Slideshow playing videos - or workaround?

Hi there,
another question :-)
I want to create a slideshow. On the left side I have 3 thumbs for selection. On the right side I have space for my videos.
What I want to do:
When I click on thumb #1 I want to play video#1, when I click thumb#2 I want to play video#2, etc.
I tried this with a MSO but it didn't worked. Is there another way to realise this? Any ideas?
Thx in advance!
Christian

Well, normally it should work. But if you try to superimpose 3 different movies, each started by a button, then your css and js have to be more elaborated. I am not a html guru myself, my son says, that you should use absolute positioning and create a script which would change z-index of the placed movies. If the movies were not in the same place, then you would not need that script.

  • Playing video in iPhoto slideshow

    hi,
I'm regularly recording video with my digital camera that is transfered to iPhoto along with all pictures. The problem is that these videos don't play when I present a slideshow of an event in my computer or in AppleTV.
I used Visual Hub to convert the .avi to .mp4 files optimized for iTunes but still these converted videos won't show up in an iPhoto slideshow. Is this a non-feature of the program or I'm doing something wrong? Can I sync videos from an iPhoto album and see them in my AppleTV?
    Thank you!

You cannot play video as part of an iPhoto slideshow. PhotoPresenter is an app that allows this.

  • Slideshow won't play video(QuickTime file), works fine in Keynote('08), how to fix?

Shows up in the slideshow but video does not start, even though after the time the video would play, the slideshow continues, and even plays the next video OK.  The Keynote works perfectly, the problem is only witht the recorded Slideshow, so I can't export a working version.  Ideas?

  • First play video not playing

I have a 6 second video set as my first play with the end jumping to my main menu, but when I put the DVD into a regular DVD player, I get the DVD player's spalsh screen not te first play video or even my menu. When I push menu on my remote it jumps to te main menu, but the first play video still will not play. What I am doing wrong, and what can I do to fix it?

    Hi:
Not sure what is happening but try this workaround.
    - Create a black image file (i.e. in Photoshop) with the size of your video format.
    - Create a Slideshow, import this black image and add to the slideshow. Set 1 sec as playback time for the slide.
    - Set that slide as First Play and its End Jump to your Intro Track.
If that way works please don't ask my why !!!

  • HT5295 How do I play video podcasts on my TV via the Podcasts app? After iOS 6 upgrade, I'm unable to do this.

I used to be able to play video podcasts on my TV by connecting my iPod touch to the TV via an Apple AV cable.  Now that I've upgraded to ios 6 and the podcasts app got installed along with the upgrade, video podcasts will no longer play on my TV.  It should be noted that other video content (movies, TV shows, etc) will play properly.  Is there a setting I need to make that will fix this, or is this yet another bug with the podcasts app? Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

I found a workaround that puts podcasts back in the video app as well as the music app so you can watch them on TV via an AV cable again.
The instructions can be found at this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaI9GwPKXkE
    In short:
    1. Make sure both the music and podcast app aren't running on your iPhone.
    2. Plug your iPhone into your computer and disable Podcast syncing for your iPhone in iTunes.
    3. Remove the podcast app from your iPhone
    4. Plug your iPhone into your computer again and turn on podcast syncing, then sync.
    5. Turn off and then back on your iPhone.
After I did this, I found podcasts had returned to being listed in my music and video apps.
    Hope this helps you too!

Or is the Podcast app for some reason designed so that you are unable to output a signal via the AV cable when playing back video content (this would be a pretty bad decision on apple's part).  Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

  • Play video from external HD to Apple TV

I would like to play videos from an external drive to the Apple TV.
The workarounds I've seen all involve moving the entire iTunes library to the external drive. I want to keep all my music on the internal HD but the videos on the external HD.
    Suggestions?

    Launch iTunes on your computer
    Mac - iTunes > Preferences > Advanced
    PC - Edit > Preferences > Advanced
Uncheck 'Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library'
This will allow you to drag and drop videos from the external drive to iTunes without copying to the internal drive. Once in iTunes you should be able to watch them on your Apple TV
    Hope that helps

  • IPhone 4 doesn't play video

Ever since I updated to iOS 7 my phone has lag like I've never seen. All around the phone is slow now but it didn't bother me too much. What bothed me the most was that when my phone tries to play video from anywhere (YouTube, camera roll, email) it will play it in 1 or less fps as if I was just watching a slideshow. My brother has the same phone and same problem when he updated but I thought it was just his phone until I updated too.

it seems the router is working fine. My laptop and my brother's phone is also working fine. So, why me?

  • Cannot play videos in iPhoto since SL upgrade

Since I upgraded to SL, it appears that I cannot play videos that I have loaded to iPhoto. I go into an event in iPhoto in which I have some digital camera videos and they do not play. These used to open in QuickTime and run fine. When I click on the video and choose "Show File", it will show me where the file lives. These are fine on my computer and can now run them from here, but it used to work right in iPhoto. Has anybody had this happen to them? Is it a bug with SL or is there a new setting or something I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, it's a bug. Have you applied the Mac OS X v10.6.1 Update? If not do so and try again. If that doesn't work all we can do is report the problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • How To Play Videos Without Silverlight?

    Hey SHarePoint Fam,
I am looking to start rolling out alot of videos soon but our environment does not have Silverlight deployed in our machine images.  Is there any alternative to get videos to play without Silverlight being deployed to machines?  We are IE8 shop
    Thanks so much,

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to play video without Silverlight.
We can use the HTML 5 to achieve it, however, HTML5 is not supported by all browser (especially the old ones).
As a workaround, we can use the Video.JS  to allow your browser to parse the video tag and play the video with a flash player if your browser does not support HTML5 standards.
    More information about the video.js : http://www.videojs.com/

  • Posting slideshow  to video.google--size matters

I posted earlier about compressing a wmv file I had created to email and decided just to post it to video.google.
So I posted a slideshow to video.google but no matter what I do, I can't make it "full screen." See here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=874330041612533639&q=Navy+homecoming
I'm not sure what is needed so here are the particulars: Windows XP, PSE5.0, and Organizer. I created all images as 800x600 at 72 dpi, layering the photos onto black pages. I had a couple scans and zooms. Again, the base "page" was 800x600 and I scanned and zoomed within that.
I output it as a wmv file at 640x480 and then uploaded it to video.google. And I don't get full screen
Has anyone had any experience with video.google and know what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi Barb,
I was a little rushed when I wrote my first reply, I had to go to the
dentist. I'm back from the appointment and did a little more research on
    Google Video.
It looks like things are a bit more complicated. Like YouTube and other
video services, GoogleVideo re-encodes the uploaded videos. When you play
back on the web in a browser, you're seeing a flash movie. In addition, you
can download it, and that seems to give you a mp4 for ipods or gvp/gvi
(custom avi format for use with the google player) for computer viewing.
The issue is the re-encoding. I don't know what Google is doing with the
video. At the very least, they are converting to different formats and
codec than the original (flash, mp4, and gvi). They also appear to be
resizing the video to a standard frame size. I didn't try the Google Player
download, but the embeded source for the web page seems to say that the
flash movie is 400x326. So, it doesn't look like John will be able to
benefit from a higher resolution wmv as far as GoogleVideo is concerned. In
fact, it could even make it look worse depending on how the resizing is
accomplished. A higher resolution wmv will certainly look better on a
computer. And, the resolution he has will be fine for viewing on a standard
    TV.
I don't upload to GoogleVideo so I'm not familiar with the process or the
    requirements.
John's choices for resolution are very reasonable if his main intent is for
viewing on a conventional TV. (NTSC resolution is 720x480 pixels but the
pixel aspect ratio is 0.9 -- this is equivalent to 640x480 square pixels)
In general, you'll want to resize the images to close to your intended
resolution before you make the slideshow with the exception of frames that
will be panned and zoomed which will need to be larger. Resizing in
Elements or Photoshop is generally better than what you would get scaling in
PE 3, for example, and using full sized 6mb images, for example, can result
in very long render times and may cause other problems if processed in a
video editor such as PE 3.

  • Can't play Video in Sony Xperia

This is extremely weird. I deploy my Adobe AIR app as an .apk for my Xperia and everything works fine EXCEPT playing videos.
I have tried flash.media.Video (NetStream, NetConnect etc). I get the video to play fine in the Desktop simulator. If I try to play video on the mobile device (Sony Xperia Arc S) I get a black screen!
I have managed to narrow down the source of the problem: as soon as this piece of code is encountered:
"new Video()" (yes, exactly as you see it here, nothing more, nothing less!)
the app's screen (all of it) goes black! I can still hear the music playing as well as the sound effects, but I get a completely black screen!
Occasionaly, I get a glance of the video's first frame before the screen goes black.
Trying to hack around this problem, I embedded my video as a MovieClip. However, as soon as I create an instance of the embedded MovieClip, the screen goes black again.
Finally, I have tried playing a video with the StageVideo class, but as soon as this piece of code is encountered:
    "stage.addEventListener(StageVideoAvailabilityEvent.STAGE_VIDEO_AVAILABILITY, onStageVideoState);"
again, I get a black screen on the mobile (on the desktop, I simply get a "StageVideo not available" message or something like that).
I haven't had the chance to try on another device. Is it my mobile? Is it Xperia? Is it AIR?
PS. I have tried Air 3.4 and 3.5, both in Flash Builder and Flash CS6 with exactly the same results.
PS2. Anything else to hack my way through? (StageWebView is rejected because I need to show my stuff above the video)

Hi Chris, I have come across many posts like this one here and elsewhere on the web, new Video() does cause the issue and I have tried the code with Adobe 4.6 and Apache 4.9.1 flex SDK's with combinations and ASC2 standalone AIR SDKs ranging from 3.5-3.8. My bug report has a snippet of code I compiled with Flash Develop on Windows 7 x64 machine.
Tried all the solutions/workarounds I came across without much success. Decompiled the apk and looked at the manifest, found <containsVideo>false</containsVideo>. Googled it found very little other than a release note for AIR 3.5. Checked online docs and couldn't find any reference/information on it. Could you please get that sorted? It'd have saved me several days of stress, hopefully will prevent anyone else running into the problem. Is there any reason the default is not true? Is there a performance cost?
Here is a link to my bug report:

  • Can i make a project with photo slideshows and videos mixed?

Hi, I just bought my mac yesterday, i'm new at everything then. I want to know if i can make a movie with photo slideshows and videos in between. For example, i would like to place all my photos and videos from a trip in chronological order, so when i click play there's going to be like ten photos, then a 2minute video, then photos again and so on... which program or application do you recommend for this?

Per your description, this should not be a problem from within iMovie '08. Adding slideshows created in iPhoto (contain "Tween" tracks that iMovie '08 doesn't like) or dropping too many photos on top of a single video clip (iMovie '08 can be touchy about initial placement of dropped photos) can, however, create potential problems.
