Slideshow geeks needed

I know one of us geeks has created an amazing slideshow not made by the Apple guys. Can someone pass the info from their monstrous cranium to my sub-standard prozaic sponge?
But seriously. I've seen a few decent Flash slideshows, but I don't have Flash. Just need something to cylce through all my thumbnails, maybe just form them into one line to lessen the clutter.
Thanks big brains,

AutoViewer
Yes, these are all Flash slideshows, but they don't
require you to have the Flash application. Basically
the customization requires scaling your photos,
generation of thumbnails, and editing the photonames
into the XML template.
All of this is automated using iPhoto Export. There are
also Photoshop plugins available somewhere.
Hi James,
Thanks again for answering my questions about my QT movies on another post.
My question is about SimplerViewer or Postcard Viewer. Once I have it ready to go etc and lets say I want to add more pictures to the album down the road do I have to redo the coding etc all over again? Is there a script I can run so I don't have to deal with that headache?? Thanks. Eric

  • How do I create my own favorite template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to templates, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get

First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to already existing themes, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get. I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn.  I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • Gallery/slideshow source needed

i need to build a gallery/slideshow for a site and am looking
for a great example code, or component as a starting place.
one key feature is that the users will need to be able to
logon and upload/manage their images on our server.
anybody know of good sources for this? thx much - have a gr8
    day!

You can't change the look of the thumbnail in the embedded gallery widget. You can certainly try to use you're own HTML widget but the gallery effect will not be the same since it will only be in full-screen mode once the user taps on the widget image as opposed to having the ability to swipe through the widget right in the book. If that's fine with you, I recommend two sources: Get a widget using JS/HTML code from a place like Code Canyon, or if you don't want to mess with coding, you can use bookry or bookwiddgets.

  • Slideshow help needed

I want to load an initial image into onTop_mc,. When the user
    clicks
next, load another image into onBottom_mc (below onTop_mc),
    then using
MovieClip.setMask() create a transition from the first image
    to the
second image. No problem, but for the third, forth, and so on,
    I need to
do some swapping. Should I :
    1- load img1 into onTop_mc
    2- load img2 into onBottom_mc
    3- perform transition using MovieClip.setMask()
    4- unload img1 from onTop_mc
    5- reload img2 into onTop_mc
    6- repeat as needed
or is there another way? (will this even work?) I'm assuming
    that since
each image is already in the user's cache step 5 will be
    significantly
faster than steps 1 or 2.
    Thanks,
    Bill

FCP is an option, even iMovie can do that. But personally, as it is "only" a slideshow, I would import all of them into iPhoto and create a slide show with one click and set the music background transistions as well. All done in an eye blink.

  • Poor image quality -slideshow iDVD-need help asap

    Hello
does anybody know how to create a better quality slideshow???? It sim,ply does look totally unprofessional .. when the dvd is burned.
We have supersharp images .. but once the DVD is burned and you pop it back in the unit .. the images look fuzzy .. and not as crisp as when you actually run them in iPhoto, or iDVD...
this is really urgent .. I'd appreciate if somebody give us a hint ... what to do .. or is there an alternative to created 100% quality slideshows on a dvd.
We need to play the burned DVD's on a computer (to show to clients) as well as on a TV .. in case the client wants to view the DVD at home.
    please respond to
    [email protected]
    Thank you!
I understand that it might look fuzzy on a TV screen .. but why does it look so bad on a computer screen? That is not a good way to present work/images .. please help!

Don't count on FCE or DVD Studio Pro to be better. I think your issue is with MPEG-2 compression.
I build my slideshows within iDVD, not iPhoto or iMovie HD. Here's an example:
    Ireland 2004 iDVD Project
Nearly 800 images dragged into iDVD as organized folders from the hard drive. Transitions on each image, and menus, sub-menus, and sub-sub menus. The sub-menus are created by clicking on the Folder icon on the iDVD interface.
Main Menu has 6 buttons: Downpatrick, Antrim Coast, Letterkenny, Sligo, Trim, and Extras. Behind each button are additional buttons ranging from 3 to 6 buttons. The Extras button goes fairly deep. When you click on Extras, it gives you 3 choices on a new menu. The "B&Bs" button opens a new menu with 5 buttons. The "Movies" button opens a new menu with 4 buttons. If you click on the "Irish Music" button, you open a new menu with 2 buttons. At that point, you are at a "sub-sub-sub menu."
Music was on 95% of the slideshows. Some movies converted to QT DV from Canon S400 digicam .AVI files (iDVD 4). Now convert to H.264 with QuickTime 7. Images are original 4MP (2MB) JPEG images from the same digicam. This DVD project is around 4GB with all pictures as DVD-ROM content.

  • Xml slideshow controls, need help!

    Hello,
I am new to actionscript and am trying to make a slideshow
with next and previous controls. The info for the slideshow is
coming via xml. I have it up and running but there are two issues.
When clicking on the next or previous buttons the new image will
load but the first image will be present under the new image. So if
you are navigating from image 2 to 3, while image 3 loads, image 1
is visible. The next problem I am having is I would like for the
slideshow to repeat itself once it gets to the end.

    Sorry 2 more things.
In the above link to get to the slideshow, click america,
    then new england.
And it appears that on the initial load the first image loads
17 times, which is the total number of images in the slideshow.
    Thanks again

  • HELP! Missing photos in Slideshow!  Need for Grad Party Saturday!

I am panicking!  I created a slideshow in Elements last night....spent HOURS on it and was not done.  This morning when I went in to finish it, about 50 of my pictures that I had downloaded to the slideshow (toward the end of the slideshow) will not show up--only black, blank boxes are in their place!  I saved the program and exited it numerous times in the work process last night, and the photos were always there.  Now, I they don't show up--I can add more with no problem.
I have Elements 7 and am running it with Vista Home Premium.  I am in tears over this--the slideshow is for my daughter's graduation party Saturday and I have no time to work on it except today!  I have tried opening it as the Administrator to no avail.  I do not have the "missing photos" (???) thing under my "File" icon.  And do not have the money to pay Adobe for their phone support....I can't tell you how important this is to me to have done for my daughter and her party, and I do not have the time to go back through all of the CD's that I have to download the photos a second time.
    Can someone PLEASE HELP!!! ???
    Thanks!

I know this reply is way too late to help you. But I'll give my 2 cents in case someone goes thru this thread looking for answers (as I did not long ago).
I had the same issues with PE6 on XP Pro - missing pic for some of the slides after compiling to an output file (.wmv). And my symptoms were similar, missing usually the pics at or near the end of slideshow. I compiled/output the file several times, and noted the different file sizes of the compiled .WMV files, some larger, some smaller (missing more slides). Each time I recompiled the slideshow, different pictures would be missing - sometimes the last two, sometimes the last 4, sometimes 3 slides near the end but had the final two slides appear...frustrating, always a different result. I thought it was a resource issue with my PC since every slideshow had only missing slides near the end of the slideshow...not enough memory, CPU power, etc during the compilation? I toyed with the settings - closed resident memory programs, disabled internet...anything to increase memory (I had 2G of mem on a P4 cpu desktop) and reduce interrupts to the CPU, etc. NOTHING worked. So I loaded PE6 onto my laptop which had 4G mem, Dual Core 2 CPU. SAME RESULT - missing slides! Not sure if it was a resource issue at all, or if it was only part of the problem.
So, I researched further into this forum, filtering thru hundreds of threads looking for the answer. And I found one semi-relatd, which suggested that the image size was too large. It did not make sense since all my pics were the same size, so why only the slides near the end of the slideshow?? Well, it would be a pain to reduce the size of all the pics in the slide show, so I only reduced the last quarter of the pictures (mostly the ones usually missing), leaving the first 3/4 of the pictures their original size (about 4000/3000 pix). The author of that thread mentioned that PE had issues with video output on pictures greater than 2000x2000. So I reduced the last 1/4 of my pics to 2000x1500 (they were landscape format). Saved the slideshow and then tried another output...IT WORKED!
Still not sure why only the last 1/4 of the slideshow was affected, and I did compile this on my newer, more power and more mem laptop, so it could be a combination of what I did. Not going to investigate this further...I'm tired. I think the main thing is picture size. New cameras are 10MP-15MP with huge size images (on the default settings), and getting bigger. If this is the case (pic size issue), I think Adobe should really try to fix this.

  • No Sound SlideShows Help Needed!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone:  I cannot get my previously made Slideshows to play with sound in PC's that only have Adobe Reader.   The SlideShows will play with sound on PC's that have Adobe Standard or Professional installed.  My friend also has the same problem.  These sideshows were created with PSE 6,7, and 8, and the old PSA 3.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this problem and how to fix it????
Thanks any help will be deeply appreciated.
    Robert

I assume you mean PDF slideshows. They open on my PC with Adobe Reader but with a user requirement to allow blocked content.
If I click on the windows strip and authorize the file, I get to hear the sound.
The only other option is to upload pdf's or embed them in web pages so they open instantly in a browser.

  • Elements 8 Slideshow Help Needed

Hello, I have Elements 8 and while creating a slideshow my pictures dissapear or something else happens because when I preview it, all I get is a black screen.
I've tried smaller pictures, adding sound, saving then previewing, even when I export or share the saved result is nothing but a black screen, no pictures. I hear the music I added, but no pictures. Even if I add a blank slide and add text, nothing. I'm stumped and frustrated. I followed the online video tutorial exactly and still no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I've had the software for about a year and a half and never used the slideshow part until now.
Hoping somebody may have come across this issue before,
Computer info if it will help.
vista 64 bit sp2, but running adobe in 32 bit
    Nvidia gtx580 graphics card
    12 gig ram
    Intel i7 920
    Thanks!

    First suggestion --
I have experienced this type of issue with the black screen in preview and it was caused by lack of authorization.  I was running under Vista and I circumvented the problem by starting PSE using Run as Administrator
-- in other words instead of left clicking on the PSE icon on the desktop,
-- I right clicked on the PSE desktop icon and chose " Run as administrator" from the right click menu
The above process was necessary despite the fact that my Windows userid did have administrator authority.
There is a theory among several people that this can be caused by uninstalling an earlier version of PSE after you installed PSE 8. However, I doubt that is absolutely the only reason.
    Second suggestion--
If my first suggestion does not solve your problem, then I think the second most probable cause is some problem or inconsistency with the driver for your video card. Your Nvidia gtx580 is a powerful video card -- so perhaps there is some inconsistency with another component on your system. How recently have you updated the driver for your video card ?
-- Have you ever been able to do a PSE slide show preview ?
-- Have ever been able to play back an WMV file output from the slide show?
    FYI -
If this is one of your first alide shows with PSE, I suggest that you also post how you plan to display your finished slide show -- for example - will you burn it to a DVD disc ? Do you also have Premiere Elements ?

what are you viewing the results on? The Mac computer monitor using DVDSP simulator or Apple DVD player; Broadcast PAL monitor, domestic TV?
I would suggest checking the compression settings in DVDSP preferences > Encoding tab( command and , )
do a few short duration tests with different settings, its not always the highest data rate that gives good results.
    best practice settings are;
    field order: auto
Mode: test between the two one pass settings
max bit rate: always set less than 7.0 try testing at 5.0 5.5 6.0 6.5
    motion estimation: Better

  • IPhoto slideshow to DVD for TV and PC viewing

I am creating a slideshow that needs to be able to be played on a DVD with unknow TV and a PC with a projector. Will not know exactly which one. The slideshow is simple (200 images estimated), would like to have Ken Burns effect if possible.
I also have Keynote available if it would be a better appliciaont. What is the best workflow to produce a reliable, high quality product? Thanks in advance.

The tip refers to the file "Library6.iPhoto" that is in the iPhoto Library folder. That's the file that often gets damaged or corrupted and makes iPhoto think there are no photos in the library or that the files are missing but the thumbnails are there. I just select it and type Command-D to make a copy of it which ends up as "Library6 copy 1.iPhoto". When I need to backup again I delete that file and make another copy of it.
For protection of HD problems and really losing your files I suggest an external Firewire HD. An 80G drive is not that expensive and can hold your iPhoto Library folder and, in general, your entire User folder. That folder contains all of your important, non-replaceable files. The system and applications can be replace
That being said DVDs can be used with iPhoto's Share->Burn Disk menu option to burn multiple rolls to disk in the iPhoto format. This will allow you to mount that disk in iPhoto like this to copy back those rolls into a new library is that were necessary. As you get a number of new rolls you can burn another disk. Or use a CD and burn fewer rolls as they are added. That preserves the keywords, albums they were in, comments, etc. You can also burn slideshows.
The external HD is the easiest and quickest way. By backing up the entire iPhoto Library folder (i.e. copying it to the external HD and then keeping it current with a backup program like Synk, you can avoid most any catastrophic crash on your HD. I don't have my external drive running all the time. I only turn it on and mount it when I have some backups to perform.

  • Is it possible to create an iPhoto slideshow with a menu for each child?

I want the DVD to open with three photos: Karen's, Lori's and Amy's.
When Karen clicks her photo, three more of her photos will appear: a baby photo, a school-age photo, and an adult photo. If she wants to watch a slideshow of her baby pictures, she will click the baby photo...
Each daughter will have a similar setup - three slideshows for each of them. I'm not very picky about which theme will do the job.
I have checked two books and the Apple tutorial and can't find a similar example.
This is only my second slideshow. Any help will be appreciated!
Flat Panel iMac (still love it) w/superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iLife'06, 512 mb ram, 200 GB and 250 GB hard drives, wireless network

    Yes this can be done.
First create the 9 slideshows you need in iPhoto......for each one, when finished use the "Send to iDVD" to create a QT movie of each slideshow......be sure to pick the music/playlist in iPhoto (unless you want to use iMovie for that and other things...). When iDVD opens, just close it without saving.
Then open iDVD and choose a menu. As an example, choose "Portfolio Color". Retitle it to "Daughters" or whatever you want.
Then click on the "+" sign at the lower left, and choose "add submenu" -do this two more times yo get three folders. Then click on the media button, and choose three photos to use as a button instead of the folder. Just drag each photo onto the folder. Rename each submenu to Karen, Lori and Amy. Click once on the text, wait, then click again and edit.
Then double click on one submenu. Drag in the correct three iPhoto movies you exported using the "Send to iDVD" command. By default, they go to your home directory in the Movies folder. You can also find them using the Media tab in iDVD and look for Movies.
Go back to the "Main" menu using the back arrow (double click on it).
Repeat for the other two submenus.
    Hope this helps,

  • Apply an iTunes song to a slideshow

I have changed the start and stop times of a particular song in iTunes (under the Get Info/Options feature) because I don't want the whole song to play for my slideshow. But when I drag the song from the Audio list into the Slideshow slides and then play it, iDVD plays the whole song, ignoring my start and stop times. Is there a way to make this work?

    Hello,
In the past i have imported the song from iTunes into Garageband, shortened it to where i want and make it fade out rather than having a sudden stop. When i am finished i save it and close GB. When you are applying a song to your slideshow, you need to look under garageband instead of iTunes in the media tab and you will find the song you just created in GB. Add that song to your project and your done!

  • Hyperlinks in slideshow

I'm using a Flash slideshow on a Dreamweaver site (CS3) with six slide images (see code below).  The first three images have a link to Adobe - not intended.
I have not been able to remove the links.  Is it possible that somehow the jpeg images themselves contain the links?  And, if so, how do I remove them?
    Thanks.

If the links are in a flash slideshow, you need to change that within the Flash program.
You can't edit Flash files in DW.
A much better solution would be to ditch Flash all together since the most popular handheld devices (iphone, ipad, andriod, etc) can't see it. Moving to something more compatible, like jQuery, which is viewable on all devices, would be a better route in my opinion.
jQuery Cycle 2 is a very nice slider, and is very easy to implement: http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle2/
