Slideshow trouble

I'm having trouble with my 1st slideshow. I have 95 pics, when I drag and drop a thumbnail to sort the order, Encore seems to loose track of where they are. The thumbnail might be right but when you look at the properties, it will be the the wrong info. I did render again but nothing was better. Then I tried to delete the thumbnails from the slideshow and bring them back in from the assets panel. This just made it worse. After Encore (CS3)crashed several times, I finally got it to build and burned a DVD, but when it plays back there are several problems with transitions where I had the edit problems before. I'm running Vista on a HP Quad 4 with plenty of memory and speed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes I can. Menu highlights don't work properly on all DVD players unless you use the "(=3) Highlight" which is not even the default that Adobe uses. So all of Adobe's pre-packaged menus and buttons don't work right.
Projects can easily become corrupted requiring you to rebuild them from scratch. This has happened to me 3 times and I don't even use the program that much. I live in fear of this all the time.
The first disc I burn is always a coaster and does not duplicate. The second disc I burn is fine.
Manual slideshow navigation doesn't work right. When try to go back from the first slide instead of disallowing it, it takes you to an entirely different slideshow.
Projects created with an earlier version of Encore can not be opened in CS3. Projects created on the PC can not be opened in Encore CS3
And I haven't even attempted Flash publishing. Lord knows what minefields await there.
Would you like me to go on?
And Encore is far from free. It comes as part of a package, but that package would be cheaper without Encore. And I doubt Adobe would sell many copies of Premiere if they required you to buy DVD Studio Pro from Apple.

  • IDVD Slideshow Troubles

I created a slideshow of 232 iphoto pics, put to music from itunes. I had to break it up into three pieces ( I would appreciate a workaround if anyone knows how to make a dvd slideshow more thn 99 pics). Trouble is I have a hard time selecting the menus on a regular dvd player. It works some times, other times not. Also, on my decent Panasonic Elite dvd player, the slideshow stops at every chapter. Any thoughts?

Be careful with that idea in iDVD:

I've read that high-end players have troubles with recordable DVDs.

  • Slideshow troubles using PE6

I seem to have terrible experience with slide shows using Elements (4 and 6). I have two questions:
    1. I shoot a lot in RAW format - is it necessary to convert to a different file format before loading images into the slideshow creator? I works with RAW format, but the program crashes a lot, (brand new laptop with 3gb and VISTA).
    2. Is 130 images deemed a large slide show for Elements? Should I cut back on size?
Also, if I need to convert slides to another file format other than RAW, can someone give me a relatively painless way to do that?
    Thanks a bunch.

My understanding of RAW format is that it is intended to be processed, so personally I would never expect the PSE slide show editor to use RAW format photos.
Since I am not using RAW format, I can't answer the question about how to easliy convert. If no one else answers in this thread you might post that question separately in a new thread.
130 is not impossibly large. However if they were 130 RAW format I would guess that you could have capacity problems.
I am not running Vista so I can't give you specific tips for cleaning up the equivalent in Vista of XP Temp files. However you might need to do that as well as general disk cleanup and defragmenting of your hard drive even for a relatively new laptop. Because you have had previous failures, it is very possible that you have many files still occupying space on your hard drive.

  • Slideshow trouble with Iweb photo links

When I click on the start slideshow link I get an "I'm sorry" page-not sure what the problem is.
www.cvmri.com under the acute and chronic MI heading.

I have just loaded it, the first time it didn't do anything, maybe I was a little impatient, the second time I clicked it the slideshow loaded.
Try clearing your cache in Safari, go to Safari > Empty Cache.. then reload the page and try again.
You could also put a ? at the end of the url in the address bar and then refresh the page.
Sometimes you need to do both!

  • Slideshow Troubles...how do you stop iMovie from zooming in and out?

My son is trying to make a movie from still photographs...a Lego-type movie. He is frustrated because iMovie keeps zooming in and out and up and down. Is there a way to import those photos without iMovie doing that?

Your son is using the "Ken Burns Effect" - actually, iMovie probably has the Ken Burns Effect set as the default for when new pictures are added. You can change this two ways: 1) Change it in Project Properties. 2) Change it picture-by-picture by using the Rotate/Crop/Ken Burns Tool.
In either case, FIT makes the photo fit into the current aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9) by letterboxing (black bars) if necessary. CROP makes the photo fit into the current aspect ratio by cutting off part of the photo if necessary. Ken Burns produces a motion effect that you can control by setting the starting and ending rectangles.

I am novice designer. I copied code for Cycle2 into my head (declaration or initializer?) and body (image source) of HTML document. The slider cycles through pictures in Explorer, but not in Safari or Crome. Any help, suggestions, alternatives would be appreciated. Thank you.

Cycle2 is a responsive slideshow.  If you want all images to remain 400px and not responsive to layout,  you'll need to modify the CSS code a little.

  • Still having trouble with Gallery Slideshow

Still having trouble with Gallery Slideshow, in Live Preview it bounces to  the top of the page but not centered where I like it.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

no is not hosted anywhere Im working on a Fantasy Photography site. from the image the top one is design mode and bottom is preivew mode. But my problem is
as you can see from the images ( red boxes )  it moves when is in preview mode and the sizes of the images change as well as you can see. I dont know why? I tried figuring it out
but no luck. I hope this helps.
    thanks

  • Trouble with slideshow.

First of all thanks to all of you who read this forum and
take time to help those of us that are having trouble.
I built a slide show with the command menu. I got the three
files, the "index.html","player_blsc.swf", and the "scripts"
folder. I saved all of these into a sub folder for the page I am
    building.
I then imported this slideshow into dreamweaver with the
import command. That all went fine.
When I preview the page in my browser, I get the slideshow,
but no images. I get the same thing if I "play" the filein
    dreamweaver.
I am out of idea and seariously need som help! Here is my
    file structure in dreamweaver.
    sitename (root)
    |
    - page 1
    |
    - image albums (contains the pictures for this page)
    - page images (contains sliced images form fireworks to
    build the page)
    - slideshow files (contains all of the files for the
slideshow I am trying to build)
    - pagename.html (actual html page)
    |
    - page2
    |

I fixed it! I am a newbie here so you will have to forgive my
    inexperience.
For those of you that might run into this same problem here
    is the answer.
All of the files for your slide show need to be in the same
folder with the html file that is actually your page.
    Example;
Below is a file structure for a "website"
Lets say you want to put a slide slow on the "photos" page.
If you are using fireworks slide show creator, it will
generate 3 files and a number of folders.
The folders will be the folders that contain the images it
will display on the slide show.
It will also make a new folder called "scripts"
Okay, so lets say your slide show will have two "albums". In
one album there are pictures of boats and the other album there are
pictures of sunsets. So, in fireworks you will name the the albums
"boats" and "sunsets". Fire works will create the folders called
"boats" and "sunsets". Along with the other files.
So here are the files you will end up with,
    slideshow.xml (file)
    index.html (file)
show_black.swf (this is the flash file that you will install)
    boats (folder)
    sunsets (folder)
So, however many folders you end up with is determined by how
many albums you create. If you have 3 albums, you will have 4 new
folders (don't forget about the scripts folder)
Okay, hopefully you got all of that! And now we can move on.
Below is a web page file structure. Where you place these
files and folders is very important! You must place them on the
same "level" as you page, they can't be in a subfolder on that
    page. Here is an example,
Mywebpage (folder containing your site, or your root folder.)
    |
    home page (your index page)
    ......page images (folder)
    ......home.html
    |
    photos
    .....page images (folder)
    .....photos.html
    |
    contact
    ....page images (folder)
    ....contact.html
Lets say you want to put this slideshow on the page "photos".
But you want ot build a page and have the slideshow display as part
of your page and not just as a standalone with nothing else on it.
Here is how I did it the first time and it did not work. I will use
    the example from above.
Mywebpage (folder containing your site, or your root folder.)
    |
    home page (your index page)
    ......page images (folder)
    ......home.html
    |
    photos
    ....page images (folder)
    ....photos.html
    ....slide show files (folder)
    ...........show_black.swf
    ...........index.html
    ...........slideshow.xml
    ...........boats (folder)
    ...........sunsets (folder)
    contact
    ....page images (folder)
    ....contact.html
As you can see the slideshow files are located in a subfolder
called slideshow files. Thay are not in the same folder as the
photo.html files. This causes the slide show not to work because it
is looking in the wrong folder for the files.
Now, put the files like the example below to make your slide
    show work.
Mywebpage (folder containing your site, or your root folder.)
    |
    home page (your index page)
    ......page images (folder)
    ......home.html
    |
    photos
    ....page images (folder)
    ....photos.html
    ....show_black.swf
    ....index.html
    ....slideshow.xml
    ....boats (folder)
    ....sunsets (folder)
    contact
    ....page images (folder)
    ....contact.html
As you can see the slideshow files are no longer in the sub
folder. They are in the same folder as the pages html file. I know
it is not as oganized looking but this is the only way I found to
make the slideshow appear inside another page. Good luck with your
pages. If you need more help post here or email me and I will see
    if I can help.

  • Having trouble creating .WMV from slideshow in Organizer (11)

When creating .WMV from a slideshow in Organizer (11), the photographs aren't showing up.  They seem fine in the slideshow, but when I output to .WMV I get the audio but not the pics.  I have done this many times before and it has worked fine, not sure why it isn't working now.
I am trying to take these to Premier Elements to create a DVD with menus.  If I take the slideshow/project, rather than a .WMV, it tells me it doesn't like .jpg and I get some black frames.  In the past, if I created .WMVs, I got around this problem.  Suggestions?
    Thanks....

If you're running under Windows try this.
Find the Organizer executable file  (on a 64-bit system this would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe).
Right-click it and select 'Run As Administrator'.
I had a similar problem when I had both PSE11 & PSE12 installed - Slide show would only ever work in one of them, but an Adobe staff member posted the above suggestion and it worked for me (both versions now work properly).

  • Newbie having trouble creating a Slideshow with the Animation Panel.

I know it's a much more complicated/advanced way to create a slideshow. But, I know it can be done.
I will explain exactly what I do, the steps that I take. In my own newbie opinion, I think I'm just missing a step somewhere. Maybe I'm missing two or three steps. Hopefully somebody will be able to help me.
Thank you in advance, if you do help.
1.I open the program Adobe Bridge
    2. Then I select all images in a folder, then I utilize the review mode & deselect the photos I do not want to use.
    3. Then I open the selected images into Photoshop. (If you haven't already figured it out, I have Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended)
    4. I clicked on Windows menu >arrange >Tile. That way all of my images are right there & ready for utilization. (At this point, none of the images have been  clicked on yet.)
    5. Then I open the animation panel & create a white blank background for the first frame.
Here is where I run into the problem. I know how to add extra frames, that's easy enough.
I also know that when I add the extra frame, it makes a duplicate of the previous frame.
My problem is trying to get that extra frame to reflect the next image I would like to display in this little slideshow and so on and so forth for the next, maybe 20 images.
Then what I would like to do is randomize the transitions with things like dissolve, honeycomb, fade in & fade out. With other options if there are any.
I would like to create a fancy slideshow is all.
I have read all of the help manuals, all 600+ pages. This is how far I got. I even did a search in the Adobe community. Even those articles don't quite tell you how to do this. So, I probably could have done a lot more homework. But. I'm starting to get frustrated with it.
Hopefully someone here will be able to help me with this. Thank you Obi-Wan Kenobi in advance. :-)

Thank You Thank You Thank You JJ Mack!
That was exactly what I was looking for & it worked perfectly. :-)
I have one more question if you would be so kind to help me with.
I was wondering if there was a way to add transitions, i.e. dissolve, fading in & fading out, split, reveal, random bars, vortex stuff like that.
I was also wondering if there was a random option for this.
If I have to add them in manually, that's fine with me. It would be really nice to be able to add some different transitions between frames.
Once again, thank you in advance for your help.

  • Having trouble with Aperture images in a slideshow in iMovie

I've searched for answers to this but can't seem to find out what I'm doing wrong....
I'm trying to put together a slideshow in iMovie with my images from Aperture. They look horrible, color is way off and they're grainy. It was my understanding that iMovie uses the preview images from Aperture for making the movie so I have my settings in Aperture set to the best quality for previews. Is that right? Is there something else I should be doing?
    Thanks for any help.

No, thats the right way I do it with my images. I use iMovie 09 and the preview size of my iLife previews are set to 1680 pixel. I do mostly some slideshows in iMovie for displaying on the web and for iPhone, so the output from iMovie will be most times at 480 pixel wide. The colors are fine and images look best as in Aperture.
What I found sometimes is, some outwashed colors - unsaturated - after I export my movie from iMovie. This comes when I use other settings for exporting the movie than the presets for iPhone or Apple TV. The same behavoir did I recognize when exporting a movie from Final Cut Express or Keynote. This behavoir may be outdated in Snow Leopard, because Quicktime X should use Colormanagement the first time.

        var duration:Number=.5;
    for (var count:Number = 1; count <=10; count++) {

        bars.width=holder.width;
        bars.height=holder.height;
I create an instance of a Sprite,  load an external image using xml, add the image as a child of the Sprite instance "holder", add holder the the stage then run the tween.
this is what it looks like http://www.jimslounge.com/tweenTest/my_mask_bars.swf
The tween doesn't run till I re-size the stage and when it runs gives a different effect.
