Slideshow to DVD for better quality

PSE4 slideshow quality on a VCD is horrible. I am using good quality images from a Nikon D70 and windows XP. Copying the slideshow to a WMV and then burning it to a DVD is still poor quality. I don't want to use PDF. Is there any way to copy direct to a DVD without premiere elements? Are there any other ways to increase the quality of the slideshow? Thanks for any help offered.

  • Should I Use An External Burner For Better Quality With Macbook Pro?

Hey I have a macbook pro and used IDVD to burn a movie but near the end it freezes and kinda skips a bit and I was wondering cause it takes two to three hours to burn will using an external burner be better quality?

will using an external burner be better quality?
Ext. Burners tolerate burning multiple copies with fewer read / write errors better than the stock internal S-Drive that come built into many mac laptops. Stock drives heat up faster than external burners do for the most part. So the answer is, it's very possible you will get slightly better results with an external burner as opposed to an internal laptop S-Drive when burning back to back copies.
I recommend using Verbatim Dvd-r media and burning from a disc image at 4x or slower for best results.

  • Ipad Mini to DVD for better audio?

For iPad Mini, I want to output signal to DVD HDMI port for better 5.1 sound.  Is that possible? Is splitter required?  Presently I am using the Lightning Digital AV Adapter to connect Ipad mini directly to TV, but that limits audio to TV's speakers.  Would prefer to use home theater if I can.

  • Putting slideshow on DVD for use in DVD player

I have a slideshow that I need to burn onto a DVD for use in a regular DVD home player, not in a computer. Can I do this with iPhoto? If yes, how, and if no, then can I use iMovie instead?
    This is urgent!

Urgent? Then in iPhoto Share -> Send to iDVD. You need to create the actual DVD in that app not iPhoto or iMovie.

  • IPhoto slideshow to DVD for TV and PC viewing

I am creating a slideshow that needs to be able to be played on a DVD with unknow TV and a PC with a projector. Will not know exactly which one. The slideshow is simple (200 images estimated), would like to have Ken Burns effect if possible.
I also have Keynote available if it would be a better appliciaont. What is the best workflow to produce a reliable, high quality product? Thanks in advance.

The tip refers to the file "Library6.iPhoto" that is in the iPhoto Library folder. That's the file that often gets damaged or corrupted and makes iPhoto think there are no photos in the library or that the files are missing but the thumbnails are there. I just select it and type Command-D to make a copy of it which ends up as "Library6 copy 1.iPhoto". When I need to backup again I delete that file and make another copy of it.
For protection of HD problems and really losing your files I suggest an external Firewire HD. An 80G drive is not that expensive and can hold your iPhoto Library folder and, in general, your entire User folder. That folder contains all of your important, non-replaceable files. The system and applications can be replace
That being said DVDs can be used with iPhoto's Share->Burn Disk menu option to burn multiple rolls to disk in the iPhoto format. This will allow you to mount that disk in iPhoto like this to copy back those rolls into a new library is that were necessary. As you get a number of new rolls you can burn another disk. Or use a CD and burn fewer rolls as they are added. That preserves the keywords, albums they were in, comments, etc. You can also burn slideshows.
The external HD is the easiest and quickest way. By backing up the entire iPhoto Library folder (i.e. copying it to the external HD and then keeping it current with a backup program like Synk, you can avoid most any catastrophic crash on your HD. I don't have my external drive running all the time. I only turn it on and mount it when I have some backups to perform.

  • Mpeg 2 to dv for better quality on idvd

I recently made a film with two cameras one a samsung dv and the other is sony hdd sr42. The movies look great in quick time, on the web, and idvd preview. The sony hdd stuff looks better than the dv, but when I burn the dvd though my dv material is great but my sony hdd stuff looks bad. The video seems to distort whenever there is movement on camera like it can't keep up. I've looked through other posts and have not came up with an answer. My own theory is if I can convert my hdd mpeg2 files to dv it would work. So my questions.
    1. I don't know how to convert mpeg2 to dv?
    2. Would this help with the poor quality I'm seeing on the dvd parts where my sony cam is in use?

    1. Mpeg2 (the standard DVD format) is a delivery format not intended for editing.
You need to convert the VOB files back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, as well as the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
    2. I would put money on it!

  • Changing the colour space on a jpeg image for better quality when uploading to a website

When uploading my images to my website the quality and colour of the photographs aren't the same. They lose quality etc. I was told to change the colour space to sRGB or something to make it better. No idea how this works and I'm now not sure what settings to have photoshop on, I don't want to edit my images and then for them to be edited wrongly.
Really need some help, much appreciated.

File > Save for Web.  Use the 4-up panel to choose the best quality image with the smallest file size to save on bandwidth.  You can test with sRGB enabled.  Click on screenshot.

  • How to burn a slideshow to DVD for anyone to play. I burned a DVD and can play it on my mac, but will not open in windows

  • Are external DVD burners better quality than an internal on a laptop?

I've always had this prejudice that stock Powerbook G4 internal DVD drives are poor quality and prone to breaking down. I lost mine after less than a year of service and it seems to me that folks are regularly complaining about stock internal burners going out.
I've had no working DVD drive for a couple of years on my old G4 and I'm getting a new one this week. I also have a Sony external dual layer DVD burner that is a real workhorse for me. It's what I've been using for all these years.
Now I'm wondering, when I have the new DVD burner installed next week, do I need to baby it and use the external whenever possible? Should I only use it whenever absolutely necessary and let the external do all the heavy lifting? Is this new internal drive going to fritz out on me after six months just like the last one did?
I've burned hundreds, maybe close to a thousand, DVDs on my external Sony and the machine is still good as gold. No sign of wear.
Is there any evidence to support this idea that internal laptop drives are delicate pieces of equipment waiting to break down and that external Sonys are solid and rugged? Or is that just my personal experience and is everyone else happy with their internal drives?
By the way, my new internal drive being shipped to me this week is an OWC (Other World Computing) drive made just for the older 400 mHz Powerbook G4 Titaniums. There's not a lot of choice in the market for a drive for such an old machine.

Software is the key to quality. Period, along with the quality of the original content, if it is good quality then you will get good quality, if it's poor quailty then you will get poor quality.
    Use the best.

  • How to get slideshow on dvd for tv

I have a slideshow in iPhoto, also have it as a project in iMovie, and cannot get it onto DVD to view on tv from either place.  Cannot find iDVD on the system, although I can select from iMovie to have share it with iDVD.  It processes it, which takes about 3 minutes, but never opens into iDVD so I can burn it.  I've tried it from finder, and it burns it but won't work on tv dvd player.  Anyone know how to do this?

    Hi
If this is a New Mac - then there is no iDVD on it - even as iMovie think so.
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • How can I convert my 16bit music library to 24bit for better quality?

I just bought a new stereo system in my room and 16bit music sounds very thin and tingy, so i have been playing vinyl.. 24bit music seems to be a great option, but i don't know how to convert my music to 24bit.. :/
ps: I don't care about HD space.. i use 1TB HD for my music and I don't have a lot of bands in my itunes library. Thanks

There won't be any point in convering existing 16-bit music to 24-bit. You won't gain any quality by doing so since the data isn't there in a 16-bit file. You'll have to reimport from vinyl, if that's what you've been doing, as 24-bit, or look for download stores that sell in such an audiophile format.
Question: do you have 24-bit files now that you can compare directly to 16-bit files? Or are you just presuming that the sample depth is the problem? Do actual CDs (the disks, non-imported) sound OK?

  • IPhoto slideshow on DVD is a mess!

I am trying to create a slideshow on DVD for a client. His business is a small newspaper. For an upcoming tradeshow, he wants to have a large display with a slideshow of each page of the paper scrolling across the screen, flipping to the next page, etc. I figured iPhoto would be an excellent tool to do it without much labor, using the Ken Burns effect to pan the full length of each page. It works perfectly on my Mac display and looks great.
Even the exported video looks OK when I preview it in iDVD.
However, once it goes to DVD, the visual quality is worthless. I expected serious degradation of text quality since it is only 720 pixels wide. The text isn't as sharp, but it is readable.
The big problem is that as it scrolls, it looks like the the images pass behind a grid of prisms that refract everything. The disruptive lines are about 1/4 inch apart, so the whole TV screen is a mess, it's impossible to watch. At first I thought it may be an issue with the scan rate of the TV, but the same thing happens when I play the DVD back on my notebook PC and my Mac.
I set the iDVD preview window and the DVD Player window side by side and played them together. The iDVD preview was fine, the DVD player window gives me a headache.
What can be causing this, and is there any way to change a setting in iPhoto or iDVD to prevent it?

What resolution are you using for the slides? I have done several DVDs with slide shows as an option (training DVDs) and it's always worked well. I am using PNG and JPEG files with at least 150dpi resolution. I've even used Contrictor to snap screen shots of some PDF files with good results. I am using a 17" screen so again, I'm getting as much resolution as I can before I stick them into the DVD slide show.

  • Best Bit Rate for Better sound

I’m new to the iTunes/iPod thing. A friend told me that he re-sets the bit rate from the default of 128 kpbs to the top of 320 kbps for better quality. [He plays everything off of his computer which is wired to speakers throughout his house and does not travel or drive much so hardly uses his iPod.] I played around a tad with the various rates on the same album and found that a fairly short one used 34.9 MB at 128 kbps, 52.1 MB at 192 kbps, 60.8 MB at 224 kbps and 86.6 MB at 340 kbps. Another friend told me that he noticed a big difference when he played a song off his iPod through his several thousand dollar system if it was imported at 128 kbps. While hard disc space is cheap and I would simply opt for the higher quality setting, the iPods are not so big when one almost triples the file size.
I tried to figure out what the max bit rates in the CDs are so that could guide the max import rate, but I could not and that question may make no sense at all anyway.
What is the max that a human can notice the difference at and what have folks found to be the best balance between sound quality and storage space?
    Thanks for your help.
    PC   Windows XP

Monty, this is really going to be up to your ears to decide. All I can tell you is my experience during the 2+ years of owning an iPod. I initially thought AAC @ 128 was satisfactory. I then started experimenting with various bitrates, but kept the AAC format. I decided that 192 was a discernible improvement over the 128. Not to go into a lot of detail, but I, quite by accident, had one album download at 256 & thought, "Wow, this is unbelievably better sound, even over inexpensive computer speakers." At that point, I started importing everything in AAC @ 256 VBR which I feel is pretty darn close to CD quality sound. I have a 60GB iPod that I'm willing to sacrifice some capacity in order to ensure the best audio quality I can. This is also why I do not buy frequently from the iTunes store as I do not feel the 128 downloads are the best quality. I buy & my own CD's, now, to insure good quality. I will by the occasional song from the store when I do not care to buy the whole CD. Hope this helps!

  • I'm trying to burn a Iphoto slideshow to DVD but the "burn" in the menu isn't active?

I'm trying to burn a slideshow to a DVD but it isn't hightlighted in the menu?  Any ideas.  Also, is there a way to put captions under a photo that show up in the slide show?
    Thanks,
    Michael Quinn

To burn a Slideshow you DVD for viewing on a domestic DVD player you need to use an app that with author the disk to the correct format.
Macs used come with iDVD for this purpose - accessed by going Share -> iDVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have this then you need to get such an app, then export the slideshow from iPhoto. This will make a movie of it, then add it to your DVD project.

  • Better Quality Downloads!

    Hi all,
I have been round the iTunes site over & over but I can't find anywhere to request an option for higher quality d/l say 256 kbps.
The current standard is ok for low end earphones or average speakers, but no way could it be described as HiFi.
It is useless for proper HiFi or indeed even for better earphones.
Does anyone have a suitable link?
I think that maybe there should be options for both 128 kbps & perhaps 256 for those that want to use gear that can make the difference audiable.
    Seasons greetings
    Mike
    Sony   Windows XP

Mike, there is no option for better quality downloads. The store sells downloads in protected AAC @ 128, that is ALL they sell. Remember the store is at the mercy of the record companies to provide the files & most record companies do not care to provide CD quality downloads at the present time.
