Slideshow and iweb

Hi, When I save my website the slideshow only shows 3 slides rather than the fifty I have on the page. In other words how do I get all photos to show up in the slideshow when saving to a folder? I don't want to publish my site on the internet, I just want to save it to a disk and have the slideshow work. Elsleluth2 in CA

You probably duplicated the first photo group in the photo page.
The photo page template doesn't work that way, although iWeb allows you to duplicate the photo group (into multi groups) but only one group is built into the slideshow.
iWeb allows 99 photos in one photo group, so you need to rebuild your photo page with all the photos in one photo group.

  • What is replacing iDVD and iWeb

    I noticed that iDVD or iWEB are no longer available in the App Store (If they ever were).  Does anyone know what Apple is recommending as software replacements for these  producs, or are they being up dated and not available yet?

    It is now is apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple since it's reported that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.  iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ RSS Feed Widget
    All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party optionsl  There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and myself have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    There's no telling how long the iLife 11 boxed disk will continue to include iWeb and iDVD but I would imagine until the current stock runs out.

  • Why did Steve decide to eliminate superior products like MobileMe and iWeb and not just raise the price?

    I've been looking into moving 3 web sites that I easily created using iWeb and Mobile me and it is unbarably difficult to use what non Apple users have to put up with.   I was so happy that I could throw a site together for someone and it would just work.   Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality.    Why didn't Apple just raise the price if it was unprofitable?     MobileMe and iWeb are a GREAT service to Apple customers.    I feel this discontinuation is very unfortunate for many.

    Actually, the discontinuation of MobileMe is an opportunity to move on to more professional website hosting and management.  MMe is just too social networking oriented and lacking in serious webstite hosting capability.
    Now I'm looking at 5 times the cost and 1/5th the quality
    You've got to be kidding!  Web hosting that has more hosting features that MMe had is readily available for as little as $3.95/mo. That's only $48/year - aboiut 1/2 of what MMe costs.  Included are a domain name, unlimited storage and transfer, subdomains, multiple email addresses, advanced security features and, something MobileMe never had, 24/7 actual ear-to-ear customer support! What a novel idea.  Actually quickly contacting and talking to a real person to get help on a problem.
    I moved about 30 websites from MMe to my new host in about an hour once the new server was setup. This describes how I did it: iW13 - Easily Transfer Website Folders From MobileMe to a 3rd Party Server.
    This tutorial explains how I host multiple sites with just one domain name: iW16 - Using HostExcellence.com with iWeb. The same can be done with subdomains but the folder method I used was easer in my opinion.
    Depending on your website's design and intented use iWeb an still be a viable web builder.  However, for more complex websites and connecting with mobile users one will have to begin using other applications.  Read the following:
    On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
    All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
    I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

    You can move you 3 websites to a new host in no time and save money doing it.

  • Slideshows on Gallery and iWeb

    Can I send a slideshow to either or both my .Mac Gallery or iweb site so others can view it?

    Yes and no. You can send your slideshow to iWeb to be included into an iWeb page. But for a web gallery you have to start with an album of photos (they can be the same album that you used to start your slideshow) and then create a web gallery from it. In essence you can have the same pictures in both items but they will slightly different. The web gallery will not have any of the fancy stuff you can put in a slideshow. Also the slideshow will be larger and take longer to load for anyone viewing that iWeb site.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can I make an aperture slideshow and use it in iweb?

    I need to know if I can make an aperture slideshow and use it in iweb (not making it a quicktime movie)? I don't want to use I photo (I know how to make one in Iphoto and put it in Iweb and I dont want to do this). (dont want a .mac gallery either) Please help. thank you!!!

    Aperture slide shows are just for review. They can not be output. TBMK
    Honestly, you've exhausted most of what iLife can do, and quicktime will probably be your output even if you go to Keynote to make your slide show.
    But with Keynote you'll have more control over how the Quicktime is compressed.
    Otherwise, you're looking at the expense AND the learning curve of Flash.
    Maybe someone else will chime in with a 3rd party solution.

  • How to publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb

    Is it possible to (or how do you) publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb created either in Aperture or iPhoto?

    Here's an example of E Books. They're created in iWork and loaded into iWeb as a compressed PDF for download. The photo of the front cover is used for the link.
    http://roddymckay.com/SongBooks.html
    http://www.maisonlavoie.com/Catalogue.html
    For a larger file, you can upload it to a folder on your server and create a link to it from your website.

    How do I Create a slideshow in Iweb with arrows to right and left, just like this link:

    Thanks in advance!

    It's done with java script. Here is one example on this demo page: AutoViewer which is created in iPhoto with the Flash Album Exporter plugin.
    Another source is Jalbum. It have over 100 skins/themes, one of which should match what you want.

  • Type display for slideshow and subscribe

    Visual concern only, but how do you change the clunky bold helvetica style of the >play slideshow and >subscribe links, and photo captions when viewed in iWeb? I want to make them more subtle, less bold. I can do it in iPhoto, but doesn't seem to translate to iWeb.

    no, not visually in iweb but can be changed when the page is online with javascript and understanding of photos page widgets: http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/CSSChanged/Photos.html

  • Slideshows in iweb

    Hello. I made a slideshow in iphoto. How do you put it into an iweb website and be able to use the features for slideshows in the inspector of iweb? Thanks.

    As pointed out above, the features for slideshows in iWeb's inspector are for slideshows generated from iWeb — not from iPhoto. But you can put your iPhoto slideshow in any iWeb template page by doing the following...
    Select your slideshow in iPhoto's panel on the left. Click on File > Export... and save the QT movie file to the Desktop. Then drag that .mov file from the Desktop to an iWeb page (any template). Then, to control your slideshow movie's appearance and behavior when it's viewed in a browser, click on iWeb's QuickTime Inspector tab.
    By the way, you can create a more efficient slideshow movie in iPhoto by selecting the photos you want included in the slideshow and choosing File > Export > QuickTime tab. As above, you would then drag the movie file to an iWeb page. With this approach you won't have so many configurable options, but the resulting slideshow movie file will be very small and thus quick to appear when your web page is viewed.

    How did you edit .js?
    Give this a try, edit this file:
    http://mysite.verizon.net/macericpet/Home/SlideShow_assets/openSlideShowWindow.j s
    Open it with text editor, you will find two functions:
    function openSlideShow(initialIndex)
    function openSlideShow2(initialIndex, language)
    You can swap them, rename openSlideShow to openSlideShow2
    and rename openSlideShow2 to openSlideShow

  • Using Aperture 3 slideshows on iWeb 09

    Hi - I am trying to use aperture 3 slideshows on iweb instead of flash but the quality is lacking - the sharm movie files are over 30mb so when compressed to around 10mb loses image quality
    see here : http://web.me.com/ruperteden/casasnaareia (click on image)
    the movies are slow to load on Firefox and do not load at all using Google Chrome ?
    Does anybody have a solution to increase image quality keeping files small enough ?
    Steve Jobs if you are reading this please can you come up with a solution quickly or I will have to revert back to Adobe Flash which like you I hate using !
    Thanks in advance !

    OK but the problem I am having is maintaining crisp image quality while compressing QT files of over 30mb generated by Aperture slideshow export ?
    also the movies only really play on Safari - other browsers are clumsy and slow ?
    Can anyone suggest an alternative ?

  • WOW Slider to add a slideshow to iWeb

    I came across WOW slider and wanted to put an automatic starting slide show into my site, however I am having some troubles and hope you may be able to help.
    I have created the slideshow and now want to place it WITHIN a page I already have on my site. This position is exactly the same place as the original video I have (see http://www.senkkifurniture.com.au/collection.html).
    I am following the help page Part 7 as it reads below http://wowslider.com/index.html#support)
    +Add WOW Slider inside your own page.+
    +WOW Slider generates a special code. You can paste it in any place on your page where you want to add image slider.+
    +    * Export your photo slider using WOW Slider in any test folder on a local drive.+
    +    * Open the generated index.html file in any text editor.+
    +    * Copy all code for WOW Slider from the HEAD and BODY tags and paste it on your page in the HEAD tag and in the place where you want to have a jquery slider (inside the BODY tag).+
    <head>
    +<!-- Start WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->+
    +<!-- End WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->+
    +... </head>+
    <body>
    +<!-- Start WOWSlider.com BODY section -->+
    +<!-- End WOWSlider.com BODY section -->+
    ...</body>
    I am using iWeb to build my website, have an iMac and run OS X 10.6.6. I run Firefox. Wow version 1.3.
    I am confused when it comes to “Copy all code for WOW Slider from the HEAD and BODY tags and paste it on your page in the HEAD tag and in the place where you want to have a jquery slider (inside the BODY tag).”. I have exported the wow slider to a test folder and opened the index.html. I’ve viewed the html which reads
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    *<title>WOWSlider generated by WOWSlider.com</title>*
    *<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />*
    *<meta name="keywords" content="WOW Slider, Image Slider Html, Image Slider In Html" />*
    *<meta name="description" content="WOWSlider created with WOW Slider, a free wizard program that helps you easily generate beautiful web slideshow" />*
    *<!-- Start WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->*
    *<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="engine/style.css <view-source:file:///Users/moniqueboseley/Desktop/test/engine/style.css> " media="screen" />*
    *<style type="text/css">a#vlb{display:none}</style>*
    *<script type="text/javascript" src="engine/jquery.js <view-source:<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="file:///Users/moniqueboseley/Desktop/test/engine/jquery.js>">file:///User s/moniqueboseley/Desktop/test/engine/jquery.js></a> "></script>*
    *<!-- End WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->*
    </head>
    *<body style="background-color:#ffffff">*
    *<!-- Start WOWSlider.com BODY section -->*
    *<script type="text/javascript" src="engine/script.js <view-source:<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="file:///Users/moniqueboseley/Desktop/test/engine/script.js>">file:///User s/moniqueboseley/Desktop/test/engine/script.js></a> "></script>*
    *<!-- End WOWSlider.com BODY section -->*
    </body>
    </html>
    I have then copied the html above in bold and placed it within a HTML snippet where I want it on my page, pressed apply then uploaded it to the net (see http://www.senkkifurniture.com.au/screen_dump.html). However this is how it comes out http://www.senkkifurniture.com.au/collection_2.html. There are no photos and definitely no slideshow.
    I would SO appreciate your help as i am about to pull my hair out.
    Thanking you in advance.

    Thanks Koeklin & Wyodor your answers have put me one step forward...yay
    http://www.senkkifurniture.com.au/collection_2.html
    I removed all the #'s from this line koeklin said however the link still seems to be there. I don't want any links, just photos fading from one to another.
    When i removed the whole line as in 2a (above in Koeklins answer) and the "a" bit all the images disappeared. Sorry couldn't cut and paste the sections exactly as they turned into links when i previewed it.
    Is there anyway to get rid of the wowslider.com on the photo? See http://www.senkkifurniture.com.au/collection_2.html
    *Here is the scrips as i have pasted it into my HTML Snippet:*
    <head>
    <!-- Start WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="engine/style.css" media="screen" />
    <style type="text/css">a#vlb{display:none}</style>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="engine/jquery.js"></script>
    <!-- End WOWSlider.com HEAD section -->
    <body style="background-color:#ffffff">
    <!-- Start WOWSlider.com BODY section -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="engine/script.js"></script>
    <!-- End WOWSlider.com BODY section -->
    <!--code_set--><script type="text/javascript">
    </script></body>
    Thanks again.

  • Play Slideshow and Subscribe links don't work in IE

    Hi, I published a site with the newest version of iWeb and the Play Slideshow and Subscribe links don't work for my friends who use IE. Also, only some of the pictures will open when clicked. Many of them do nothing when clicked.
    Here's an example:
    http://web.mac.com/jconstant/Scotland/Golfing.html
    The site works with Safari and Firefox (both Mac and PC) but people with several different versions of IE experience the same problem.
    Any ideas on how this can be fixed?

    Thanks for your reply. The problem is the whole page is one image and there should be several clickable areas which point to different links.
    To solve this we have put a textbox over the clickable area, disabled the background and stroke and then right clicked on the textbox and used the hyperlink option to turn the whole box in to a hyperlink.
    We tried several free PDF convertors which couldn’t handle this combination. Then we trailed it with the full desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Pro and it worked a treat. Unfortunately the client didn’t have that software so we signed them up to the online PDF convertor from Adobe and that isn’t handling it.
    Here's the sample document: Dropbox - sample-link.docx we have been doing the tests with.
