  • I have an old ipod (5th gen) and I downloaded itunes to my toshiba computer. It says my ipod was formatted by mcintosh and must be restored before i can use on windows. is there a way to transfer my music? ty

I have an old ipod (5th gen) and I downloaded itunes to my toshiba computer. It says my ipod was formatted by mcintosh and must be restored before i can use on windows. is there a way to transfer my music? ty

Not without installing additional software on your computer.  The problem is that your Windows PC cannot read the Mac's disk format.  If the iPod was previously used on a Mac, its storage uses the Mac's disk format.  The Restore process reformats the iPod's disk for use with Windows, but this erases its current content.
There are third-party products that allow Windows to read the Mac's disk format.  For example
    http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
However, even if your computer is able to read the Mac's disk format, iTunes cannot be used to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  But there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
So, you may be able to do it by first making the iPod's disk readable on a Windows PC, and then using a method (that is not iTunes) to transfer its song files to your computer's drive.  After the song files are on your computer, you can add them to the iTunes library.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can a slideshow made in iPhoto be exported to my iPod

I've spent the better part of the day building a slideshow/presentation. My intention was to put it on my iPod, and then play it through a TV. My problem is I can't get it from iPhoto to iTunes in order to transfer the slideshow to my iPod...I can move the slideshow to my desktop, and then to the iPod but it doesn't show up on the iPod display...there doesn't seem to be any direction in the help area for doing this...is it posible??? Any suggestions??? Please help...William Collier

I thought that was probably the case.
For tablets and phones I was thinking about applying CBTs to my topics to remove some images, abridge some content, and change certain terms--such as using "tap" instead of "click." I was hoping to avoid the "carefully edit each of the Multiscreen layouts" part of the process.
Do you think it might be feasible for the Responsive HTML5 functionality to be enhanced, in a future release, so that a user could define a few sets of breakpoints, on a Settings screen tab, thereby allowing each set of screen dimensions to be associated with its own conditional build expressions?

  • HT201302 Can I tranfer photos from a different computer onto another via an Ipod 5th gen?

I had saved all of my family photos onto my ipod nano 5th gen. Due to sperstorm sandy I lost my desktop and all of the photos. My ipod is not trasfering the photos from the old computer. Is there really no way to do this? "You can import only photo and video content taken with the built-in camera or captured on the device. You cannot import photo or video content synced from iTunes." - This deeply troubles me. I am able to transfer the videos captured by the Ipod but not my old photos.

For synced photos you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.

  • Ipod 5th gen/Vista and Photos

When I sync my 5th gen. video Ipod the sync tries to open and load photos. But I have my photos not to transfer.

heres an update, i reconnected it to the dock (when its powered off) and apparently it still can charge the ipod. Apparenty the hard drive must have ran the battery dry and now the little icon for "very low power" is shown.
oh wait, now theres the little black apple. Hopefully this thing isnt bricked...

  • IPod 5th gen - I used it as a hard drive to transfer to new laptop but something is wrong,my ipod will not let me access my music

iPod 5th generation - I tried to transfer my music using ipod as hard drive to a new laptop (windows) - something went wrong (probably me) now my ipod will not let me access the music which was stored on it - it now says it is at capacity when I put on 3000 songs on it - (30gb)

    Hello otwlottie,
So you successfully transferred the music from your iPod to your new iTunes library correct? If so, did you restore your iPod to factory settings after that?  Maybe start there for now.

  • Photo file loading onto ipod 5th generation

I am trying to load photo files onto my new 5th generation ipod but they don't load as the logical 1 to 2 to 3..... file numbers as I have organised in itunes photo folder. For example all the photos I have edited, eg:rotation, end up being loaded last in my ipod. How do I keep the same file number order in my ipod as is in the itunes folder??

No, the Nano has no WiFi capability. Try the app Senuti.

  • IPod 5th Gen: no photos/videos tab, Update & Restore buttons grayed out

Hi, I've got a PowerBook G4 667 DVI with a Macally cardbus USB 2.0 adaptor. I also have a sorta new 5th Gen 60GB iPod (bought Oct 2006). Using OS X 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.0.2.
I've already reinstalled the OS and iTunes a couple of times. No luck yet.
Since day 1 with this iPod, I've had these problems (using both USB 1 and 2):
    (1) The photos and videos tabs do not appear in the iPod pane. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302583 is useless, as is the article it points to.)
    (2) The update and restore buttons are always grayed out. The iPod came PC formatted. In order to Mac format it, I tried everything, struck out with tech support on the phone, and finally had to take it to the Apple store. It worked, restored, and reformatted fine on their iMac. Took 5 minutes. But still, with my computer, I still have the same problem.
    (3) Whenever the iPod syncs, I get the following error message:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because your iPod software is too old. Go to the Summary tab and click Update," yada yada.
But I can't, since Update is always grayed out. The result is that none of my iTMS purchases will sync. All my mp3s and non-FairPlay music syncs fine. My computer is registered, and I do buy/download without problems. Maybe the iPod doesn't know what account it's linked to?
    (4) Not a problem, but perhaps a cue to the cause of the others: in the Summary tab, software version and serial number are both "n/a".
Any ideas? I'm out of ideas.
    Thanks.

After about a month of not using my 5th generation iPod, I connected it to the computer... only to be greeted by the wrong icon for the iPod itself and iTunes no longer recognizing it as a 5th generation iPod. The update/restore buttons are also greyed out, and no amount of restoring on different machines and updating and reapplying OS software seems to make a difference.
You are not alone on this one. I am at a loss as to what to do software wise, since it used to work just fine.

  • How do i transfer all my music from my ipod to 4gen to my new laptop so i can put it on my new ipod 5th gen

Having trouble trying to get all my music transferd from my ipod to my laptop to put it on my new ipod 5gen that i just bought... Tried syncing it to itunes and it didnot work... Can anyone help?? Email me at [email protected] please....

The way I had to transfer my music from my 4th Gen. to 5th Gen. ipod touch was and still is iCloud. Look up iCloud and how you use it. You'll need to Download iCloud onto your Labtop(Log in, follow the steps ect.). Make Sure To Activate iCloud on you're 4th and 5th Gen. In both Ipod settings.(Just a note this was my personal way of doing this. There is other ways im sure, just sharing my way hope it works.

  • Photo's won't transfer to my 5th gen. video ipod in itunes 7.0.1.8

I plug in my ipod and it does it's bussiness but part way through I get this error message:
the ipod "my ipod" cannot be updated. the required file cannot be found.
I found that everything else is transfered correctly ie music, music videos, movies, podcasts. But the photos aren't transfering. I tried manually doing the transfer by clicking apply in the photo window of itunes when the ipod is connected but to no avail. Can anyone help with this?

  • How do I stop iPod 5th gen from syncing Photos, not just music?

It is so long since I used my old iPod that I've forgotten how to select what I want and don't want to be downloaded.
When I synced it, it started downloading over 1000 photos from iPhoto.  All I want to do is add an album I purchased from the iTunes store and a new playlist in iTunes.  I can't even tell what it's downloading because all I see is a kind of flashing Do Not Enter sign with "Do not disconnect."
How am I supposed to know what it's downloading and when it's finished?
    Help!

I would have a look at your iPod's User Guide for assistance on the different syncing preferences you can set up with your iPod and the different content that can be synced to it.
