Slideshow in i Movie question

I am dragging pictures into iMovie to make a slideshow. Each time I drag a picture - it duplicates it so they picture shows twice - what can I do to fix this back to one photo?

Pull down File
chose "Export"
In the "compress movie for": choose "Expert Settings
klick "share"
this takes you to a "save where dialog"
note the options at the bottom,
i.e "Export" = what conversion do you want
"Use" = where will the movie be seen/shown?
"Options"
Choose Options.
this takes you to the movie settings dialog
Choose "Filter"
on the left you see a list of possible filters
"none" should be highlighted
if not, click on "none"
choose "OK"
this takes you back to the save dialog
Choose "Cancel"
How would/could these settings effect the Share/iDVD path.
I don't see any similar settings options in iDVD.
Let us know if your filter settings are anything other than default "none".

  • Quicktime Movie Question

    Hello, all.
How do I insert a slideshow into a movie?
    Thanks

    Mireille:
I recall reading in another thread that the second movie may be waiting until the first loads before it starts loading. I don't know if the order is by file name or position on the page. You can try changing the file names to see if you can force the smaller one to load first.
I did notice that this method made smaller playable m4v files that the original file in most cases. It may be a way to reduce the size of the file to use.

  • Converting a Slideshow to a movie

I recently made a slideshow in Encore and now I would like to convert the slideshow into a movie that I can download to a picture/video sharing site.
Is there a way to convert a slideshow into a movie?
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
    Jeff

    Jeff,
What version of Encore are you using? That might allow for other options.
One method would be to Delete anything but the SlideShow, set that to Play First and do a Save_As, renaming the Project. You could then Build to Folder, and change the file extension of the resultant VOB to MPEG. You should not need to rip that, as there is no real navigation, and no Menus.
If you have a later version, you could Build to a Flash Project, and probably use that.
    Good luck,

  • Exporting Slideshows as quicktime movie, i plan 200 or more pics..

I tested it exporting a slideshow that only had 5 pics..i put 10 secnods for each slide. And it took a while to export.
I can't imagine how long it would take with 200 or 300 pics or more.. Can it do it eventually ( if i wait long) or will it crash my system?
    I'm doing a slideshow of a story.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As Terence mentioned give us some information about your setup, system version, RAM, HD free space, iPhoto version, QT version, etc., and the ultimate use of the slideshow.
Do you plan to put the slideshow into iDVD for burning and playing thru a TV set? Do you have music and use the KB effect? There are several ways to go about it and more information can help us answer your question more effectively.
Hi all:) Thanks for your answers. yes i forgot about my system:
    I have a G5 tower 1.8Gzh single processor.
2GB ram. Diskspace is less than 1GB... but i have one 20GB External HD which sadly it's also full.. But i guess i can make space in the mac HD by throwing stuff i don't need.
    Quicktime 7.1.3
I'll use Toast or IDVD to make the dvd.
But i hope it wouldn't take a lot just for a simple picture Slideshow.
My slideshow will be kind of like a story .. With Narration, music, sound efects.
How i plan to do it is: Render the images from my graphics program( Poser and Vue). , Take images to iPhoto and create a slideshow.. Set the transitions type and the seconds for the slides to stay on screen. Apply al lneeded settings in iphoto. Export as movie. Take movie to GarageBand OR if i had Logic Express( which i kind of plan to get), then logic express. Add sound tracks and narration and sound effects to movie. Export to quicktime.
    That's it .

  • Simple Director Movie Question

I am very new to director, but I need to get this "slideshow" made for our company.
    Details are as follows:
I have static images and movie clips that I need to display on a tv at a trade show
I need the movies/images to just keep looping until someone presses a button at which point it will load a flash file ( I think I figured that out)
    my question is,
I'm sure I can just drag the length of the movies and images across the score so they play for the duration of each movie (I figured out how to delay the images on the screen) but there must be a more organized way for me to tell director "Play this move for the duration of 2:30 then go onto the next frame on the score to play whats next"
I tried the MovieDelay command which works fine for the static images, but when I put that on the movie, it plays the sound, but pauses the video.
I just cant find the right direction to look for the answer

Here is a behavior you can drop on your video (assuming it is a QuickTime member).
    -- End waiter
-- Keep the play head a the end of the sprite until the end of a quicktime movie has been reached
-- Drop this behavior on the quicktime sprite
    on exitframe me
      sp = sprite(me.spritenum)
      if (sp.endFrame = the frame and sp.movieTime < sp.member.duration) then
        go the frame
      end if
    end

  • How to create a photo slideshow in my movie

    Hello all,
Im woking on my first movie with Premier Elements 12 and I can not figure out how to include a slideshow of pictures at the end of my movie.
Of course I can drag the photos on the timeline and use trancients in between but there is nothing I can do with the picture like editting/cut parts off, make them black/white and use movement effects for example.
Isnt this an option/included in Premiere lements 12 ?
I just bought the software but also played around with the trial of Cyberlink Powerdirector which has this handy magic function to select all pictures at once and create different/random trancirents and effects and pictures could be editted also.
This is what Im after but I can not find how to do this stuff in Premiere lements 12.
Hope someone can help me out.
    Thatnks in advance

    AlexSan
Do you have Photoshop Elements 12 as well as Premiere Elements 12?
What is this "movie" that the photo slideshow is going to be at the end of? A video? If so, what are the
properties of that video...video and audio compressions, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio?
What is your intended final product...DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen on DVD disc, AVCHD on DVD disc, or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc?
With the above information, I will suggest some approaches that you might want to look into.
    Thanks.

  • Thinking of making the PC to Mac Move, questions about Photos App

Helped my mother on her Mac a little bit and got the Photos App working for her. Now my turn, I have been a die hard Windows user, but I will never use a Windows phone. (Can never give up my iPhone) I have been taking on a huge family project of scanning old photos and dating them. Along with digital photos from early 2000’s. I have probably about 10,000 photos. (And 20,000 more to scan) In Windows I use photo gallery 2012 to organize and date etc. my photos. The thing I like about photo gallery is that when I make a change to a photo it edits the original. The dates and GPS I add to the photo are forever saved to the file in the metadata.
I am very tempted to move to a Mac. (I have an iPhone & Apple TV, I would like to sync across all my devices) I never like iPhoto, the idea of a “non destructive” editing means I have to import and export photos. I think the new Photos app might work for me.
    A few questions:
If I move all my directories/folders of my photos to a Mac, will I be able to use the Mac Photo App to edit the photos and the changes I make be saved directly to the photo file in the respective folder? (Or are the photos then saved in a new location after being edited in the Mac Photo App?)
If I turn on the iCloud Photo Library (on the Mac & iPhone) I understand all my photos will be uploaded to the cloud and any changes made on either device will be seen on the other. My question, if I make changes to a photo that is in the iCloud will that change be made to the original photo file that is stored on the Mac? (Basically I want to have at all times a hard drive copy for my personal backup)
With the iCloud Photo Library feature I understand that any new photo I take with my iPhone is uploaded to the iCloud. Are the photos taken on the iPhone physically downloaded to the Mac? I know I can view them on the Mac Photo app, but I want to know if they are downloaded to the Mac and if so where does it save the new photos?
    Thanks,
    Nick

I do not use ICloud so someone else will need to answer those questions.  For question one though...  Photos, like Aperture and Iphoto before it, puts your photos in its own filing system.  You would need to export the photos to get them back out of Photos.  You can export them to anywhere in your mac file system.

  • Import Movie Question

I am importing a number of .avi files into iMovie. All is working fine but have a question. When the Import is selected and the Import dialog appears there is a choice: move or copy the import file. I don't seem to see much difference in the choice as selecting either one seems to leave a copy of the .avi source in the iMovie folder structure. I am wondering if this .avi is any different than the source file? In my case these files are huge (30 GB) and I don't need to keep the source if the the file in the iMovie directory is the same as the original.

When the Import is selected and the Import dialog appears there is a choice: move or copy the import file. I don't seem to see much difference in the choice as selecting either one seems to leave a copy of the .avi source in the iMovie folder structure.
If working properly, the "Move" option should copy the source file to an Event in iMovie and then delete the original file. The "Copy" option, on the other hand, is supposed to copy the source file to the iMovie Event and also leave the original source file undisturbed.
I am wondering if this .avi is any different than the source file?
AVI actually refers to the file container and the manner in which the audio and video tracks are synchronized by the interleaving of data frames -- i.e., like the way cogs of different sized wheels are meshed together so that if one wheel turns faster, the other will also speed up preventing one from overrunning the other. As long as the original data compression formats are compatible with iMovie '08, then files can be imported at the File level. This import does not change or re-compress the data in any way as in the case of "Import from Camera..." operations in which incompatible camcorder compression formats must be re-compressed and modified so as to be "edit" compatible at the frame level in iMovie '08.

  • Placing music in a slideshow - can't move it where I want it

I'm so frustrated...I'm doing a wedding slideshow; first time with the new version of iMovie. I am trying to place a second song in the slideshow, and I want it to start in the middle of one of my "fade out" transitions. But when I try to drag it, it won't go exactly where I want it - it always wants to start right smack at the beginning of the next slide (which makes for a rough audio transition). Can anyone please tell me how to movie audio clips very intricately? In the old version, I think you used to be able to just click on the track and move it slightly with the arrows, if I'm not mistaken. Is there any way to do this in this version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Hi Daniel,
I just tried Winston's suggestion about dragging on top of the clip (rather than dragging to the background) - I always insert audio this way. But there is a trick to positioning music to start playing within a transition.
In my test, I dragged a music track over the "fade to black" transition. Before dropping, this caused it to cover the whole background green, so I dropped it onto the incoming clip. This action placed it as a separate track positioned directly below the video track. I was then able to position the music track part way through the transition, without it bouncing back to the start of the next clip.
So, the trick is to drop the music onto a "normal" clip, then separately drag it to the desired position beneath the transition.

  • Slideshow and video (.mov) files

When I import photos (.JPG) and movies (.MOV) from my camera to the ipad, they appear as an 'ALBUM' and I can run a slideshow on the ipad that will show both photos and movies in the sequence that they were taken. However, when I import the same photos and movies onto my pc, and then sync the ipad with the pc, the movie files show as 'unable to be synced'
The same photos and movies still show as 'ALBUMS' and are duplicated on the ipad under both 'PHOTOS' and 'ALBUMS'.
I can run a slideshow under PHOTOS that will include the 'imported' movies.
Does anyone know why the sync rejects these movie files - the ipad is happy to accept them from the camera?

Unfortunately, if you don't have (or want to use) the CCK, you may run into problems with a lot more cameras. In most cases, this is caused by the so-called “H.264 level”. While CCK does import videos with, theoretically, incompatible levels (that is, over 4.1), iTunes in no way synchronizes the same videos without your manually decreasing the level first. Most Canon cameras that record 1080p24 videos belong here (they use level 5.0); the most notable exception is the new, high-end Canon EOS 5D Mark III, which not only records audio into AAC instead of the far more storage-unfriendly PCM, but also uses lower and iOS-compatible H.264 levels (4.0 for 1080p and 3.1 for 720p videos).
That is, first, try finding out what the H.264 level of your videos are and change them with Subler. If Subler can't change it, use other apps to do it. Read  http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/making-stock-videos-application-play-every-mp4 -files-possible for a full tutorial (the Subler link is at the bottom). It's about synching for the "Videos" app; however, the same also applies to synching photos back in the "Photos" tab.
BTW, what camera model is that?

  • Highest quality slideshow saved to movie file is has terrible resolution in PE12, but PDFs look great. What's up?

I've saved a PE12 slideshow as the highest quality available, but the resolution is low when viewing. When saved as a PDF the resolution is outstanding. Does anyone know how I can get better resolution from the movie file?

How are you creating the video file? PSE itself can only record in the horrid outdated VCD format. Output your slideshow to a WMV file and then use PRE, if you have that, or whatever burning software you have to finalize the video.

Hi, I hope someone can help.
I'm currently on contract with bt for phone and internet and am having to move home in a month and a half. I understand I can take this with me, but if I did, does it restart the contract length for me? I'd also like to know what the cancellation fees are so that if it came to it I know what charges to expect.

  • What aspect ratio to use for slideshow dvd?  (earlier question rephrased)

Slideshow created in iDVD, the ultimate product (DVDs) to be given as keepsakes to the surviving family members of a friend who passed away; also to be played at a celebration of life for my late friend.
Photos are old and many - span 83 years - and are all different sizes & shapes.
All I need to decide is what aspect ratio to use - this slideshow may be viewed on computer, TV (regular or H) - I have no idea what people will use.
    What's my best choice? Thanks!

iDVD uses the 4:3 aspect ratio. Most digital cameras create images with this ratio. However, scanned photo can be a variety of ratios and will have to be cropped to the 4:3 ratio in iPhoto before sending on to iDVD.
You can use the photos in their original size if you'd like. That will cause the image to have black bars at the left and right and not fill the screen completely.
FWIW I find I get the best final image quality when I create the slideshow in iDVD from still photos in iPhoto. The downside to that is the Ken Burns effect is not available and you can have only one transition.
If you can crop the photos to the 4:3 ratio before using I think you'll have a better looking slideshow. If you use the KB effect don't over do it. Using it on every slide can be distracting making it difficult to concentrate on the actual content of the photo. (You probably can tell I'm not a big fan of KB. )
If you do create the slideshow in iPhoto be aware that users have had problem with using multiple audio tracks in the export process. Many have found that each track seems to fade out way to soon leaving dead air between tracks. You can add multiple tracks in iDVD and that problem is not present.
When you're ready to burn the iDVD project first save it as a disk image (File->Save as Disk Image) and check it with DVD Player. This separates out the encoding process from the burn process. If it plays as you expect with DVD Player it's ready to burn. Burn to disc with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

  • Creating slideshow with AVI movie files in iDVD 06?

Today I was trying to create a slideshow movie with iDVD. I had some AVI movie files that came from my Canon digital camera. I wasnt able to drag them into the slideshow well, so I thought I had to convert them to a .mov file, after converting them I still wasnt able to use them. Is it possible to make a slideshow with movie files as well as pictures in iDVD 06? I know for a fact that I can do this on iDVD 08, so is it possible? thanks in advance.

Slideshows using movies is just an iLife '08 thing.
I suggest you do what I do. Use VisualHub to convert the AVI slideshows to DV video movies. The DV video will work great in iDVD 6 when put on a menu page.

  • Making Photo Slideshows along with movies

Does FCE HD or FCP HD make good quality slideshows. iMovie seems to lose a lot of quality wihen making slideshows with photos. I am looking to make a DVD with movies as well as photos, and I am wondering what would app would give me the best quality.
    Macbook Pro

    I use Photo-to-Movie under http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
It makes better DV quality slideshows than iPhoto or iDVD (less shimmer and pixelation) and allows for very precise motion control of the "Ken Burns" effect. Then I import the finished "movie" to FCE and then export the movie to Livetype or Soundtrack to add titles or my own music.
