Slideshow timing to music

I have a 378 pic slideshow with 4 iTunes set in a custom playlist with random transitions and asked to time to the music.
At the 378th slide the last tune is not done, and continues on for a couple of minutes.
I've done this before with other pics and tunes with no problem.
3 of the tunes were imported from a CD, and one downloaded from my Windows machine and imported over my iHome link.
They all look OK in iTunes and show up with the right durations in the iPhoto playlist.
I can switch over to uniform slide duration and get close by trial and error but why isn't iphoto doing it?
Thanks

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.

I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be

  • How do you run a slideshow with no music in new Photos app

In the new Photos app I can find no way of running a slideshow without music - either the standard themes or selecting my own music.  How can I run a slideshow with no music at all?  No setting, tab or option seems to be available to achieve this.

Hit top right arrow for slide show; click on Music, click button next to search; choose Theme songs, click on blue check mark to remove it, then hit PLAY SLIDESHOW.

  • Best way to duplicate slideshow dvd with music

I have a DVD slideshow put to music made as a tribute.  What is the easiest way to make duplicate copies of this?  The audio is in one directory and the pictures in another directory.  Running MacBook Pro with 10.5.8 OS

Use the export button in the slideshow to create a video file of your slideshow. Copy it to an USB stick, and transfe it this way to the computers of your friends.

  • In Slideshow, auto timing to music length

When selecting a music track to run against a slideshow, auto-adjust the length in seconds the image is displayed based on the length of the music selection. Make this optional. So as an example, you have 20 images in a slideshow, with a track that lasts 2 minutes. In this case you would auto adjust the display to be 6 seconds per image.

I agree that it's quite bad to have a feature so blatantly not working as it's supposed to... Since I have no idea how to succesfully work around this issue in LR4 I tried other options for the slideshow feature...
FotoMagico seem solid and has additional features as individual slide duration and individual transition times... It has some quirks too... The audio fades with the slide transition at times... The biggest draw back (and maybe I haven't found good settings yet) is that the rendered 720p HD slideshow didn't look half as good as the one rendered in LR4 at pretty much the same file size...
Then I tried Aperture... Which has pretty neat slideshow functions as well... Lets you adjust the audio placement freely... But the filesize exported with the standard 720p setting was about 4 times bigger... Now doing tests what custom settings will yield acceptable quality files with acceptable filesizes.

  • Timing of music and slideshow

Most songs have dead space for a few seconds at the end of the song. I have used iTunes Info to set the ending point for a song that was used in iPhoto slideshow. But it does not seem to detect that end point.
Is there anyway to have a song end properly with the last photo?

    Barry:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The iTunes "edit" is only recognized by iTunes. You can use Garageband as jdickey suggested (it's free) or a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus II. With it you can combine two or more tracks, doing a overlap fade in/out type of transition, etc. and then save as a single new file. Then import that file and use it. Just remember to always save as a new file as you don't want to mess up any of the original tracks.
I tried GB but found it to complicated for this old amphibian and was using Amadeus before I got GB to try. If you're familar with GB then it will do the job. Good luck.

  • IPhoto '09 Slideshow timing off

I'm using iPhoto '09 with all the latest patches. I have 10.6.1 OS X.
I have a slideshow of 99 pictures in iPhoto using the Snapshots theme. I have set the duration for all slides to 7.1 seconds, which should yield a slideshow duration of 11 minutes and 43 seconds, give or take a second or two. However, when I export the slideshow out to a quicktime DV format, it is only 10:57... almost a minute shy of what it should be.
This is a problem because I have the last picture in the set timed out with the fading out of the music, if iPhoto would just follow my math / timing I told it to.
So I go back and set the timing for 7.2 seconds on every slide... exact same result... total run time of 10:57. I do it again and adjust the slide duration to 7.5 seconds... exact same result... 10:57. So I quit iPhoto and go back in and rebuild the slideshow again, and this time set it to 8 seconds a slide... export to quicktime DV... exact same result... 10:57, ending a minute too early and cutting of the last minute of my song.
The kicker is this... The slideshow was 100 (vs. 99 as it is now) and when I exported it to quicktime DV it came out to 12 minutes and 4 seconds long. The only thing I did was delete one photo and re-export it and it cut the slideshow down over a minute. ***???? Shouldn't it just make the slideshow 7 or so seconds shorter when I delete one photo????
I'm so ****** about this crazy crap... makes me feel like I'm using a PC instead of a Mac when this arbitrary and illogical crap happens for no good reason.
And before you say "just use the fit slideshow to music", let me tell you, it always errors out. I have three songs that I fused together into one .wav file using iMovie HD. It is 12:05 long. When I add it as the only song it iPhoto's custom playlist on the slideshow, and then enable the fit slideshow to music option, it tells me that the music I selected is too short for so many photos, and that I need at least 12:03 worth of music... even though I have 12:05 worth of music selected! How is that too short for 99 or 100 photos? That's like 7 seconds a photo, which is fairly long for each to display.
    This is microsoft dumb.

If you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6 I suggest you use that to add the music to the slideshow. Create the slideshow without music, import it into iMovie HD 6, and add your audio tracks where you can trim, fade in/out, and have precise placement.

  • Slideshow "Fit to Music" in Lightroom 5

Hi, I was working on the slideshow module of Lightroom 5, added music and applied "fit to music". It worked fine during the preview. I then added more photos and changed the music, but when I applied "fit to music" after making all these changes, there was no adjustment with the timing of the new set of photos. On playback, the length of the slideshow is now longer than the (new) music I selected, making the music loop. Is there a step that I may have missed? I figured choosing a different music file and then clicking on "fit to music" would automatically change the timing (which in my case is not working). Thanks, hope to get some help on this soon. =) -ian umali

I'm not aware of a minimum amount of photos to play with music, I've tried it with 2. But I suspect something is wrong with the music you have selected, the "!" is shown if LR cannot read the mp3 file and cannot determine its length. I've seen this with some mp3's, but I cannot determine why. Have you tried a different mp3?

  • Strange issue with slideshow timing...

Using the Scrapbook theme with about 40 photos... added music, and selected "10 sec" as min timing for each of the photos thru the Settings=>All Photos tab. Would expect the slideshow to run for about 400 sec, however, the preview shows the photos changing every ~4 sec, and the exported h264/720p QT file also runs only for a grand total of <2 min!
Tried trashing the .plist file, but that doesn't appear to work... Is this a known bug, and are there any workarounds?
Tried to import the .MOV into iMHD to see if I could use the slo-mo effect to increase the slide-show run-time, but that also slows down the transitions, which doesn't look as good... Any other ideas?

  • Exporting Slideshows/syncing with music tracks

    Hi all -
I'm having a problem where I've created a slideshow in Iphoto6 that's timed to a music track..it plays fine and is correctly timed when I play it as a slideshow in Iphoto, but once I export it as a Quicktime file, the timing is off by a few seconds. This creates a problem as the music hasn't ended yet, but the pics have. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to correct it?
I added a couple of more pics to the slideshow and changed the individual settings for a few slides to allow them to play longer and that worked, but it's frustating to create something that works perfectly and then have it off sync after the export.
    Thanks for any help!
    - Kamen

I have had this problem, too. It seems to shorten the duration of the slideshow so that the timing with the music is then off.
It seems to work fine when I don't use the "Ken Burns" effect, though. Has that been your experience?
I'll be interested to see if anyone else has a solution!

  • My new Ipad2 doesn't display any pictures during slideshow, although the music plays fine.

I recently received an ipad 2 as a birthday gift from my wife, just before we hopped across the Atlantic to Europe (we wanted to make sure it worked well).  Now that we're here and I am fiddling with it more, I have found that when I play the slideshow feature either from the photos app or using the little flower icon on the lock screen, I cannot actually see any pictures.  The selected music plays during the slideshow, but there are no images displayed.
How can I correct this problem?  I'm a little concerned about our location, because if I have to return it for warranty, I'm going to be challenged due to my location.  I'll be here for months, so I can't just wait until I go back...

Verified - all photos is checked.  I tried a few other iterations without any positive results.  In all cases, the screen fades to black and displays nothing.
Upon tapping the screen, I can see that it has progressed through several photos during the time the screen is dark.  This is interesting...indicating that the program is running, but without a proper display.
This is an important feature for me.
