Slideshow crashes

The problem with slideshows crashing continues. I  have the same problem with music playing during a slideshow. First the music and then the slideshow crashes. This happens to  all my Apple devices after installing IOS 8.

Here's the only approach that works - at least until Apple decides that it should be comprehensive when fixing bugs in its OS.
When starting the slideshow, set the Transitions option to Oragami.  All of the other settings (fade, ripple, wipe) will eventually crash, but with Oragami, your slideshow will soldier on.
It's not a perfect solution, and it is certainly far from what a company with Apple's capabilities and standards should be offering, but at least it's an option.

  • IDVD slideshows crash Mac DVD Player

So, I created my movie in iMovie, exported it to iDVD 8, and then I added two slideshows.
One slideshow has 110 pictures and the other slideshow has about 12 pictures.
Both slideshows play perfectly in iDVD preview mode and on my Panasonic DVD player.
But, when I try to play either slideshow on my MacBook Pro, both slideshows crash the Mac DVD Player.
I'm very frustrated with this. You would think that a DVD I create on my Mac can at least play on my Mac!
Any help will be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

It's nice to know that someone is seeing a similar problem...misery
    loves company!
I've been creating slideshows in iDVD by dragging and dropping pictures
from iphoto, and the slideshows work great in the iDVD preview, on
my Panasonic DVD player, and my Playstation 2. But, the DVD crashes
the Mac DVD Player EVERY time. I've have problems with the DVD Player
in previous release, so this wouldn't surprise me. But, it would be nice
if the player worked with DVDs created by Apple's own software.
    Paul
Hi there, I've just installed iLife 08 on my iMac 20" 2.16, OS 10.4.10 with all
the updates through software update and I get the same problem before even
burning a disc! Any slideshow exported to iDVD from iPhoto makes the programme
bug out when you use the iDVD preview. Same photos dragged into iDVD to make the
slideshow there work fine. Also tried exporting quicktime from iPhoto and
importing into iDVD that way - also causes the crash (I don't even get a 'quit
unexpectedly' message) - there's obviously some problem with quicktime.

  • Slideshows crash iPhoto

    Hello,
    FYI, I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4 (263) and OSX 10.4.3.
Somehow part of my iPhoto database has gotten corrupted. What I mean by this is that I can still use all of my albums and my pictures are still there, but a few of the slideshows crash iPhoto. If I select one in the source selection list (left pane), I get the pinwheel [of death] for less than half a second and then an abrupt iPhoto death. I don't think any of the photos that were in the slideshow still exist in the library, which is why I'm trying to delete the slideshows.
I know that 99.999% of the people really SHOULD NOT do this, but just for fun, I backed up a copy of my iPhoto library, opened ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/AlbumData.xml in Property List Editor.app (which really needs to be threaded better IMHO -- expanding a list of 5000+ items takes forever and has no progress bar), and removed the Albums under "List of Albums" which had an "Album Type" of "Slideshow". Opening iPhoto back up, the slideshows were still there and I still had the same problem. So I restored the original iPhoto Library (including the AlbumData.xml file).
Any recommendations on how to remove these corrupt Slideshows (which are really only taking up screen real-estate, if anything)?
    Thanks!

    Hi toadgee
I am not sure if this will help but it wouldn't hurt. Try a rebuild of the library.
    Try this:
Before doing a rebuild make sure iPhoto's trash bin is emptied. You can do this by control clicking on the trash bin, or from the menu bar under iPhoto.
    Close iPhoto
    Duplicate the iPhoto Library folder
Drag the duplicate to the desktop (hopefully you have enough room on your hard drive for the duplicate.)
Launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys until you see the rebuild options screen.
Choose the first three options. If you were missing photos in your library, also choose the last option. Be advised that you will get a roll of orphaned photos and it might be quite huge. Most of them will already be in your iPhoto library, but use caution when deleting anything from this roll until you are sure the photos are still in your library in another place. It might be a good idea to share/export this roll of photos just in case you need to import them again.
Back to the rebuild, depending on the size of your library it might take some time. When it is done, hopefully your photos will be there.
You might see some unexpected results as I did when I did a rebuild. Photos had been moved to wrong dates, video clips had lost their duration info and some were even orphaned from the jpg pointer file. It took me some time to straighten it out again.
This is the reason to make a duplicate before you rebuild, in case you do not like the result. If you don't like the result, close iPhoto, then delete the rebuilt library and drag the duplicate back into the Pictures folder making sure the name is iPhoto Library. Launch iPhoto and it should open the library in the Pictures folder.
iPhoto 4 or later: Rebuilding the iPhoto Library
let me know how it turns out.

  • HT203082 Slideshow Crashes Photos in iOS 8 on iPad

Whenever I start a slideshow in iOS 8 on my iPad, it plays normally for 2-3 minutes and then crashes the Photos app.  Any thoughts on a workaround?
I am using a 3rd generation iPad running iOS 8.02.  Thanks.

My iPad2 works great now after IOS 8.1 Update
    NO problem with Slide Show
This might be a reason why so many iPads won't Update right.
While the iOS 8.1 just consumes around 90MB of space, you need at least 5GB of free space to initiate the download."
Go to Settings, General, Storage, Manage Storage and you will see how much space each App uses.
I did my iPad2 16GB update thru iTunes on my iMac with 8GB of memory and it was sucking the iMacs memory very low during the update. Safari froze before loading the first web page and I did a hard boot and went fishing as I saw where it was going to take a long time to recover. When I tried again it wasn't quite right and then did one more hard boot and then did a Reset by going to General-Reset-"Reset all Settings" and it works real well now without loosing any data and in-home wi-fi clocks at 17Mbps download. I backup my iPad on my computer. Probably like most of you I’m sticking with OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks as it gets the job done very nicely and don’t need all that extra fancy stuff that probably will slow things down.

  • Overlay Creator - Slideshow crashes InDesign

    Hi Folks,
another Problem with DPS, not sure if its because of OS X Lion, because it wasn't before. The second Im clicking on choosing Folder with pictures in the Overlay Creator ->Slideshow everything crashes...
Anybody an idea? Trashing prefs didn't help. Creative Suite 5.5

Of course this doesn't help you ;-) but I am experiencing exactly the same issue. Have tried reinstalling also with no luck.

  • Photoshop elements 8 slideshow crashes

I created a new slideshow.  I was ready to put it to "outPut" and it crashed.  When I go back into it, everyting is still there but when I try to do anything like "play", it crashes.  The other slideshows are okay when open them up.  What happened.

    1. Reduce the image size 1000 x 750 if you are using high resolution images.
    2. Update video and audio drivers in your machine.
    3. Remvove high resolution videos if you are using in slideshow (AVDHD, HD)
    4. Check audio files are windows supported auidio codecs.

  • Adding song to PSE10 Slideshow crashes program.

Very simple issue, hopefully a simple fix.
My customer had a Windows 7 C2Quad system, upgraded to a custom built AMD FX Quad system. On the old system, he had both PSE8 and PSE10 Installed. He was able to add songs from his iTunes to a PSE10 slideshow no problem.
Now with his new system, he only has PSE10 installed, and when he adds a song from iTunes to a PSE10 slideshow, it freezes and crashes.
I don't have the computer in front of me, and these are notes coming from him. Any ideas? Is there some conversion utility or codec he might be missing? When installing PSE10, it was simply installed from Disc 2(the x64 disc), and no other disc was inserted. Again, PSE8 is not installed. He is using Win7 x64.
    Thanks gents!
    -Blacker.

I will forward that idea to him, thanks! The only reason I'm not sure that's going to be the reason is he said he was using the exact same files(meaning, same songs) from the old PC. The files were transferred from the old PC to the new one, but I wouldn't think that would cause any issue.

  • Slideshow crashing and acting in bizarre ways

I'm seeing very strange behavior in the slideshow module. When I hit "Play", the slideshow begins but after a a few images it skips back and starts looping between two or three images and doesn't progress forward. It doesn't seem to matter where I start the slideshow (at the beginning with the first image, in the middle, or towards the end). I tried quitting and restarting LR, and I also tried restarting my computer. Neither helped.
Also, LR crashed twice while trying to play the slideshow.
It is rather large (200 images), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
I'm on a fast Mac Pro with 10 GB of RAM running LR 1.4.
    Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks for posting the question I came here to ask too! I have the same problem. The slide show sometimes last for 50 images, then it turns in loop around a few. It didn't crash yet. I have not been able to find the culprit. iMac dual core, 2,5GB Ram, images on external USB2 drive.

  • Lightroom slideshow crashes on iMac 5k

I have had the new iMac 5k for two weeks now, and experience a problem with the Slideshow module crashing consistently when playing horizontal images from Nikon D800E / D810.  Horizontal Olympus EM-1 images are fine.  Any vertical oriented images too.
On my older 2010 iMac 27 the Slideshow module play the same images without any problems.  I hoped the 5.7 upgrade would fix this, but it didn't.
    Anyone else experiencing the same?
    BR Vetle

I was chat with Adobe tech support for 1 hour 36 minutes complaining of the same issue,  slide show crashes Lightroom. I too am running on a new IMac Retna.  This sounded like the first time the tech rep heard of the problem.  He was going to talk to his supervisor and get back with me.  He saw the crash log and also saw the slide show crash LR.  He took control of my computer and ran the program.  So they hopefully are working on the issue.  I also have a Macbook pro and the same photos will run fine on it.  It is running LR version 5.2 camera raw 8.2.  The error report is many pages long.

  • IPhoto slideshow crashes

When working with slide shows, iPhoto crashes all the time (daily), appr. after 10-30 minutes or after about 3-400 pictures. This is very irritating as I use iPhoto both as a job with demonstrations and shows, or personal. The problem came after installing the new version of ilife/iPhoto last year (version 8.1.2.).
As the problems go on I must seriously think of giving up Apple and convert to a an operating system which not make creates such trouble when operating but I hope it can be solved as iPhoto is a very fine tool.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
Next, try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
Next, if necessary create a new library and see if you can create and play a slideshow in it. If not then a reinstall of iPhoto may be warranted. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.
It wouldn't hurt to reapply the Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update (Combo) updater following by a permissions repair.

  • LR 6 CC systematic slideshow crash

Whenever I attempt to start a slideshow in LR 6 CC using either Ctrl-Enter or the slideshow module, then LR crashes after displaying it is preparing the previews.
I tried to remove the preference files as suggested as a mean to start from a clean state. That did not change a thing. I tried a different set of pictures and that did not make a difference either. Rebooting the system did not solve this. Note that graphical acceleration is not in use.
I can still start a slideshow with LR 5 and play it without any issue.
Has anyone an idea on how to solve this crash issue?

This is still an issue on my side.
How do I get @Adobe support to look at this?

  • Lightroom 5.3 Slideshow Crash

Every time I try to do a slideshow Lightroom crashes.  The first time it crashed during the slideshow.  Now it crashes at the end of the slideshow.  I am running on a PC with Windows 7.
Does anybody have any suggestions.  I tried deleting my previews and still had the same problem.
    Thanks,

Well, I've found a solution for this that works for me. It came from another post on the forum on same topic: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6002108
Basically, you need to delete the Previews.lrdata file associated with the Catalog you're trying to use the Slideshow on/with. Then open the Catalog and let LR rebuild the previews. Slideshow should now work ok.
Very disappointed that no-one from Adobe has taken the time to acknowledge this issue or even have the courtesy to give paying customers some basic support on this.
Not good Adobe. Stop counting your Creative Cloud cash and get back to work.

  • In LR 4, the slideshow crashes when I add music.

I've updated Lightroom to 4.4, tried previewing, tried just exporting before previewing. It plays the slideshow without music.  It worked fine 5 days ago. What can I do?

  • PSE 8.0 Slideshow crashes when I attempt to add music

I'm running windows 7, PSE 8 works fine right up until you add music then it crashes everytime. Any ideas? Conflict with other programs?

I have a similar problem. I've just got PSE 8 to go with my new Win7 machine and all goes well except the slide show function. I already owned PSE 6 and now both versions crash (when loaded separately) when I launch slide show. My workaround is to open a previous slide show (created under XP) and edit that. However the slide show is still unstable and crashes regularly, especially when I add music (both my own files and those that came with PSE8). Even when I can add music I can't hear it in the slide show preview function. I know it's there because I can see it in the audio bar and hear it in the properties section. However, when I try to preview a slide show, there is no sound (at this point it regularly crashes). I've attempted to apply some suggestions from the Adobe knowledegbase but there is obviously an incompatibility somewhere (and my bet is with WIn7), I've tried to report it to Adobe but because I mentioned both PSE 8 and PSE 6 (which they no longer support) they don't seem interested.

  • Slideshow crashes IE on PC's!

I just built a webpage with iweb and some friends of mine tried to view it with their XP machines and it would freeze up their IE browsers on their XP machines. I took it off the site because I don't want this problem on the website. But a fix would be great, it's a nice feature.

I built a Imovie slide show with beatle music for backround and put it on my .Mac site as a Podcast. I can hear it just fine on my mac, but when I subscribe and down load it onto my pc it crashes iTunes.
