Slides missing when published to avi - HELP!!

Hi there
I've got a huge problem that I jsut can't fix - for two of my Captivate 4 projects, there are whole batches of slides missing (12 in a row is the worst case) when I publish the project as an AVI
I've been working on 12 seperate projects, each containing between 10 - 50 slides, with some audio, FMR and text captions (basically, nothing too complex, as I'm a first time user).
For at least two projects, when I publish to AVI (full frames, uncompressed), the videos just miss whole seconds of footage - there is no gap or silence, and the footage just continues from, say, slide5 straight into the second half of slide14 without a pause or noise.
The project is PERFECT when previewed fully, and when it plays and records itself before the publishing begins. Infact, I've exported it before with no issues.
Any ideas what's going on? Are they just corrupted?
I've tried re-importing the audio on the missing slides, adjusting the slide durations slightly, and basically fiddled with them, but each time I publish, the missing gap is EXACTLY the same.
the only thing I can think of is that I recently copied the whole project folder (with all the linked audio copied over into the same folder directory) from my network drive to my local drive. But as I said, I have other projects that have no, or only insignificant issues during publishing and they were also copied over in the same way.
Tearing my hair out with Captivate at the moment!!
Any help much appreciated!!

I've experienced this type of frustration publishing to SWF format in Captivate 3 which, of course, cannot export to AVI format. I don't know if the solution I've tried will work in Captivate 4, but it's worth a shot.
It was definitely a glitchy thing in Captivate where the program just lost its mind and was ignoring the slides as they were setup. (That's not a professional diagnosis.)  In a couple cases, I had to recreate the slide,  from scratch, where the issue began and delete its doppelganger. That stopped the issue from starting and the following slides fell in line.
Another time all I had to do was move the audio clips around on the timeline. It was important that I released the clip in a new location before returning it to its original start point. I had to do this on all the affected slides.
There had to be some sort of corruption going on, but these two options helped me at different times. I hope one of them works for you, Robert.

  • CP4 - Audio out of sync when publish to AVI

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having a problem when I create a presentation using most screen demonstrations where when I try to publish to AVI the audio moves out of whack.
I am running a Vista PC with lots of RAM.
When I publish to Flash it works fine... but we got this thing so that it would produce an AVI !
Any ideas? I have played around with screen capture and encoding settings but to no avail.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Hello there,
I am very sorry to hear that you have encountered problems when publishing to AVI. Since when you publish to SWF you do not experience the same problems, I would strongly recommnend that you report this issue to the Captivate team using the web address I have included below.
Adobe Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
I have seen some issues with the AVI converter and it would be useful if the CP team could inspect your source Captivate file.
If you are working to a deadline then in the meantime you might want to download a trial version of SoThink's SWF To Video Converter. At least for this project you could then get the files converted to AVI whilst you wait to hear back from the CP team.

  • Animations missing when published in Captivate 6

    I have Captivate 6.
Imported 4 animations (Flash swf) on different slides.
When published, one might appear - the others are not there. Return to the prior slide that displayed the animation only to see that it is gone as well.
I've done this in the projects and this did not occur.
The only difference is the file is bigger (over 20 slides w/4 imported animations that range from 3-20 frames each in Flash).
    Is there a fix?

    Hi folks,
    Couple of things....
If you want to knock out the background in Photoshop and transfer that image (knocked out) to iWeb you'll need to save the file as a 'transparent' png file. In Photoshop select save for web • select png 24 • check the transparent box. Voila. drag that file into iweb and you'll have a knocked out image.
Also, for those experiencing quality problems, while not necessarily easy or ideal, convert your images to flash and post according to the very good instructions found here ( http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/iWeb.html ).
Flash images don't suffer the same fate as 'regular' jpegs. The quality you'll get will rival what you see in Photoshop et al.

  • All .swf audio plays on slide 1 when published as swf file!

    Help!
I am trying to publish a series of projects (seven) as swf files to upload to moodle for a CBT course.  This is my first time ever using Captivate in this way and when I go to view the outputs using a web browser, all of the audio for the imbedded flash files in the project plays on top of each other on the first slide.  They will also play as they are supposed to during the course, but it's very annoying.
When I publish the project as a standalone file, everything works flawlessly.  What is causing this and how can I fix it?  I must also state that I outsourced the flash work and know next to nothing about flash, so any help you give that might involve that piece, I will have to pass on to the flash developer.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
EDIT: Captivate 3.0.1  Not sure what version of Flash.

Was there ever a typing text object anywhere in your project that you delete at one time? I remember from Cp3 that when it would capture a typing text animation from a capture session, that you could never truly delete the object from the slide, only hide it (not sure if it's the same in Cp4, I recently jumped to Cp5).
When in doubt, I would do Insert > Blank Slide, then re-create the audio/objects from your current slide 1 and insert/paste onto the blank slide, then blow away the problematic slide 1, then republish and see if that helps!

  • Typing audio that isn't on slide playing when published

    using Captivate 4
when I publish my project, a typing noise appears at the beginning of the project. There is no typing on the first slide at all, and the only audio file is some music. I don't hear it when previewing.
    any ideas?

  • Picture hyperlinks not working when published? Please help....

Some of the hyperlinks to my pictures do not work when I publish to my folder. I´ve tried to empty Safaris cache but it still doesn´t work. Please help me, pretty urgent....

    hi briebrie,
this is common mistake, see my post in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4004970#4004970
The work around is to leave iWeb default nav bar and header enabled, add your home made nav bar (outside/below of iWeb default nav bar).
Then turn off iWeb nav bar and header when you are done.

  • Frames Missing When publish live video to fms server

I am creating flex mobile application , that allows people to connect using a android camera and microphone, then recording video from android camera to Flash Media Server(FMS) 5 starter using adobe flex but when I play the recorded live video from FMS it's missing some frames. I have set the camera.fps to 30 but when I trace out the currentFPS for camera  30 and  netStream's currentFPS  returns low value, usually falls between 2 and 5 (high 1280X720),15 and 20(medium 640x480),25 and 30(low 320X240).where netStream is the object of the flash.net.NetStream class

  • Styles are missing when publishing to ePub in RoboHelp 9

    Good afternoon,
We are developing content for Android Tablets and have learned the customary format that we used is, well, unusable.
A few posts suggest that ePub is really the only way to go with Android Tablet Help.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2010/04/robohelp_script_to_generate_epub_format_content_fo r_mobile_d.html
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3629956
    http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/tag/mobile
    http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2010/12/epub-industry-standard-file-format-for-reflowable- content.html
So, I have published using the ePub format, but I have noticed the existing styles are ignored. In another post, it was noted to ensure that the tags are lower case. I edited the css file and made sure the tags are lower case, but this did not make any difference.
Any suggestions for what may be happening here? My best guess is there is an issue with the CSS file.

    Hi,
I ran some more tests and did some reading up, and I constantly come across the limitations of the ePub format/readers. From the ePub specification:
The CSS-based style sheet constructs in this specification define required rendering functionality. To minimize the burden on Reading System developers and device manufacturers, not all CSS 2 properties are included. A few additional properties and values have been added to support page layout, headers, and footers. These, taken together, constitute the OPS CSS 2.0 required subset.
An example about using colour in a style sheet:
Current browsers support a host of keyword color names. XHTML 1.1 defines 16 named colors, as well as numeric values. OPS style sheets may use all CSS2 forms, however Reading Systems are not required to distinguish all these colors for rendering (otherwise monochrome devices would necessarily be non-conforming, which is not the intent).
Fonts are supported in the standard (the standard says that font-family and other styling must be supported). As far as I can make out, you may choose between two things:
Use generic font description: serif, sans-serif, monospace.
Use font names, such as Arial. This however would require you to use an open type font which needs to be embedded in the ePub.
See the following section in the specification: http://idpf.org/epub/20/spec/OPS_2.0.1_draft.htm#Section3.4
The answer I can give you goes contains multiple facets:
ePub does not support all the formatting you may be able to throw at it using style sheets. A list of all supported formatting is available in the specification.
ePub readers can perhaps ignore styling even though the ePub format supports it.
Some styling, such as specifying a font, may only work after manually optimizing the CSS through an external CSS editor.
I haven't read the complete specification, so I'm not in the position to tell you what will always work, what will never work, etc. The following page has some screenshots of the same ePub on different readers: http://rufus.deuchler.net/2010/10/css-and-xhtml-tags-for-epub.html That illustrates the problem.
Sorry I can't be more help, but it seems we will have to learn to live with formatting loss in ePub. It's not Robo's fault, but it's annoying none the less.
    Greet,
    Willam

  • Photoshop assets missing when published

I wasn't sure if anyone had any answers for why photoshop assets that I've copied and pasted into iWeb won't show after they are published. These are photos i've stripped from their backgrounds and pasted into my iWeb site. They appear to be there on the pages within iWeb but when I go online to look at them...these photos aren't there? A few items are there but randomly some of these photos won't appear. Not sure why? I've even tried to copy and paste them again with no success. I even refreshed Safari thinking that it my goof. I never had this problem with last version of iWeb.

    Hi folks,
    Couple of things....

  • Blur filter missing when publishing the movie

In one movie I use some blur filter on a movie clip. I see
the effect when I play the timeline directly inside flash (by
pressing enter). But when I "Test movie" or publish the movie the
    blur filter is gone.
I have encoutnered this problem twice now and I don't know
why this is happening. I usually do not have this problem but
    suddenly the blur-filter stops working.
Publish settings are correct what i can see (version: Flash
    Player 9 )
    Anyone encountered the same problem?

Ok, I found out what the problem was. Im having a png-image
inside the movie clip I use the blurr filter on. And it seems like
there is a size-limit on the image when you are using filters. I
made the image a bit smaller and the blur came back and then made
it bigger and bigger in steps and just before I reached the
original image size the blurr filter stopped working again. I don't
know if the limit is on the pixel size or the kb of the image, but
some sort of size limit is there.

  • Borders missing when displated as HTML on Web

    Hi All,
I have created a matrix report and trying to publish it to the
web in HTML format. The borders are missing when published on
the Web. I tried to draw a line, but it does not help. I have
seen in these forums that it is a restriction. But can anyone
tell me any workaround and how you guys have implemented it.
    Thanks
    Chithan

    hello,
first thing, i would use HTMLCSS as this format produces a more
    accurate output.
there are restrictions with HTML(CSS) as it does not support the
creation of graphic-objects (lines, boxes, etc.) those will not
be visable in HTML(CSS); tableborders are basically graphical
objects around the datacells, therefore not available in HTML
    (CSS).

The drop shadow looks fine when applied while in muse but when previewed or published it does not.
The problem started after the February update. This is how it looks when published. Please help!!!!!

The only way I can make it go away is to save the file as an illustrator ai file and use that for pdfs. This would be OK, but other suppliers need to use the file and want eps format
EPS is simply unsuitable when dealing with transparency (which is what your drop shadow is). So you need to work with AI for placing in InDesign. If other suppliers need EPS, then just send them that. Nothing should keep you from exporting another file format.

  • FrameMaker 11 omits embedded pictures when publishing to epub 3

I am trying to publish a book containing multiple embedded pictures to epub 3, but for some reason the FrameMaker 11 omits the pictures when running the publish script. The pictures also disappear when publishing to html help, but not when merely publishing to pdf. What may be wrong?
I am running TC4 on win64 with everything updated

What's the graphics file format of the imported image files?
What conversion have you specified for the output, assuming that ePub workflow is similar to XML and HTML, where image destruction is controlled by:
File > Utilities > HTML Setup
    [ Options \... ]
    File Format for Images:
    (_) GIF  (_) JPEG  (_) PNG
    {any new choices in FM11?}
And since FM converts image formats for some workflows, those files have to reside somewhere, so access and permission problems could arise.
