I was wondering is it possible to have a page with a single photo which after a time delay, dissolves/cycles to the next?

This might be what you're looking for: Custom iPhoto Album. However, if you click on a photo it will take you to the standard photo page. You could disable it by putting a transparent object over it in iWeb.
Or you can create a flash slideshow like the PhotoPlayer slideshow in this Jalbum demo page. *You can hide the thumbnail tray*. This theme lets you add music to the slideshow and autostart and loop everything.
Jalbum has 100s of themes you can choose from.
A 3rd alternative would be to make a slideshow in iPhoto at x seconds per slide, export as a QT movie file for the web and add that to the page while setting autoplay and looping in the Inspector/Quicktime pane. Large QT files will make the page load slower and can cause problems with Internet Explorer.

XML/AS3 Lightbox style gallery - need starting point....

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http://www.layeredpixels.com/tf/unibox/#works which is using http://razorjack.net/quicksand/ for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect
I just dont have much time and need to focus on other projects in the meantime so to find a good base with no fancy effects (yet) would really help. I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.

The best way to get going is to choose a solution path and get started on it. Then, to get help, come with specific coding problems to solve and not a shopping list of wants.

Slideshows on Gallery and iWeb

Can I send a slideshow to either or both my .Mac Gallery or iweb site so others can view it?

Yes and no. You can send your slideshow to iWeb to be included into an iWeb page. But for a web gallery you have to start with an album of photos (they can be the same album that you used to start your slideshow) and then create a web gallery from it. In essence you can have the same pictures in both items but they will slightly different. The web gallery will not have any of the fancy stuff you can put in a slideshow. Also the slideshow will be larger and take longer to load for anyone viewing that iWeb site.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Custom Slideshow (photo gallery/shop) help please!

Hi! I am miffing my way around my 1st Muse site and desperate for help with customising a slideshow to perform as a photography gallery and shop.
I would like to make it possible for my customers to preview matte (black/white) and frame (black/white/wood) options and be able to purchase all on the same page. It's important for my workflow that I can integrate this programming into the site, rather than having to upload multiples of the same image with the different variables. Possible problems may be that my images would be different ratios (square / panoramic etc). Hope this makes sense?
Any help would be much appreciates, although I feel I'm at a point way beyond my skill level and may have to outsource.

Slideshow Gallery in Dreamweaver cs3

Hi, at the moment i am new to dreamweaver. I have the
dreamweaver and flash cs3 package. I am trying implement an image
to my home page which will in turn change every 5-10 seconds. I
dont want any controls to show up like the ones that come with the
dreamweaver slideshow. Just a simple image that fades into another
image every so often(where i can embed url links possibly also).
any help would really be appreciated. I would like to avoid coding
if possible ? thanks

unfortunately, you're probably gonna have a hard time finding
a slideshow or gallery that doesn't involve at least a little bit
of coding. and the fact of the matter is, if you're serious about
web design (or at least having a decent site) you're going to have
to familiarize yourself with html code. you don't have to know how
to write an entire page with just code, but at least knowing how to
edit it is a must.
having said that, check out

for slideshows and galleries. they do involve pasting code into the
code of the page (at least the one i've used do), but they give you
instructions on how and where to put it.

Gallery style photo view in iweb

Ok. I want to have a the look for my web page as in the following link. small photos lined up in colum and rows, with one BIG photo next to it. As you click on the smaller pics, it shows on the larger one. I do not want to export mobil me, tried that, and it does not work.... Thanks for your help.

Bridge cs5 photo gallery - journal + Slideshow problems, incorporating a gallery into my site?

When i'm trying to make a journal+slideshow photo gallery, i get all this unnecesary information from my metadata. ( Date last modified : ...., software: ....., X resolution, Y Resolution, image size, resolution unit..) Is there a way to make that go away so i can see just my description and author, what i want to see?
And can i incorporate a gallery made with bridge/other flash gallery into an already existing HTML page, so that you have my template's design with that in the middle(the contents/editable part for me)? Or does it need to be a whole new html page, i'm using dreamweaver.
Picture of uneccesary info, can it go away?

I found out putting it in dreamweaver is pretty easy, just use iframe and make the width/height however you want it and it works fine for me. ( From the adobe web gallery in bridge>use the whole folder's index.html(can change name) as source for iframe, and you have the gallery, you need to move the whole folder to the site root though if you want it there, not just the .html )

Linking to a specific image in a gallery

Hi All,
I'm putting together a book where I have image references within the text of the chapters. Ideally, I'd like to be able to click on the image reference (text) such that an image appears as a gallery overlay, which would then allow me to view the image, zoom it, close it and come back to the text from where I clicked on the image reference.
I've been having some trouble doing this and am beginning to wonder if it is even possible in iBooks author. The only options I see are:
1. I insert the image inline; which is not an ideal solution for me in this case as there are a lot of images referred to from a single page and inserting them would crowd the page or make it too long
2. I insert an image gallery on every page, or at the end of a section or chapter; however when doing this two issues appear. a) I am unable to link from text to a specific image in a gallery (I can only link to the gallery but always the first image opens), and b) when exiting the gallery I am not taken back to the referring page from which I clicked to go to the gallery
3. Insert the images on separate pages in a chapter of their own; again the same issue crops up here - I am unable to go back to the referring page once done viewing the image.
I am pretty sure I'm missing something, as this must be a fairly basic requirement for book publishers. I am wondering if there is a lightbox style gallery widget or other functionality in ibooks author that I can use; or perhaps some settings that I am not aware of.
To recap, I'm looking to link text within a page to an image that would ideally open up on the same page; and once I'm done viewing the image for me to get back to the text I was previously viewing.

You can't link to an image without bracketing that image with (hidden) text.
You can link to an individual image in a galllery.
Linking to an image that blows up on the same page is not a feature of iBA.
Automactically returning to a hyperkinked bookmarked from the target is not a feature of iBA.
If these are features you demand now, build an app.
If these are feature you'd like to maybe see in the future, use iBA's feedback menu and make your requests heard. Good luck.

How to add a slider to a photo gallery?

I have dozens of photos in a gallery. Scrolling lets you move along the line of photos but you cannot now use scrolling to independently move around the page. Can I add a slider to the gallery thumbnails to move through them quickly while retaining the scrolling feature for use on the entire page. As it stands now a person viewing my page on a laptop cannot see all of the info and cannot move around the page. Help!

To be specific about what I am trying to do is as follows:
I have a Muse slideshow (photo gallery( with the large picture window
and a LONG row of thumbnails that will go off the page (either
vertically or horizontally).
Right now I have the large picture window (and text around it)
locked/pinned in position while a long vertical column of thumbnails
scroll so you can select what picture you want to click to see in the
large window.
For someone viewing on a laptop, for instance, part of the large window
and locked text around are off screen and as the large screen and
related text are locked the person viewing cannot scroll around to bring
them into view.
I think what I need is to unlock the large screen (and related text) but
have some separate way to move the long row/column of thumbnails so
folks can click/select the picture they want to view on the large screen

Slideshow works great in "live view" but does not in "preview browser"

My slideshow looks just fine in "live view" but when I "preview in browser" it doesn't show up at all in Firefox and is a blue square with a question mark in Safari. This was created in Dreamweaver and the slideshow is "Advanced Random Images" from Dreamweaver Exchange.
It was working in the browsers, but I had to make some changes. I put the slideshow within the "content" to get it to be centered on the page.
The centering worked great, but now it's not showing up.

How to create and place a slideshow into an exiting webpage

I am using DW CC and want to create a slideshow and place it into an existing webpage displaying product images. My initial thought was to use Lightroom to create the HTML or Flash file and place it as an iFrame but I think that may be a clunky and outdated way to do it. Even though I've been using DW for a while, I consider myself an amateur and I'm learning as I go.

No. Flash is a dead web technology because most mobile devices don't support it (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, etc...). And iframes are problematic. So that's double-trouble.
A simple jQuery slideshow is probably all you need. This one uses Cycle2 plugin. Copy & paste code into a new, blank document. SaveAs test.html and preview in browsers. Replace images with your own.
