Slideshow export - how to fit it in 720 X 576 video project?

I want to use a slideshow in my video in fcpx - I try to export it to 720 X 576, which are my video settings, but it doesnt work. Aperture just overrides my resolution. What should I do?

Thanks. Yes, I need to downscale it, but the problem is that Adobe Premiere probably doesn't have the best codecs to downscale and retain best quality available. That's why I found so many tutorials online using 10 programs at the same time to do it. What I am finding harder to do is to convert from 16:9 to 4:3. Once I have my 4:3 HD footage I can then use one of those tutorials to downscale it to best quality I can have. Do you agree? Or is it better to just do it in Premiere? I really want to letterbox it, I don't want to pan and scan. I want my video to be presented in scope.
Thanks

  • How do I remove the sound from a video project and replace with music...?

Hi there to all...I would like to know how you remove the original sound from a movie (using iMovie) so you dont hear it through any music added...?

Select the video clip and open the clip inspector to the video tab. You can set the volume slider to zero.
You can apply this to a bunch of clips at once.
    Do the first one.
    Then Edit/Copy.
Then Select the clips to apply it to by select while holding command key. (or EDIT/SELECT ALL to get all clips)
    Then EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS/AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS

  • How do I apply captions/subtitles to my video project?

Adding subtitles or captions to my timeline in premiere has not been easy. I called adobe and they said 'premiere pro does not support subtitles and even if you add captions, it will only play in VLC media player'.
I've seen youtube tutorials on how to apply captions by downloading subtitle software, yet every time I download these softwares and make timed subtitles adobe won't let me import them.
Can anyone please help me? For such a simple effect that you can use in FCP7 Premiere make it bloody difficult!

When you refer to "captions' I take it that you mean "Closed Captions" -- this is text that is in a data stream, and not part of the frame/ video.
It is very straightforward to adding Closed Captions to projects in Premiere Pro. You don't have to download anything.
Try this out -- it has all the information you need to get started: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Closed Captioning
When you refer to "subtitles' I take it that you mean "Open Captions" -- this is text that is 'burned in', or part of the frame/ video.
Premiere Pro does not support Open Captions at this time.
Thanks for posting here and good luck!

  • How to get photos show up in a video project?

Hi! I'm trying to import photos from a Canon Powershot SX210 IS into a movie project. I first imported the photos into iPhoto library and photos show up in the project, then I drag and drop then into the project timeline but once I play the video project it only shows black instead of the videos. What do I have to do? Do the photos have to be in certain file format / certain size? Now the photos are raw 14 megapixel monsters. Thanks for help!

I have the same problem and it's not just when I input photos but even when I add a transition at the beginning of the show.

HOW TO FIT PAGE TO SCREEN?

S-Video is Standard Definition Video only, and assuming you and your TV are in NTSC land, that is a maximum of 720x480 pixels.  Pretty small/low resolution.  You need to use a different input to your TV, like VGA (or "PC" as it is sometimes referred to on TVs) - i.e. a blue multipin connector with 3 rows of 5 pins each row?
... or get an HD TV, or a proper computer monitor.

  • Slideshow will not export how do i fix this?

in iphotoslideshow will not export how do i fix this?

Back in your own account try this:
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download IPhoto Library Manager 4 for OS XC 10.6.8 and iPhoto  8.1.2 and later  or iPhoto Library Manager 3 (for OS X 10.5.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5 and earlier) and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu (iPLM 3) or Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu (iPLM 4) option.
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

    Hi cortiz58,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of iMovie are you working with?  Is your end goal that you need to play the file on a Windows computer, or is it that you need to burn the file to DVD?
See this link for tips to re-wrap your file for Windows:
How to create a video for playback with Windows/XBox/PS3/… etc?: Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5781
If you export the iMovie file as a .mov file, you can play it in iTunes for Windows on your PC.
If you want the ability to burn to DVD, then you may consider downloading the free 30 day trial of our professional video application.  Final Cut Pro X can import your iMovie project and burn it to DVD.

  • Best settings for iPhoto Slideshow Export

My aim is to export an iPhoto slideshow (iPhoto ‘11 v9.3.1) and import into the FCP7 sequence with the best possible quality.
Original video source - Sony camcorder - DV PAL (16.9 anamorphic) imported into FCP7 with a sequence preset of DV PAL 48 KHz Anamorphic (720 x 576)
    Stills for slideshow - 3648 x 2736 Jpeg
I realise I will lose significant quality to fit the restraints of the DV sequence and so after some tests the best result was through a custom export from iPhoto
    Compression - H.264
    Frame rate changed to 25
Keyframes & data rate - Automatic
    Quality - Best
    Encoding - Best Quality (multi-pass)
    Size - 768 x 576 SD
    A few thoughts -
Are there other settings for better results?
The resulting QT movie had a slightly inferior quality inside Final Cut than when played outside with Quicktime Player
Any movement over the stills created a strobing/flickering effect inside Final Cut - I have never been able to sort this problem out and now no longer set keyframes to move over stills.
I have tried a third party software (Industrial Revolution CoverFlux2) with no great improvement re flickering problem and general quality
The sequence is 16.9 but any attempt to export the slideshow to fit (eg 720 x 576 16.9) stretches the images.

Original video source - Sony camcorder - DV PAL (16.9 anamorphic) imported into FCP7 with a sequence preset of DV PAL 48 KHz Anamorphic (720 x 576)
    Stills for slideshow - 3648 x 2736 Jpeg
You're already in FCP7 so why go to iPhoto and then back to FCP?  That just adds layers of encoding which will reduce the final image quality.  As TD pointed out keep it in FCP

  • How to fit video to DVD-5?

Hi: I have been reading the faqs and forums, and pulling info from a variety of sources, but I am still confussed about how to fit my video to a DVd-5 using Encore. I have previsouly made DVds using Encore 1 & 2.0, so I know the process. But those were smaller projects under 1 hour running time. My current project is approaching 100 minutes for the main feature with small extras, and some basic menus.
I have read that I should be able to fit 110-130 minutes max on a DVD-5. I have also read to realistically expect something closer to 60-75 minutes. Which is it?
My footage is sport oriented so their is movement and & action, lots of transitions, & some composting.
Can someone tell me how do I fit 100 minutes to DVD-5, if that is possible?
I am editing my feature in PPro 1.5. I export 5-10 minute segments as DV AVI files, and then color adjust etc in AE 7.0., which I have been saving as Microsoft DV. I was planning on final assembly of all segments in AE 7.0, & export the whole feature from AE 7.0 as Microsfot DV. But I think this makes my feature file too big and it won;t fit to DVD-5. Is there another codec I should be using for final output to Encore?
What if I assembled in PPro 1.5 and exported to AE for final color. Is there a different codec I should be using to help it fit later on?
Also, I usually leave Encore set to automatic transcode and let it figure whats best. Should I be picking soemthing different?
Thanks and sorry if this has been cover before

  • How to Fit large size image into ScrollingImagepanel

    I am newbie to JAI.
If the size of the image is large then how to fit it into scrolligImagePanel size?
What is the method to be used to fit it?
    Your help is highly appreciated.
    thanks in advance

    Tom,
What version of PrPro are you working with?
Actually, MPEG-2 is not a good format/CODEC to use, as it is both heavily compressed, and is in GOP (Group of Pictures) structure. The version of PrPro, that you have, might well define the best format to use, and maybe even not need to convert.
Unfortunately, the Live version of WMM will only Export to WMV, where the "non-Live," older version, can Export to DV-AVI, though only Type I, and not Type II.
In general, for an SD Project, DV-AVI Type II is as good, as it gets.
The Frame Size of your Project is a bit odd. What prompted you to chose that?
Good luck, and let us know just a bit more.

  • Missing metadata after slideshow export

I love to show some metadata - like a description - within exportet JPGs. That way they are visible on any device used to present the pictures. As far as I found out this is only possible by doing a slideshow export (watermarks unfortunately can not pull information out of the metadata fields). But all the exported JPGs are missing all metadata, so I can not even sort them automatically later in other software solutions.
Any idea how I could both show the description field within/under the picture and do not loose all metadata information within the exported files?

    Sorry, I misunderstood.
Looks like you cannot have both metadata in EXIF and metadata as text overlays on the image, without using a third-party plugin.

  • Slideshow Exports are not sharp but fuzzy

Trying Slideshow in A3. Chose Export. Tried the Mobileme/Youtube setting. Uploaded to Youtube - the whole show, the images are like a low quality blurry. It looks the same if I open in iTuns or Quicktime.
SO I tried HD 720. Only slightly better, but bad.
The images are all high quality. Nikon RAW - all processed and when uploaded again via A3 - look prefect on MM.
SO I have tried each setting for SLideshow Export. Each totally unacceptable quality. WHat am I missing. I did put some original music behind it too.

If by MM you mean MobileMe, remember that the displayed resolution of the web.jpg image version used for MobileMe galleries and slideshows is never any better than 1024x1024, regardless of what Actual size you uploaded (or specified as Download size) or the size of your browser window or monitor.
So don't go crazy uploading hi-res versions if you're only going to be displaying them on-line.

Nope -just exported to the desktop to view. Nothing I do, or resolution has always been blurry, fuzzy.

  • I created a theme and a slideshow in iDVD. The theme (intro) plays looped in the preview, but does not go on to the slideshow. How do I "un"loop it?

I created a theme and a slideshow in iDVD. The theme (intro) plays looped in the preview, but does not go on to the slideshow. How do I "un"loop it?

Perhaps someone on this forum has done what you are asking and would be more help than me.
I think it could be done, but you'd have to do some fiddling around. The concept is to make the iDVD theme part of your iDVD or iMovie created slideshow, so that it will play as part of the slideshow.
I don't know if this will work, but if I were experimenting I would try creating an iDVD project with just the theme in it, and then save that to your desktop as a disc image.  When you click on the icon of the disc image you have just created, you will see a Video_TS folder.  Open that and you will see a file containing the letters VOB.  Open that file.
You need to convert that VOB file back to DV or Quicktime Movie which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need  the free download MPEG Streamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/, which I believe costs about $20.
Open MPEG Streamclip and drag the VOB file to its window.  Go to the MPEG Streamclip file menu and click on Export to DV.
After the export is done, you will have a DV file containing the iDVD theme.  I would try adding that clip as your first entry in your slide show, assuming that you are running iDVD7.  (You can't add a movie to a slideshow in iDVD6.)  When you play your slideshow hopefully it will play the DV clip containing the theme, then seamlessly followed by your slide show.   If it doesn't, try instead exporting the VOB file to a Quicktime Movie, and then try to add the Quicktime movie to your slideshow.
You might be able to do this easier if you created your slideshow in iMovie instead of iDVD.  You could make an iMovie with the iDVD theme clip as the lead clip, and then share your iMovie project to iDVD.
Good luck with this.  As I said, perhaps someone else has an easier way to do this and will chime in.

  • Slideshow Export ends with long black phase

I am exporting a large slideshow from iphoto. The export goes through all the pictures and movies, but after the last one the progress bar is still only halfway completed and from then on shows a black thumbnail picture (or several ongoing) and hardly moves anymore.
Not sure if the export will eventually finish. This did not happen with small slideshow exports that I tested with 4-20 pictures.
Anybody had the same problem? Any suggestions where this is coming from and how to avoid it?

Thanks, I will try that but I've had some bad experiences with imovie, the pictures don't seem to render right and you cant see the expressions on peoples faces.
I can't be the only person who has tried to sync music and pics in iphoto, and yet there is no one else on the discussions commenting on it. I've even read a tutorial about adding a commentary to your photos in iphotos by working out the timing, so it must be possible. Someone put me out of my misery please!

  • Export resolution changes from 720 x 576 to 768 x576

I am using QuickTime Pro 7.6.8 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I just tried exporting a captured avi file which has an aspect ratio of 4:3. It is PAL file with a resolution of 720 x 576--this is confirmed in the file properties > details. However, when I export this file from QuickTime as a mov file the resolution changes to 768 x576. Even if I choose "PAL 720 x 576 4:3" in QT Options > Size > Dimensions, the summary in Movie Settings states that the dimensions are "768 x 576 (current)".
If I select preserve aspect ratio using letterbox the movie summary indicates that the dimensions are "720 x 576 (768 x 576)". I am puzzled.
The exported mov files does not look distorted when I play it in QT Player. But when I import the mov file into an NLE, it appears to be distorted (too wide). How can I keep the dimensions strictly at 720 x 576.
Second question: I want to preserve the same quality of the captured MiniDV AVI file in the exported mov file for use in an editor. Which settings would you recommend for this?
    Thanks.

720x576 is the correct size. The only size used by PAL digital video. The other number is used as a square pixel representation, but it's never used in video. If you can't set the correct pixel aspect ratio in your animation application then make it using square pixels 768x576. Take that into the QuickTime Pro player and export to the correct aspect for DV PAL to conform the pixel aspect ratio.
