Slideshow NOT on Photo page

Is it possible in iWeb 08? I want to have a slideshow available on my Welcome page and not have to force visitors to click to another page to see it. In an ideal world, I'd want to have a video as well: am I limited to only having such media on the template pages dedicated to each media type? This is kind of a deal breaker for my site . . . Thanks for any guidance!

No. Even though you can copy and past the thumbnail box with the slideshow from a photos page to a welcome page when you publish the graphic files used for the forward, back and other controls of the page do not get carried over. Also I found that the slideshow window didn't size properly to include the thumbnail tray at the bottom. This is what I ended up with for a quick demo: Modern Theme Welcome page with photo page contents pasted into it.
Why not use a flash based slideshow on the welcome page. Here are a number of examples that can be added and scaled to suit your needs:
SimpleViewer and Flash Album Exporter
Flash Album Exporter Postcard and AutoViewer Slideshow Themes
Jalbum - there are over 100 skins/themes for Jalbum. It's free

  • Playing Slideshow with numerous photo pages

I have 5 different photo pages on my iweb site. I split them up so the load time would be quicker. Is there any way to play the slideshow and include all the photos on every one of the 5 pages? Right now, you have to play the slideshow on each seperate page.

I don't know of a way to do this with the Apple enhanced slideshow. The best thing I can think of is to have direct links to your slideshows on one page. This would make things a little simpler for viewers in that they wouldn't have to open up each photo page just to get to the slideshow...
You can link directly to your slideshows using the following URL format...
    http://web.mac.com/username/iWeb/sitename/photopagename_files/slideshow.html
    Replace:
username = your .Mac account username
sitename = your sitename as set in iWeb
photopagename = the name you gave to each photo page
You can put links for the slideshows on a page like "Slideshow Part One", "Slideshow Part Two", etc... Maybe you don't even need people to see the actual photo pages at all...just link them to the slideshows!

  • Slideshow not centering on page on iPad

I have just downloaded Muse v6.0, I have a long page with paralax scrolling, when I get to the slideshow it does not display in the centre of the displayed screen area as in previous versions, but right at the top of the page. It works fine on desktop browsers, the problem on occurs on ipads and phones.

I'm having this same problem in iOS. My lightbox is positioned at the bottom of a long page, and there are no problems on destop browsers, but in iOS it will show the lightbox at the top of the page, which no-one will know but me. All they will see is a screen that has gone grey, and they'll not know to scroll up the page to see the images. I have one hidden menu bar at the top of the page, which appears on scroll, and have tested it to confirm that with scroll switched off, the lightbox behaves appropriately. However, that's really not a solution in this instance. Is this bug going to be fixed soon, or should I redesign the slideshow without the lightbox feature?
The example is the event photos at the bottom of this page.

  • Slideshow not centered on page

I created a slideshow in Dreamweaver CS5, using "Advanced Random Images" which I downloaded from Dreamweaver Exchange.
It seems to be working, but I can't figure out how to center it on the page. I've tried padding and indents, but it won't move.
    Any suggestions?   www.epaaudio.com
    Thanks in advance!!

You need to move your random script to within the 'content' <div> and then wrap the random script in its own <div> (see below named slideShow) Then apply some inline css to the slideShow <div> (see below - style="width: 600px; margin: 0 auto; padding-bottom: 15px;">
        <!-- KW ARI Image -->
    <div class="content">

  • Photo Page - Clicking on thumbnail launches slideshow

Let me preface this by say that I'm using iWeb without a .mac account and just publishing to my Sites folder.
Whenever I create a photo page, the thumbnails that I click automatically launch a slideshow window. I've seen a bunch of iWeb example sites where clicking on the thumbnail image pops open a window with the just larger sized image (which is what I would like to happen).
Can I not do this b/c I'm not using .mac, or is there something else that I'm missing?
    Thanks for any help!

Can I not do this b/c I'm not using .mac, or is there something else that I'm missing?
That's it exactly. This Knowledge Base document spells it out. Excerpt: 'iWeb Photo pages published to .Mac have special controls and other features that are not available when publishing to a folder. To take full advantage of iWeb's slideshows, publish your photo pages to .Mac.'
What you're seeing is the old HomePage behaviour. Check out this post if you'd like to use an excellent alternative slideshow.

  • Button destinations (Photo page)

Similar to Bill Hamilton's question about auto-starting the slideshow, I would like to be able to have the album already opened when the photo page is loaded. I notice that in the browser window it reads "photos.html#0" when the album is open. Is there any way to make this the destination of the photo button? And if it is possible to change it, will the photos page still load? I'm using iweb '09.

You would have to create your own text based hyperlink menu and point the photos link to the URL of the page or window you want. If the window you want doesn't have a tool bar at the top go to Safari's View menu and select Toolbar. This will add the tool bar and URL field where you can select the URL to use for the text hyperlink. This step if needed if you want to send viewers directly to the slideshow of a photo page.
This demo page has an example of a user created navigation bar. You can get additional information on user created navbars at http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_FAQ.html.

  • Audio in a Photo Page

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add audio to a slideshow on a Photo Page? If it is possible, an explanation on how to do such a thing would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you haven't figured it out yet it appears you can take an audio file and drag it into most anyplace you like. I created a litlle audio file in garageband, converted it to an mp3 and dragged it onto my home page. worked fine. had to size a photo to 300 x whatever to be able to place a pic in it, but again worked fine.

    hope that helps.
    good luck

  • All photos in album not showing in page view

i read in one of the iweb support pages that you can only add 99 photos per album...however, i have an album that has 155 photos. so i thought, what the heck? keep loading them if it'll take it.
however, in the page layout, not all 155 photos are showing up even though they extend to a second page. if you watch the slideshow of the photos, you do see all 155 of the pics.
is there a setting i should be using to make all 155 photos viewable on the page layout?
    thank you!

sorry guys. it was an issue with the html snippet for running background music. i'm all fixed now that i've deleted the widget.
    thanks any way.

  • Albums and Related Photo Page Not Working and IE when Files Local

OK this is a tricky one for me.
    iWeb 3.0
Building and testing a site from a local folder on my MBP
Create an album page, add an album from Aperture save and publish to local folder ( Sites )
    Looks great in Safari
Testing in Windows XP (vmwear on the same machine) - Firefox works perfectly BUT Internet Explorer 7.0 and the albums will not show on the page. Manually type in the url to the related photo page and and no photos display and clicking the play slideshow does nothing.
HERE IS THE FUNKY part!! I tested a page from Old Toads site with demos of albums and it works PERFECTLY in IE. A check of the source and it too was created with iWeb 3
Tried a simple test site and same issue with local files.
So here is my question to you: Would there be any reason albums would not be working when in a site is being tested from a local file file folder?
    Thanks

    The plot thickens...
I prefered to test local to review changes and test in all browers without dealing with ftp etc. Good idea at the time but MSFT is too quirky...
I loaded the site (FTP) to my host and the albums work fine in IE... Bottom line is testing from local folders is not reliable in IE... Safari and FireFox are fine...
Side note: Most websafe fonts also sucked on IE (clear type on) so I went with images for various small text blocks. The overhead of the png files is small in the name of quality. Also no chance to get the nav bar to work with IE so that was all manually done.

  • Photo pages not appearing in IE browsers

    Hi,
Now that I've worked out image quality issues in iweb 08, currently testing my published site (temporarily in protected directory test mode). Through Safari Develop Tool I've checked various browsers and all browsers display my site correctly except IE browsers. In all IE browsers I'm noticing the photo pages are not displaying my image thumbnails except captions. Hovering and clicking the mouse over where the image should be visible brings up the slideshow and images do appear. The photo album pages are less then 12 pictures per album; images have been optimized. So this is not the problem regarding the thumbnail pages. So what could it be? Javascript issues?
Frustrated because this one issue is preventing me from displaying my site live! Of course, I could just forget about PC users but I have products I want to sell and don't want to lose potential customers. One peculiar glitch on a website scares people away.
Been searching all over the internet for answers but growing more confused. Although new to safari's develop tool and unfamiliarity with javascript fixes, curious if clicking on debugging javascript would be a remedy. If so, what would I need to do to fix the disappearing images? Or, should I just accept that iweb 08 and IE are incompatible and inform my visitors to use non-IE browsers such as Safari and FireFox? Such a letdown!
    Help most appreciative!
    Cheers, June

    I figured it out!!!
Somewhere along the way, the following permission class got added to the pagedef's of two of the pages but not the others
    <permission permissionClass="oracle.webcenter.security.auth.HierarchicalResourcePermission"

        <privilege-map operation="delete" privilege="delete"/>
        <privilege-map operation="edit" privilege="update"/>
        <privilege-map operation="personalize" privilege="personalize"/>
        <privilege-map operation="view" privilege="view"/>
</permission>once i added the permission class to the other pages they showed up in the navigation model.

  • Some Photo Pages not showing no  matter the browser

I'm using iWeb '08 and have 2 separate sites. I noticed last night that, only on one of the sites, the photo pages are not showing the photos. Yet, on the other site, the photo pages are fine. It's really weird.
    Anybody have any thoughts?
BTW, I tried to view them in both Safari and FF.
    Thanks!

Are those 3 pages constructed like the other with photos placed on the page rather than a photos page with a slideshow? Those three pages don't show the photos being uploaded. They are not listed as missing, just not included on the page (go to Window->Activity menu option). In the sites that do display correctly the photos are listed as shapeimage_3.png or something like that.
You might try republishing the entire site to see if that will jump start those three pages.

  • Slideshow not showing landscape photos

I am exporting a slideshow from iPhoto and it is not including the landscape photos, only the portrait photos. I have deleted iPhoto and re-installed it yet the problem persists. Any ideas?

    What is you URL?
How many photo groups do you have in your photo page?
iWeb only allows ONE photo group in photo page, unless you do some post processing, ie: http://hac.i4host.net/una_mas.html
There are four photo groups in that page.

  • Can you skip the photo page and have slideshow instead?

All of us have been looking for ways to cover up the download link on the photo page, or remove the subscribe link. I'm not all that happy with the fact that apple didn't change the layout on the photo page very much. The whole thumbnail thing really looks outdated, even with all the shading and border possibilities.
Has anyone figured out a way to bypass a photo gallery page, and go straight to the full screen slideshow? I would much rather have that as my default photo page.
    Thanks

1 - you can not change the photo frame size if that is what you are asking
2 - you can enlarge the photo within the frame by selecting it and using the slider above the frame
3 - you can use a different page layout -- or even theme -- see Liz Castro's web site for examples of all available layouts for each theme -- http://www.lizcastro.com/iphotobookthemes/

  • Photo slideshow not working

    Hi,
I've got a photo page which when I publish to a folder and click on a photo I get the brushed metal slideshow window with prev & next buttons, great. When I publish to .mac all I get when I click on a photo is the photo enlarged in it's own window, where has the prev/next interface gone?
Interestingly if this site is published to another host the prev/next interface appears, but not on .mac
    Examples below, click photo.
Published to .mac (No slideshow prev/next interface)
    http://web.mac.com/prudom.house/iWeb/PrudomHouse/Restaurant.html
Published to another host (With slideshow prev/next interface)
    http://www.prudomhouse.com/PrudomHouse/Restaurant.html
Am I missing something really obvious?
    TIA, Jules
    MacBookPro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

iWeb Photo pages use a new-style slideshow when published to .Mac. This is accessed via the Start Slideshow button. As you've discovered, clicking on a thumbnail opens an enlarged version of the image in its own window. This is intended behaviour, and is among the differences listed in iWeb Help between publishing to a folder and publishing to .Mac. Search Help for 'slideshow' for a bit more info.

trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.
if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.
    many thanks for your help.

Photos are added to book in chronological order.  So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
1 - select all the photos in the album.
2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.
