Slideshow music not enabling

It's obvious probably. Got my iPhoto pics up and can enable a slideshow. The playlists show up easily enough but under photos>settings>music.....it will not move from the 'off' position. How to guys?

You are clicking on the Save button in the Setting pane, right? If so and it's still not remembering the selection delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Slideshow Music not remembered??

I'm running iPhoto '08 7.1.2 on my Intel iMac running OS 10.4.11. For some reason, iPhoto will not remember Slideshow music assignments. When I click the Play button for an album, I get this message "The music you selected can't be found or can't be opened".
The good news is that if I click the Music pane in Slideshow settings, the music can indeed be found and played every time. But it seems strange to have to assign the music each time I play the slideshow. Any thoughts on how to get iPhoto to remember music assignments? Thanks!

Iphoto 11 slideshow & music not working [OSx 10.8.2]

Hi,
For some reason my slideshow will not play music after I press "PLAY."
Is there a reason for this? Volume is up and everything looks to be ready to play the slideshow; I think is has to do with the new OS. I've had no problem in the past.
Any thoughts?

Iphoto 08 slideshow music not playing

After making a slideshow with iphoto I mixed some songs together using garageband, then exported the mixed songs to iTunes.
But when I choose that track in iTunes for my slideshow it doesn't play. I've tried a bunch of other songs they won't play either. I have done this before using iphoto 06 and didn't have any problems. But now with 08 I can't seem to get any music to play with my slideshow.
Which means no exporting to iDVD, no burning to a disk, no showing off to my friends.
Can anybody tell me what my problem is??

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you able to get non-Garageband mixed playlists to work in iPhoto's slideshows? If so then there's something GB is doing to the joined tracks that iPhoto doesn't like. For that you'd probably get more informed responses in the Garageband forums.

Slideshows & Music not working

It's intermittent - sometimes the music will start and sometimes it won't. Usually it won't when I have client sitting down to view their proofs. Sometimes it works better if I start iTunes first - sometimes not.
What the heck is going on?

As a workaround, and provided that you have Adobe Acrobat Professional, you can export your slideshow in PDF format from Lightroom 2, and import it into Acrobat Professional. There you can embed music (in MP3 format) in the slideshow. You can then save this modifed PDF file containing your slideshow, and the slideshow with music then works independently of Lightroom completely. You are also then able to email the slideshow with music to clients so they don't physically have to be sat in front of your machine running Lightroom to view the slideshow. The only drawback is that you don't have control over the speed of the transitions between the slides, nor the duration of each slides. Otherwise, it works fine. Hope this helps.

IPhoto '11 (9.5) Slideshow music not working

Having made hundreds of slideshows with iPhoto before version '11 (9.5), I now find that either way I attempt to add music to a slideshow I get silence. I double checked the Music menu that appears when the show plays, to be sure that the "Play music during slideshow" box is checked. My music selections for a 'Custom Playlist' do appear in the menu box. Any ideas?

(OSX and the related apps worked fine -- why tamper with a working tool, Apple?!)

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Credit to user keysandfood who figured that one out.

Music not playing in slideshows

I need help with getting the music to play in my slideshow, its not playing at all. My music is in .mp3 or .m4a format and neither will play. I cant get them to work at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Yes, the tracks were purchased in the iTunes store. I'm sure that DRM is the culprit. Seems like an obvious answer now that I think about it.

Slideshow Titles don't display; Music not controlled.

The Apple TV does not show titles on slideshows that I created in Macbook and synced to Apple TV. The music I chose for the slideshows is not the same as I selected on my Macbook - kind of random selection from the Apple TV Playlist. How can I get Apple TV to display picture titles and play the correct music?

it created an identical file (in Movies tab of iTunes), then gave me a message ""MovieName" was not copied to the Apple TV "Apple TV" because it cannot be played on this Apple TV." However, it actually did transfer to Apple TV, and would play, and it showed the titles.
I suspect that the reference to not being able to be played on the tv is as a result of the original file, which wouldn't be playable and why you created a new version, you can safely delete the original.
The drawback is that the "movie" slides are grainy, nowhere near the quality of using the iPhoto slideshow. Plus the movie does not fit my TV monitor where the slideshow fills the screen. I don't know if there is a solution to this problem.
Yes unfortunately the older imovie wasn't the best at creating movies. imovie 09 is much better, I've linked a couple of examples for you to try on your tv if you wish to see how the newer imovie does things a little better.

My music not playing with slideshow

Since updating my iPhoto to version '11 version 9.5, the music I select to play with my slideshows does not play. The canned theme music does play however.

I had problems with some 3rd party slideshow apps when I had the library on an external HD. However, I'm not sure I moved it there like I told you to do.
If you have Quicktime Pro there is a fairly easy way to add your music to the slideshow. It goes like this:
1 - export the slideshow from iPhoto without the music.
2 - if you have more than one music track to use join them together into a new file with an audio editor like Garageband, Amadeus Pro or Audacity.
3 - open your music track with QT Pro 7.
4 - Open the slideshow movie with QT Pro.
4 - in the slideshow window type Command+A (select all) and then Command+C (copy).
5 - go to the slideshow window in QT Player and select Edit->Add to Selection and Scale.
6 - save the merged item as a self contained movie.
This will add the slideshow to the music and scale the slideshows length to match the music. Don't do it the other way around as the music timing will be altered changing the speed and pitch of the music.
With this method and if you have more than one track you can overlap and fade between tracks eliminating the dead air that often results between tracks. It also will assure that the music will end with the last slide. NOTE: I add a blank, black slide at the end of my slideshows so the last slide fades to black and the music ends on the black slide.

I agree cwclark, I was going to ask the exact same thing, and yes, the only way to 'restart' the auto play is to reload the page which is frustrating to say the least. Every other site I've seen with this kind of 'auto-play' slide show still auto-plays even after clicking the 'next' or 'previous' buttons. Adobe, you need to get a fix for this ASAP

Slideshow still not working with music

this is step by step what im doing
photos>slideshow settings>music>playlist, after i select my playlist it goes back one menu to the slideshow settings so then i went back to the playlist and hit the play button it does nothing, so now i go and i select the playlist from the music option then go back in and select the same playlist in the slideshow settings and still nothing?!

heres what happens
when you do this
photos > slideshow settings > music > playlist
this only sets up the slideshow music, thats why its called 'slideshow' settings. so to make it work (test it) go back to your photo library and press play on your first picture. dont go back to your music playlists.

Front Row Slideshow Music Problem

Hello:
I have been unable to change the Photo Slideshow music in Front Row. I go into iPhoto, select SlideShow and select my music, but it does not seem to save it to Front Row. I've even tried making my selections as "default" but it doesn't work.
I've tried repairing permissions on my disk, and there do seem to be problems with Front Row. However, no matter how many times I repair, the permissions still persist. Log file below
Can anyone offer any tips to a newbie (recently switched from a PC.)

Thanks; that's a relief, though the permissions that are referenced in the thread you pointed out (that can be safely ignored) seem to me mostly related to iPhoto Access and not Front Row (I seem to have both Front Row and iPhoto permission problems.)

In researching the issue you are experiencing I found an article that should help get your iTunes Match content to your iPhone. The name of the article is iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match and you can find it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913.
This section specifically:
To add an iOS device to iTunes Match
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.
Note:
iTunes Match requires iOS 5.0.1 or later; you can find the
latest iOS software here'
Tap the iTunes Match switch to On.To access your music in iCloud, open the Music Player app on your device.
Your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your device.
Important:
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is enabled1. To disable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > Music > Use Cellular Data > Off.

Guys, I found another user and what he said to do worked!!! I have copied the information below:
This was 1 of the things that happend to me too, the other one was that at the bottom of the itunes page were it says all the memory info, it marked that I had over 3gb of other memory wich I didn't.
Anyways what I did was to unmark the calendar, contacts etc. ( so that they wont sync with the computer ), pressed apply, then I marked all of them again, apply again and for last I pressed Sync wich is at the bottom right coner by the apply botton.
I'm not sure that had anything to do with it but it worked, my music appeard both of my itunes playlists and the ones I bought in itunes. Also the other memory dissapeard and it's all good.
I'm not sure this will help you but thats my 5 cents, if the problem continues its better to call customer service and ask for a technician.
