  • Music stalling after leopard install

Seems that after I installed Leopard or one of the later updates my music stalls and freezes the ipod for about a minute than it goes to dark with apple icon. My podcast play fine. I have the newest version of iPod software. and newest version of leopard. 30gig iPod with 18gig free.

I'm running Leopard and 1.2.3 no problem. Why does everybody blame Apple software instead of trying to fix the problem?

  • Psc 1315 Cartridge stalls after each page

I have a psc 1315 all-in-one printer that works perfectly to one exception. After finishing a page and before releasing it, the cartridge carriage starts making a clunking sound that makes the whole printer stagger. It then stops, lights up the "check paper" and "check print cartridge" lights, and an error box comes up saying "cartridge stalled". When I lower the print gate it releases the page and the "check paper" light comes off. When I lift the gate back up it makes some more clunking sounds and the "check print cartridge" light comes off. Then silence...  When I print a self test page this is what I get:

However, since I want to only print in black, I may have found a workaround.

  • Is it possible to play one music video after another in itunes/front row?

Hi all. Can anyone help me with this problem? When I use the movie part of front row to watch and listen to music vids I have front row goes back to the movie menu after each video has ended. Is it at all possible to watch one video after another without having to scroll down to the next music video after each music video has finished playing? Not sure if im being incredibly dense but any help would be greatly appreciated. I have Apple Care and they have no idea what im on about!
    Thanks Rob

I've been doing some experimenting on this. I made a smart playlist in iTunes to gather all my music videos (which I have previously tagged with 'VIDEO' in the comment field).
In Frontrow, iTunes will not play the video at all- it just shows a single frame and plays the audio; in Movies, music videos, it will play one music video correctly, but then go back to the music video menu. This seems to be a known problem.
My solution is to go back to the desktop and use iTunes in the old fashioned way! Selecting my new VIDEO smart playlist will play all my music videos in any order I like using the normal parameters i.e. random, alphabetical by artist, album, name etc..
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhoto slideshow music won't work after updates

I installed the two latest updates from Apple (iTunes and Quicktime, I think) yesterday evening, and now when I try to Share an iPhoto slideshow as a QT movie, the music doesn't come through. I used Disk Utility to repair disk permissions, but that didn't help. I send slideshows to my friends all the time -- this problem occurred only after the latest updates were installed so I know that one (or both?) is the problem. I am really frustrated! Is there anything I can do other than wait for Apple to offer an update to their update?
iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Just installed latest updates from Apple

Are you able to open iPhoto's preferences easily? That and the music issue was a bug in an earlier version of iPhoto 7. Be sure you've updated to 7.1.3 and have applied the iLife Support 8.2 updater.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

When I export photos to IPhoto slideshow they crop more and more after each play. Is this common?

No. In fact, I've never heard of it before.
It might help if you could give us some details. What do you mean by "export photos to iPhoto Slideshow"? DO you mean you're adding photos to a slideshow in iPhoto? Or hat you created a slideshow in iPhoto and exported that to the Finder?

Music on my iPhone has become very difficult to edit since upgrading to 5.0.1.  If I simply want to delete some songs, it insists on a complete sync cycle after EACH one I delete.  This is so annoying… (I have over 400 Christmas songs I won't need until next year) I have also noticed it randomly keeps updating album artwork…adding more time to each sync.  Is there some way I can turn off the syncing until I have picked and deleted all the songs I want?

The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way.

Unless you'd signed up to iTunes Match then they won't be in the Cloud, only music purchased from iTunes (if you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded) will be there. Have you not still got it on your computer and/or on a backup which you can use to sync it back to the iPad ?

  • IPhoto 5 slideshow music still available after upgrade to iPhoto6?

I've just upgraded to iPhoto6 and see that the default slideshow music has changed. I'd still like to use the iPhoto5 default music - does anyone know if this should still be available?

iLife 6 installs a new bunch of sounds, tunes, Garageband loops, etc. as well as the older ones. I believe you will be very impressed with the assortment that Apple provides (/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects Folder). I know I was!

  • Music glitch after every 99th slide

After creating a slideshow with music in iDVD, during playback there is a major glitch in the music after every 99th image is shown.
Any ideas on what causes this and how to prevent it?

iDvd treats images as chapters in slideshows. Many set top dvd players can't understand anything beyond 99 chapters and they often drop the audio at this point which is what you might be experiencing here. Suggest you use 99 or less slides per slideshow.

    Quoting F Shippey:
There are inherent problems in iDVD created slideshows because each slide is treated as a Chapter and a slideshow is a Track. The DVD spec limits Tracks to 99 Chapters and up to iDVD 6, slideshows were limited to 99 images. Starting with iDVD 6, Apple created something of a 'hack' that linked together Tracks making slideshows or more than 99 images possible. The problem is, many/most set top DVD don't like the 'hack' and pause/quit/drop audio after 99 images. Some set top DVD players even drop the audio with each transition.
The ONLY sure way to create a slideshow with audio that will run with no problems is to create it as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie (or Photo to Movie or FotoMagico (which I use)).

  • HT1479 I would like to know how to burn a dvd in such a way that each image can be skipped over by pressing the skip button.

I would like to know how to burn a dvd in such a way that each image can be skipped over by pressing the skip button? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Here's how top get a slideshow that will let the viewer manually control the forward and backward movement of the slides with the forward and back buttons on the DVD remote.
1 - put the images you want to use in an iPhoto album.
2 - launch iDVD, select a theme and add a slideshow using the "+" button at the bottom:
3 - click on the Media button at the lower right hand corner of the window and then click on the Photos button.
4 - locate the iPhoto album containing your photos and drag it into the left hand pane:
5 - select Side Duration to Manual.
In order to get the maximum manual control of the slides you cannot have add any music to the slideshow.  If you do add music the slideshow will continue you advance unless you pause the slideshow and/or use the advance/back buttons and then pause.
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Problem with Slideshow music:

Recently I had just gotten back from a long trip to Australia. Just the other day I was finishing up a slideshow and finding music to go with it. Right when I had the playlist to use selected under the slideshow's music settings, I accidently clicked the 'sort by name' tab and now my songs are out of order! And I cannot deselect it! I had to go in ITunes and had to manually change ALL the names of the songs to have them play in the right order... It is even the same in all my old slideshows and whenever I create a new one...
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto, reset its preferences back to what you want, i.e. appearance, etc., and then try the music again. You'll find that the iTunes playlist is back to its original order set in iTunes.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. • Slideshow Music Export Problem

My slideshow has 4 iTunes songs playing in the background. It works fine when I view it in iPhoto, but when I export it to a .mov file, the music is missing. It only seems to work when there is only 1 song.
Anybody know how to fix this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just ran a test with 3 songs and was able to export to the desktop as a Quicktime at 640 x 480 movie and all songs came thru OK.
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
