Slides overlaying

I published demo with recorded slides showing typing or entries. After publishing, the steps recorded for one slide or showing up on another slide that was viewed previously in the presentation. I have went back and replaced the slides in that group but I am still getting this. Does anyone know the cause?

This issue is often referred to as "ghosting". The usual cause is having Advanced Project Compression turned on in Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality.
The recommended procedure is to turn off ALL compression options on that screen and then republish again to check for the presence of any ghosting. Once you get rid of it, start turning on the compression options one at a time again and republish each time.

Static Display of TOC with Narration Textbox Overlay

I'm working on a new project (and am still fairly new to Captivate). I want to have the TOC displayed (overlay, not separate) and be able to have the user click a button and open a text box with the narration for that slide overlaying the TOC. In other words, I want to have the user be able to toggle between the TOC and the slide narration text. I also need to have the TOC display on the slides when I am doing the programming for the project so that I can make sure all of the other slide elements are positioned correctly around the TOC/narration text area.
Is this possible? I've tried everything and looked everywhere I can think of and have not been able to find anything that describes how to do this.

Yes. You set them through the normal CC settings (via the Skin Editor).
Second, I have one slide I am using as a menu slide so I need to be able to play three different audio files depending on where the user is in the course – there is a welcome when they first start, a “continue” audio when the introduction has been completed letting the user know the modules are available, and a “conclusion” audio file that is played when the user completes the modules and the conclusion is unlocked and available.
Currently, I have 3 different text captions that are linked to 3 related audio files (imported into highlight boxes) and shown/hidden depending on where the user is in the course so the text caption is displayed with the appropriate audio file. Can this be done with the widget? It appears that there is only 1 CC and text-to-audio file available for each slide.
You are right. There's only one CC and text-to-audio file for each slide. The widget only repositions and resizes the CC panel. You "may" be able to use micro-navigation to jump to a specific frame of a slide where you could play that section of audio and CC text. Then have a button that pauses the side at the end of each section that would "go to next slide". Here's a post describing micro nav.

IPad Folio Overlay Preview Only Displays One Orientation at a Time

I have a simple two page InDesign doc created from the ground up for DPS. It has some text, image, slider overlay, and video embedded, and has a file_v vertical (portrait) layout and file_h horizontal (landscape) layout.
My problem is when I preview it on a connected iPad, only one orientation is previewed at a time. I double checked my iPad, its orientation is not "locked". I also tried on another iPad and had the same results. For example, only the portrait version is previewed on the iPad no matter how I try and change the iPad orientation. In order to preview the landscape version, I need to go back to my doc, scroll down to the page where the file_h version starts, and hit folio preview from there.
If I preview on desktop, the Adobe Viewer correctly shows both layout orientations and I can switch between them.
I only had this problem after recently renaming the doc. I tested an older version of the doc, and had this same problem.
My question is: might there be a setting or preference somewhere to lock an iPad preview to only one orientatation? I'd really like to get the function back to preview both orientations at the same time to see how they compare.

I was indeed using the folio overlay vs the folio builder.
From the folio builder panel, I setup a quick test folio and added my current doc, then from the top level folio builder panel, hit the twirly-down for preview on iPad.

I don't know if I accidentally tripped a setting or what, but
all of a sudden my slide application's root slide is overlaying all
its children (ie its content is in the foreground rather than
behaving as a background). I can't find a way to achieve this
behaviour manually so I can't work out how to turn it off!
Copying the offending slide tree into a new file results in
the same behaviour (even if the application slide is not the root
slide). I've rebuit it from scratch by copying assets to a new file
and it works again. Any ideas?
I've distilled the problem into a couple of
sample
files here
- busted.fla is the one with the problem
- ok.fla works ok (but i can't see the difference)
The samples are built like this

Each one has a coloured box on it and you would expect to see
the boxes stacked on top of each other according to the heirachy
above. In the busted.fla, however, root slide overlays everything
else (although the two child slides behave properly)

It is hard to tell the problem by just your description. If
you could post your file it would be a great help. Only thing I can
suggest is looking for any stop(); actions in your timeline.
At the end of your movie if you don't use a stop(); action it
should loop forever.

Stop Media Encoder Compositing error? - HELP!

I am queing a sequence from Premiere Pro CC to Media Encoder. Its a composite of a subject on a green screen keyed background with some slide overlays.
When the sequence is rendered there is an odd 'cropping' effect on the slide portion of the video.

This happens throughout the entire sequence, in multiple sequences. There is no crop effect of any kind applied to the footage, the entire sequence will play out just fine from inside the timeline, the effect only shows up when rendered through AME.
When I stop AME from using OpenCL and render using Software only the problem appears to be resolved. But I definitely don't like the idea of investing so much CASH in GPU acceleration if Encoder can't effectively take advantage of it. Frustrating.
Anyone seen familiar with a fix for this kind of problem!? Thanks

This began happening to me after a recent update to my AME CC version. I found that I could rendered directly from Premier Pro CC through the export function.
It apparently has to do with 3-d memory adresses. I was doing a scene with talent over a keyed out green screen and a CGI stage set in the background. About two thirds of the background was not rendering, even after I made sure the size requirement for the graphic elements was correct.
I would be interested incomments from someone at Adobe about this situation, we cannot be th eonly ones.
Oh, I am running hardware acceleration on the open GL and have 18 gigs of memory on the motherboard. 3.2 GHZ eight core procesor.

Fade in an overlay by a button in master slide

Hello,
I'm using custom made buttons for slide navigation in the master slides. Is it possible to let fade in an overlay object when a button is clicked?
E.g. I got a "Close" button in my master slide. If pressed, an overlay object should appear asking "do u really wanna quit? ..."
As these objects got no ID, the action "fade in" and the advanced actions wont work I think...
Any idea?

If you want it to trigger a shared or advanced action, you have to put the shape button on the first slide, time it for the rest of the project, always on top. Then it has a unique ID, you can control everything.
Or, You can put the 'overlay object' only on the first slide with same timing, hide it. Leave the shape button on the master slide and you can create an action that has the command 'Show....' in it. Since the overlay object is on normal slides, it has an ID.

How do I overlay a timer counting down on a Keynote slide?

I am searching for a way (app or otherwise) to have a timer counting down while in "full screen" mode in Keynote. I am an urban educator, and I've found it very effective in having a stunning image on the smartboard via Keynote, in order to focus engagement while the students enter my classroom. I would love to also have a timer overlayed on that slide somewhere (right hand corner likely) counting down - so students know how much time they have to socilize and become situated before class "officially" begins.

My brain got fried with all of the previous SWFLoader positioning and centering - so much that I had to stop and clear my head and then this became an easy case of putting the HGroup and the Logo inside a BorderContainer. I had inadvertently placed the Logo inside of HBox.

Trying to overlay photo slide show over video

Hi, I'm relatively new to iMovie but couldn't seem to work this one out myself.
I've have video of myself talking, and without disrupting the audio track, I would like to overlay a photo slide show of still images over part of my dialog, but can't figure out how to do this. Ideally, the video would fade out/fade in to the photo slide show, but the audio track would remain constant, and then when the photo slide show is completed, fade out/fade in to the straight video again.
Anyone know how to do this?

Select the clip with the audio and use Clip>Detach Audio. You have to put the stills on the main video track because you can't add transition to stills or clips on the overlay or B-roll track. Once the audio is separated you can replace the picture with stills and start building your slideshow on the video track.

Which version of 6? Check the slide quality, if it is at Low, push it to High or Optimized. Then uncheck all compression settings in Preferences, Project, SWF Size and Quality.

Getting a slide to OVERLAY the content below

I have a side with an information div... right below when
someone clicks on the informational div thing, a slider pops out
below it with a form. What I'd like to do is have arbitrary content
below the information div thing and when the slider pops out, it
OVERLAYS the content below it rather than shifting divs around and
that kind of thing.

Hi There,
Go to Slide Properties > Under Actions > On Enter set Show Widget and On Exit set Go to the next slide.
Then preview it and see if that makes any difference.

Object with multiple states and slider in folio are rasterized, settings seem correct.

I am having trouble keeping An object with multiple text states from being rasterized, as well as a slider that is also rastering.
I have read that you are supposed to set the folio and article up to be .pdf and that the slider should have the vector option chosen.
I haven't found anything for the multi state object to for these settings.
What happens is when I output the folio to Adobe Content Viewer, only the text in those items is rasterized. All other text is crisp. Tested on both iPad Mini and iPad Retina and the both are blurry.
Is there a way to force the vector option? It seems even with the correct options selected it is still rastering the test in interactive elements.

CP7 Rollover images Show up every OTHER slide

I am using CP7 and I have a number of graphics on slide 1 that I have defined to have a 'rest of project' timing. I have made multiple groups of graphics on slide 1 and I have made them to NOT be 'visible in output' this way, when I need them, I can use advanced actions to hide/show them (by group name) when I need them for subsequent slides. I am using slide 1 for this instead of the master slide because I need to define the stacking of graphics fairly specifically (slide 3 and further have some graphics that need to be in front of some things and behind some other things).
The set up is that I have a smart shape with a graphic and I am using it as a button on slide 1 (NOT visible in output and lasts for rest of project). Overlayed over top of my smart shape/button is a rollover image. The two objects work just like a rollover button you would see on the web. There is an advanced action that opens the group that the button is a part of and a few other graphic groups that I need to make it look good. When you click the button, there is another advanced action that is supposed to hide the group that both of those graphics are in, plus the other graphics that make it look good, and then go to the next slide. There is an advanced action on the next slide OnEnter that shows the what is needed for the beginning of the next slide.
So, here's the problem. When I click my button, everything disappears and goes to the next slide EXCEPT the rollover graphic, which stays on the screen and on top of all other graphics in slide 2. The SAME EXACT advanced action is used on slide 2 to go to slide 3 (with the same exact button because they are all really on slide 1 the whole time and just being made visible or invisible). When I click, I go to slide 3 and the rollover graphic is gone. I click the button again (to go to slide 4) and I go to slide 4 but the rollover graphic is BACK AGAIN!
I know that this is a complicated write-up, and I am going to go start from scratch to see if I can replicate the problem with a stripped down version of the advanced actions in a new file, but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction about what is going on. I have deleted and re-inserted the rollover image, but it still does the same thing. I have re-coded the advanced action and it still does it. I have copied rollover images that DONT have this weird glitch and it still does it.
Anyone have any ideas?

I found a 'workaround' to this problem, but I would still like to know what is going on underneath to make this happen. Since I have all the rollover graphics on the first slide with timing or 'rest of project' I just made an animated button in Flash and imported it as a .swf to replace the rollover image. I changed the smart shape underneath from having the image of the button to being transparent (still have it being used as a button with all the same advanced actions as before). Now the swf handles the rollover and the transparent smart button underneath handles the OnClick action and everything works great.
Not sure what was going on with the rollover images, but at least I was able to get the result I needed.

Using Keynote as community bulletin board- Can you overlay weather conditions?

We want to set up a Mac Mini running Keynote 09 to use as our community TV station's bulletin board to run when we are off-air.
Our old system software was only made for this purpose, so it could bring in (and overlay all the slides) with our local weather temps, etc. via our weather equipment on our roof.
Is there a way do to this within Keynote while it is playing overnight?

Sizing Photo Overlays In iMovie '08

I needed to use photos as the visual over top of the audio to disguise my edits, and was able to figure out how to drag the photo over the beginning of the clip so that it would replace the video, but not the audio. And then I could adjust the duration of the image, no problem. But for whatever reason, the images are showing up all zoomed-in. If it's a horizontal image, it only seems to zoom in a little bit, but if it's vertical, it crops off both the top and the bottom. Normally, when adding a photo, you can choose to crop, fit, or Ken Burns it, but I can't seem to figure out how to get that to come up when you're doing it as an overlay. Can anyone help me make my videos look better? Thanks in advance!

Got correct file and moved to trash. It was in my Home/library. You were right as IMovie durations are now unfrozen. Also, I upgraded from ILife '08 to '09 as it allows me to set slide durations up to 10 minutes. Duplicating and multiple copies of a slide were not realistic for me, as some may be several minutes long.

Issue with correct slide background not displayed

I am experiencing problems when publishing content captured from a simulation apart from the really annoying cursor ghosting when playing back typed text and the red screen of death and ghosting from previous slides when scrolling
I am now getting a completely different background on the published and previewed through browser slide to the background the unpublished slide is designed to show I have of course checked the timeline for hidden overlays and have also dragged the background from the library over the existing background to see if that cured it but no it still shows a background that is present in the library but is nowhere on the slide
the 2 slides either side play and look correct
The slide is also displayed correctly when previewed using "from this slide" it is only when published or through browser that the problem occurs
Strikes me that some of these issues are well past the time they should have been sorted I am begining to lose confidence in what should be a good tool but needs to be far more reliable
what with giving hackers my credit card details Adobe seem to be sliding and I am gueesing it is because they are getting greedy and quality is taking a back seat
Everything is getting so buggy Acrobat Pro, Photoshop etc all getting very unreliable I work in a large training dept for a majopr co and I am seeing issues on all different machines and OS so it is not just my machine

Maintain slide quality and not maintain slide quality, reducing size of file, export background to photoshop reimport jpg
With mixed results, I would just like your product to do what it says it will
The only way I have found to eradicate this problem and the others mentioned is to remove any fmr from the content
I have checked for proxy cache republished in 3 versions of flash sometimes have got different results but all unacceptable
I also note many others have had same problem without resolve
Can you please halt development on new products until you resolve problems that have persisted across several versions
I am also experiencing the close browser problem which I have solved by adding Javascript but surely you with your resources could do this for your
Customers who pay very good money for your products
I didn’t think I was buying a do it yourself kit
