What size should I set my slides to on my mac so they will not be resized when transferred to my iPad?

12 of my presentations were done in 720 x 540 and imported from power point. When I try to change them on the mac the slide becomes larger but the graphics stay the same. When I let Keynote on iPad resize them, it works out perfect. So I will let it do its job.
For the new ones I will resize in Keynote for mac.

Datagrid within Datagrid - Rows not resizing to fit content

I have a datagrid with a custom item renderer that renders another data grid... so one column will render datagrids within the outer datagrid. The problem is that the row does not size to fit the inner datagrid. I can't set the rowHeight on the outer datagrid because the inner datagrids have dynamic data and i don't know how many rows they will have. Also, after the datagrid is rendered, more rows may be added to any number of inner datagrids at a later time... and I need the rows holding them to resize accordingly. Setting variableRowHeight=true on the outer grid doesn't seem to help either.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Hi, Alex, thanks for the info. It turns out, I was wrong. The way it looked made me think it was a row-resizing problem, but it turns out that the rows were resizing fine... it was the outer datagrid itself that was not resizing properly. Apparently it has to do with the combination of variableRowHeight and rowCount. The jira issue may look familiar to you.

Anyway, I got this from the jira comments and works pretty good...

I also have to call similar code when the data provider of the inner grids add/remove items.

CS4 Image Processor: Why does "Resize to Fit" kill my action?

I had some JPEG's that had some dark shadows. I already had a custom action in CS4 that was worked for what I needed that I could use with the image processor. What I did was just open, do my action and save as a JPEG.
The existing action simply was:
Convert to Smart Object
Shadow/Highlight
Smart Sharpen
Create Vibrance Layer
It worked fine until I added the "Resize to Fit" option in the Image Processor dialog.
While I could see the actions being stepped through, the final photo was just a resized version of the original without actions applied.
Why?
I used to do this in CS2...I thought.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your response.
I had already ended up using the "Fit Image" command which works...but the point is that I wanted run the script on several sets of images for different purposes which required specific sizes. It's convenient to do that in the "Image Processor" dialog when I run each set. I don't want to have to edit the action each time I do a different group of photos.
It's more a question of why this does not work than finding an alternate ways to accomplish the task.
i.e. Is it a bug or a misunderstanding on my part?

"Scale to fit paper size" ......doesn't

It's often convenient to scale a web page down to fit the entire page on letter size.
This is doable with the Scale field in the print dialog box.
On the other hand, I can't get Paper Handling>"Scale to fit paper size" to work in Safari.
It works in Pages, TextEdit, Preview, and Word.
Why not Safari?
I've found posts on the Internet making the same observation, but no answers.

Can you resize a slide without resizing text?

When I try to lengthen my slide, Keynote resizes all of my text, horribly distorting the layout. Is there a way to prevent Keynote from doing this?

I've been trying to replicate your problem without success.
Would you please tell us what you mean by "lengthen" or send an image of your distorted slide?
Normally, to change the size of a slide you use the Document Inspector > Slide Size and Select from available options. Even if you customize the dimensions, the text is usually well behaved.

Flash based website.. stage/background resize to fit browser?

I've built a pretty basic portfolio-style website using Flash and Actionscript 3. All is functioning well, with the exception of stage size vs. browser size. Basically, I want the stage/background image to resize to fit the stage, while having the main content stay fixed in the middle. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? Also, if at all possible, a step-by-step guide would be amazing since I'm pretty new to AS3/coding in general.

That helps with it resize with the browser, but there is still a considerable gap on either side of the background(striped) image. I know I can handle the top/bottom gap with a little CSS, but how do I make the background stretch all the way left and right? I think even tiling it might work fine, but I'm still unsure of how do do that.

I would like to have a background image (.jpg) automatically resize to fit any browser's window...& I read somewhere on the web it should be accomplished by placing the image in a layer (as a background image); & then set the layer size to 100%.

For the record, I'm not a big fan of huge background images on web pages. They take forever to load on slow connections. And some mobile devices won't display them at all. So all that weight just for eye candy is kind of a waste IMO.
I think the safest, most practical way to achieve backgrounds that fill available viewport is to use a small, seemless tile and repeat horizontally, vertically or both.

1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

Thanks for that babowa. If I add my Yahoo account it just goes straight to MacMail and says I already have an account. There seems to be no basic problem with mails going between Macmail and Yahoo. It is just the folders that have disappeared, while MacMail was out of action. I don't think those particular folders were ever on the Yahoo mail that I access through BT, they were just on the MacMail under "Yahoo" as opposed to "On my Mac". I am worried in case I lose what I already have if I press "Restore" from my back up. As you can see, I am not exactly good at this!

If it's a Mac font and you're on Windows, you can't. If you are also on a Mac, you'll need to purchase the fonts (fonts are generally non-transferable, like software. One of the reasons pdf exists), install them and try your edits.
But it's best to edit the original document and create a new pdf when finished.

It all depends on what you do.
If you reformat the partition containing OS X then nothing will happen to the BootCamp partition.
If the other hand you reformat the whole disk then it will be gone.
Why do you think you need to reformat the drive?

Report Size to fit Chart Size

Using the dynamic width and dynamic height properties of a chart I will change the size of the chart dynamically.
However, when exporting the chart to an image I want it to export at the chart size and not be restricted to the static size of the page.
Any way to do this ?

If I understand correctly, you want to make the size of report to fit the size of chart, so the chart can be fully displayed after export the report to an image. Based on my research, I find that PageSize property is a static value. The page size does not
grow or shrink to accommodate the contents of the report body. If you want the report to appear on a single page, all the content within the report body must fit on the physical page.
So in your scenario, I couldn’t find an appropriate method to make the report size automatically change to fit the chart size. This is by design. As a workaround, I suggest that you can change the size of report to an appropriate value based on the chart
size you may select.
