Slideshow button

Is there anyone who has a solution to the static "play slideshow" button in photo pages, or somehow a way around it?
At least in previous version you could move it around on the page. The ideal would be if you would be able to to hyperlink directly to the slideshow.

Identical problem on my G5, but it slideshow works fine on a G4 iMac and Intel Mac Book Pro. I'd like to know the fix also. I see a number of others are having the same problem.

Slideshow buttons move when re-open project

I have a window with 10 slideshow buttons. Each button has the text removed and is of the square type selected from the palette of buttons available. All the buttons have the 'free positioning' property set and I have aligned them across the screen in a grid formation. Everything looks fine until I close the project and re-open it. When I re-open the project, some of the buttons have moved to the centre of the screen, and all my work to painstakingly align then neatly has gone to waste.
Is there a property or setting I have missed?
Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for the advice - it seems to work find if I only have 6 buttons on a window, but this really limits what I can do. Perhaps I am going about things the wrong way. I have some video and about 80 pictures that I want to present in a menu so that the user can click on the thumbnail and then see the picture full screen. I am doing this by creating a slideshow button with just one slide. The user clicks the buttons and sees the picture for 10 seconds, not nice, but the only way I could see of displaying a still image. Is there any other way to do it?

Sorry this reply isn't about creating mannual slideshow button, but it might help solving what you want. You said you want to "lets the user

What I did with my slideshow:
1. Drag all the photos in the slideshow
2. Check all the boxes "PAUSE" (this way the photo will stay still until the user press "next" of "previous" button in the the remote/ dvd player controller button)
3. Duplicate the last photo (by dragging from the DVDSP browser)and put it after it's clone.
4. DON'T check the box "Pause" for this duplicate
5. Set the duration for this duplicate to 15 frames (00:00:00:15)
Set the slideshow to "jump to xxx menu" when finish.
Now, what happen is, when the slideshow starts, the user will see the first slide freeze, and they will manually go back or forth from the player control (not the button on the dvd menu). When it come to the last slideshow, and they hit "next" it will transist to it's clone (that you duplicated), this clone is set to automatically transist after 15 frames and jump to XXX.
To make the users more aware of the "possibility of going back and forth", or simply to tell the user what the next/ previous slide is, you can create dummy "button" (I just do it with arrow symbol or text "Next" and "Previous") in the appropriate position on the slide. This "button" is only to tell the user there is a next and previous, it doesn't interact. But what it does is making the user press "next" and "back" in the controller.

Mail 2.0.7 Slideshow button disappears

Often when I receive an email with attached pics, the save button is displayed but the slideshow button is missing (this is in both preview and when I open the message in its own window)
Restarting mail always fixes it, but obviously this shouldn't be necessary.
I see this behaviour on both my iMac G4 and Powerbook G4.

This tells us that it is unlikely to be related to
the particular attachment, since the full, expected
contextual menu is presented in both cases.
Agreed, when it happens, all attachments in all msgs are affected.
Will check for commonality across accounts, but I think that is also true.

Change color of the "slideshow" button while leaving the "subscribe" button

I just want my "slideshow" button to pop a little more for my computer challenged friends to know not to click thru all the photos, but click on the red "play slideshow" button. Can't figure out how to isolate and change it to red.

The 'Play Slideshow' button is a PNG image, this image changes depend on which theme you are using... so it is not easily to change it.
But, you can always have a bubble shape above it says: 'Click Me!'

No slideshow button

the slide show button is on the iWeb page but not on the web when viewed in Safari … where did it go ? …tried taking the generic iWeb page & uploading it to the web site & no slideshow button on that page either … any ideas as to what is happening ??? …………… (still using iWeb version 1.1.2 if it makes a difference)

Hi Nancy,
First make your window bigger by dragging the bottom right corner out and see if the settings and music icon appear. They could be under the >> in the toolbar.

Slideshow button not working

I'm not sure what's going on, but I am running iPhoto '08 7.1.5 (378) and just yesterday the slideshow button (the "play" button in the lower left of the UI) stopped working. I click it when I have a bunch of photos or an album selected and nothing happens. It did work up until yesterday.
Another odd behavior is that I can't get iphoto preferences to open either. I checked under the Window menu to make sure it wasn't opening off-screen or something odd like that.
Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Start with the troubleshooting basics:
1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
3. *As a Test*: Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Under the title I inserted the start slideshow button, but it's showing up as Made on a Mac! How can I fix this?!?!

Same thing is happening to me on one my photo pages (travel theme). I've tried moving it to different places and it still comes up with the "made on a Mac" button. In the inspector it shows the .tiff as the "slideshow.tiff" button so I just don't get it.

My slideshow button at the bottom of Orgainizer 13 main screen doesn't do anything.... Why not

I can select several photos and then engage this button and nothing happens. No slide show no nothing .... THis may be related to my problem where Create "slideshow" in the create menu only proceeds to the point of allowing me to select a slideshow theme but nothing happens after that.

Widget slideshow button link?

I am adding the Spry Content slideshow-wanderlust theme and am trying to add a link to the "Click for details" button, which is surrounded by span tags. How do I add a link to another page?

Try this:

Change 'folder/your_page.html' to the correct path/target page in your site. Pay particular attention to the 'single' and "double quotes".

Spry Content Slideshow buttons with IE8?

Hi,
Trying out the Spry Content Slideshow (Wanderlust Theme) 1.0. I insterted a link for one of the default buttons and it works in Firefox but not in IE8. On hover over or clicking does nothing.

Slideshow button in JS

I'm looking to build a slideshow where the user can click on a button and it will take them to a different page in the site.
This is my layout of what I'm wanting to do.
I would like to have a list for each picture of the slideshow and then a button that would take the viewer to that particular page. I think understand how add a link to the code, but I'm not sure how to change the text to go along with it.

RSS, Back and Slideshow buttons not displaying correctly

I just finished my new wesite in Iweb and published it to .mac. Everything is working fine in Iweb but when I look at the published site the RSS, Subscribe, Back buttons are displaying really screwy. There are added buttons where I didn't put them. How can I fix this? It is occurring specifically on my photo album pages.

Publish your site to and folder on the desktop and double click the index.html file to launch your site in the browser.
If the page looks OK do a "Publish all to Mac".
If its still not right you'll have to go back to the iWeb page and try resetting the buttons and then do a Publish All.

Slideshow button can't be seen after upgrade to iWeb 08

I have a website originally created in iWeb 07 - using the Roadtrip theme. Everything converted fine with minor changes - except the Play Slideshow icon.
The pages are dark brown - and in all converted pages, the Play Slideshow link is now an arrow with black text "Play Slideshow". The black text is barely visible (by the way - the new subscribe link is also black on these pages).
If I create a new page based on the theme - the "Play Slideshow" text is created in an off-white, which is visible.
I've tried disabling/enabling the slideshow feature hoping the icon would fix itself - but it still comes back up black.
Is there anyway to go back to the old icon (I actually liked the '07 icon much better) - or to change the appearance of this converted link so it is visible on each page? Since I can't select the Play Slideshow, I can't figure out how to change how it looks.

As it turns out, there was an issue with the application Smasher that comes with Font Agent Pro when you purchase it. When trying to clear the font caches if adobe acrobat is installed this can happen.
The solution for me was to remove smasher and reboot into safe mode and then restart.
So far it's working ok.

Idvd and slideshow buttons

After I create my custom IDVD and I check it in map view there is an extra slide there with the yellow triangle that says "menu contains no buttons" so I delete the slide and it says slide show is empty.Then I have to may my dvd over.

It is presumably referring to Chapter buttons.
