Slides truncated on import

When I import slides from one captivate 2 project to another,
they are often truncated- the outside edges of the slides are
missing, and odd artifacts show on the slides as well. Is this a
Captivate 2 problem, or does it more likely indicate a problem with
my computer system?

I am having a similar problem. When I import a captivate 2
demo, it's as if someone took the main screen of the demo and slid
it over to the left so that only the remaining right side side
appears when the demo is run. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope
that we get a reply soon!

  • Notes getting truncated while importing excel to MS project

    Hi All
I am importing an excel sheet to MS project 2010 through import map. There are some notes related to tasks that are longer than 255 words in length. When the project map is completed, all the fields are fine other than the notes field. The data in notes
field gets truncated to 126 characters. Can someone help me out on this.
    Udyan

To those who may be interested in this thread.
The jury is still out on whether this truncation bug is also present in Project 2013/Excel 2013. Meanwhile I've developed a macro that will export a formatted Excel Workbook into Project. The macro is structured to run from Excel. The main purpose of the
macro is to export the full notes text data, (i.e. no truncation even at 255 characters), from a specified column on the Excel Worksheet into the Notes field of Project. Other basic Project data including Task Name, Outline level, Duration, Start,  &
Resource Names are also exported. An example of the formatted Excel Worksheet is shown below.
If you are interested in this macro, let me know.
    John
Example of formatted data for export. Note that multiple resource assignments per task are handled (not easily done with an import map alone). The macro detects the units used in the worksheet duration column (i.e. number only,  or number with "h",
"d", or "w") such that the proper data is exported to Project (i.e. minutes). For reference the note text shown for Task b is the text string that is truncated at 126 characters when using a simple import map. That bug is resolved by the macro. The notes text
for Task c is is 406 characters and all of them are exported by the macro (i.e. no truncation at 255 characters). The notes text for Task d has a line feed in the text string and that is exported by the macro.

  • Question Slide Templates and importing

I have a template with question slides and I've
saved it as a cp file. I then attempted to import slides and
objects from another project. It appears to be importing, and then
the only slides I have are the originals. None of the new slides
    appear. ???

    Hi there mfubib
Creating a template is simple. You may create one from
scratch or you may choose to take any existing project and save it
    as a template.
To create one from scratch, click File > Record/Create
    > New Project... > Other. You then set the size and whatnot
and eventually end up in the editing environment. You then add the
elements that you wish to have in your template. Once your template
looks like you want, you follow what is outlined in the next
    section.
To save any existing project as a template, click File >
Save As... and when the Save As dialog appears, click the drop-down
menu at the bottom and choose "Adobe Captivate Templates (*.cptl).
I'm not sure what you mean with "Additional flexibility with
question slide template with Captivate 3". There is no "template"
per se. What we see with Captivate 3 and question slides is that we
may now copy, paste, import and export Question slides. We may also
randomize them by creating question pools and drawing random
questions based on the pool. We may also shuffle answers as well as
customize the buttons used. But that's about it as far as I can
recall. Perhaps if you are able to articulate more about what it is
you are wanting to do, we might better answer the question.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Need help with export, truncate and import partitions for schema

I need to export a couple partions for our Oracle 10g Data Warehouse, truncate the partions and re-import the data using the exported file. How can I do this?
In summary here is what I need to do:
    1) Export partition P_SUB_1 of table1
    2) Export partition P_SUB2 of table2
    3) Truncate P_SUB1 partition of table1
    4) Truncate P_SUB2 partition of table2
    5) Rebuild indexes on table1 and table2
    6) Re-import data into each partition from export files.

If you have enough free space it might be easier to keep these partition in the database and do an exchange.
    That means:
    create table tmp_sub1 as select * from table1 where 1=0;
    create table tmp_sub2 as select * from table2 where 1=0;
    alter table table1 exchange partition sub1 with table tmp_sub1;
alter table table2 exchange partition sub2 with table tmp_sub2;After that your have the data of your original partitions in the tmp tables and the particular partitions in the partitioned table are empty and ready for the loading process.
If the loading process fail and you need to restore the partitions just reverse the exchange statements and you are done.

  • Long filenames truncated when imported

    Hi Logic-Wizards.
Is it a way to NOT get long audiofilenames truncated down to just 26 (???) digits when importing to Audio Window? ProTools do not, so I believe the limitation is within Logic - not the OS. It quite irritating, especially when working with SFX library files - where the filename contains a specific description of the content...
I remember an earlier version of LP would not allow import of audiofiles with long names. Now it does (and it helps a bit), but unfortunately truncates the names using the 7 last digits for a hex code...
    Thank you for any help!

  • FCE for Slide Shows - Can Import Image Files Without iPhoto, iMovie?

From posts and the manual it sounds like yes, you can import files (of the right type, such as TIFF or JPEG, and even Photoshop with layers) directly into a project in FCE. Is that so? No need to have them in iPhoto or iMovie or somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Rich
Context (repeated for a number of questions about FCE I'm asking separately): Trying to escape the Windoze world where I've been using ProShow Gold to make still images (and video) slideshows somewhat easily, I'm thinking I'll be fine with the "more work" to build slideshows in FCE, and would enjoy using the increased power of the program eventually for working more with video. Already hip to the Tom Wolsky posts and links that look great for how to preprocess still images via Photoshop to ready them for FCE, along with lots of other info. Also have looked at all the free Apple web tutorials, as well as the FCE 4 Manual.

Thank you. I've kind of been thinking that I'd use the info found at http://www.fcpbook.com/Photoshop1.html and hopefully with a batch type process precondition all the images so they'd be more video-ready. But before I do much I'll experiment with just bringing in the full-sized, straight out of the camera image and how it looks after applying the De-interface filter.

  • DVD Menu and slides truncated/cropped against my will :-)

I seem to have the menu and slides cropped on the left side by a significant number of pixels. THIS OCCURS on my standalone DVD player and NTSC regular TV. When I preview the DVD on my computer it looks perfect.
What can I do to make sure the whole menu appears on my TV...I DON'T have a wide-screen TV...I have the OLD FASHION size.
    Thanks, --bill

Overscan = not a single home TV on this planet will dispaly all pixels of the actual image area due to manufacturing variations. That's what safe areas are for. You need to resize your imags and place them against a frame which you won't mind getting cropped. The rest of your settings are right for an NTSC DVD.

  • Video truncates on import

I have an MPEG that was converted from an MPG4 using AVS Video Converter. The MPEG plays all the way through in a viewer like Microsoft's Windows Media Player.
However, whenever I bring the MPEG into Adobe Premiere Elements 3 to edit, I get only the first 2 minutes of the video. The video is 20 minutes long.
If I stretch the handle on the right, there is no other information - the video is not simply clipped, it is missing the other 18 minutes. (Sounds like the Watergate tapes!)
    Has anyone experienced this before?
The video came from google.video (downloaded using KeepVid. I am trying to clip a portion of a speech by Barry Schwartz for a presentation at work. I suppose there could be something in it that is set to prevent me from editing it, but I haven't seen that before. Source is here:
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7881889424111915182
    Thanks,
    Barbara Heninger

Okay, I'm an idiot - Premiere 4 handles MP4 files, so I didn't need to do a conversion anyway. The MP4 came in fine.
I'd still be curious to find out if anyone else has problems with the MPEG output from AVS4YOU. But at present, it's moot.

  • Text Caption Boxes on imported PowerPoint slides

I have imported a number of PowerPoint slides (with an image)
into a Captivate movie. Text is needed on these slides so
originally I created the text on the PPT slides, but when imported
into Captivate the text formatting and spacing was all messed up.
So, I had to reimport those PPT slides with no text. After
reimporting, I used Text Caption Boxes to enter the text onto those
PPT slides. When published, those text boxes display small white
boxes (white is the text color) everywhere I used the space bar in
the text boxes (after a bullet, etc.) The white boxes do not show
when previewing or editing in Captivate.
Is there a way to get rid of those boxes or does anyone know
    of any other solution?
    Thanks in advance!

You're welcome. And speaking of "thanks", I have copied the
"fix" for the Transparent Caption Style bug from the guy who has
been a great friend and the best source of real intelligence in the
Captivate "expert" community, Paul Dewhurst. Paul deserves the real
"Thanks" for discovering the cure for this irritation ... his
solution is as follows - and I quote:
    quote:
One of the Problems Captivate used to have was that if you used
transparent captions then the text in the published movie would
look blurred, In captivate 2 you can fix this problem and have nice
crisp text all you need to do is select
#C0C0C0 as the highlight colour and highlight part of the
text (you can select just one character) this makes the text in the
published movie display nice and crisp and the highlight is
    transparent.
I hope this helps - and by the way, you can find other
great tips from Paul on his website at

  • Change  advance on power  point slide  after import

How  do I change a power point slide that was imported to advance on click but I want the slides to advance automatically?

    Hello,
Watch the imported slides, they all have a Click Box inserted at the end of the timeline (see screenshot in the red rectangle). Delete that click box and the slide will advanced automatically.

  • Problems Importing Slides / Captivate 3

I have a series of 6 related Captivate projects, plus one I
use as a template. Since there's some shared content, I need to be
able to copy slides from one project to another, but I am having
serious import problems. When I try to import slides from one
project to another, typically what happens is the process runs
(slowly) and then I get one additional blank slide (regardless of
how many I attempted to import). Or nothing at all.
I have tried everything I can think of - importing slides
only (no objects), importing to and from only from very small
projects, excluding question slides from the import, importing
small sets of slides--contiguous and not, clearing the cache,
    cleaning up my disk, rebooting...
I am stumped. Is something hosed? Any ideas what else I can
try? I have in the past had no trouble w/importing, even within
    this set of files...
    I am using Captivate 3 & XP.
    Thanks in advance.

I tried out one of Rick's (Captiv8r's) suggestions in an
answer to another post, and so far it seems to have been a miracle
cure for this and some other ills. The solution involves removing
    or renaming this file: captivate_v30.dat

  • Captivate 8 not importing PowerPoint slides in correct order

I am using Captivate 8, and PowerPoint 2007.
I have a PPT  presentation with 24 slides.  The original PPT presentation had only 14 slides, and I imported that into C8 with no problems - even when I made updates to those slides in PPT, the update in C8 went smoothly.
I increased the slide count in the PPT file, saved it, and in C8 I updated the file in the Library.  Now the slides are out of order!  And the slide count in C8 is completely off - for example, it says on one slide, "8 slide 5."  It isn't slide 8 in PPT, and it isn't slide 5 in PPT.  It's slide 15 in PPT.  But in C8, it's slide 8.  Other slides are also out of order - all of the additional slides that I made.  I've tried closing and restarting both programs with no success.
I could simply swap out the slides, which I started doing and, because it's only 24 slides with roughly 10 slides out of order, it won't be too big a deal. But when I start transfering presentations with more slides, or with slide additions in the future, this WILL be a big deal and will really screw the efficiency factor of my projects.
I already know that I can simply use C8 to capture the PPT presentations rather than transfer, and I already know that C8 is not the ideal program for transferring PPT slides.  My client wants quizzes and other media incorporated into the projects, so I need to use C8, and I cannot simply make a capture of the PPT presentations because that is not what the client wants.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you solve it?  Or is this simply a bug in C8?
    Thanks!

    Hi there
An observation as well as a question here.
Why not simply create a totally new project any time you add slides to the PPT?
When you update, you are essentially spending as much time as it takes to import fresh again. So I might think the better approach would be to simply trash or abandon the old project, then import the PPT again to create a totally fresh project. And you also wouldn't have the headache of the mismatched slides.
    Food for thought.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Import Video To Layers: no slider on window

I'm trying to import part of a .mpg file using Import Video Frames To Layers. I only want a very small part of the clip but the slider in the import window appears to be missing. I need this to work, does anyone have a (re)solution please. This functioned fine in all previous versions of PS I've used. I need this functionality in order to work.
    Screenshot attached.
    Windows XP Pro
    Adobe CS4 Extended

    Mylenium,
I appreciate your response, but I don't think it's relevant to my setup.
    1) I do not have the 64 bit version of XP pro.
    2) As stated in my post, this worked fine in previous versions, under the same OS, on the same system.
    3) .mpg files (and in fact all quicktime files) work fine in my browser (screenshot attached)
As I said, I do appreciate your response, but it hasn't helped me. I do hope there's a resolution because otherwise, taken along with PS11's inability to import .gifs while preserving the individual frame timings, photoshop is becoming less and less useful for large aspects of my work. That's a regrettable trend, particularly given that this is all stuff that worked fine for me before, and particularly given the price of the software.
    All the best,
    Mark

  • HD clips truncated on 1/4- & 1/8-speed import

    All-
I'm on a 12" PB 1.5Ghz, 1.25GB RAM, running the latest and greatest OS X / IMHD updates as of today. Camera is a SONY HDR-HC1. The issue involves importing HD at slower-than-realtime speeds. As has been discussed, the capture is supposedly real-time but the conversion to AIC is slower. What's still unclear to me, and what I could not find an answer for in the discussion archives, is how to avoid clips being truncated on import. For example:
    1. If, during an import, the iMovie "import" button is pressed when the tape reaches the end of the clip you're trying to import, import ceases immediately at the point currently displayed in iMovie. This is of course the AIC conversion point, which lags the tape, so the clip is truncated. So that's no good.
    2. If, instead, during an import, the iMovie "stop" button is pressed when the tape reaches the desired point, the Mac pop ups a progress bar saying the remaining HDV cache is being processed. However, when this eventually completes, the clip is shorter than the target point on tape. It's closer, but still not there. Presumably the HDV capture process is not entirely real-time either.
    3. The only way I've found to reliably capture the full length of any clip in question is to stop iMovie using the "import" button when the iMovie display itself shows that the AIC conversion process has reached the point you desire. While you're waiting, you must *let the tape run* way past the end of the clip in question. Four to eight times past the end, to be precise. Only problem is, it's unlikely you've got that much tape left. And if the camera hits the end of the tape before the Mac reaches the target point, the camera will automatically click off and iMovie will cease its import at that point. Yes, it will continue to process any remaining HDV cache, but if your clip is close enough to the end of the tape, the cache will not be enough to take you to the target point.
    Anyone?
