Slide to power off won't work
Trying to do a recovery on an iPod touch but when i go to slide the power bar off it goes back to the start every time. The slide gets all the way to the end and when its at about 80% it stops and goes back to the beginning. It is locked in disabled mode it is my cousins sons ipod and I am trying to help them out. Anyway around this I want to wipe the memory and get this thing working.
Thank you for your help
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

My daughters 4s has frozen. Displays the 'slide to unlock' message but is unresponsive.
Online help says resart device but I can't power off as the slide function does not work.
Any ideas??
Thanks.Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Message about iCloud backup and it won't clear. It also won't allow the iPad to do anything else. It is plugged in and now locked. The slides to open iPad and the one to power off do not work. I have the iPad plugged in and have pressed ok on the message numerous times.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try restarting the iPad and seeing if that helps.
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again. -
my iphone 4s is frozen on the lock screen. my lock button doesnt work and i cant slide to power off the phone. It has 100% battery and nothing happens when i plug it into the computer.
My phone screen also is in negative. It is like twitching and ive tried to invert the colors but thats not it. i cant see any apps, pictures , or anything in regular colors. PLEASE HELPPP!You can't. You'll have to wait until the battery runs out and then recharge the phone. It will restart.
Sounds like now's a good time to get the phone fixed. -
Wont power off or slide to power off
Ipad 2 will not power off holing down off button- screen pops up to slide to power off and wont allow
"Won't allow?" What happens when you slide?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes." -
The lock screen on my IPad zoomed in on itself. It is zoomed in so far that I can't unlock it, and I can't see the 'slide to power off' option. I've tried to reset it numerous times. Any suggestions? Help please!
Try double tapping the screen with three fingers to return to normal size. If it works go to settings> general> accessibility> zoom> off.

Screen flashes black and then shows slide to power off
While playing music the screen repeatedly flashes to black then flashes to the slide to power off screen. When I tap cancel it usually works for a few min before doing it again but sometimes it flashes between the black screen and the itunes screen several times before showing the slide to power off screen.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

i want to turn my macbook air off. the shut down button already appeared but the mouse/cursor just hang and won't work. even after pressing the enter button to shut my mac off won't work. what will i do?
This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%
Activity Monitor 0.9%
Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6. -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

As of late, my power button is acting weird. Either when you press the power button it won't turn on.. or it will.. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't..
To get it to turn off if the power button won't work, I'll just drain the battery. Anybody know anything to help? That's a hardware problem. Apple doesn't repair it. If there is no sign of abuse (don't try to fix it yourself), they replace it with a refurbished unit. The fixed-price for non-warranty replacements can be found here.

Iphone slide to power off frequently
Hi every one.
my iphone keep prompting slide to power off automatically and the power off button also not working . is anyone facing same issues . is there anyway to get rid of this issuesStrangely, I have the exact same problem, it started yesterday too. I've reinstalled the firmware and it was doing the same thing before I even restored from backup.
No warranty and not even an Apple Service Centre here -
"slide to power off" notice keeps appearing
iPad Mini: "Slide to power off" notice keeps appearing. Fully charged. Restored to original settings and then restored from backup ok.
How do I get this notice to stop popping up, please?
Thx.
DanProblem solved.
Turns out that evidently the iPad Mini was dropped and the clear shell case for the back came off. It must have been put back on backwards so the On/Off Sleep/Wake button was being pressed by the case when held tightly... causing the "Slide to Power Off" message to show. This was discovered when the Smart Cover wouldn't stand the unit properly... But.. only after I guessed the Smart Cover was broken and I bought a new Smart Cover. The new red Smart cover didn't work any better than the previous blue one. Soooooo... I looked carefully at the unit and found that the clear back had been put on backwards!
Now, how do I turn this into a positive "teaching moment" with my spouse? Or, maybe after 53 years of marriage I'll just take credit for fixing it and getting her a beautiful new red cover!
Thanks for your help.
Dan
