Slideshow Images in Date Order

Hi
Is there a way to display the images in a slideshow widget as date photo taken or modified order?  Currently I add an image and wherever I am in the slideshow decides the place of where the image is inserted; I cannot however insert an image straight to number 1 of the slideshow.  I have to delete all images then insert them one by one to get them in the order I require them.  Which is time consuming, when I have slideshows with 50 images in it.  (Photographer Site)   Am I missing something?
Also is it possible to delete all images, without having to double click on each image and click delete?
Many Thanks.

There's no automatic way to sort by date (or other image metadata).
You can manually sort the images in a slideshow. Temporarily turn on the thumbnails, drag-n-drop the thumbnails into the order you want, then turn thumbnails back off.

  • Help: BufferedImage image data order

I want to create an image by myself. What I have is the width, height and image data. The image data is arranged B,G,R,B,G,R,.... However, when I call BufferedImage constructor with the image type TYPE_3BYTE_BGR and use setPixels to input the data. The color of resulting image is wrong.
The setPixels() function apparently assume the input image data is arranged R,G,B, R,G,B,...
Here is the snippet of code:
    imagedata = new BufferedImage(width,height,BufferedImage.TYPE_3BYTE_BGR);
    WritableRaster raster = imagedata.getRaster();
raster.setPixels(0,0,width,height,image);I have specified the image type is Type_3Byte_BGR, the setPixels should know the input image has the order of B,G,R. Does the setPixels function assume the fixed order (R,G,B) no matter what the image type is ?
    Thanks.

In all the reading I've done with Rasters, there seems to one word that jumps out at me over and over again--"standard". I've not had the occasion to use anything other than RGB, but with as heavily as "standard" is used in what I've read to do what I have had to do, it wouldn't suprise me if RGB was the "standard" used in Rasters.
I'd be interested if you find anything different.

  • Slideshow image quality/color rendering

I´m quite frustrated after discovering that some of my images look quite poor displayed by the slideshow module. My situation ist as follows:
LR 5.2 running on Mac OS X 10.8.5, 1:1 previews are rendered, preview quality is set to high, and I´m using a sample image showing a dark cloudy sky with some fine gradients; my slideshow preset doesn´t use any borders as I read this often causes quality issues.
When I´m in the Develop module, there is no problem at all, even in fullscreen display mode on my 1920x1200 display the gradients are perfectly rendered.
In Library module, when displaying fullscreen, quality is okay, but I can see some slight difference compared to the Develop module - which I understand after reading that in Develop the output is based on the actual raw data, and in all the other modules on rendered previews.
Now, when in Slideshow module, the image quality is significantly lower than in Library and I see some quite obvious banding in the gradients. I don´t have problems with blocking artifacts but the banding/posterization is considerably worse compared to a JPEG export with a quality setting of, for example, 75.
I can´t imagine LR´s slideshow tool would be working with a lower color depth than the 8 bit as in standard JPEGs, right? Did I miss any of LR´s parameters that influence the image quality of Lightroom slideshows or of the previews used therefore? Otherwise do you have some other explanations or hints for me in order to get this fixed? We do everything to capture our images in the best possible quality so we should also be able to present them properly after all...
Thanks a lot for any advice!
    Toby

In-Lr slideshow images look like crap on my system too (dull contrast and de-saturated shifted color).
My guess is some issue with icc-profile/monitor-profile or something, but I'm not qualified for assessing.. - could just be a bug in Lr that only bites some, dunno...
I use ShowBiz instead, which works well on my Windows box, and it should also work on your Mac box.

  • Photos. They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. Copied them (hours and hours) to external hard drive. They are now in alphabetical order (19,000  of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order-and have been taken with different cameras- help!!!!!!

    Photos.
They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment)  one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
    How can I copy
the whole library still in  "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
    Thanks

UPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.
    Thanks, Sean.

  • How to play images in name order

I have a folder in i-Photo with approx 400 image all named in sequence 000, 001, 002 etc
Drop this folder in iDvd in to slide show and they apear to be in total random order
I can sort them by hand but is there a way to get them to list and play in the correct order?

To late to edit the above post so i'll simply add this info here. It's directly from the Getting Started in iDvd'08 pdf. Let me know if these 2 pages help (starting w/ pg #14)
    Step 5: Add a Slideshow
Adding a slideshow to your iDVD project is a great way to enhance your DVD and show
your photographs. You can use a slideshow already created in iPhoto, or you can use
iDVD to create a slideshow from a group of pictures.
You can even create a DVD that has no movies at all but rather showcases your photos
in one or more slideshows. Depending on the amount of other content included and
the size of your photos, your DVD can hold up to 9801 images.
In this step, you’ll create a slideshow of photographs and movies in iDVD and add a
    soundtrack.
To create a slideshow in iDVD:
1 If the main menu is not showing, click the Back button on the scene selection menu to
    return to the main menu.
2 Click the Add button at the bottom of the iDVD window and choose Add Slideshow
    from the pop-up menu.
A button labeled “My Slideshow” appears on the menu. This button may appear too far
from the movie button. Leave it as it is for now. You’ll learn how to reposition buttons
in “Changing Button Shapes” on page 23.
Click My Slideshow to select the text, and then type My Photos.
If you want to modify the text, use the controls in the in-place editor to do so.
3 Click outside the text area to deselect the text, and then double-click the My Photos
button to open the slideshow editor.
The iDVD window changes automatically to show the Photos pane.
    P. 15
The slideshow editor, shown below, is a blank screen with the words “Drag images
    here.”
4 Drag photos one at a time or in groups from the Photos pane to the slideshow editor.
You can even drag a whole album to the slideshow editor.
If you haven’t imported photos into iPhoto, you won’t see photos in this list. You can
open iPhoto anytime and import some photos, or you can drag photos from other
locations on your hard disk directly to the slideshow editor.
5 Arrange the images in the order in which you want them to appear.
Drag the images in the slideshow editor to rearrange them. To delete images, select the
ones you want to remove, and then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
    Access the Photos
    pane to add photos
    to your slideshow.

  • I just upgraded to iPhoto 11. My events are not sorted in date order even though I have chose it to under the view tab????

I cannot get my photos in date order in iPhoto 11 What can I do to remedie this?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • PHOTOS IN CHRONOLOGICAL / DATE ORDER

I am using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.00.
I wish to organise my photo collection in date order. For example a recent special holiday starts at the end as slide 1, which also means the slide show automatically starts at the end. I have tried to change this by going to 'view', then 'arrangement' then 'date oldest first' but there is no response to clicking this. I just wish to reverse the order but also some of the pictures are out of sequence too, which is puzzling me!
Has any one got some tips as to how I overcome this challenge? I expect it will be really easy!!
Apologies if this is the second time this message has been posted..I wasn't sure what happened to the first.
    Penny

    Hi Penny,
The order for collections is entirely manual. You can put them in any old
way you want... but as you are finding, you can't do them automatically.
Now... one thing you COULD try is to fool the system a little bit.
Create a new Tag called "Reverse" or whatever you want. Select all the
images you want in the collection and then drag the tag onto the images.
Click on the tag and then reverse the order from oldest to newest. Create a
new collection name... drag it onto this reverse order set up...
Click on the collection name and that SHOULD put it in the order you want.
    Cheers

  • Putting Images in Numerical Order

I am trying to create a slideshow from my Aperture library and the images in iDVD to not appear in numerical order--they seem to be random. I put the images in numerical order in Aperture, but nothing helps. Its like iDVD randomly sorts these.
I have almost 200 images and need them in numerical order (so my vacation doesn't seem random!) and putting them in order is worse than a 1000 piece puzzle!

I've been using that naming convention since learning it from an old boss years ago. It's always worked for me. Glad it solved your problem.

  • More Image Time/Date Questions

I hate to keep bringing up Time/Date/Time Zone related issues, but it seems I have another...
I have certain images for which I have changed the date and time and time zone. The metadata reflects the proper time, date and time zone, but oddly, when I filter the images based on "Capture Day of Month" I get results that cause me problems.
For example, I have an image that was shot on 1/15/2007 at 2:14 AM GMT + 7:00. This is what the Metadata tells me. When I go to Metadata -> Adjust Date and Time, it tells me that the Original was shot on 1/14/2007 at 2:14 PM. (It doesn't tell me the Time Zone of the original here).
When I do a search in this project for all images shot on the 15th day of the month, this image does not show up in my results. The metadata says 1/15, but the original says 1/14. This is an issue for filtering purposes and leaves me wondering how many images get left out of my filters when I apply them.
This could be an odd case because I might not have managed the time/date/time zone properly on import. I did try to change them to the correct time/date/time zone after the fact and thought all was good until now.
Does anyone know how I can rectify this situation? I just want to make sure that the time/date/time zone of all of my images is correct.

    Nathan,
I just got back from some travels. I just checked again and it seems to now be working. It really is the strangest thing. Basically, I checked it both ways. I went into a project that had images from multiple days (I now want to separate my images into projects by the day they were shot on). I picked two filter scenarios: 1) "Date", where I specified, "Capture Day of Month" "is" and I typed "15" and 2) "EXIF", where I specified, "Capture Day of Month" "is" and I typed "15". It did not work when I had all of the images lumped into one project. I subsequently manually sorted my images by looking at the date of each one before moving them into their new respective projects. Now that they are in their own projects, it seems to working.
Aperture has a long way to go to make time management simple and accurate. There are a lot of things going on (where the image was shot, what the camera time was set to, which time zone the computer is in when you import the images, how the time settings on the computer are configured, etc, etc...). It really is a lot to manage. Thankfully, Aperture allows you to correct these issues, but it doesn't make the task simple nor straightforward.
Perhaps it is a camera issue and not a software issue? Maybe camera manufacturers need to make their products more like our phones, where the time is registered automatically based on your GPS location. I am not sure if GPS enabled cameras have this capability. The computer should be able to recognize this GPS stamped time and embed the data directly into the image. Science fiction? Perhaps.
There are far too many obstacles that get in the way and mistakes are easily made along the way. As mentioned, Aperture allows you to correct these "mishaps", but not with the type of ease you would hope for. Unless you shoot and upload all of your images in your own time zone and have your camera clock and computer clock synced and set correctly, you are bound to have inaccuracies along the way. This is a shame for those who try to manage this stuff down to the "T".
Sorry for my rant as I have digressed from the topic at hand.
I have begun to import my images under a system mentioned by another user in a different thread (I will have to go back to find his alias). I basically set my camera to UTC time and then upon import set the actual time to the time zone that I shot the images in. This saves me from having to reset my camera every time I change time zones and from also having to adjust it during daylight savings time.
This alone seems to have solved my issues for now and going forward. I still run into issues upon import though from time to time that are perplexing as they are frustrating. For example, I just got back from Houston, Texas. I live on the East Coast. The first issue I had is that the import dialogue box doesn't tell you the "Adjusted Date and Time" correctly (or so it seems to me). After importing the images, the date and time is correct, but this is not reflected during import, nor communicated in the import dialogue which always confuses the heck out of me.
I blame part of this on the fact that Aperture is probably seeing the original in UTC time. It is then correcting it based on the time zone that I chose (CST), only I am importing in EST. It all adds up to a bunch of confusion. Even after trying to decipher it all and by doing the math, I still don't think it adds up correctly in the import dialogue. When I make adjustments to the time, date and zone during import, the data always looks incorrect in the import dialogue. This I have tested over and over again. I would be surprised if I am the only one who notices this. I can't figure out why it happens. The good news is that the actual images do have the correct date, time and time zone after import, but this anomaly still makes it confusing during import.
The second thing I am noticing is that these images, which do show up correct, don't always import correctly when you auto-split your projects into days. For instance, if the original image (UTC time) was on the 15th, but the corrected image ends up on the 14th, that image doesn't get sorted with the other images that were shot on the 14th (even though this image was shot on the 14th in the time zone you shot it. This is obviously the time and date you want associated with the image). This again makes importing a pain in the you know what and very confusing.
A third thing I've noticed is that there is no way to check only the images for a certain day. You have to uncheck everything and then check (individually) each image from a given day. This is not a good system nor workflow. In order to avoid it, you have to import everything at once and then separate your images into projects later. This also isn't a good system for obvious reasons.
I don't mean to turn this thread into a "What's wrong with Aperture import" discussion. Most of what I am describing would probably be better served as part of a feedback request to the Aperture team. I will certainly get to that as well.
There is another confusing thing to me though based on the original part of this discussion thread. The image that I was originally describing - the one where I shot it on 01/15/07 at 2:14 AM GMT +7:00 (which shows up as originally being shot on 01/14/07 at 2:14 PM (I get this by going to "Metadata" -> "Adjust Date and Time". The thing I don't understand is why the original even says that. When I adjust images, I always apply those adjustments to the Master. How do I actually get this to reflect, as it seems that it is still being read with an original time as the incorrect time and date? Also, why - upon making a time and date adjustment - does Aperture tell you that this action cannot be undone? It seems you can make as many changes as you want, and even changed the images back to the original time and date.
Anyway, that's it for now. I hope I haven't confused you with this lengthy discourse.
