Slideshow on IOS 7.1.1

According to Apple, I can make a slidehsow by
Create a slideshow from selected photos
Tap two or more photos or video clips, an album, or an event, and tap .
Tap Slideshow.
Under 7.1.1, Slideshow does not show up as an option. The only options are sharing (AirDrop, Message, Mail, iCloud, Facebook, Flickr) and copying or printing.
Any suggestions?

That are the options you are seeing, when browsing the photos in the Photos.app. Are you sure, that you have been using the iPhoto.app and not the Photos.app? You need to be running iPhoto, to create slideshow like this.   In iPhoto you should be seeing the screen below - look at the line "Create a Project".

  • No Music when Airplaying a Slideshow from iOS Photos

The Photos App in iOS 8 has a slideshow feature which (in theory) allows you to play a slideshow of all photos in an album with a variety of transitions and with music selected from your iTunes library.
The slideshow is initiated from a slideshow button in the App. Dialogue shown below.
When playing the slide show on the iPad, it works as advertised...photos cycle and music plays.
As shown, however, you should be able to Airplay the slideshow to an Apple TV.
The issue I've hit is that, although the show Airplays across and cycles through with no issue, the music just refuses to play, so the photos cycle through in silence.
Audio air playing is working as I can play a song using the music App and it streams over the slideshow playing on the Apple TV.
    Gear is:
iPad Mini Retina (1st Gen) + iPad 2 both running 8.1.2
Apple TV (2nd Gen) on latest released version
Any thoughts on possible reasons/fixes or is this just an AirPlay bug?

  • HT203082 Slideshow Crashes Photos in iOS 8 on iPad

Whenever I start a slideshow in iOS 8 on my iPad, it plays normally for 2-3 minutes and then crashes the Photos app.  Any thoughts on a workaround?
I am using a 3rd generation iPad running iOS 8.02.  Thanks.

My iPad2 works great now after IOS 8.1 Update
    NO problem with Slide Show
This might be a reason why so many iPads won't Update right.
While the iOS 8.1 just consumes around 90MB of space, you need at least 5GB of free space to initiate the download."
Go to Settings, General, Storage, Manage Storage and you will see how much space each App uses.
I did my iPad2 16GB update thru iTunes on my iMac with 8GB of memory and it was sucking the iMacs memory very low during the update. Safari froze before loading the first web page and I did a hard boot and went fishing as I saw where it was going to take a long time to recover. When I tried again it wasn't quite right and then did one more hard boot and then did a Reset by going to General-Reset-"Reset all Settings" and it works real well now without loosing any data and in-home wi-fi clocks at 17Mbps download. I backup my iPad on my computer. Probably like most of you I’m sticking with OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks as it gets the job done very nicely and don’t need all that extra fancy stuff that probably will slow things down.

  • IPhoto problem after updating to latest iOS

iPhoto ver. 9.5.1 will no longer export any size slideshow running iOS 10.9.4. Chatroom has suggested reinstalling iPhoto as possible cause/remedy to latest iOS update! Thank you,

Did you try reinstalling the iPhoto application as suggested? It works for others who have had that problem.

  • Video mirroring not working iPad composite cable

I have a brand new iPad 3 with iOS 5.1 and I can't get my video out over to my tv via my composite cable. It says device not supported when I plug it in but I've read in other forums to ignore that notification. When I attempt to play video it only plays on the iPad with no sound. Nothing is transferred to the tv. The composite cable works fine with my iPhone 4 running iOS 5. If anyone could provide help it would be greatly appreciated.

iPad 1 is not capable of Mirroring, thorugh Airplay or otherwise..   You could perhaps Airplay from Apps with Video Output such as the videos App or the Photos App in slideshow mode.

  • Airplay does not work with slideshows and music - get the slides but no music with iPad Air2 and ios 8.1.22

iPad Air 2 with celluar with ios8.1.2 will not airplay with apple tv slideshows with music. I see the slides on the TV but do not hear the music. This works on the iphone 5s with iOS 8.1.2 and with my other iPad which is on iOS7.
This problem was reported on Nov 21, 2014 and other people had reported it prior to me.
When will this be fixed by Apple - it worked in the past and does not work now.
Should i return my iPad Air 2 and get my money back?

Problem seems to be resolved. Should have thought of it myself ;-) thanks so far!

  • In IOS 7, can I play a slideshow of my entire photo collection?

I can't seem to find an answer to this.  In the new Photos app in IOS 7 I can't find a way to play a slideshow of all my photos.  I can only play slideshows of specific albums (not all) or create customized slideshows by selecting individual photos (way too tedious).
Someone mentioned playing a slideshow of the Camera Roll album, however that album only contains about 60 images.  Not my entire collection of over 2000 images.
Further, has the slideshow option from the lockscreen been removed as well?  I used to use my iPad as a digital photo frame, but I can no longer find that option in IOS 7.
Any help anybody can provide is appreciated.
(for reference, I'm using IOS version 7.0.3 which was released on or about Oct 23rd)
    Thanks

The digital photo frame in the lock screen has apparently been removed. Your best best is to create a slide show in the photos app.

  • Does iPhotos in iOS 8 offer slideshow on iPhone?

I can't seem to get a clear answer from the internet or Apple's literature.  I can't make Photos App on my iPhone 6 with iOS8 show me a slideshow.
Some articles speak of a slideshow option within Photos App on iPhone in iOS8.  Is it possible?
I see some slideshow options in iPhone's  Photos & Camera settings, so there's some kind of provision for it.
But Photos App doesn't offer Slideshow as an option, at least where I'm looking for it.
Is this an iPad only feature?  (Don't have iPad)
What am I missing here? Is slideshow available in some other iPhone app?

iPhoto for iOS is no longer supported with the introduction of iOS 8.  These two Apple documents describe what to do at this point:

  • IOS slideshow:  all photos?  all orders?

When viewing photos on my iPhone, my most-used feature up until this iOS7 disaster has been to view a slideshow of the entire library, while set to random shuffle.  I cannot see any option to do this under iOS 7.
Am I missing yet another hidden setting, or is this another "why-can't-you-just-post-them-to-the-cloud-already, luddite" move by apple?

Apologies, I have not been clear enough again.
There used to be a little 'play' arrow that appeared beneath a photo.  I clicked that, and if I was in an album, a slideshow would start, limited to that album; if I was in my entire library, a slideshow would start including the entire library.  It would shuffle or go sequentially depending on the shuffle toggle in settings.
That little arrow is what I am missing--or the functionality it provided.
I can see options to select individual photos, and then play a slideshow from those photos, but I have 10,000 photos in my library, and need a way to get to the slideshow without selecting 10,000 images manually first.  I do not see any way to start a slideshow without selecting all the images first, or an option to do a 'global' select of an entire album or--my usual habit--the entire library at once.

  • How can I get captions to appear on photos in a Slideshow produced in iPhoto for iOS please?

I have iPhoto 2.0.1 on OS 7.0.6 and cannot see captions on pictures in slideshows. Also, is there any way to turn off the ken burns effect which is automatically applied to photographs on the iMovie timeline? Thank you.

InDesign is not a web authoring tool. If you’re expecting text to simply overlay a graphic in export HTML from InDesign you’re going to be highly disappointed.
I’ll make the assumption you know nothing about web authoring tools and HTML/CSS. I suggest you look into Muse.

  • Ever since I updated to iOS 7, I can't shuffle my photos in slideshow, even though shuffle is on. Please help:(

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. You did not say the type of restore you performed.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Slideshow on a 4 with iOS-7

I'm not too happy with the iOS-7 upgrade to MyPhotos.  To do a slide show, you need to manually select each photo in the album, and then you can start the slide show. (How about a "select all" option?)    Then when you close MyPhotos, it clears all the selected photos, so to do the slide show again, you are once again manually selecting each photo in the album.

OK, I just saw the answer in the "more like this" section.  Couldn't delete the original post.

  • Any way to change the iPhoto (iOS/iPad) slideshow speed?

Using iPhoto on iPad, there is a slideshow feature, but I can't find any setting for the duration per slide? Is it possible to change this at all?

    Hi Léonie
Thanks for your suggestion. I had also found that Settings option.
However, the Photos app has a major drawback compared to iPhoto: when output via the HDMI external adapter, it uses the default (utterly idiotically infuriatingly inappropriate) TV underscan, so it doesn't fill a Full HD screen. iPhoto is more sensibly designed and doesn't underscan, so photos are shown full-screen.
So I find myself apparently caught between two Apple apps that both have obvious, glaring deficiencies!
I wonder if Apple software engineers EVER examine real-life product usage or even talk to actual users.

  • How would an Apple fan keep unwanted images out of Photostream in IOS 8?

So Apple decides that people don't need an uncluttered thumbnail view of all photos stored in their iPhone in IOS 8. And the UI geniuses also decide that the concept of cloud (aka "server side" in 90's terms) storage and local storage is just too much for the average iPhone user to grasp.
The UI design choices that sprung from this mindset have reduced usability, efficiency, but more importantly the family friendly reputation that Apple trades on in nearly all of their marketing material.
Finding images (particularly when you have thousands) in the Years/Collections/Moments(Maps too!) paradigm is ridiculously inefficient compared to a scrolling screen with rows upon rows of thumbnails touching each other in chronological order. Of course we can quibble about whether the chronology should be based on file creation dates or EXIF metadata but those are decisions that we don't get in the IOS world (yes, another complaint). My main point here is that they had no reason to get rid of Camera Roll. Why can't it exist alongside the YCMM world of dates/locations and useless search tools? Let's face it, the new Recently Added Album is just a silly smart folder as are all the other albums. Why can't I change the 30 day date range to one of my choosing? Or why can't I add what Apple would call a Smart Album into my Albums just as I can add Cro-Mag dumb albums that need constant updating? This would bring back that good old Camera Roll functionality so people not confused by cloud vs local and like to keep track of their original image files could be happy. And the people that need Simple would be happy too.
But back to my original query. I use my iPhone for many purposes including work. I also take iPhone screenshots for work. I also take a lot of pictures and not all of those images should be in my family and sharing oriented personal Photostream. After all Apple, you sold me an Apple TV which I can fire up and share my recent life experiences with others. Why the heck would I want product photography, conference room whiteboard pics, iPhone wallpaper, and all the different images that are not the "selects" but that I want to archive using Lightroom or iPhoto anyway showing up IN MY FAMILY SLIDESHOWS? One of the benefits of digital imaging is the cheap cost of creating and storing many images. I use my iPhone often as I would a DSLR and I frequently shoot many images that are very similar, sometimes using burst mode in the phone. Why would you force me to completely delete images that are not "favorites/selects" just so I can maintain a decent slideshow via Photostream? Why do you not want me to have pleasing wallpaper downloaded via the sundry App Store wallpaper apps? Any new wallpaper I add will now be in the Photostream. Yes, family dinner with the Apple TV slideshow showing images of cars, puppies, clouds, and abstract patterns interspersed with the trip to the pool last weekend sure makes for some great viewing!
This is because you also killed the Photostream album view and I can no longer delete unwanted Photostream images unless I also want to completely delete the image local to the iPhone. If you go to the YCMM (Years/Collections/Moments/Maps) Photo tab there is no way to treat the local image separately from the cloud based Photostream image. This is absurd. You can't pitch Photostream as a lifestyle feature since you now prevent editing and curating this very audience specific collection of images. It's as if you forgot that a huge number of iPhone users are creative professionals! And we use our iPhones for professional purposes as well as personal.
Not to mention that this design choice HUGELY increases the probability of "inappropriate" photos being uploaded to the cloud and lost control over through hacking or just user misunderstanding of how iCloud and Photostream works. Amazing that Apple would do this considering the recent scandal.
So now I'll answer my own original question with a lame "workaround" answer. And yes, it involves a lot more work as opposed to the couple of touches that I used frequently in IOS 7 and earlier to curate my Photostream right on my iPhone: You have to have another IOS device (pre IOS 8) and delete the images from Photostream from there. Or use iPhoto to do the same. So add yet another task to your Reminders app that is now much more of a hassle.
Apple, for the love of Pete, please don't take away control over my source image files and my ability to create collections of images for different purposes.
    Thanks.

Excellently well put and accurate. The answer of course is that Apple want us to rent vast lumps of storage from them. Your point about appropriate images is well made. It's not just **** either but maybe legitimate images that you don't want shared out in the world, such as your wife and daughters caught on camera whilst sunbathing topless in the security of a private villa on holiday. That could prove embarrassing to them if they found their way out into the public domain, easily done by accident from a phone. The fact is that Apple have decided for pure commercial gain to take control of our means of controlling and storing our images. I shoot mainly portraits of my extended family and Landscapes. I don't want to share my images across mobiles etc, I want to sell them or give them to family members myself . Apple you are losing the plot here and alienating your core supporters.
