Slideshow share to iDVD doesn't open in iDVD but instead Quicktime

According to the help link. When I share a slideshow to iDVD, it is supposed to open an iDVD project of the same name. It doesn't, instead I have a QT movie with that name.
Also the slide show (20 minutes with audio) yep its really long (Softball season highlights) when burned to DVD plays fine in the $30 DVD player but hangs in the $400 player. Regardless if I burn from Disk Image, drag the QT movie into a iMovie HD project and then burn. I am using Verbatim dvd-r.

Try opening iDVD first and have it waiting for the import. Also what speed are you burning at? What speed are the disk capable of? Select the slowest available. The slower the burn, the more likely it's to be compatible with more players.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. IDVD doesn't open after iMovie renders

We just finished rendering a movie in iMovie 11. The tutorial said that iDVD would open automatically and it just sits there. IDVD doesn't do a darned thing. The project is due in 3 days, so if anyone has the inside scoop, please let me know..

Seems like a glitch in the process somewhere -- try these instructions from Apple to Share the movie:

You mention the project was created in iTunes, but I assume you meant iMovie?
"Rendering" typically happens behind the scenes -- which command are you using in iMovie to render multiple times?

Idvd doesn't open after update

I just updated iDVD and it doesn't open. I'm running the current OSX. Has anyone out there had this problem? And, Solved it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "without mains"
Without the plug in the Wall - Main electricity inlet.
Dodn't see What Mac You were using - for Lap-tops one also takes out the battery for same time.
More general ideas.
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
• Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK will work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’09 v. 7.0.4, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (does work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try

Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
EdinSF writes that, The 10.6.3 update with an Open GL fix seems to have taken care of the problem.

IDVD Doesn't Open after iMovie Encoding...

When I'm ready to Share my movie to iDVD, I do it. After a couple of minutes of encoding, after its complete (and it does finish), nothing happens. iDVD (which use to open every time after the encoding when selecting share to iDVD), now just sits on my dock lifeless. I've restarted my comp and checked to make sure the original ripped videos are there.

Tried to reinstall iPhoto/iDVD with the Application DVD of my Mac but it didn´t work :/

Just solved it. Deleted iPhoto, iDVD completly, installed them with the Application-DVD and updated both.

IDVD Doesn't Open

I know this issue has come up before. Except that my problem is that the icon will bob once and the program won't even open. This happened after I installed some bundled content from the install dvds. I have no idea what's going on. I tried reinstalling from dvd.

My podcast doesn't open on Safari, but does on Firefox...

Hi.
Sorry if this is explained somewhere else, but I couldn't find it.
I'm building a personal website hosted on .Mac, in which i've include a podcast. The podcast was made on Garage Band, and exported to iWeb. I then upload the files to .Mac. Until here all right. But then when opening the site with Safari, I can't see the QuickTime file which was supposed to show here.
I've uploaded all my files again and again, because I thought this was because of some wrong upload. Minutes ago, I've tryed on Firefox and it opened at first attempt.
What can this be? Please help...

It's a "bug" in one of the parts (Safari, QuickTime plug-in) that now gives you the QuickTime icon and the question mark. I don't know the reason but here is a simple temporary "fix".
Use the Finder to duplicate your blah.m4a file (keep the original).
Use the Finder to rename the file extension from .m4a to .m4v (keep the file name however).
Use iWeb to edit the original page by dropping in this new file and "Publish" the page again.
The .m4a format is MPEG-4 Audio and your "enhanced" Podcast actually includes a "video" track (maybe just a still image and chapter tracks) that really should use the .m4v file extension.

Doesn't open with homepage, but rather with last site visited

When I view a site and close it and then reopen Firefox, the last visited site will open instead of my homepage.
Also, I noticed that this only happens when I have another smaller window open.
For example, if I have a msnbc streaming video window playing, (just the video, not the msnbc homepage) but I'm viewing another homepage; That other homepage will open again.
Does this have to do with the small video window that's open? Do I have to close ALL windows to keep this from happening?

Firefox doesn't open main page but one of the site sections instead

I'm trying to read a news website gazeta.ru, but Firefox opens a sports section gazeta.ru/sport. IE Tab or other browsers work fine, so it must be a problem with Firefox/addon settings.

Opening in the side bar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.<br />

IPod 4g: the accumulator does not load, camera doesn' t open, reset done but still defect, what can I do?

I can't load the accumulator, the camera does not open the lens. The cable is not defekt. iPod does not recognise when electric- cable is pluged.
