Slideshow Screensaver wont recognize photo folders

Slideshow Screensaver on my Mac Pro displays a message that there are no photos in "this" folder regardless of which folder I "point it" to.
What might I do to address this issue?
Thank you.

Compare the file types in your folder to the system screensaver folder that DO work

  • How can we get a new computer to recognize photo folders on the iPhone so they can be deleted from the iPhone?

My wife has an old Windows Vista computer that is unable to operate the new IOS. I have installed iTunes on my Windows 7 computer and authorized the computer on iTunes. We are unable to delete/recognize photo FOLDERS from her iPhone 4 on my computer within iTunes. The only photos I can pull off her phone are being recognized by the windows system as a camera plug-in from her Camera Roll on the iPhone.

iOS does not operate on the computer.
If she has Vista, she can run iTunes 11 which is needed for iOS 7.

  • Windows 7 wont recognize photos or videos from my iphone 5's.

    Greetings!
I pluged both my iPhone 5's into my computer running Win7. Upon being prompted to import pictures it will read "No new photos or videos found".
Not even Adobe Bridge will recognize that the phone has importable files.
    Any idea?

Was your phone backed up after the game but before the deletion?
You can restore from that backup.
If you do not use iCloud, iTunes will backup automatically before syncing.

  • Iphoto wont recognize photos on iphone

    Iphone 5 iOS 7.1.1
    Macbook iOS 10.5.8
    iPhoto on macbook 7.1.5
While wanting to import photos from iphone to iphoto, iphoto will recognize my iphone but says there are no items. There is clearly photos on my phone. What could be happening?

    Launch iTunes.
    Connect your phone.
WHen it asks you to trust the phone, say yes.
Then try import the photos again.

  • Photo Folders within iTunes

I have 15 photo folders which are displayed within the Photo tab of iTunes for the iPhone. For some reason, the number at the right of each folder is the same. Why is that since they are all different?

  • Screensaver Slideshow Stuck on 2 photos

When we run our screensaver slideshow, it will run fine for a little while and then always gets stuck on just two photos (not the same every time). It will slideshow just these two photos from that point on, unless you restart the slideshow. Any ideas?

I also have the same problem. It only seems to happen in conjunction with an iPhoto slideshow, if you just point to a folder of images and have it randomly cycle through them there's no problem, but consistently when I point the screensaver slideshow at my iPhoto library, it eventually gets stuck on two photos. Very irritating and I found at least two threads regarding this. C'mon Apple, step it up!?!

  • Xcode: Live streaming photo slideshow screensaver

I have 500 real nice photos of Santa Fe that I want to put into a streaming screensaver. Each photo is memory intensive, about 700k. I want to randomly download each image on-demand from my server rather than have the installer download all 315MB. So I need your help with Xcode, as I have no experience with it. All I can offer is the free slideshow, which looks great on a huge screen.

700k is not "memory intensive" by any standard, and they would still have to download the images before they could be displayed, so what would be the point?

  • Apple tv 2.2 wont sync sub-folders of photos

Since I've updated the atv to 2.2, my photos that are organized into sub-folders within a folder won't sync.
i like to keep my photos out of iPhoto, nicely organized into one Photos folder with one subfolder for each album. Till 2.1, i could goto iTunes -> Apple TV -> Photos tab, select the main Photos folder there and all the subfolders containing photos would show up. I could select all and the subfolders would sync to Apple TV. With 2.2 , this doesn't happen. I have all the options in iTunes but when i sync, it just shows Syncing and nothing happens. If i select one of the subfolders directly that contains photos, it syncs. That means 2.2 won't sync from sub-folders!! for me, it renders the device useless !
Is there a way to revert back to 2.1 ?

I am also having the same problem. My original Apple TV was version 1. The earlier version of this ATV and Itunes was able to sync photos in nested or sub folders direct from the hard drive and not using any photo program. I upgraded to 2.2 and kept the old files on my ATV and did not sync to Itunes for a long time but when I decided to sync all of my nested photo folders on the ATV were deleted and I could not re sync. I spoke to apple care support today and was advised the programming was not set up to read from sub folders. However Itunes and the apple TV directions say otherwise. I suggested to Apple they consider fixing the programming to follow what Itunes and the ATV manuals say. This is a very desired feature to have.

  • Screensaver wont use iphoto library since mountain lion

Since upgrading to mountain lion, my screensaver wont work with iphoto library... 27" 2.8GHZ iMac, 16 GB Ram.
iPhoto library has around 24000 pics in it.
    Thanks.

I did a clean install of Mountain Lion on my MBP. I couldn't find my Lion disk and ended up deciding to buy iPhoto from the App Store. I imported my iPhoto library from a back up and iPhoto updated everything, everything works fine - except that when I was looking around Mountain Lion and went to look at the screensavers, none of the fancy photo slideshows will let me use my own photos. The only options I get are the four default collections and a 'Choose Folder...' option. Since the photos are all packaged up in the iPhoto library, I can't select them (it's greyed out). I was expecting my albums, events, faces etc to be listed automatically. Tried the command above but it didn't work.

  • How do I cross-reference photo folders?

My photos are organized in folders according to the week they were taken, and I want to keep it that way. But if I want to pull up just the photos that have my friend Brian in them, how can I do that?
First off iPhoto is NOT an option. I have used several versions of the iLife suite starting with Tiger, then moving on to Leopard and (currently) Snow Leopard. And the whole iLife suite is riddled with bugs to the point where I do not want to touch them as they are completely unreliable. DVD player crashes and freezes randomly, and falsely claims DVDs are damaged when they are brand new. Now I just use VLC, and my DVD movies play perfectly every time. Something I could almost never get DVD Player to do. I have tried using iWeb, but after a few "undos" and some editing, my links no longer work, and files get dropped for no reason.
I have tried tagging photos in iPhoto, and using one Smart Folder for each tagged category. It all works great for a while, but before long, newly tagged photos stop being added into the Smart Folders, and it defeats the whole purpose.
Not to mention that iPhoto creates a huge file, and wastes time identifying faces, which is an undesirable feature I can't seem to turn off.
I am guessing the whole problem with the iLife suit is that the library coding gets super easily corrupted if you make changes (and I am not even touching any of the files outside of iPhoto, iWeb, etc.)
I can't even make aliases to the folders and organize them that way for viewing in screensaver, because Snow Leopard's screen saver can't open the photos in an alias folder.
I'm NOT going to duplicate all my folders with different names and arrange them by category. That isn't organizing, that is duplicating, and completely wasting tons of file space.
Is there any program available I can get to replace iPhoto so I can cross-reference my photos into multiple categories? And is there a screen saver program I can use to make my own screen savers that can pull files from aliases, or some other referencing system?
Is there a patch I can get so that the default screensaver will open photos from an alias in Snow Leopard, the way it always used to? Why is it so difficult to deal with what should be simple, basic programs and file organization?
I love my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard, and I love the professional programs I run on it such as Adobe and Maya, but why is the first party software complete garbage?
I know I don't sound like it at the moment, but I'm normally a polite person, I am just really frustrated right now. Just tired of banging my head trying to find ways to get around and outsmart the default programs on this OS, which has been futile, I might add.

I am so terribly glad you haven't come across the bugs I have because let me tell you they are terribly frustrating. I only wish I had made them up. There is nothing I like better than ranting without any justification whatsoever.
Okay enough of that. I really have come across these problems, and even though I may not have been too polite I don't need to be accused of falsification and stupidity thankyouverymuch.
If you had read my post you would have understood that choosing a folder is one of the many things I have tried to do that didn't work. The only folders that work have the actual files in them. And since I am trying to organize my photos into groups it does not make sense to duplicate folders of photos simply to  make them work. That takes up too much space.
Instead what I am trying to do is to not duplicate anything, but find a way to have my photos organized into groups.
Further if iLife has not presented any problems for you, you must be a very casual user indeed. These programs do not provide the depth of use that advanced users like myself require. You can go back to selling shoddy products for Apple now.
Is it possible for people to respond with HELP instead of criticism?

  • So I formatted a brand new hard drive to MAC OS (Journal), I then could save on the hard drive. Not two days later Im back at square one, the program wont recognize the hard drive again.

So, hard to beleive, but I am having some trouble with Final Cut Pro X.
This last week I formatted a brand new hard drive to MAC OS (Journal),
so that I could save on that hard drive.
    Well it went great.
I saved my project on there and copied a few others over as to free up space on my Laptop.
Then, not two days later Im back at square one,
the program wont recognize the hard drive.
It wont even open the events up off my hard drive,
as to jog the program into reqcognizing the scratch disk (which worked twice before).
    What happened?
How do I get the program to re-recongize my newly formatted hard drive?
    Please help!

The name of the drive, or the name of some folders inside the drive, may fool FCP X into believing it is a camera.
Also, you should not use the drive for time machine backups.

  • Iphoto wont recognize memory card to load pictures

all of a sudden iphoto wont recognize the memory card to import pictures. when you put card in reader iphoto launches but you dont see the card on the left hand side and it doesnt ask you to import the pictures. If you remove the card you get device removal error - then card appears on left and import button shows up but nothing happens when you push the button??
If you go to Finder the card is there and i can "select all" and drag them to iphoto. This is really strange - please help?

If your card shows up in the Finder then you can still import from inside iPhoto. Do File > Import to Library, then navigate to the camera card. You can preview the photos, select the ones you want to import, and import them to iPhoto. This is actually my preferred method, since it allows me to choose exactly which photos I want to upload from my camera.
Don't remove the card reader from the USB port until you have ejected it properly. You can do that from in the Finder. Click on the little triangle eject symbol next to the name of the card (below your HD icon). When the card disappears from the list it is properly ejected and you may safely disconnect the card reader.
I don't know why the card suddenly stopped appearing in the iPhoto Source List. One thing you can try is to use your camera to do a low-level format of the card. This has been known to improve a card's performance. The second thing you can try is to delete iPhoto's preference file. Close iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist, then move that file to the trash. You'll have to reset iPhoto's preferences back to your liking after you launch it.

  • Pc wont recognize when i plug in iphone 5s

I am trying to put pics back on iphone from pc but when i plug in Iphone to PC, it wont recognize it. Thanks

The only way to put photos back on to the iPhone from the PC is through the iTunes sync process. You connect the device to the computer, open iTunes, select the iPhone in the device pane, then go to the Photos tab, select the photos you want to sync and then perform the sync.  If you are trying to put them back by going to the camera roll in Explorer, that will not work. You cannot write back to the camera roll on the iPhone. Explorer will only recognize the phone and allow you to look at it when there are photos in the camera roll.

  • Wont recognize GL2

Ok so my imac broke and I got a new one and ever since then, I cannot upload from my GL2 into FCE. I use the DV NTSC Firewire basic like usual and still wont even let me capture anything. This is getting very frustrating and I have even tried capturing from my mom's sony dv camera and it wont recognize that either. I have tried that camera on multipe capture settings with no success. Someone help me please!!!

    • Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK eg recording and playback to TV)

    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    • FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minmum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie 8 (7.1.?) ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
*Other ways to import Your miniDV tape*
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After uninstalling Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

The problem was the external backup hard drive that is connected, you need to disconect the external drive before the mac can see the video camera.

  • Library photo folders

My photos were all separated in Library photo folders but some how they ended up in 1 library photo folder.  How can I get my photos back in the separate folders.  Or, can I add library folders to separate the photos again.

You're referring to Events, right?  Folders in iPhotoi appear in the left hand pane and can only contain other folders, albums, slideshows, books, etc.
The best way to restore your Events is to restore you library from a backup copy made just prior to this problem occurring.
Otherwise you can set the Event splitting options in iPhoto's General preference pane:
Then select all of the photos in the 1 Event and use the Events ➙ Create Event menu option:
