Slideshow from album in PSE4

Is it possible to create a slideshow (.pdf preferably) including music overlay from malbum pages creation in PSE4?

Todd,
Curious as to why you specifically want to use the Album pages as input to a PDF slide show - instead of making a Collection of your photos then using that Collection as the input to first an Album Pages creation and then second to a PDF slide show ?
I experimented with a few ideas but have not really found a good answer.
Alternative 1
In the PSE4 creations process, save your Album Pages Creation as a PDF file, then open that PDF file with Adobe Reader. There are some options in Adobe Reader under
b Picture Tasks
that let you create a slide show with music which is then saved as a different PDF. Whether you will be able to use these Picture Tasks on the PSE 4 Album created pages is a big question. I have Reader 7 installed and sometimes I saw the icon for Picture Tasks and sometimes I did not. I have no explanation as to why sometimes it was not possible to do the Picture Tasks against a PSE 4 created PDF file. However, if you can make this alternative work, I think it is the better choice.
Alternative 2
In the PSE4 creations process, save your Album Pages Creation as a PDF file, then in the PSE 4
b Editor
open the PDF file. During the open process, you should see a window with an image for each page of the PDF file; select all of these images. The editor will then open each of the pages as a separate "photo". At this point I individually did a Save on each "photo" (representing a page). In the Save box I left the file type as PSD (as it appeared) and I checked the Include in Organizer box. Back in the Organizer I then saw a thumbnail for each page of the PDF. I selected these thumbnails, started the Create process for a slide show, and added an mp3 file for the music. I did an output for the slide show specifying PDF format. One very
b big disadvantage
of this method is that a Windows Media plugin for the PDF reader is needed in order to play this PDF slide show with music. If you are sending this slide show to other people, they may not have the plugin.
Please do share your experiences and conclusions with the forum for the benefit of everyone.

  • Photoshop elements 10 freezes when creating slideshow from album

It seems pretty simple to just select a few pictures from the organizer, select create, select slideshow.  A box comes up asking my preferences and when I say OK, the program freezes.  Any thoughts?

    Anwesha,
I did delete the psa.prf and status.dat files, opened photoshop elements, opened organizer, opened the catalog, hit repair, the system said it did not need to be repaired.
When finished, I selected a few photos, hit create, hit slideshow.  The editor box came up, I hit OK to the preferences, then it locked up again.  All other functions in the create category are working fine.   So I tried the same thing all over again, deleting the files you suggested, and went back into the catalog, hit repair and when it said it did not need to be repaired, I hit ‘repair anyway’.  It still did not work.
    Thanks for your continued help.

  • Photo slideshows from multiple albums

I am considering buy Apple TV just for use with photos, everything else is a bonus.
I know that in iPhoto you can select multiple albums and run them as a slideshow. Can you do the same with Apple TV or do you have to create one big slideshow in iPhoto ahead of time?

TV makes it's own slideshows from any of the albums you have synced from your iphoto library. So in short, you will need to make an album in iphoto with exactly what you want in your slideshow.
Not quite what you are after but on the up side, the slideshow in TV works really well, it is much simpler than creating a slideshow in iphoto, the only minor complaint I have about slideshows on TV is that the musc doesn't fade out as the slideshow finishes it just stops.

  • Photos Slideshow from iCloud Album Displays comments

When projecting a slideshow from a shared iCloud album standard iCloud Photo Sharing comments box (you know the like box) appear on bottom left over the projected photos. I can't find anyway to turn this off. There are no settings for this. Must be a bug?

When Apple support contacted, they acknowledged there was an issue with not all photos syncing
I haven't seen any issues posted in this forum before about missing pictures in albums, which hasn't been down to the file format being incompatible with tv, take a look at the photos which are missing are they all either JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF or PNG, if not they are not compatible.
Is any one else having problems?
I'm not experiencing this problem at all.
Also when trying to sync a iphoto slideshow, only the music plays on ATV, no images
Now that is strange, for now I'm going to assume that this might be that some of the photos in these slideshows are the photos that won't show up as per above. You are probably better solving the first issue before giving this one anymore thought.

  • Slideshow under Albums start at the end when manually sorted

Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1. Slideshow under Albums start at the end when photos are manually sorted, this was not in the earlier version. When sorted by date the slideshow starts with the first photo.

This is a know problem with iPhoto  9.5.1.  Report you problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
Currently the only workaround is to create the slideshow in the iPhoto slideshow mode and not directly from an album or event.

  • Write protect a slideshow or album possible?

    Hello,
Slideshows in particular can take a lot of time to be setup as desired. Transitions and timing become very sensitive to changes and adding or removing a single slide by inadvertence, in the middle of a slideshow as an example, can really break everything. Furthermore, it can take quite a while, for a long slideshow, to identify what the problem is and why the slideshow does not look at it used to. Anyway, it just happened to me...
Is there a way to "lock" a slideshow or album against undesired changes?
    Thanks

Thank you both for your replies.
Exporting, I do, but you are right, I was also looking for a way to protect my slideshows from within Aperture against unexpected changes.
I prefer to look at my slideshows from within Aperture as opposed to QuickTime (after export) because even at the best level of quality settings, I find that there is a slight loss of image quality after export. Furthermore, it's good to keep the original slideshow intact in case some "desired" changes are required later down the road. I also think that a level of protection would be a useful feature.

  • Imported slideshows from iPhoto with problems

I am new to Aperture, but I am trying it out because of a bug causing problems with slideshows in iPhoto. I imported the the library with albums and slideshows from iPhoto. When trying to view slide shows in Aperture, a lot of the photos do not focus/show very low resolution. I have searched the settings and checked the originals' metadata without finding any obvious explanations. Does anyone else have experience with this. Are my settings wrong, or could it be problems carried over from iPhoto?

It seems edited photos from iPhoto library does not change the original photos where they were imported from.
That's correct. iPhoto will never change the Original photo.
iPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager and treats your original file like a film shooter treated the negative. It preserves it at all costs. So, every operation - editing, exporting etc - are carried out on a copy of the original file.
As Apearl suggests, you may be using more disk space than you need: Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A +Managed library+, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
A +Referenced Library+ is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • Can you make a continuous slideshow from multiple folders in iphoto?

can you make a continuous slideshow from multiple folders in iphoto?

    Greetings,
Yes you can but you have to add the images from the various events or albums to a single slideshow.
Create your slideshow, then drag all the images you want in that slideshow to the slideshow on the left hand side.
When you go to play the slideshow you can click on settings and make sure the "repeat" option is checked.

  • Slideshow from iPhoto 6 book

    Hi,
I see with iPhoto 6 you can "play" a slideshow from an iPhoto book (i.e. play a slideshow of the iPhoto book pages).
Is there any way to create a slideshow (i.e. have it saved as a slideshow in the source list) from an iPhoto bok that you can save and/or export to iDVD?
    --Linda

    Linda:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes there is but you need to be running Tiger to do it automatically. But you can do it manually as follows:
1 - while in the book mode type Command-P (print)
2 - Click on the PDF button and select Print to PDF.
3 - open the PDF and for each page do an File->Save As and select Format: JPG and Quality: best.
4 - put the jpgs in a folder on the desktop and import into iPhoto or into a slideshow window in iDVD.
With Tiger the process is as follows:
When in the book type Command-P as if you're going to print the book. Then in the print window select "Save PDF to iPhoto" in the PDF menu. That will create a jpg image of each page and safe it to the library.
NOTE: The window to select or create an album for saving the pages to will not come to the front so you'll need to hide all windows during the process so you'll see the window. The first time I tried it I thought it didn't work so went on my way. When I finally closed down for the day I found that window.
It's an automator script that does the job. If it doesn't work for you I've placed a new automator workflow that does work in Mr. Toad's Cellar. Download and unstuff it and place in your HD/Library/PDF Services folder, replacing the one that doesn't work.

  • First slide on slideshow from an event pictures

I created a slideshow from event pictures, the first slide of the slideshow is not the first picture of the event and I can not change it.
How can I change the first slide of an event on a slideshow?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Make a album of the event so you can arrange the photos manually in the order you'd like. You can also save the slideshow settings to that album so you don't need to reset them if you use that album again in the future.

    1. exit full screen
    2. going to browser
    3. than selecting rest of photos
    4. than hitting shift+S for slideshow
I just want to hit shift+S and to slideshow starts right from picture that I curently looking.
I hope I was clear enought
    Thanx in advance!

If you mean on the phone (like J2ME apps on a cellphone) then the answer is no. However, if you can run the application on the server, then of course.. you just need a way to send a request to the server (e.g. a softkey button which makes a call to http://your-server/path/yourApplication) which triggers the application and does god knows what.

  • Exported slideshow from Iphoto11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine but show stops 1/2way through because DVD has 2 chapters. How do I eliminate chapters?

I exported slideshow from Iphoto 11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine, but then when playing on DVD player show stops about 12 way and starts over. Seems there are 2 chapters in show. I wan t show to play straight through until end. How do I elimiante chapters or solve problem. Thanks. Bob Low

    Try this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Play the disk image with DVD Player and see if you get the same start over half way thru.
Did you create the slideshow in iPhoto in the slideshow mode?
or were you in an album and then used the Share ➙ iDVD menu option?  What I'm trying to find out is if the slideshow in iDVD is a movie file or an iDVD slideshow with the photos from iPhoto? If it's the latter how many photos in the slideshow?

  • Selecting a specific Slideshow from iPhoto to view in Front Row

Hello! Can anybody help me to get Front Row to play an individual Slideshow, please? The Help that Apple provides for using Front Row is very basic, and I've searched for an answer on these forums without any luck.
When I open Front Row and navigate to Photos>Shared Photos>My Photos I then get a list of just the main headings in my iPhoto library. But each of these headings has individual grouped selections of photos. These are what I want to access, but they aren't accessible from Front Row. For example, if I select Slideshows, I have 36 of these, but Front Row just plays them all together as one slideshow. I don't want this - I want to select one at a time of course.
Surely there must be a way of doing this? I cannot believe that Apple didn't think of this when they created Front Row, but the instructions for using the program in Mac Help are very brief. One other thing, I can only use Front Row to access my iPhoto library if I have iPhoto running. This seems very poor to me - the library is on the same hard drive - I am not accessing anybody else's library. Again, there is nothing in the Mac Help for Front Row which tells you you must have iPhoto open to view photos in Front Row.
I do hope somebody can help me, because I especially bought my 27" iMac to view my photos, and being unable to select slideshows, or even subfolders for that matter, is most frustrating.
    Thank you,
    Bruce

If anybody has stumbled across this thread, having a similar problem to mine, you might be interested in how things finally turned out.
Eventually I contacted Apple technical support. They spent 90 minutes (yes, at 5p a minute) trying to fix it. They were very helpful, and suggested just about every blessed thing you might think of including dragging the iPhoto library out onto the desktop, creating a new one, dragging the files back in, repairing permissions with Disk Utility - one thing after another. Nothing worked - Front Row stubbornly refused to recognise my iPhoto library.
In the end what we did was to drag the iPhoto library out (we tried that before, but this went a different route) and put it in folder in the Pictures folder. I gave the folder a name just to identify it. Then I Option-clicked the iPhoto application program (not the library!) and it asked me if I wanted to create a new library, which I did, so I let it create a new one back in the Pictures folder (this was why I moved the original one out of the way).
So this opened, and of course was blank. So I went back to the Pictures folder in the Finder and opened the folder in which I hid the original iPhoto library. I Option-clicked this library and selected Show Package Contents. So now all the original files, folders and images were revealed. The only folder I needed now was one called Originals. I dragged this folder straight into the big empty window of my open iPhoto application, and iPhoto began to import all my original photos into the new copy of iPhoto.
Now I have all my photos back, but unfortunately all my albums and slideshows are lost. But one good thing is in the main photos window, with View set to Event Titles, and Sort set to Dates, everything is clearly divided back into event and date order. I can easily select each group of photos which are nicely divided up for me, and create new folders, named with subjects or events, and then create new slideshows from them.
OK it will take me a little while to get it back to how it was, but not quite the disaster it might have been if iPhoto had not been able to sort everything out from the metadata, into date order.
I am grateful to Paul Horan, senior technical support advisor at Apple Care, who called me back with what was admittedly a drastic solution, after trying a few fixes himself.
    Hope this help someone else!

  • Importing slideshow from iMovie 09

I don't know if it is a brain cramp or what, but I am having difficulty importing my slideshow from iMovie 09 into iDVD. I carry out all of the steps when in iMovie and then when I go to the media tab, my movie is not there. Can someone please help???

This is actually quite simple. I'm assuming you want it on a DVD? To do this go into iMovie and got to your slideshow. Click the Share tab and then iDVD. This brings up iDVD and you go on and create your main menu and burn a disc.
