hate Nokia and would never buy one of their phones in a million years, but unfortunately I am given a phone through work and have no choice in the selection. Does anyone know how to go back to a previous revision firmware, the updater only gives you the option to upgrade to the latest version.

To address this issue, I would suggest you close all open apps, then restart and reset your iPhone. Here's how:

If the issue persists, Reset All Settings on the iPhone. This information can be found in the iPhone User Guide:

Reset iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose

Slide To Answer not always working

Over the past 3 or 4 days my "Slide to Answer" slider has been rather delayed. Today though it has been pretty much unresponsive when someone calls in. I did a restart on the old iPhone. We'll see if that helps.

thank you for the tip..it really did work for me..but i do have some more issues with my iphone which does ****** me off at times..
well,whenever i surf the internet or listen to a music then the program automatically stops and goes to the main menu..it has happened regularly and i dont knw what to do.
i do hope that my iphone would be fine after the tip that u suggested but it feels pretty sad when a 699$ phone juss doesnt give u the satisfaction its supposed to give to its customer..that's when u start regretting that why you bought the iphone n stuffs...
oh yes..i did also tried downloading podcasts but it doesnt upload to my iphone and i get the message in itunes saying that the video (isnt capabale ofplaying in my iphone!!)i dont knw what does that mean...why do they have stuffs that doesnt even work..

Unable to slide to answer when call comes in?

Does this issue happens to iPhone 4 or all other generations of iPhone? I'm unable to slide to answer my phone calls at least 60% of the time and i have to try multiple times to slide which doesn't sometimes doesn't stick to my sliding??? Is there any suggestions or solutions to this? Sorry if this has been posted before.

A probably similar problem occurs sometimes on my own iPhone 4 and on my wife's iPhone 4.
When a call comes in, "slide to accept" does not work properly. It can be moved half-way across the screen but then it snaps back. Then I try to slide it again and again and eventually it works, before the call is lost. For me, this problem only occurs about 5% of the time (probably less often on my wife's iPhone), and I remember that it happened also sometimes with my old iPhone 3gs. This is very annoying.

Slide To Answer Craziness

I have a weird issue with my iPhone 3G where one specific incoming number (my house) makes the phone unable to use Slide to Answer, and I instead have to hit the home button to answer the call. The slide will not move at all when this call comes in. I have searched everywhere for an answer and have been unable to find one. Thanks for any assistance!

Meatlocker... I experienced the exact same issue last week and still on occasion. At least twice it seemed to be from a family member when this occurred and another 2-3 times I don't believe from a family member or from my home? Good to know I wasn't imagining anything... "I mean, the slide to unlock the iPhone would not budge after 4 attempts to access the incoming call..."

3G dropping calls when i slide to answer?

my dad's 3G has been dropping his received calls when he slides to answer them. this happens about 60% of the time. any ideas on what the problem could be? any help would be appreciated. we both got our 3G's at the same time and with the same carrier. i haven't experienced anything wrong with mine.

so far all i've done is reset all settings. it's hard to test whether the problem has been rectified because it occurs 50-60% of the time. but i tested it by calling with the house phone and also from my phone and it worked fine. so i'm just trying to get some info/tips incase it's still a problem tomorrow. also the phone is less than a month old :s

Why does 'slide to answer' not work all the time on iPhone 4

I've have a iPhone 4 and I've always had this problem. I always keep my phone up to date. The issue is the 'slide to answer' button is incredibly unreliable causing me at times to miss calls because it doesn't work. Just now my phone was ringing and the 'slide to answer' was totally unresponsive until I pressed the home button, then I had to try sliding it a few times before it successfully answered.
This last weekend my dad rang me and I couldn't answer the call; the 'slide to answer' button was happy to move precisely half way along before automatically springing back again even though I hadn't taken my finger off it.
What's wrong with it? Its not that long ago since I last restored my phone afresh and yet it's still a problem.
Has anyone got any idea how to fix it?

There are 3 things you can try.
Hard reset -Hold home and power button until apple logo is displayed -Release let device reboot -test it out.
If issue persists -go to Settings>gerneral>reset>reset all settings -test.
Issue persisting still??
Last but not least restore and setup as new, this will erase EVERYTHING make sure contacts/calendars are in the iCloud or synced in windows Contacts/Addressbook/outlook, or Addressbook on a mac, and Calendars in Outlook, or iCal
make sure to transfer your purchases, in iTunes windows or mac - File at top left - Transfer purchases.
Transfer photos via iPhoto, windows scanner camera wizard, or Windows Photo Gallery
then follow http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
