Slideshow Fades Not Smooth

Has anyone else noticed the slideshow fades being slow and clunky when set  anything greater than 0? Last night I tried running a slideshow with 40 images, all shot with a Canon 5d MarkIII and the fades were clunky and not smooth at all. I’m running the latest version LR on a 2014 (latest version) MBP with 16GB of RAM and SSD. Its a fast machine. I have not experienced this with other versions of LR. Any ideas on what may be going on?

> Anybody else noticed the same?
No, but I do see that flipping through images in Loupe is visually slower in 64 than in 32. Same was in the beta. Also it's very interesting that when I change images with the mouse wheel, the changes is instantaneous, when i use the keyboard - the image is slowly drawn from top to bottom.

  • Just upgraded to iPhoto 11.  slideshow does not work. just is black.

I just upgraded to iPhoto 11.  I am on a MacPro desktop.
Slideshow does not work for either the existing slideshows or to create new one.
Just a black screen.  When you click on the slideshow button it fades for a microsecond like it is going to go to slideshow...but then just a black box where teh photo should be.

Can you view the photos normally at full size?

  • Keynote transitions and quicktime movies very choppy, not smooth

When playing a slideshow, my slide transitions and Quicktime movies are not smooth, especially when using Magic Move for a transition. There is also a long delay for the start of a transition, even if delay is set to zero. I believe I have adequate hardware but any suggestions are appreciated.
Oddly, if I export a Quicktime version of the presentation or view in "Rehearse Slideshow," all transitions are smooth. Any tips for better playback performance while in Keynote? I would use the exported QuickTime for the actual presentation if there was a way to automatically stop/start playback at the end of each slide. Is there??

    Keynote version 6.5 (2110)
    OS X Version 10.10
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB

A number of recent posts have reported similar issues, all running on MacBooks.
I have not experienced these issues on desktop machines.
Try deleting Keynote, empty trash then install from Mac App Store
When playing Keynote, close all other open applications.

  • When using a path, jagged lines, not smooth lines, uneven lines

    I am using a Mac, photoshop CS5
I created a path with Curves with the pen tool.
filled it in with a color light blue.
than I use the paint bucket to change it to dark blue.
This is when the curved lines become jagged, not smooth, uneven.
also I would like to use this as a mask, but with bg color changing from time to time.
    any solutions?
    GC

Enable the retain transparency option when applying fills or use alternate colorization methods like using adjustment layers or creating the layer as a shape layer in the first place. Not sure what you mean by your mask thingy. You simply load the selection by Ctrl+clicking on teh layer thumbnail. this works no different than with any other layer.

Downgrading is not supported by Apple.

  • PDF exported from Pages (mountain lion) results in jagged font not smooth

    I am using Mac air mid-2012 + Mountain Lion (OS X 10.9.4) + Pages (5.2)
I used Arial - Regular - font 12 pt to write a resume. After I export to PDF the font on pdf looks anti-aliased, jagged not smooth on 100% scale. The font in Pages is ok.
I export the same file to *.doc and opened it with OpenOffice and export to PDF using OpenOffice, the font looks no problem.
I have the option "Use LCD font smoothing when available" option checked in system preferences.
Does anyone have the same issue?

This is a known issue in Pages 5's tables. Pages 5 has been out for 9 months now and there is no sign of Apple fixing the issue.
Use Pages '09 if you have it.

  • My Macbook Pro's navigation is not smooth and screen shakes after after i open folders

I just bought my macbook pro 15" and i am experiencing some problems
    For example,
i put safari or any application to full screen. So whenever i move my curser to the top of the screen to i can activate the bar (File - Edit - View - .. etc) It doesn't show and go down smoothly
Whenever I navigate to the right and left with my three fingers, its never smooth ... It keeps breaking and become slow
When I scroll to open my notification center its not smooth
Sometimes the screen shakes when i open an application or do certain things
I guess its a software problem. Please help me find a solution because its getting really frustrating, especially that i just bought it

  • Is there a setting that prevents the slideshow from not playing ?

    Hi All,
Im experiencing problems in Lr4 with the slideshow module not function properly.  It will open and prepare a preview of images and then default or return to the original screen when finished preparing the previews.
i.e. it won't play !!!  It just flashes black once and returns to the first image in the slideshow as if its waiting for me to start play.
Has any one encountered this before ?
Looking for recommendations and remedies to fix this problem if possible.
    S.

    OS Mavericks 10.9.5
    Lr 4
no prior trouble shooting out side of the module itself.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro writing text not smooth.

I use tablet pc for education in university and I try Adobe Acrobat X Pro writing text it not smooth text can you have add-in pen input support or support pen writing (smooth)for tablet pc?

If you want to annotate the PDF directly on a tablet, use PDF Annotator. The annotation capabilities of Acrobat are poor. You also have to select the erase tool to erase, rather than just turn the pen over. PDF Annotator works the way you would expect annotation to work with a pen. It is also useful if you grade PDFs on the tablet. The only thing I find annoying with Annotator is that the paging is a bit clunky. You should be able to find an educational price for the package, or possibly your school has it under license. There is a 30-day trial if you would like to try it. Most folks here would not dream of annotating with Acrobat for the same reasons you have found.

  • Playback of iPhoto movies not smooth

For 5 years I have taken a lot of nice avi movies with my compact Nikon S210 camera.  They always play back very smoothly and are a pleasure to watch directly on my Mac, via a large attached monitor or even to my Apple TV.
But this past week my daughter purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-Z25.  A super camera that records videos in either a "clip" mode or in mp4 format.  Great it would seem, except that when playing back these "movies" in iPhoto (latest version, running 10.8.3 on my MacBook Pro mid-2010) they are jerky-- not smooth.  Sometimes if I play the same video 5 times over, it gets better.  But then I play another one, go back to that one, and it is jerky again.  Same if played with QuickTime.  BUT never a problem with the avi movies taken on my other camera -- only this Lumix gives the jerky playbacks.  Why?
I am ready to purchase a Lumix but WILL NOT if I am going to have videos like that!

Old Toad and TD:  This is the reply from PANASONIC.  NOTE:  They thought I was having problems in iMovie.  I was talking about the latest version of iPhoto.  So I tried iMovie, and all the videos that were choppy in iPhoto played perfectly and smoothly in iMovie.  GREAT-- but I hardly ever use iMovie-- I find it an awkward program to use just to view a few nice short videos…  So fine that it works in iMovie, but I need videos to play in iPhoto.
My questions after the reply below (to you and I already eMailed these to Panasonic) are:
Have I possibly set the videos (AVCHD and mp4) to record in 50 fps mode which apparently won't play correctly in iPhoto?  Actually I was trying to record in 50 fps, but when I did INFO in iPhoto it always said 25 fps (but with my old Nikon Coolpix S210 it said 30 fps)
How can I find the fps info when I import the videos into iMovie?
They said 50 fps is not supported by iMovie-- but is it?  Perhaps it is supported by iMovie and not iPhoto??
Panasonic mentions some software/drivers.  Is that something I perhaps need to do?  Attach the camera and install drivers?  How will that work with iPhoto?????
    What else???
    Here's that reply from Panasonic:
    Thank you for your e-mail.
Regarding your enquiry, thank you for displaying the full problem. As I understand the videos playback perfectly in VLC media player, which means that the video itself is recorded perfectly, and the problem needs to be with the iMovie software that does not fully support the video format. We kindly recommend you contact Mac as this is an issue that they need to solve in order for you to playback properly the movie.
I hope you can understand my point of view, because if the problem where to be with the DMC-TZ25, the video should have played back choppy using any media player, but given this situation, the problem is only with the iMovie.
The following information is the only one we have regarding using the DMC-TZ25's software on a Mac computer:
Please note that 50p footage available on some cameras is not supported by Imovie.
The supplied software is not Mac compatible.
Connect the camera to the Mac, selecting ‘PC’ on the cameras connection options. The camera will install using drivers built into the Mac and appear on the desktop.
Iphoto should start up automatically when the camera is connected to the Mac, and give you the option to import your Photos and Motion JPEG Video. We recommend using OSX 10.4 onwards and Iphoto 08 onwards.
To download your AVCHD video you will need to use the Imovie 09 package from Apple. Imovie will not automatically open. You will need to open Imovie and then click on the Import button on the left hand side of the software.
Please note that Imovie 08 will detect the AVCHD videos on the camera but may crash when importing. There is advice on the Apple website regarding this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3481
For further help using the Mac applications please refer to the Apple website, contact Mac by phone or visit your nearest Mac store.
I trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

anything above 1500kbps should work great. MP4 or MP4.H264 your choice... although both look excellent and H264 takes longer to encode with a marginally smaller file size.
are you synching or streaming? if you are streaming it is possible that your problem is with your network bandwidth.

  • Keyframes Not Smooth

    Hello,
I'm newly working with Premiere, I haven't used it in a few years because I've been working with Final Cut.
But I'm having a problem with keyframes.  I don't know if it is just not smooth or if its a glitch but my motion through keyframes bounce and are jittery.
Here is a video clip of it.

I've messed with the bezier settings and nothing will render smooth.  Any ideas?
    -Jaeson

I'm not seeing Hold keyframes...? They look like regular ol' Bezier keyframes to me.
My guess is that you need to set spatial (not temporal) interpolation to linear, from the default Bezier. With spatial (that is, position) changes, the Bezier interpolation can create some pretty weird and usually undesired side effects.
Beyond that, the effects you're using might be causing the problem. I've often had trouble getting Basic 3D to animate cleanly; at times it will just throw random garbage frames into the mix, completely inexplicably. Also, if you turn off the Bevel Alpha and Drop Shadow effects, do you get the same result? I've noticed some oddities and unexpected behavior with some of the effects that modify clip alpha channels, as those do.
