Slide to power off bar keeps appearing
The slide to poweroff bar keeps appearing. Somwtimes screen goes blank and have to turn on again.
on ocassions when turned on it makes the click sound of taking photos.
Have restored but problem persists. Please help.
Welcome to the discussions,
did you use your backup after the restore to get your data back? If yes, try to restore "as new iphone" to make sure no corrupt data is copied back to the phone after the firmware has been installed again.

"slide to power off" notice keeps appearing
iPad Mini: "Slide to power off" notice keeps appearing. Fully charged. Restored to original settings and then restored from backup ok.
How do I get this notice to stop popping up, please?
Thx.
DanProblem solved.
Turns out that evidently the iPad Mini was dropped and the clear shell case for the back came off. It must have been put back on backwards so the On/Off Sleep/Wake button was being pressed by the case when held tightly... causing the "Slide to Power Off" message to show. This was discovered when the Smart Cover wouldn't stand the unit properly... But.. only after I guessed the Smart Cover was broken and I bought a new Smart Cover. The new red Smart cover didn't work any better than the previous blue one. Soooooo... I looked carefully at the unit and found that the clear back had been put on backwards!
Now, how do I turn this into a positive "teaching moment" with my spouse? Or, maybe after 53 years of marriage I'll just take credit for fixing it and getting her a beautiful new red cover!
Thanks for your help.

Since we upgraded my husband's 4s to ios 6.0 the "slide to power off" does not appear when he tries to power his iphone 4s off.
Are you saying that when you hold the sleep button for a while the slider to turn off does not appear?

ny ipod touch keeps bringing up the slide to power off screen and locking randomly. I have no clue why this started happening. It was working fine minutes earlier and it didn't get wet or dropped nothing. help please.
Try #1, 2 and 3 in link below. If it does not help, you may have an issue with your Sleep/Wake switch.

How can I reboot my Touch when the screen is frozen and I cannot use the "slide to power off" feature?
Next try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Screen flashes black and then shows slide to power off
While playing music the screen repeatedly flashes to black then flashes to the slide to power off screen. When I tap cancel it usually works for a few min before doing it again but sometimes it flashes between the black screen and the itunes screen several times before showing the slide to power off screen.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Wont power off or slide to power off
Ipad 2 will not power off holing down off button- screen pops up to slide to power off and wont allow
"Won't allow?" What happens when you slide?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes." -
my ipad 2 is 16G 3G,
yesterday, i update my ipad 2 via itunes from 4.3.5 to 5.1 then i can't "slide to power off", it just restart to operate.
then i use a clean desktop to update, it still happen...
anyone can help me....I understand what the problem is. Did you try to reset the iPad? After you reset it you should be able to power the device off completely.
If you tried the reset and you still cannot use the slide to power off, then you have another issue. But you have to try the reset, hold down both buttons - wait for the apple logo to appear on the screen - let go of th buttons and let the iPad restart completely - then try to power off.
Did you do all of that? -
I just received a iPod Touch 5th generation for xmas and it acts like it is locked, when you slide the slider it says unlock button and nothing happens. Can't slide the power off either. - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
Best of luck,
