Slideshow only plays first song in 3 song playlist

I created a playlist in iTunes for my slideshow. But the iPhoto slideshow only plays the first song in the list over and over again, even if I selected a playlist of three songs when I clicked on the Music button.
Using iPhoto 08 v7.1.5

Have you tried creating the playlist in iPhoto?
Find the second and third tracks via the Finder and check their ownership and permissions.
Another test you can run is to create a new, test library, import the same number of photos as you have in your slideshow and see if you can create a slideshow and play the 3 tracks fully. If you can then the issue lies in your primary library.

  • ITouch only plays first song that I touched.

I cannot play any other songs in Music. Only the first song I touched yesterday will play. Any other album/song I touch stays grey. It will not forward to the next song on the same album. I tried shuffle, but it only shuffles the same song. It is not on repeat either. I have turned iTouch on and off. Am I doing something wrong? Please help. Everything else works fine.

when you select a song and tap the screen you see a play button, next and previous songs buttons and thane in the top left corner there is the repeat icon and in the left is the shuffle. if the icon is blue it is activated

  • Iphoto Slideshow only plays first slide of album

Ok- this is a new one for me. Never used to happen. I choose an album with 74 pictures, for example. Then when I hit the slideshow icon only the first slide of the album plays in the slideshow. ???

An easy way to select all of the photos in an album is to just click on the album in the Source pane and then start the slideshow. Even though the individual photos don't show blue, as long as the album shows blue it'll do the job.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Export QT slideshow and only the first song plays.

I did not have this problem with the previous version. All songs are from a playlist and are not purchased on iTunes. The slide show plays fine in iPhoto and then when exported only the first song plays in the QT version and after it silence. Can anyone help with this?

    Hi Dave,
This seems to be a new bug introduced after one of the updates.
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow

  • I downloaded an album from Itunes but one of the songs will only play first 4 minutes. It is the last song on the album. All other songs will play.

I downloaded an album from i Tunes but one of the songs will only play first 4 minutes of 26 minutes and then stop. It is the last song on the album. All other songs will play. The Album is U.F.O. 2 One Hour of Space Rock.

Jim, wanted to let you know it worked.  I deleted the entire album since it was an album only (26 minutes long) song, then I went to the home icon of iTunes store, clicked on purchased and saw previous purchases and bam, I downloaded the album again and it now works!!!  Thanks..

  • My iPod only plays one song at a time

I don't store any music on my iPod - only music videos. They all play fine, and they're stored as properly tagged music video files under Menu->Videos->Music Videos. After I first synced them from my PC, I noticed that they also all appear under Menu->Music as songs. I can play them all just fine, either by selecting one through Menu->Videos (in which case it plays as a video) or by selecting one though Menu->Music, in which case it plays as a regular song with a little picture displayed instead of the video.
    So far, so good.
The only problem is, I can only play one song at a time. I navigate through the menu, select either a song or a video, and the iPod will play that just fine, get to the end, and then bring up the menu again.
How can I get it to play the one I select, and then just play other random songs? It makes no difference whether or not 'shuffle' is selected, it still only plays one then stops. Also, putting the songs in a playlist doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Any advice gratefully received.

Are you sure you don't have Shuffle on? There are a couple of ways to Shuffle on a 5th Gen. iPod. You can't simply choose Shuffle Songs from the Main Menu and shuffle the entire library...or you can go to Settings > Shuffle and choose Songs or Albums and apply that to any playlist you select. The behavior you describe is what happens when Shuffle is turned on and items are set to Skip When Shuffling (an option found on the tracks under Get Info). If Shuffle is on, you should see the little green crossed arrows in the upper right of the iPod window.

  • After i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.

First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.

  • Help!  itunes will only play one song at a time

My itunes is acting screwy. I open a playlist and play the first song, and itunes only plays that song. it won't keep going forward. it doesn't freeze up; i just have to manually play the next song. this just started yesterday with no adjustments, new downloads...no nothing. does anyone know what is going on? i have already uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, but to no avail. same problem. is this a setting somewhere that i don't know about?

Are the boxes beside each song checked? iTunes will only play the songs that are checked. To check all the songs press control + click in any box. To check only some songs, you can highlight them and then right click and choose check selection.

  • Shuffle always plays first song

Whenever I turn on the Shuffle, it plays the first song in the playlist and does resume from the last song played. Is it supposed to work that way?

It seems that if you do two things you can avoid the "always plays first song" problem: (1) In the iPod settings, deselect "Open iTunes when this iPod is attached" and (2) don't open iTunes while the iPod is connected. It is the syncing with iTunes that makes it go to the first song, not the connection to the computer. The only thing is that in this state, the orange "do not disconnect" blinks, but I assume it is still charging. When done, you have have to be sure to eject the iPod first and not just take it off the charger. I've tried all of this and it seems to work, assuming it is still charging when the orange light is blinking.
As far as the iPod going back to the first song without it having been connected to a computer, that would seem to be a true malfunction of the device.

  • Ipod will only play single songs

i am not extremely adept with technology but i know some basics, i'm having trouble with my 30GB ipod video, it will only play single songs, if i choose an artist with more then one song in that category it automatically zooms through them all rapid fire and then returns to the main menu... i have no idea why or how this is happening, is it possible i have a virus of some type? if so, how can i get rid of it or fix this problem? i have tried resetting it several times and syncing several times, nothing has changed.... also my second problem is that the videos i have on my ipod will play but they do not play any sound...i am more concerned with the first problem tho. if anyone could offer some advice or help it would be greatly appreciated.

Do the songs play in the iTunes? However, usually if an iPod scrolls through all of the songs instead of playing them it is a software issue. I'd try restoring the iPod to factory settings and syncing the music again.

Also, with your second issue. Where are the videos from? If they were something you imported on your own check this out:

  • Only Plays One Song at a Time ???

I'm trying to listen to albums in my library but iTunes will only play one song at a time, very annoying to have to down arrow and click play after every song. How can I make iTunes play through my library without stopping?
I'm using iTunes 10.1 (54) and YES all the songs are checked.
    Thanks~

    <SOLVED>
I disabled the Ping drop-down from the Terminal with:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes hide-ping-dropdown -bool TRUE
and viola! Now my library plays without stopping after just one song. Not sure why this fixed my problem but it did? I guess it's just another reason to get rid of Ping!

  • ITunes only plays one song at a time, it wont play my playlist or library

all of a sudden my itunes will only play one song and then stop and when i press the "next" button, it just stops the song playing. and now there are check boxes in front of each song and i dont know what it means? i just want to be able to put my library on shuffle and play through them!!

The check boxes have been there for as long as I can remember. You can see them in screenshots back as far as iTunes 1: iTunes Screenshots
The check boxes have a number of uses: iTunes: Understanding the Symbols Next to Songs
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
The iPod has an option to only sync checked songs
The Genius & iTunes DJ features will ignore unchecked songs
Basically unchecking is a way of telling iTunes to ignore the item and exclude it from other automatic features.

  • ITunes only plays one song at a time

After much toing and froing on my new computer, I now have all my songs re-imported into the library. However, iTunes will now only play one song at a time: after it plays one song it just halts; the forward arrow is just greyed out. Any ideas would be most welcome!

Try checking all of those little boxes. To check all at once, hold ctrl while checking one.

  • ITunes only plays one song at a time ... help please

All of my songs are checked, but iTunes only plays one song at a time. I can't figure out why. Any suggestions? It just started doing this.

You don't mean you want it to play multiple tracks at the same time, do you? Like where you would hit play and ALL the songs would start playing at the same time?
Or do you mean iTunes will only play one song then stop rather than going on to the next one?
