Slideshow music vanished

I exported my slideshow to iDVD, and burned it to DVD. Halfway through the slideshow after the 3rd song, the music stopped. I confirmed that the playlist included 8 songs, and I received no error messeges when the slideshow was transformed into a movie, or when the DVD was burned.
Any thoughts?

Did you export a slideshow from iphoto using playlist?
If that's the case, I had the exact same problem.
Here's what I did, and it worked (there's probably a
quicker solution), but this fixed it for me.
Open imovie. Import the songs from your playlist- so that
they're strung together- basically as one track. ( forget
your photos here- just the songs).
Then save it as a quicktime file on your desktop.
Open iTunes and import that file into iTunes.
Go back to iphoto, and select that "song" as the music for
your slideshow. Then send that slideshow over to idvd.
Hope this works for you too.

  • Movies and music vanished from iPhone 3Gs

Hello! I discovered today that mysteriously, all of my movies and music vanished from my iPhone 3Gs. I have not recently synced my phone or updated the software. My iMac is currently on a FedEx truck being shipped out west for a month long vacation so syncing is not an option. Also, when I try to download new stuff from iTunes, the phone tells me there's not enough space when there is plenty since all my music and movies are gone. I called Apple and essentially, I was told that they couldn't help me at this time. Has anyone else had this happen? It's incredibly frustrating as I was planning to watch movies on the plane

Apparently, data or metadata is corrupted on your phone.  Assuming that your phone was never jailbroken or hacked, the solution is to restore in iTunes using your most recent good backup, but without your computer that's not an option.  Simply syncing with it probably won't work for the same reason you can't download, and risks replacing a previous good backup with corrupted data.
You can try resetting, but I'm not optimistic - press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.

  • Front Row Slideshow Music Problem

    Hello:
I have been unable to change the Photo Slideshow music in Front Row. I go into iPhoto, select SlideShow and select my music, but it does not seem to save it to Front Row. I've even tried making my selections as "default" but it doesn't work.
I've tried repairing permissions on my disk, and there do seem to be problems with Front Row. However, no matter how many times I repair, the permissions still persist. Log file below
Can anyone offer any tips to a newbie (recently switched from a PC.)
    Thanks,
    Dan

Thanks; that's a relief, though the permissions that are referenced in the thread you pointed out (that can be safely ignored) seem to me mostly related to iPhoto Access and not Front Row (I seem to have both Front Row and iPhoto permission problems.)
So, can anyone offer any suggestions on how to change my music in Front Row's Slide Show?

  • IPhoto 5 slideshow music still available after upgrade to iPhoto6?

I've just upgraded to iPhoto6 and see that the default slideshow music has changed. I'd still like to use the iPhoto5 default music - does anyone know if this should still be available?

iLife 6 installs a new bunch of sounds, tunes, Garageband loops, etc. as well as the older ones. I believe you will be very impressed with the assortment that Apple provides (/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects Folder). I know I was!

  • Slideshow music from iTunes

I can't see separate tracks in my iTunes (5.0.4) library when selecting background music for an iPhoto slideshow. I have tried the two options suggested in iPhoto Help (on involves recreating the musi9c library), but neither resolve the issue. I can see and select separate albums within the library, but can't see or select specific individual tracks. Any suggestions?

    HI Richard,
Take a look at the links and video clips to see if they might help.
    How about these screenshots...
    1. Playlist menu
    2. Library Menu
    3.Move dimple down
    4. Click Playlist

  • Slideshow music option "stuck"

Oddly, I'm unable to open folders or files from GarageBand demo songs or iTunes (library or playlists) when selecting music for a slideshow. All was working well until today after I added a new batch of photos. If I click on the iTunes library icon after selecting the "music" icon (in slideshow), no listing of song choices appear (as before, when all worked well). Instead the first song in the library just begins playing. Same with playlists or GarageBand demo songs. No song names are displayed -- only the first selection plays after a double click (and subsequent songs play as well in each list). The "find" function in slideshow music seems stuck too. Type in a song name from the library, hit return or the play arrow and I still get just the first song in the library list. I tried quitting iTunes, iPhoto, etc. as suggested in "help" but that didn't solve the problem. Nor did rebooting (twice) help. Am I overlooking something obvious, or are more sinister forces at work here? Suggestions welcomed!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There's a little dimple in the horizontal bar below the window with the iTunes library icon. Click and drag down to reveal the playlists and individual tracks.

  • Slideshow Music not remembered??

    Hey gang-
I'm running iPhoto '08 7.1.2 on my Intel iMac running OS 10.4.11. For some reason, iPhoto will not remember Slideshow music assignments. When I click the Play button for an album, I get this message "The music you selected can't be found or can't be opened".
The good news is that if I click the Music pane in Slideshow settings, the music can indeed be found and played every time. But it seems strange to have to assign the music each time I play the slideshow. Any thoughts on how to get iPhoto to remember music assignments? Thanks!
    Dave

    Dave:
You are clicking on the Save button in the Setting pane, right? If so and it's still not remembering the selection delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I add more than one song to slideshow music? (was BG)

  • All Windows Media Player music vanished.

I rely heavily on Windows Media Player (WMP) for music for my special needs adult son.  He likes to add music to his smartphone, and frequently dumps and reloads it.  Yesterday, ALL music vanished.  I did a system restore, but to no avail.
I am not proficient when it comes to addressing system problems. so please help a novice.

You'll probably want to turn off Windows Media Player's options for updating media information from the internet or reorganising files based on tags. WMP will normally find files that you move manually or using other software but iTunes won't - move it and iTunes loses track of it.
Maintaining/moving your iTunes library is much easier if all the content is inside the *iTunes Media* folder so it might be worth considering placing your media files inside the iTunes Media folder before importing them into iTunes. This also ensures that iTunes won't try to make any copies (other than for .wma) during the import. If, like me, you are particular about how your files are organised (file & folder names longer than 35 characters as WMP would use etc.) then make sure the *Keep iTunes Media folder organised* option is turned off. WMP will find things you move. Also make sure iTunes rip format is set to mp3 so that anything you rip in iTunes is also available to WMP if you want.

  • Slideshow Music doesn't play in iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks 10.9

After ugrading to Mavericks 10.9 and then to iPhoto 9.5, music from playlists in my iTunes 11.1.2 Library doesn't play in iPhoto slideshows.  Music shows up in the iPhoto Slideshow Music menu OK, but won't play there or in slideshows themselves.  Both worked fine in OSX 10.8.5 and iPhoto 9.4.3.
Oddly enough, the built-in Sample Music and Theme Music from the iPhoto Slideshow menu DO work!
Anyone else having this problem?  Any fixes.  Am holding off upgrading my other computers, since I do a lot with slideshows, and this is a big problem for me.

After yesterday's OSX update to 10.9 and the subsequent iPhoto 9.5 update to 9.5 I also have the same problem:
Music for old existing slide shows from iTunes can't be played back.
When changing the setting for the slide show length to be set by the playback time of the music, iPhoto crashes.
When trying to add iTunes music to a slide show the preview function does not work.
iTunes songs can be added to a slide show. When playing it back the songs will however not play.
To rule out an issue with my iPhoto picture library I did the following - sadly still yielding the same erroneous behavior:
    Created new iPhoto library.
    Imported 10 picutes.
Created a new slide show with said pictures.
Tried to add iTunes music: preview does not work and added song don't play when slide show is played back.

I have a slideshow in iPhoto '08, updated to the most current version, but when I click on the "Music" button to choose my music in iTunes, no window will open.
I have to have this slideshow finished today! Anyone have any ideas?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Are you able to open iPhoto's preferences easily? That and the music issue was a bug in an earlier version of iPhoto 7. Be sure you've updated to 7.1.3 and have applied the iLife Support 8.2 updater.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. • Upgrade to iTunes 8 and Music Vanished!

I cursory search didn't find anyone else with this problem. However, I don't think I can be the only one...
I upgraded to iTunes 8 on my MacBook without issue. I upgraded to iTunes 8 on my iMac and most of my library vanished. Gone. Arrrrgh. I carefully tested iTunes 8 on my MacBook before upgrading my iMac - which holds my rather extensive 12K+ file library on an external drive.
In iTunes I select my "Purchased Songs" and nothing is found - the "i" error. The iTunes database still accounts for all the songs, and yes, the Preferences are pointing to the correct folder.
I had turned on the genius option and played with that - kinda cool. And generally poked around at first and didn't notice anything missing right away.
I have downloaded a few free HD TV shows, so if they went missing before that, I'm not likely to recover anything now (data overwrite).
A cmd-i on the iTunes Music folder in the finder now says 577 items - which means 12,072 files went missing, randomly. Pre-upgrade TV shows (Dr. Horrible, etc) and all the podcast are gone (except the ones that auto updated after the upgrade). The files are actually missing - missing from the hard drive - and I didn't delete them. I last did a back up about 6 months ago, but have added a bunch since. And, yes I know I should have backed up before upgrading. But geeez, holy s*t - most everything gone!
    Any suggestions?

Ditto on your loss. I lost nearly 6000 songs with the upgrade. I still have them on the I-Pod but not on the computer. As a result I cannot attach my I-Pod to the computer as the syncing would take away what is on the pod. Most of the songs are in an archive but it would take days to transfer them over to I-tunes again. Is there a way to back load from the pod to the computer?

  • 5G iPod to TV Slideshow Music?

I have a 5g ipod video. I sync my entire itunes library and iPhoto library (all photos and albums). Only photos and albums show up on the ipod no slideshows from iphoto are copied to the ipod. I assume this is normal. My problem is when I connect the ipod to my TV using my dock and video cables to play a slideshow of an album the ipod seems to select the playlist for the background music. I want to know if there is a way for me to choose what playlist the ipod uses as background music when playing a slideshow.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

Found the photo settings in the ipod photo menu. It gets lost among the albums. it should be in the top ipod setting menu.

  • Message says my slideshow music selection can't be found or opened?

I created a Slideshow complete with music from my iTunes library and played it a number of times yesterday. Last night when I tried to run the slideshow for an event, I kept getting the message my music selection can't be found or can't be opened. The folder and all selected songs are still there and none are highlighted, but iPhoto's slideshow just won't recognize it for some reason. Some of the songs on the playlist are stored on an external harddrive as well as my main drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Jim:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First make sure you've selected only the Playlist icon and nothing else.
If still unavailable see if you can create a new temporary slideshow and access that playlist or track. If it works there then it's something with that particular slideshow.
Can you play those songs in iTunes?
