Slides won't auto advance?

I have just a few slides ina presentation that won't auot-advance.  I don't know how to get them too.  When I imported it in from PPT if removed the on a click setting and the majority of the presentation wroks jsut fine.  It is jsut a few slides at the end. Ideas?

Sometimes there are other objects on the slide that might be pausing it.  For example, most Cp authors don't realise interactive widgets also have pausing points because these are not shown on the timeline.  The pause timing is only shown on the Properties tab > Timing accordion.
Another reason might be that in the original PPT slide there was pausing added.  This then cannot be changed in Cp.  You have to go back to the PPT and change it there and update your presentation.

  • Playing songs in library on desktop computer - songs won't auto advance

OK, I realize that this might rank right up thee under all time dumb questions...
I am sitting at my desktop computer and just want music playing from my Library in the background. A single song plays, and it doesn't automatically shuffle to a new song. I have to manually go into my Library list, double click a song to play, the single song plays, and stops. Also, while the song is playing, I cannot advance to a new song - it just plays that song and won't advance to a new song.
My acutal Ipod is actually working fine - no issues.
    Thanks!

Duh....I knew it was a silly question. Worked perfectly - sorry to bother everyone!

  • Slideshow Module: Slideshow getting stuck, won't auto-advance

We use Lightroom 4.3 in our studio to show our work to clients.  One of our slideshows is based on a smart collection of all 5-star rated images.  Before a client comes in, we'll click on the smart collection to load the images, go to the Slideshow module and use a preset we've created that has our desired background color, fade time, etc.  and hit "play".
Recently this particular combination is not working properly.  After a random number of images, the slideshow simply stops advancing and appears to be "stuck".  If I hit the right arrow key on the keyboard to advance to the next image, nothing happens.  However, if I hit the right arrow key twice, skipping the next image and going to a second image, the slideshow will continue.  It will then get stuck again after a few slides.  The only thing that I can figure is that by hitting the arrow key twice, I'm skipping a "bad" image that doesn't want to load.  I can't tell what image that might be.  The images that are held up on the screen seem to be different each time, because we are playing the slides in a random order.
Is there a way that I can figure out if there are some kind of "problem" images that cause the slideshow to hang?  Has anyone else had this problem?  Or does anyone have a different theory (other than the "bad" image theory) of what might be going on here?
Updating from 4.2 to 4.3 did not solve the problem.
Optimizing the catalog did not solve the problem.
Using a different slideshow preset does not solve the problem.
Using a different set of images DOES prevent the problem from occurring, but of course, I need to show these images. (Ex: a different smart collection that doesn't contain all the same images.)
    OS: Windows Vista
Images: combination of CR2 raw, PSD, and jpeg
No error message.  Slideshow simply gets stuck.
No recent changes to computer or software that I am aware of.
I just had a thought.  I am going to go play the slides NOT in random order and see if I can find any pattern.  In the meantime, any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay, I answered my own question.  My thought about unchecking "Random Order" and then playing the slides quickly showed me the problem files.  There were a handful of files that had a black circle with an exclamation point in them.  This circle was where the question mark normally goes if LR can't find a file.  When I clicked on the exclamation point, it said LR could not access the file, or something like that.  I simply changed the rating on those images from 5 stars down to 4, which effectively removed them from my smart collection without having to delete them from my catalog.  At some point, I'll go back and figure out what the problem was with those files, but at least my slideshow is back up and running!
The funny thing is that I've been google searching this problem for weeks with no results.  Then I finally post in the forum and while typing the question, I figure out my own answer.  Go figure.  But I thought I'd post this up in case someone else has this issue, because there's NOTHING about this anywhere else I could find. :-)

  • Lightroom 3.6 Slide Show auto-advance

I just got a new computer and use Lightroom 3.6.  Now when I make a slide show and save it as a PDF it won't auto-advance to the next slide when running. When I review it in Lightroom it auto-advances fine but when I run the PDF file it sticks on the first slide and must be advanced manually. I believe I'm running the latest version of Adobe Reader as I just downloaded it last week when I got my new computer. Can someone explain how to get the auto-advance feature running like it did on my old computer?  Thanks.

I don't use the slideshow module very often. But I just quickly created a small slideshow. In my little test the images did not auto-advance until I went into full-screen mode. Then it worked just fine. Also, make sure you haven't checked "Manual Slideshow" in your options.

  • Captivate 7: slide with mouse will not auto advance after publishing

After I export my Captivate video, any slide that has a mouse object on it does not auto advance. I suspected that maybe the clicking sound file default attached to the action may have become corrupted, so I opened the sound file attached to "single-click" from Captivate. In the VisualClicks folder, there were no sound files. So, I opened the ClickSounds folder and attached the Mouse.mp3 file to this action. After publishing the training, the slide still will not auto advance. The slides that do not have the mouse action advance automatically as they should. The sound file may not be the issue (going to try to uncheck all of the Mouse Click Sound check boxes and republish to see if that helps).
Was hoping to find a solution for future videos.
Each slide is basically a layer of audio > slide > png file > the occasional smart object and/or text > mouse. I have no quizzes or video.
When publishing I use the following setup swf/html5 with swf + html5 checked and scalable HTML content checked. We use Google Chrome and I've had numerous people try my HTML link after I've uploaded all files and everyone has the same issue.
1- Do you happen to know why the mouse action would cause the slide to not auto advance, and if so please let me know a solution so the user doesn't have to click next. If the mouse itself isn't the culprit, any other suggestions on what could cause this?
2- Is there a way to make changes to the audio or override the mouse properties on all slides? I tried right clicking and "use the current mouse pointer for all slides" but it didn't change any of the properties. Thankfully my video is only 110 slides or it would have been even more painful.
    Captivate 7
    Windows 8.1

    Of course! Here ya go
For the record, I did create a new project with only two slides to try and duplicate the issue. I had the same problem. I unchecked the Mouse Click Sound check box, republished and the slide auto advanced. I'm wondering if a default sound file was somehow moved or deleted? I discussed uninstalling and reinstalling C7 onto my laptop, but that's a frustrating solution haha

  • Question slides auto advancing prior to an answer being selected

    Hi-
I have searched the postings and cannot find anything similar to what I am experiencing.
This only happens once the user has gone through the quiz once and has failed.  The passing grade is a 100%, so the chances of someone needing to re-take the quiz is rather high.  What happens is when the user gets to say question 3 or so, after about 10 to 15 seconds, the slide auto advances to the next question and does not allow the user to go back and answer the question.  Then on the next question it will not allow the user to select an answer.
This does not happen the first time through the quiz, only the second time through.
Has anyone else experienced this before?  Any ideas of what setting I have wrong?  I have all of my question sides set up the same; I have T/F and M/C.
I am using Captivate 4 (with all updates) and running the quiz through GeoLearining (our LMS).
    HELP!
    Thanks,
    Michelle

Just a note...I have checked the timing in the playbar and it is the same for all questions and it happens on question 1 and question 9 as far as I can tell.  I am not able to see how these questions are set up any differently than the other quesitons in the quiz.  There are only 15 questions total in this program and a total of 20 slides.

  • I copied a slide from a self-paced presentation to add to a click-paced presentation but it keeps auto advancing.  How do I get that to stop?

So, the title says it all, I think.  In the Set-up tab, the "guilty" slides show the same global choice as the others for "Presentation Type" (Normal not Self-playing).  I don't see anything to click for an individual slide to stopit from auto-advancing.  What to do?

Gary Scotland -- Thanks for pointing to the Animate menu as relevant!!  For me that had not meant transitions from one slide to the next.  You kicked where I needed to be kicked.   All now works as hoped for.  And, I'm smarter. Thanks.

  • Auto slide play vs manual advance

I just had a rotten experience. I drove 1 1/2 hours to another city to give a presentation using Keynote slides.
As I was setting up, I noticed that the slides automatically advanced. I had no idea why. I didn't make any settings to do that and didn't want it. I have other presentations that work fine.
Since I am not a Keynote expert, I don't know the myriad commands and menus. I also think Keynote and Pages have the worst UIs of all Apple's products - items are hidden under multiple layers with odd names that you wouldn't recognize.
So, for 20 minutes, I frantically searched through the Keynote menus looking for anything that said Auto advance, timed advance, auto anything - nothing. It ought to be in plain view under the View command, the most logical place.
I looked through the Keynotes Help menu and found absolutely nothing related to auto advancing slides. There was no internet at that location, so I could only use the internal help info.
Finally, in desperation, I exported the talk to PPT and put it on my host's PC, thinking Keynotes had a bug. Well, it behaved exactly the same way.
So, my host sat at the computer manually advancing the slides, and backing them up when they jumped for a hour talk. THANKS APPLE.
When I got home, I spent an hour combing through all the menus trying to find anything about auto advancing the slides.
I knew from looking at the language in the menus in Keynotes and Pages, that Apple's terms wouldn't be ordinary terms used to describe advancing slides.
I finally found it. Buried under the Inspector, the left hand icon Document Inspector, under the heading Document, under the Presentation pull down menu were the terms "Normal" and "Self-Playing". The clue, of course, was Self-Playing. Clicking Normal fixed the problem.
This item was badly named and four levels deep - Inspector/Document Inspector/Presentation/Normal.
Maybe this note will help others find this item is Apple's maze of confusing menus.

command is buried somewhere inside Keynote. I can't remember where.
The name of the command has nothing to do with starting/stoping auto advance.
This is one of the worst UI things from Apple. Reminds me of XP.

  • Adobe Presenter 10 - Windows - Slides not auto advancing?

    Hello,
I am having a lot of trouble getting my slides to auto advance. When I preview the presentation within PowerPoint (Adobe Presenter tab, Preview, Preview Presentation), everything looks fine, but when I publish and preview in the browser, the first slide auto plays, but then the following slides do not. I've tried changing just about every setting regarding slide behavior that I can think of and have included screenshots of the screens I've made changes with. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions!
    Thank you!
    -Monica
Slideshow - I've tried turning on and off "play narrations" and "use timings"
Adobe Presenter Settings: Default slide duration was 5 seconds - I've tried with that or 0.
Transitions - I've tried turning on and off "on mouse click"
Slide Manager Settings: I've checked to make sure Advance by User is 'No' and Lock Slide is 'No'.

    Hi Monica,
Please package the presentation and mail me so that i can have a better look..

  • Disabling auto advance slides?

Hello all, in powerpoint/presenter, how do u disable the auto
advance of slides once content has been uploaded onto breeze? It
always seems to stick to 5 seconds even if u manually alter the
    timiings or disable them altogether!!

While you're still in PowerPoint, before you publish, Select
the Presentation Settings option under Breeze from your alt bar. On
the "settings" tab is an option to set how long the slides will
wait (default is 5 seconds, and setting to 0.0 results in a playbar
issue, so I suggest 0.1 seconds). Keep in mind you probably also
want to change each slide to "advance by user", which is a checkbox
under "Slide Properties" for each slide.

  • Finder won't auto arrange by kind-

    Hi,
Since some time my Finder won't auto arrange my files by kind anymore. If I select this option, it simply doesn't do anything. I can auto arrange by name, dates, size, anything except for by kind. THis wouldn't be so much of a problem, if it weren't the only option I actually use to auto arrange…
Been trying to find a solution, but I don't find anything on the internet, and I don't seem to be able to fix it myself either.
Anyone who has experienced the same problem and knows how to fix it? Or someone who doesn't have the problem and knows how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance
    Grts
    Matthias

OK, it just works here, so I'd try this after my investigations...
First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • How do I stop Full Screen Mode from auto advancing?

I am attempting to show a PDF slide show in Full Screen Mode. The slides autoadvance and I can't find out how to stop it. I went to Preferences and made sure that the box with the faded 5 sec was not checked for auto advance but the program still advances. Any help?

I can't get either Acrobat 9 Pro or Reader X to do this and I tried with several PDFs. Unchecked, nothing advances automatically. Maybe someone else has some insite.

  • Training project is auto-advancing instead of being student-driven.

Using Captivate 5.0, I have developed some training simulations. I have set the click boxes with the following properties:
So in other words, the user should be in control of advancing the slides, once they've clicked the right spot! The projects are being published as swf. I'm also creating an html file so that these can be embedded as web objects into an Articulate Presenter project. HOWEVER, when I go to view the published training simulation, it is auto-advancing. It's as if none of the clickboxes are working, and as if it is a demo!
    PLEASE HELP! Thanks everyone....

    Hello again
Sounds like you have never had Captivate training.
Click Boxes are transparent by their very nature. There is nothing you need to do to "hide" them from your user. The "Visible" check box is there so you can hide them from the Flash Player at runtime. For example, maybe you have a Click Box that should only become "clickable" once the learner performs an action. So you would toggle off visibility then using Advanced Actions you would turn visibility back on and make it become clickable.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Slideshow's Auto Advance

Is there a way to defeat the auto advance in slideshow, that is, causing the slide duration to be infinite?
If not, is there a way to pause the slideshow when it is running in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, then restart it later from where it was paused?
    Thanks,
    Lanny T.
