Slides - Image Viewer - Netscape

Hello,
I have a 5 picture slide show on my page
http://www.interweb39.com/index.htm
that plays Ok in IE, Firefox, jumps a bit but plays in Opera, but
shows only like a space saver in Netscape.
What can I do to fix this problem, and also how can I make it
open smoother in Opera?
Thanks for any help

I'm glad things are working out.
You're going to have to do some housework I think before
going any further!
On each page at the bottom you have this:
</html>
<!-- text below generated by server. PLEASE REMOVE

Counter/Statistics data collection code --><script

src="

You're going to have to remove it - nothing should be below
</html>. You
won't see it locally, only in the remote files.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by the "keys" - maybe menu
items?
You've used the DW menus which are not recommended for a
number of reasons.
If you are going to do more websites you'll get a number of
recommendations
here. In the meantime I can't troubleshoot them - I think the
menu is a part
of your problem.
Can you point to specific pages and exact problems? Maybe
someone here cam
be of more help.
Image Viewer - sorry, I've never used it. I don't think in
fact that it *is*
widely used. Hopefully somebody here can help with this. On
this page (for
instance)
http://www.interweb39.com/photo-p.htm
You've used Fireworks to create your tables and I can't see
my way to help
with it, there's an awful lot of code that Fireworks
generates.
Sorry I haven't been able to help a lot with this one! Post
back after
removing the Yahoo stuff, it could make a difference.
Also, let us know the problems with specific pages.

Hello,
Please make sure that the next button is pinned to the right side as there in the attached image.
If it is already pinned, you can try removing any embedded HTML code and checking it.

• "Image Viewer" slide show wont work.

I am trying to do somthing very simple...creat a slide show using the image viewer option in Dreamweaver.  After uploading the Image "urls" it wont even play within dreamweaver.  What could be the problem?

1.  Have you uploaded the Scripts folder to the remote server... because if you try and view it, there's an error message that it can't be found:

• Why does my flash image viewer look different in firefox than in IE...

So I have created a horizontal spry bar that overlaps a flash image viewer slide show. When i load the page in IE everything works fine, but as soon as you open it in firefox it works improperly...you can hit refresh in firefox and sometimes it resizes the image I don't understand how that is possible....if you have any input it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You need to be aware of the limitations of the various browsers and make sure you use web-safe fonts and colors.....

Do a Command A on all your pages in iWeb to make sure that objects/text boxes are not touching or overlapping.
Firefox has problems with displaying drop shadows/frames etc.

• Image viewer question

I created a slide show using Insert>media>Image viewer
in dreamweaver cs3.
I removed the three default image link placeholders in the
flash elements panel "image urls" using the"-"sign. I added 6 pics
and removed the three image links also. The slide show works when
previewed in a browser but the first three images are clickable and
open the adobe.com site. How do I get rid of these links?

I'm having a similar problem. Any ideas?

• CS-3 Image Viewer - works in Development system - some (not all) site failure

I've looked at a number of discussion topics on the CS-3 Image View slide-show not working on the Website.  I have the AC_RunActiveContent.js file located in my Scripts folder on the Web-site.
I have correctly opperating slide-shows working on the site - one correct page is - http://www.billyandgracetea.com/Contact1.html.
One kinda flaky page is - http://www.billyandgracetea.com/Photo1.html.
And the page that totally fails is - http://www.billyandgracetea.com/Summer2010-Pics.html.
The page that totally fails - works correctly in my Development System - but fails on the Web-site.  It works correctly with the Play button and also when I compile the page with the Function Key 12 (although I am asked if I want to allow the running of Active X).
The flakey page - doesn't always run through all 18 sides - sometimes running 1 thru 7, then starting back at 1, etc.
The file system for ALL html files is the same on the Web-site.
How can I fix the page that totally fails ?  Is having 18 sides in the Flaky page - too many sides ?

On http://www.billyandgracetea.com/Summer2010-Pics.html

It doesn't exist in CS6.  Adobe discontinued this feature because DW is not an image gallery creation tool.   It's web authoring software.

• Spry menu and image viewer

I am using a spry horizontal menu.
Two problems I am trying to fix:
1. The drop down menus shift to the right in IE7 on PC
instead of coming up directly below the parent menu item.
2. The drop down menus overlap an 'image viewer flash
element' area and struggle to stay on top when the slide show is
playing. Is there a way to make them drop down over the flash area
or will that always conflict?
I am very new to Dreamweaver--I stalled on switching over
from GoLive which I have used since 1997.
Thanks for any help. I feel like a newbie all over again!

#comp_image {
background-image: url(../images/signs.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
position: relative;
height: 210px;
width: 745px;
Try making that rule like this -
#comp_image {
background-image: url(../images/signs.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
position: relative;
height: 210px;
width: 745px;
overflow:hidden;
Does that help?  I believe what's causing the gap is the top margin on the <h1> tag which will 'escape' the container.  By making the container a new block formatting context with the overflow style, you can prevent the margin from escaping.  Alternatively, just add this rule -
#comp_image h1 {
margin-top:0;

• Image Viewer-how to embed?

My image viewer flash movie is in the center of my page and
will not resize when the browser window resizes. I tried to resize
with percentage for width and height. This seems to work in IE but

drag the image to the email. that's all. how it will show on the other end depends on the email client configuration of your email recipients, not on you.

• Ie code fix for image viewer?

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to deal with ie's treatment
of image viewer parameters set in dw. When I configure image viewer
to display slides so that they are perfectly displayed in safari
and mozilla, they display off center, and sometimes the slides are
different sizes, in ie. Anyone run into this problem or know of a
solution?

Ye the code you provided is html and should go in the html source code.  When you created your site did you place a universal selector *, this helps keep everything in place.  It dose the same job as the wrapper div but on the outside.  Did you go and view the Dreamweaver Tutorials at my website here is the link http://www.helpvid.net just go to tutorials then dreamweaver tutorials, if you follow along to them in developing your site everything should be fine as everything is explained.  Its hard for me to give advice when I dont know how you created your site.  Things you do at the begining can have a big effect later in the development.

• Leopard Image Viewer(s) Recommendation?

I'm kind of the family (large family) archivist, and have probably close to a 100 CDs of digital and scanned photos and such (backed-up to an external firewire drive, of course).
Since my Apple G3, OS 9 days, I've used a FANTASTIC program called BigPicture. I still use it on my iMac 17" flat-panel (with the domed base), using Tiger (it runs under Classic.)
I bought an Intel MacBook this July, with Leopard, and of course, it won't run Classic (or BigPicture).
So I'm looking for suggestions for an alternative Image Viewer. I'm more than willing to pay. I've checked all the free ones at Versiontracker, and have found then all to be wanting:
http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/graphics/image-view
I don't want to use iPhoto, even if it would do what I want, because these pictures and such are on CDs, and I don't want them on my computer in an "iPhoto Library".
Nothing built-in to Leopard (Preview, Quicklook, etc.) suffices either.
Here is what BigPicture does (among other unimportant-to-me-things): (Check the screenshots below!)
1. You can load in a folder, a bunch of folders, or an entire CD of pictures.
2. It displays the images at their correct size, or, if the photos are larger than your screen, scales them down to fit your screen (you can zoom in, or out, by clicking the + or - button at the lower bottom-right mini-menu THAT DOESN'T OBSCURE THE PICTURE). There is no highly annoying thumbnail view or "tree" to the left or right or anywhere else.
3. To move to the next picture, you tap the space bar. Elegant simplicity!
4. You can "mark" a picture by moving your mouse to the top of the screen and selecting "mark" (there's a keyboard command, too, but I've never used it, or click the "M" at the bottom right of the screen, where most of the menu actions also exist). Once you've gone through all the pictures, you can "move" "delete" or "copy" the pictures you've "marked". (Not that it'll actually move or delete them if they are burned to a CD.) This is great if "little" nephew Jethro is finally getting married, and you want to gather pictures from his childhood that will embarrass the heck out of him at the wedding reception, and these are spread about in folders on a couple dozen CDs--this is also where the simple spacebar toggle comes in VERY handy.
5. It runs full-screen slideshows, either in the order of the pictures, or randomly, at a duration you choose, in seconds, and the slideshow runs repeatedly until you quit. Of course, by "grabbing" the lower right corner, you can make the slideshow smaller, so it doesn't take up the entire screen.
Oh, the other thing I really appreciate is at the lower left, it tells how many pictures you've loaded into the program, and what # picture you are on.
Here are a few screenshots of the no-longer-available program:
Elegant simplicity!

Can anyone recommend a program that does all of this with such elegant simplicity? It'd be great to take my MacBook to family reunions and such to run slide-shows.
Thanks.

I would very strongly recommend iviewmedia from (dare I say) Microsoft, available from http://www.iview-multimedia.com/
It will do 99% of what you requested, it is elegant, fast and very efficient.
It also catalogues off-line media (CDs).
On top of images it catalogues, previews and plays all other media types.
I used it at work and absolutely loved it. Very friendly, very professional.
edit> It is called Expression media now.

• How to Call Image Viewer from Form application

Hi,
how to call Image viewer using host command on oracle form 6i.
i trying using host command on local/client application .. and it is working ...

Are you using Forms 6i in client/server mode or web deployed? I'm not sure what you mean by 'try on server application"
Remember that when using a web deployed architecture, a host command will execute the command on the Forms application server, NOT on the client.
To execute host commands on the client you would have to use WebUtil, but that's not available for Forms 6i. Perhaps there are PJC's out there that can do it for you, but I don't want to get in all those details without me knowing if it is relevant for you.
