Slideshow: what the???!! Wrong or uncorrected images in PDF

The slideshow modules is my nemesis. All other modules are great.
Before, I reported slidewhows terminating early and recycling. Now I am getting a situation where after adjusting a bunch of images and creating a collection, I export to a PDF and uncorrected images play.
Color correction, cropping - it's all gone in the PDF slideshow, although it still looks just fine within LR. Virtual copies do not play at all. In fact, even though I have version 8 of Adobe Reader, it does not play as a slideshow.
Can you think of anything that would cause LR to act this way?

OK, but I warn you, this is really stupid.
I created the PDF just as I described above. I saved it in the same folder as the images.
I use ACDSee for simple image viewing, and it renders images of jpegs in thumbnail view, but only icons of unflattened PSD files. When I opened the folder to playmy PDF I saw one file at the top which was not rendered as an image and just decided (I know, I know) that this was the pdf slide show.
Sure enough, the first image came right up full screen and looked OK, so I thought I was in the PDF slide show. However there were no transitions. I pressed the space bar and another image came up, but it looked flat and uncorrected. Then another, and this one was not even a pick for the colection.
I re-saved the PDF back in LR and then made exactly the same mistake again, looking at the original images instad of the PDF, which looked great, as expected, when I finally realized what I had done.

How can I find out what is wrong with swap image in a library

I had a DW8 site that used a library item on many pages with the calls to the macromedia swap image function. Everything was fine.
I've now converted to CS5.5 and I find that:
a) When the library item is changed, the updated pages don't have proper local relative paths. Instead they have the exact path in the library item itself.
b) I can't detatch the library item from a page, I get:
An error occured while loading behavior "Swap Image" Please check this file and associated JavaScript files for errors.
When OK'd this is followed by
Dreamweaver encountered an improper argument.
I went back to DW8, forced a library update and everything was fine. I've checked and so far as I can see, the swap image funtion is identical in the DW8 and CS5.5 versions.
I don't know if a and b are related,

The library file is not normally on the site and, if it was, it would be in
the library directory which could not normally be reached from the htdocs
folder. Going back to DW8 as a workaround has solved problem (a) - the path
error - but downloading these files into a CS5.5 environment should still
show problem (b), being unable to remove the attachment.
There is a second library item on the page, the bottom navigation, and this
can be detached without problem.
The folder structure on my PC is:

i dowload the thin driver from Oracle site.
1.ojdbc14.jar is in my claspath.
2.actually i do the following i have oracle 8.0 for winnt.
go to system manager and create user "administrator" after this give grants dba to that user.

If Oracle is set up properly he should be able to
connect using JDBC without having the client installed
or any TNS names set. The JDBC driver alone is
sufficient.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to follow this suggestion,
but it's not necessary for JDBC's sake.

Somehow i've a sneaky feeling that this 'database' that's being used to connect is just a marker/plain english instead of the actual name of the database :)

Can I change the bit depth on images in pdf files?

I have a lot of pdf files that were scanned in 24 bit colour. I'd like to convert some of them to greyscale or black and white, and reduce the resolution to make them smaller.
I can see how to reduce the resolution with Save As Other/Optimized PDF, but there are no options there to reduce bit depth. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks, I think I've worked out how to use them. I found a fixup called "Convert color to B/W", but it seems to convert to greyscale, not black and white.
I found this page describing how to convert to both greyscale and monochrome. It says the only way to do monochrome is to convert to tiff first:

The New PS CC Images / Size implementation

Anyone else a little disconcerted by the new setup of 'Image/size' menu?
Its lost one whole parameter that used to be there by default... Now you have to go find it by click on the drop down and selecting inches.... If I recall it used to show:
height Pixels
width pixels
Height inches
width inches
Overall there appears to be MORE information available and more functions one can exercise than the old format. I guess I'll grow to like it better than the old layout.... but first time out... I missed the old setup.
How do others feel abou it?

For reference, this is what the prior version's Image Size dialog showed:
As I mostly think and work in pixels, I haven't missed the old dialog at all.
My advice would be to change your default resampling method (via the Preference settings) from Automatic to Bicubic. Also, if you upsample with the new function, be sure and try the Detail Preserving upsampling scheme. It's the cat's meow.

grayscale image would have smaller image size. And in Photoshop Elements you can always convert grayscale images to RGB.
Thus I would advice to scan the photograph in grayscale.

Open your iPhoto Library, go to that particular album and verify that you can view the full sized version of each image by double clicking on them. Report back with the results.

Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine: e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?

Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window. Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

Restart your Mac before trying to download the file.
Do you have anti virus software installed or a program like LIttle Snitch?
If you are using Safari to download files, go to the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes then click Reset.
If you still can't download the Java file, go to ~ / Library / Caches / com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash and restart your Mac. Try downloading that file again.
If it still won't download without that dialog, go to ~/Library/Safari. Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Try again.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
