Slideshow Editor

How do you find the slideshow editor? I have selected images, set up slide show. In the split view screen I do not have the controls on the right side such as export on the right top (as shown in the manual) I do not have the buttons on the bottom right of the screen (which i believe turns on the editor). It does not appear in any drop down menu that I can find. I have selected the images and it plays. The controls in the left side (task bar) are there as shown in the manual, the controls are not on the right top or bottom. Can you help. Thanks.

There's a feature that allows you to see the Slideshow album as you would any other album so that you can work on the images. You may have that button checked.

  • How do I reconnect missing files in the Slideshow Editor?

I created a slideshow and set up everything (pan/zoom, size, etc) and it worked fine.
I saved the project before closing it and had created an output video at 800x600. For some reason I could not create the 1024x768 video.
After shutting down for the night I tried to reopen it again and see if the 1024x768 would work. We will be showing this video on a 12 foot screen of this 1024x768 dimension pixel size… so I like to save it at that dimension.
When I opened the “Slideshow Editor” many of the pictures were missing. I was able to reconnect the pictures in the “Organizer” but they are still missing in the “Slideshow Editor”. It appears that the pictures that are missing are all from one windows folder. Another folder contents are fine.
    FYI:
For some reason the pictures had shown up as linked to my external drive… where I have my backup files.
I did get them all linked (reconnected) in the Organizer to my C drive but they still do not show up in the “Slideshow Editor”. I did change (in windows) the file location of these files to get the project better reorganized. That probably kicked off the disconnect in the first place.
Is there some way to get all of these pictures in the “Slideshow Editor” reconnected? It is going to take about 5 hours of work to redo this project if I can not reconnect to these files. Since it was so easy in the Organizer it seems like there should be a way to do this in the “Slideshow Editor”.
I am using “Windows XP” and “Photoshop Elements 8”.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I know i can do that... the point is i do not want to spend 5 more hours rebuilding the project.
What you are suggesting is just that... starting over.
I would like to correct the problem in the "Slideshow Editor".

  • Missing functions in Slideshow Editor?

I am (clearly) a novice Aperture user, and am struggling with the Slideshow Editor Default Settings set up.
I would like to add text to various slides in a slideshow. BUT...
I have looked through all the booklet and online help with regards to adding text to a slide, so have selected the 'Slideshow Settings Button' and page 143 shows the text functions I need, but in my 'Default Settings' pane the 'Transition' options and the 'Text' options are missing. (Only Aspect Ratio, Background and Play slide for X seconds is showing) Can you add these other options manually? If so - please help!
Many thanks, please forgive my daft question, but I just gave up looking for it!

    Nathan,
You are a superstar, and looking at my slideshow theme selections - absolutely spot-on! None of the 3 I'd set up were 'Classic' or 'Ken Burns', so I've swapped themes and can now do what I needed.
Thanks everso, and have a lovely New Year.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 Slideshow Editor Sucks

I just upgraded from version 11 and I am VERY, VERY disappointed with the slideshow editing capability.  I've been a loyal PSE user for many years and have loved the creative control with the slideshow editor.  Version 13's slideshows are pitiful.  There is no way to add pan and zoom individually, can't add music and fit to slides, can't add blank slides and text for titles, can't change transition effects, etc.  What were the developers thinking?  Can I downgrade to version 12?  I purchased the software at Best Buy.

I am getting extremely frustrated with Adobe  ---- one more time.   My slide show in 13 does not function beyond allowing me to select a theme.  Once selected, nothing happens other than returning me to the organizer screen.  I spent a wasted hour on Adobe chat  being informed that they are only trained for download issues and essentially know nothing about slideshows in 13
So with no help.... I will have to give up the slideshow functionality unless someone with knowledge can reply here to get it working.   I believe it worked a month ago when I first tried it   but now it has nothing .... no preview nada.  .    Looks like I am out of luck.

  • PS8 Win Slideshow editor existing sound caption ignored

I have a slide with a sound caption.  It plays fine from thumbnail view by clicking on the thumbnail speaker icon and from the property panel speaker icon and also in the full screen view in a slideshow  but it is ignored when I try to create a slideshow with the slideshow editor and play it.  I have checked the box in Slideshow preference for include audio caption as naration but when I play slideshow it doesn't play either with/without music background.  When I click on the mike icon on Extras bar, there is 00:00:00 time shown for the caption.  I can record a new audio for the slideshow and that works fine but I want to play the existing audio clip/caption that I can play in a full screen slideshow.  If I record a new clip and click box to save narration as audio caption, it replaces my old audio
Anyone have idea of how to make work or is this a bug.

I think that it is a bug and I suspect that it also existed in some previous versions.
My general observation is that Adobe is not spending much effort (or perhaps no effort) on either the slide show creation or on audio captions. So my observation is that this problem you are experiencing has "double jeopardy".
If you want to experiment - you could try
1-- first makeng a copy of the audio file that now contains the photo associated caption for safe keeping: place it in a folder structure outside of Elements
2-- make an audio file of the same lengh by recording from within the slide show editor while positioned on that photo
3-- copy the contents of the audio file that you copied in step 1 and replace the current contents of the audio file created in step 2
Will this work? I don't really know, but if you do want to try we could discuss further. Initially I am not really sure if you want to take the choice of "save narration as audio clip" in step 2 - I think perhaps NOT.
Also I am curious, do you have any previous versions of Photoshop Elements installed? If yes, was the caption associated with the photo file recorded in a previous version of PSE or was it recorded on your camera with its associate photo file?

  • PE 9 Slideshow editor window is locked half off screen

In Photoshop Elements 9 I was editing a slideshow in Organizer on a  dual monitor setup.  In the slideshow editor window,  I clicked the full  screen option, and  the window moved to a position on the right of the  screen, half off the screen (see attached pic).  I can't use it in that  position, nor move the window back, nor resize it.
I've restored all the defaults I can think of, restarted the program,  rebooted the computer, but still when I open slideshow editor, the  editor window is locked in that unusable position.
How do I move the window, reset the default position, or erase whatever file tells PE9 to place the window there?

    Partial solution
I got PE9 working by deactivating the second monitor and then reopening  PE9 on one monitor.  Then when I edit the slideshow, the edit window  opens on the primary monitor, and continues to do after I reactivate the  second monitor, so I can do the editing.
The problem now is that the edit window fills the entire screen, and  there doesn't appear to be a way to get it back to its original size,  ie, I can't shrink the window.  Any ideas?

  • Moving multiple slides in slideshow editor

I am creating a slideshow with Photoshop Elements and I have hundreds of slides imported into the slideshow.
My question is how can I move more than one slide at a time. I have tried Ctrl, cut, paste and it will only move one slide at a time. I have whole groups of pictures that I need to reorder. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

My first conclusion is that making a WMV file is better choice now because you seem to be short on time and short on hard drive space. In the Output command parameters to save as a WMV file, I would choose the largest dimension choice (on your system it may be 800x600).
However be aware that making a WMV file will still take a long time for that many slides from high resolution photos. And we will not know if you have sufficient disk space until you try.
--What is the total size of this hard drive that has only 11% free?
Yes, do work on freeing up more space.
Making a video DVD would take more time, additional software and probably more disk space during the process of making the DVD. That is why I do not recommend it for you now. It could be done later when you are under less time pressure.
PDF slide shows have the following limitations
-- can not use pan and zoom on the slides
-- can not effectively time the music or other audio to specific slides
-- not all transitions are available
So unless you can not successfully make a WMV file, I doubt that a PDF file is your best choice.

  • Slideshow editor dissapeared...how to repair ?

Maybe a little difficult to explain, but her i go:
Today i was working with slideshows. Chose some photos, new slideshow, classic theme selected. Everything works ok, running in split view, so i had the timeline below, actual slide in top and the settings/adjustment panel at right in top...you know where to set timing of slides, choose music etc.
But after an hour or so, the adjustments panel (where you can set timing, text, choose music) dissapeared and the actual slide is now shown top/right. I was working with inserting black slide, move it around, when the slideshow adjustment panel dissapeared.
Restart of aperture do no good, cant find any window to turn off/on.....
What to do ? (can you hear the panic in my text ?)
According to Aperture help: " click the Slideshow Settings button..."
That button is not available/visible, and the export button is not visible... so....genuine failure in software...or ? How to repair ? How to make sure presets, plugins and library is not damaged/lost ?

    Thanks, Kirby
I already tried closing/reboot, did it again, same problem.
Discovered that it is not only slideshow which is queer, it is also in normal views of photos.
Tried to create new slideshow, same problem,
The screen is right-placed, and icons is not there.

  • How to save a video/slideshow project on my PC in a format that is still editable in elements?

I'm trying to save a file as a back-up so I need to save it to my PC in a file format that is editable in elements 8

Simply save the project file from the slideshow editor interface, after adding your video and stills.
To find your saved projects type PSESS into the Organizer search bar.

Just bought Photoshop Elements 13...I'm trying to make a slideshow but can't figure out how to alter duration time that the slide is on the screen.  They presently move from one to another way too quickly...also need a different pan and zoom option.  Where are all the options I had in PS10?  Also...Can I burn this to a DVD?

The changes have brought improvements but also drawbacks compared with the old slideshow editor.
The templates are now fairly fixed but I find the “Classic Dark” gives reasonable results with some panning and you can click the audio button and browse you PC for any track. Unfortunately there are only three speed choices linked to the music track. The improvement for most people is that you can now export to your hard drive at 720p or 1080p and upload to sites like YouTube and Vimeo.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - Slideshow in 16x9 widesceen option?

I have Photoshop Elements 8 & Premeire Elements 8 and I love them but I'm leaning towards upgrading to 10 based on the new features.  The one thing that will convince me to do so will be if I will be able to create slideshows in a true 16x9 widescreen format using Photoshop Elements Organizer.  I called Adobe sales about this (twice!) but after being transferred in circles and put on hold for an hour, I figured I'd get a better response from my fellow users here.
    Thanks in advance!

In the slideshow editor, when you click output and edit with premiere elements you will get black bands at the top and bottom of the frame, and possibly the sides depending on the original aspect ratio of your photos. However you can scale the frames in premiere elements by clicking in the main window and dragging the corner handles of the transform bounding box. Hold down the shift key and drag one corner to constrain proportions. Some cropping may be necessary but you can certainly fill the screen. I use it when I mix video and stills so the frames all play uniformly on wide screen presentation.
Wow!  A great workaround since there doesn't seem to be an option for aspect ratio.  I tried your advice and it works quite well on most of the photos in the slideshow.  Some of the photos that have portrait orientation get too clipped though.  I suppose I'll need to convert them prior to importing them into the project.  Thank you very much!

  • What's the difference where you make your slideshows?

Does anyone know if there is a difference if you make your slideshow in iPhoto (then export to iDVD) or if, while you're in iDVD, you make your slideshow there.? Also, rumour has it you can make slideshows in iMovie...hmmm...anyone know the differences??
p.s. is there still a limit of 99 photos per slideshow album using iPhoto or iDVD?
    Thanks!

    iPhoto > iDVD6
Exporting iPhoto slideshow to iDVD (from the Help Menu):
You can transfer an iPhoto slideshow or album, including its background music and transition effects, directly from iPhoto to iDVD to create a DVD slideshow.
To export a slideshow to iDVD:
Select a slideshow or album you want to export.
Chose Share > Send to iDVD.
Your slideshow opens in iDVD with the same name as its iPhoto name.
In iPhoto before playing a slideshow, you can specify the display duration for each slide, choose transition effects, add background music, and more.
    Using slideshows created in iPhoto
You can easily create slideshows in iDVD by dragging images or albums from your iPhoto library into your iDVD project.
You can also use a slideshow created in iPhoto in your iDVD project. The slideshow is imported into iDVD as a movie, and you can't edit or change it using the iDVD slideshow features.
Using iDVD6 to create a slideshow
As an iDVD slideshow (within iDVD6)
You can use the slideshow editor to create a slideshow using your iPhoto albums or images stored in other places on your computer.
Your DVD can have up to 9,801 images in one or more slideshows, depending on the amount of other content on the DVD.
Using iMovie for a series of still images > iDVD6
You can also use iMovie to build a series of images like this:
Adding photos from your iPhoto library
You can easily add photographs from your iPhoto library to use in a movie or to create a slideshow of favorite photographs.
To add a photo from your iPhoto library:
Click the Media button, and then click Photos at the top of the Media pane.
Choose your iPhoto library or any item within your library.
Tip: You can also search for a photo by typing text in the search field. As you type, photos that contain the text you entered appear in the Photos pane. To see all photos again, click the Reset button (an "x" in the search field).
Select the photo you want to add to your movie.
In the Photo Settings window, drag the duration control to change the display duration for your photo.
If you want to pan across your photo, or zoom in or out on it, you can apply the Ken Burns Effect to it. To learn how, see "Adding motion to a photo".
To add the photo to your movie, drag it from the Images pane to the clip viewer or timeline viewer.
You can also add multiple photos to your movie at the same time by selecting more than one photo. This is useful when building a slideshow of your photos. To learn how to select multiple photos, see "Selecting clips".
After you add a photo to your movie, you can change its display duration, crop it, and add motion to it at any time.

is there still a limit of 99 photos per slideshow album using iPhoto or iDVD?
    To quote Len Goff:
These days it's the limitation of players, since Apple removed that DVD Forum spec.
I don't know about you, but I want a way to access a slideshow "topic," rather than wading through 1000 images to see one at 342.
Is there a way to add more than 99 photos to a chapter
If you have Toast, use Motion Pictures HD, or build in iMovie, or build in iPhoto and export as QuickTime file.

  • Burn slideshow to dvd

Found out Elements 12 can not burn a slideshow of still pictures with music to a DVD that can then be played on a DVD player.   Appears I have to buy Premiere as well.  Please confirm.

When you've completed your slideshow, click the Output button at the top of the slideshow editor and you should see this window:
Choose to make a wmv file rather than a pdf, and that's the file you send to your burning software.
