Slideshow background color

Can I change the background color (from black) for a slideshow created in iPhoto '11 ? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I purchase Aperture (where that option is available).
Thanks

Erik,

  • IPhoto slideshow background color

    Is there a way to change the background color in a Slideshow on iPhoto? It is currently black, and I would much rather have white.
    Thank you!

    No. But you can if you use some of the 3rd party slideshow applications. One, PhotoPresenter, can change it as well as offering over 25 animated themes. At $8 it's a bargain.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IDVD Slideshow Background color change

    I am working on a project where i have a slideshow that i want to have on my DVD. I have looked at all of the settings for iDVD and i have not see how to change the black default color of the background for the slideshow images. I would like to make it white vs black. I tried to make a slideshow in iPhoto and the some situation is there, no preference to change the slideshow's bg color. Is there anyone that had or knows how to change this preference. Thanks

  • Slideshow background color, way ugly

    Hello,
    Way back, when Lightroom still was a beta product I downloaded a copy and
    played with it for a while. Then I decided to use it, so I bought a copy of
    ver 1.0, went through all updates and now as everybody else I am on 1.41.
    My problem is that one of my early experiments with beta still haunts me.
    Playing with the Slideshow I created a background, a way ugly background.
    And now, years and thousands of photographs later I can not get rid of it.
    No matter what I do, if I open LR, select some pictures and hit instant
    slideshow my background is still with me.
    Yes, I can go the Slideshow panel, unclick the background and everything is
    fine. But I have no idea how to save a new setting as a new default.
    Maybe I just don't know where to look, but I think I exhausted all the menu
    items and mouse clicks.

  • Is there a way to change the WHITE background color of the photo gallery/COLLECTIONS to BLACK.  IPad 4 ios 7

    As a Professional Photographer, I chose to buy an IPad 4 for only one reason and that was the amazing color and clarity of the Photo Gallery as a mobile Portfolio.
    Originally the background color of the IPad 4 Gallery was BLACK and this facilitated the photos greatly, photos look better and stand out better on a BLACK background. White backgrounds cause a glare eminating from the edges of the photo and cause iris in our eyes to close down, degrading the quality of the photo being viewed.
    I updated to ios 7 and now my IPad 4 has a WHITE background, which is unacceptable for viewing photos.
    HOW DO I CHANGE the WHITE background on the Photo/Gallery/COLLECTIONS to BLACK?
    Apple should ALWAYS give USERS/OWNERS of their products control of such details. IT'S JUST GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

    Vancouver22  Thanks for your help... the SLIDESHOW turned black for me automatically when the slideshow began. That works most excellent!
    Now if I can just get the White Background to STAY BLACK, this might not be as painful as I feared.
    My IP4 does lag slightly, but not enough to set fire to it yet.
    The gallery/COLLECTIONS/ALBUMS are the most important thing to me.
    Thanks!

  • Footer now floating in middle of page and no background color

    Hello all,
    Been working on this for days with no luck. I hope someone can spot the silly mistake, because I know it has to be something silly but it's driving me round the bend! The page has always been just fine until I recoded part of the body (the four columns with titles, photos, and text) to help with 508 compliance. Since then, the orange footer that was firmly at the bottom has started floating half way up the page and the background orange color has disappeared.
    I've gone through my code line by line, marking off each beginning and ending div tag and everything is fine there. Below, is a screenshot of the lower half of the page showing how the footer should look.
    Here is a screenshot of how it looks offline right now:
    as you can hopefully see, the footer has lost it's orange background and is sitting halfway up the page.

    What I found after taking out the heights from the text areas is that I was left with uneven text column lengths (alternating beige areas). So I created a repeatable jpg with the same alternating beiges and put it as the background of the bodyArea tag. Again, if there is a better way, please let me know!
    A repeating background image to 'fake' equal height columns is perfectly ok.
    It won't work IF your page is responsive but it isn't so no problem. If it were responsive a better solution would be to take advantage of the css property display: table; and display: table-cell;
    In reference to your footer background color not showing I would assume you have floated items within the footer container. If so then you need to clear those floated items which allows the footer container to wrap itself around the floated items inside it.
    You would do this by using css - overflow: hidden; - on the parent container which has the floats inside it.

  • Awkward Background Color

    I just got a new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard installed. (ye~)
    I installed iWork '08 and tried Keynote, but I got some problem.
    On the editing mode, the background colors(or gradient) of themes look strange.
    They're kind of inverted, not exactly though.
    The colors look just normal on the slide show mode.
    I see a similar problem on Pages, too.
    I created a text box and typed in some letters, but I can't see them.
    If I drag on the text box, then I can know the letters are there.
    Changing font color doesn't work.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    I had a similar issue running iWork '08 and snow leopard on my macbook. I couldn't see the background unless I was viewing the slideshow. I just ran software update, and made sure everything was updated to the latest, and now it works fine.

  • Shatter theme background color

    I love the shatter theme... Only problem with it is its whie background color. I use this to show slideshow on lcd's in bar and the white kind of lights up the place... way too much.
    Is there any way at all to change this? Would be great to go from #ffffff to #000000..

    No you can't edit the Slideshow themes.
    There are other SIideshow apps that have a variety of themes. Check out PhotoPresenter for instance

  • No background color edges behind image on resize

    hi,
    I am making a slideshow background which adjusts to the width of the browser. However, whenever I resize the browser, the background color is visible for a moment along the edges. How can I get rid of this. I know that it is possible. If you look at the following site,  the images resize perfectly:

  • Linked Image with CSS Hover background Color Jerks in IE8

    Please see http://www.rrmuseumpa.org/about/musviews/index.shtml and hover over any of the five slideshow images, using IE8. Note that the hover causes a jerk when the assigned background color for hover kicks in, apparently by adding some vertical margin at botton. It's fine in all other browsers.
    What I want is for any image that serves as a link to not have a border and to not pick up the default hover background color, and to not cause the "jerk" in IE8.
    CSS file is at http://www.rrmuseumpa.org/css/main.css . Specific css would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Jim

    The very last style rule states
    /* HACK FOR IE: to stabilize appearance of menu items; the slash in float is to keep IE 5.0 from parsing */
    @media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;
    color: #FFF;
    This is a white backgorund and white text. Simply change the background colour to #2565B2

  • Discovery: Border color trumps project background color, sort of

    I just made an interesting discovery.  My project background is set to #FFFFFF white (Edit > Preferences >  Defaults > Background color) and my borders are set to the "company" orange (FF7900, REALLY orange).  During normal viewing all is okay.  However, if there's a lag between a published project ending and another loading, I see this gigantic orange box.  Aha!  if I disable my borders, I only see white during a loading transition.  Apparently the borders are filling in the area during preloading?
    I'll submit a feature request.  --Leslie

    In the Layout menu for two photos per page try selecting one of the top two options. That seemed to give me pink borders every time I selected it.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Change background color in slide show

    How can I change the background in slideshow from white to black?

    I think that the white colored photo templates may have slideshow backgrounds that are white, and black colored photo templates may have slideshow backgrounds that are black. If it is easy enough for you to drag your photos to a black photo template, that would be the first thing I would recommend that you try.
    Otherwise, the background color of the Apple slideshow seems to be controlled by a CSS file that is provided by the .Mac server. Remember that the slideshow function is .Mac only...this is because several of the resources are resident on the .Mac servers. If you want to make changes to the color of the background, I understand that it is necessary to override the CSS settings by adding another file after publishing (and everytime you republish). Here is a previous thread that sheds some light about the topic...

  • Slideshow background: how to add a vignette?

    I like the background on the slideshow preset called "Photo Edges", it's 95% gray in the middle and then it has darker colors, like a vignette. Even if you change the background color you're only changing the colors in the middle, the corners remain darker.
    I'd like that for the Classic slideshow as well, where I have more control over the slideshow compared to what "Photo Edges" offers me, but I can only find out how to change the background color and not add a vignette or darken the corners.
    Any ideas?

    Have you looked at Document -> Add watermarks & background... ?
    If you want to do it automatically, it's possible to set this up using the batch processing command, same thing, the command is "Add watermarks & background".
    It's probably possible using JavaScript as well, but, there's really no need if the "add watermarks and background" works for you.

  • Spry Slideshow Loading Color

    Hello, does anybody know if the Spry Slideshow Loading Color can be changed from Black?
    None of the CSS seems to affect it. Any help would be appreciated.

    In the HEAD section of your document you have
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
        background-image: url(Image/BG1a.png);
        margin-left: 20px;
        margin-top: 20px;
    #ImageSlideShow.ImageSlideShow {
        width: 200px;
        height: 133px;
        border: solid 1px #000000;
    #ImageSlideShow .ISSClip {
        background-color: #000000;
    </style>
    In the second and third selectors you have set respectively the border color and the background colour as black. Change those colours to suit.

  • How to give Common Background color for all JPanels in My Swing application

    Hi All,
    I am developing a swing application using The Swing Application Framework(SAF)(JSR 296). I this application i have multiple JPanel's embedded in a JTabbedPane. In this way i have three JTabbedPane embedded in a JFrame.
    Now is there any way to set a common background color for the all the JPanel's available in the application??
    I have tried using UIManager.put("Panel.background",new Color.PINK);. But it did not work.
    Also let me know if SAF has some inbuilt method or way to do this.
    Your inputs are valuable.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Nishanth.C

    It is not the fault of NetBeans' GUI builder, JPanels are opaque by default, I mean whether you use Netbeans or not.Thank you!
    I stand corrected (which is short for +"I jumped red-eyed on my feet and rushed to create an SSCCE to demonstrate that JPanels are... mmm... oh well, they are opaque by default... ;-[]"+)
    NetBeans's definitely innocent then, and indeed using it would be an advantage (ctrl-click all JPanels in a form and edit the common opaque property to false) over manually coding
    To handle this it would be better idea to make a subclass of JPanel and override isOpaque() to return false. Then use this 'Trasparent Panel' for all the panels where ever transparency is required.I beg to differ. From a design standpoint, I'd find it terrible (in the pejorative sense of the word) to design a subclass to inconsistently override a getter whereas the standard API already exposes the property (both get and set) for what it's meant: specify whether the panel is opaque.
    Leveraging this subclass would mean changing all lines where a would-be-transparent JPanel is currently instantiated, and instantiate the subclass instead.
    If you're editing all such lines anyway, you might as well change the explicit new JPanel() for a call to a factory method createTransparentJPanel(); this latter could, at the programmer's discretion, implement transparency whichever way makes the programmer's life easier (subclass if he pleases, although that makes me shudder, or simply call thePanel.setOpaque(false) before returning the panel). That way the "transparency" code is centralized in a single easy to maintain location.
    I had to read the code for that latter's UI classes to find out the keys to use (+Panel.background+, Label.foreground, etc.), as I happened to not find this info in an authoritative document - I see that you seem to know thoses keys, may I ask you where you got them from?
    One of best utilities I got from this forum, written by camickr makes getting these keys and their values very easy. You can get it from his blog [(->link)|http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2008/10/09/uimanager-defaults/]
    Definitely. I bit a pair of knucles off when discovered it monthes after cumbersomely traversing the BasicL&F code...
    Still, it is a matter-of-fact approach (and this time I don't mean that to sound pejorative), that works if you can test the result for a given JDK version and L&F, but doesn't guarantee that these keys are there to stand - an observation, but not a specification.
    Thanks TBM for highlighting this blog entry, that's the best keys list device I have found so far, but the questions still holds as to what specifies the keys.
