Slideshow with aperture 3

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to create a custom slideshow  template.
I want to produce slideshows for selling real estate so want to put on company logos, contact details etc and have the slides in a particular order.
Do I need to buy a plug-in or is there a way it can be done in Aperture - it is quite easy in Lightroom but I want to stay with Aperture.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Ron

Hello David,
Are you running OS 10.7.2 Lion? Perhaps you have trouble with a video codec? http://aperture.maccreate.com/2011/08/25/aperture-3-will-not-play-videos-if-lion -is-installed-and-3ivx-video-codec-is-installed/
Look in your System Library and User Library if the 3ivxVideoCodec.component
is installed.
Check in /Library/Quicktime  (System Library) and ~/Library/Quicktime (User Library)
If you are running OS Lion, then the Libraries are hidden by default.
The User Library can be revealed from the Finder menu by holding down the option (⌥)-key while selecting "GO"  till the Library appears in the drop down menu.
The System Library can be revealed  from the Finder menu by selecting "GO" -> "Go To Folder" and entering    /Library/Quicktime .
Look for 3ivxVideoCodec.component installed and remove it, if it is present.
Also look in both libraries for a duplicate Aperture media browser plug-ins, e.g.
/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/Plug-Ins/iLMBAperture31Plugin.ilmbplugin/
if you are running Lion and still have iLMBAperture31Plugin.ilmbplugin, remove it, if
LMBAperturePlugin.ilmbplugin is present.

  • Exporting Slideshows with Aperture

I am a professional wedding photographer just starting to use Aperture.
I currently deliver DVD slideshows to my clients instead of paper proofs. I use an action and an apple script in Photoshop to batch all the files from a wedding to have a black border around them and display the file name in the black border below the file. I must have the file name because, that is how my clients place there order. I then use DVD Studio Pro to group my slides into groups of 99 and create slideshows with DVD Studio Pro.
Is there a way to use Aperture to automate this process? I would like to select the images that I want, have Aperture size them for NTSC, display the file name so that it is readable and not cropped out of a standard TV screen, and then create slideshows in iDVD or DVD Studio Pro for me. I would also like to put a signature on the bottom right corner of each photograph.
I know this is asking a lot, but I REALLY need something like this to speed up my process and bring a new look to my work. Any suggestions?

    kevin:
aperture has automator actions for exporting images from albums (at any one of the export preset sizes). you could, with a little scripting expertise, convert the photoshop applescript that you have now into an autmator action. (i have several automator actions that i've built that feed images into photoshop.) then it would be a matter of building an automator workflow that sets everything up in the right sequence and pressing run.

  • Creating Professional Slideshows with Aperture 3

    Hello Guys,
I am looking to create some nice sleek slideshows. I want them to do the same effects as the ones featuring on apple's aperture action section (see ho the pros use aperture). I think they look amazing, and i would love to do something like it.
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/action/
Is aperture the only software needed for it, or i would need to combine with other software?
    please help.
    thanks so much in advance!

It does not allow for this. I think Apple assumed that we would have our customers sitting with us in the studio watching the slideshow the program generates. not very practical. After a shoot the is obviously some post production work with RAW images and then creation of the slideshows. i don't know about anybody else, but my customers are not wanting to sit around after a shoot waiting. It sure would be nice to burn a simple slideshow like the program generates to disc and mail it to them so they can review their pictures and have a keepsake. I guess *I am hoping they will fix this with the next release*. You can use iDVD (poor choice) iPhoto or imovie (a little better) or 3rd party software (MotionHD by Roxio) the best in my opinion. MotionHD is fast, easy, allows mult. images on screen and panning images is much better.

Does Aperture allow you to create a slideshow that can be burned to a CD or DVD and then viewed on someone else's Mac or PC. I'm trying to build a photo slideshow for family members. Thanks!

  • Export my slideshow from Aperture (with music) to a CD

I'm having problems with exporting my slideshow from Aperture. I'm also new to the mac and aperture, so this could be part of the learning curve!
I would like to export the slideshow (with music) to be played on a non-apple computer via a CD. I see the export options, but they all seem to be specific to other apple products or a TV.
is it even possible to copy the slideshow to a CD?
    Thanks!

I see the export options, but they all seem to be specific to other apple products or a TV.
These export options are just guidelines to pick a suitable resolution and codec. If you pick one of them it will render your slideshow and export a Quicktime movie; then you move this movie to a folder and burn this folder to a CD.
If you want a movie that can be viewed on a display of anoter computer I'd go for the option with the highest solution and pick the full HD option: HD 1080p. All other options will result in higher compressed videos with less resolution.

    each slide = 3 seconds

  • Slideshow in Aperture 2.1 with music

I've noticed that when playing music fron an iTunes playlist firstly music plays, after 2 or 3 minutes music starts to playback by jumps and finally iTunes does not play anymore.
I reboot the system and iTunes plays fine but inside an slideshow of Aperture, music begins to jump again.
    OS X Leopard 10.5.2- 2x3 GHz Quad-Core. 8 GB 667 DDR RAM.
    iTunes 7.6.2. Aperture 2.1
    ANY HELP?

Have you checked the Audio settings for the audio clips in the film strip? What does the settings show, when you ctrl-click the primary and secondary tracks to reveal the audio adjustments panel? Is the track volume high enough and the fade in and out not too long?
Do you get any sound at all from within Aperture? For example, when you select a song in the Media Browser to add to the slideshow? Or when you view a video clip in the Browser?
If all settings are o.k., but you still do not get any sound at all, are there any error messages in the Console window (launch the Console App from Applications > Utilities)?

  • Slideshow with Videos and Pictures

    Hi!
I am trying to make a slideshow with photos and various short videos interspersed among the photos. I have a customized playlist for the slideshow so that there is music playing when the photos are being shown. My problem is that the music continues to play when the videos are playing which interferes with the audio in the video. Is there anyway to get the music to pause whenever there is a video playing?
    Thanks!

Is there anyway to get the music to pause whenever there is a video playing?
Not in iPhoto, afaik. I Aperture it would be easy.
As a work-around you could use GarageBand to create a custom sound track that's fade in and out when your videos are shown, assuming you have the complete iLife package installed.
    Export your Slideshow as movie.
To edit your sound track in GarageBand add the song files to the time line and arrange them,
Drag the slideshow movie to the Timeline, to see the positions of the videos and to help to get the timing right.
    Delete the movie soundtrack.
Then show the master track (cmd-B) and enable the master volume.
Adjust the master volume curve to fade out the sound when you want silence.
Delete the movie track and share the sound track to iTunes.
Then add this track to the slideshow.

  • Slideshows in Aperture 3

Folks, Two quick questions.  When making a slideshow in aperture 3 how can I get the program to just put my photos in a Random order?  I don't want to manually move them around.  Also, what would you say is the best software for creating energetic music video type slideshows that flow to the beat of the music?

I think only one of those is a quick question:
To present your images in random order, copy and edit one of the slide show presets and enable the "Shuffle Slide Order" button - see this paragraph in the Aperture 3 User Manual: Playing Slideshows Using Slideshow Presets
Also, what would you say is the best software for creating energetic music video type slideshows that flow to the beat of the music?
In Aperture this would be a lot of work. You would have to adjust the timing of each image to the beat of the music.
Can you program? Then your best bet would be Quartz Composer (Part of the Developer Tools). With Quartz Composer you can sync the presentation of media to the beat of the music.
A quick-and-dirty work-around: or create a special iTunes Library and use one of the Music Visualizers to present the slides. For example, build a playlist of small music clips and set your images as cover art of these clips. Then use a music visualizer, that will show large cover art, like iVisualize set to "Rotating CD" or "Now Playing".  For the advanced visualizers to work in MacOS Lion, however, you will have to run iTunes in 32bit mode (at least the last time I tried).
So the second part of your question is still open for further suggestions

  • Help with Aperture

Right now I only use Aperture to edit RAW files and export finished images to iPhoto for viewing purposes. Is it possible to have Aperture libray located on an external drive? is it possible to have multiple library?
In your opinion, which one is better for viewing and slide show purposes? Aperture or iPhoto?

Yes, your library can be located on an external
drive. Drag the library to the selected drive and it
will make a copy. Then go to preferences and select
choose and navigate to the new preferred location and
select. Yes you can have more than one library, but
Apple can only see oner at a time. You simply select
the one you want to work with using the methodology I
gave earlier. Aperture is far better at viewing and
managing your images. I also prefer the slideshow
    feature.

  • Best Large Format Printer with Aperture 3.1 & 10.6.5??

I have an Epson R1800 and am not pleased with my print results. Prints are too dark and generally lack "pop". I have read through threads here and other places and tried a lot of suggestions ... all to no real improvement.
Simple question -- which larger format printer (13") are you using that works very well with Aperture?
    Thanks.
    Ken

    Hi,
I use the Epson R1900 with very good results. I never expect what prints well to look good either on my monitor, or on Slideshows transfered to video usage. If it looks good on my monitor, that is what I want the settings and adjustments to be locked into for my files. I think my monitor is very true -- some proof of this is evidenced by prints I have made via the print services I have available to me via SmugMug. Those prints (either Bay Photo or EZPrints per my choice) look just like what is on my monitor when shipped to me, and that is super! The print process fundamentally must compensate in some manner to achieve the backlit look of a monitor. I get very close to that in the prints from Aperture now, by using the Brightness and other controls in the Print Dialogue.

  • How to completely replace iPhoto with Aperture

I would love to use Aperture for all my image-handling, but it seems iPhoto is hard-coded into the OS X workflow. For instance, when right-clicking images on the web, there's the possibility to save to iPhoto. Same thing thing when doing a slideshow in Preview, there's an option to add pictures directly to iPhoto.
Does anyone here know how to completely replace iPhoto with Aperture?
    Thanks
(ps: did search in the forum here, but couldn't find anything about this)

Hi, you seem to be right, although I've never used that myself, it made me go off and test it myself.
However, you can use the 'save image to <my-downloads-folder>' feature, and then import the images into Aperture. Which is what I've been doing anyway. It's a two step process for sure, but it'll work.
I'm very much like you, and trying to swap from iPhoto to Aperture. I have to say that I haven't actually run iPhoto since I got Aperture though.

  • Using Fotomagico with Aperture

    Hello,
Does anyone have any experience using the slide show program Fotomagico with Aperture? It has a feature where you can access your iPhoto libraries easily to create slideshows but doesn't seem to have the same access to the Aperture libraries. A
Has anyone discovered any workaround for this or do I just have to export images into a folder and use them that way.
    Cheers,
    Lisa
    www.lisahaskins.com

The reason you cannot drag-n-drop right out of Aperture is really quite simple.
It would involve the same steps as you exporting a version.
The photo you see in iPhoto is either the original imported JPG, or a JPG from the imported RAW file, or a modified JPG(if you have made any enhancements/cropping to the image), so dragging and dropping works well there because you are merely copying a file from the filesystem to the application.
IF you could drag-and-drop from Aperture, users would complain that it is too slow, and much slower than silly iPhoto! The reason it would be slow is it would involve a full rendering of a new JPG based on the changes you applied.. this would take just as long as exporting the image the old way.
Ever made a change to an image in iPhoto? When you move to the next it tells you to wait while it regenerates the new stored image. Imagine Aperture doing that! No thanks!
I have used Fotomagico(which IMHO is THE choice for slideshows) with images from Aperture. I make an album either at the project level or the folder(of projects) level and drag in the images I want to use for the slide show. Once I have made those choices I export them all to a folder and point Fotomagico at it. Works great!
I am sure V2 of Aperture will have some sort of slideshow tool built in, but probably not as robust as an external dedicated app like Fotomagico.

  • Slideshow with music keeps stalling

My Aperture slideshow with music keeps stalling in various places.

    G'day RittDog
It's relatively easy if you're prepared to spend the time doing it.
    • First, forget about the slideshow option. Instead, open up an iMovie project and import your slides into it (ensure you're first set to NTSC for the US of A). Use the Ken Burns effect if you want. Also, add transitions between slides. Unlike the slideshow, you can use different transitions for each slide if your tastes run to it. Don't forget to set the required time for each slide.
    • Add your music track(s)
    • Now, using something like Audacity (it's free), record your voice over tracks (one per slide) for each slide (you do have a microphone/iSight don't you?). Set Audacity to 48,000 Hz by the way. Trim the tracks, or select the appropriate part. Export the trimmed tracks or the selection as AIFF files to a folder.
    • Import the AIFF files into itunes, and use from there, or open the AIFF folder into the media/audio window, or simply drag & drop them. Place them into the middle track in iMovie. Arrange each voiceover to it's appropriate slide.
    • Dampen the music during each voiceover, or for the whole show.
    • Export to iDVD, burn as disk image.
    • If you really, really want to have the voiceovers as a choice, export a Quicktime movie WITHOUT the voiceovers (untick them via the box alongside the right of the track), and then export again WITH the voiceovers (different name of course). Import the two movies into a suitable iDVD menu, with a button for each.

  • Slideshow with video

I've created a slideshow with video and photos. In plays back fine within Aperture. When I connect a projector (mini display port to vga at 1024x768), the photos play fine but the video skips. It plays fine if I esport the slide show and then play it with the monitor. Video is 1920.
Since I'm doing this at a wedding and time is short, I'm trying not to export the slideshow.
Can I make this work without exporting?

Are you at the wedding now? I guess you going to taking shots and video and trying to put something together that you can show while at the wedding? You must like pressure
How are you showing the video through the projector? USing the secondary viewer settings in Aperture or just mirroring your laptops screen via the OS?
Whichever one your using try the other. To be honest this may be a tough thing to troubleshoot you may have to just do the export. Think of something to entertain them with while the Aperture exports.
