Slideshow with soundtrack

Is it possible when creating a web gallery through iPhoto or when you have a My Album Page in iWeb to have a song played during the slideshow?
Thanks,

Bruno ~ To create an efficient "movie" slideshow with music, in iPhoto, select your photos and choose File > Export > QuickTime tab. Then select your options for Images, Background and Music. Then click on the Export button and save it to your Desktop. Then drag the .mov file from there to your iWeb page.
You can click the Play button in the movie controller to see how it looks, but before publishing you'll probably want to uncheck "Show movie controller" in iWeb's Inspector > QuickTime tab.
You can also drag that .mov file back into iPhoto and publish it to your .Mac Web Gallery where it will appear under the Albums section.
Or, if you import that .mov file into iMovie and publish to your .Mac Web Gallery from there, it will appear under the Movies section.

  • Problem Exporting slideshow with soundtrack in LR3.

I am trying to export a slideshow for a homework assignment. When exporting video with "pictures only" it exports just fine. When I add a soundtrack I receive:
    “Log (6)
    Assertion Failed: Seld->aenc
    AVC video encorder…
    infor: version 8.0.0.47059
    Info: Platform: Windows 64bit
    mc_enc_avc.001)
    extendedoption: Media_time_offest : 0.000000-> 1000.000000”
I have exported a slideshow with music before and never had problems with it. What can I do to fix the problem?
    I use a pc windows 7

After much research, I discovered that iTunes can create a compatible .m4a file
in iTunes,  highlight the Voice Memo you want to convert, then select Advanced...Create AAC Version.
This will convert the file and create a .m4a file of the same name.
Unfortunately, it is not in the same directory, and iTunes gives no feedback as to where it is.
Nor does it list it in the VoiceMemo playlist in iTunes.
    I found it in iTunes\Music\Music\My iPod\Voice Memos\
My sincere thanks to Dan Tull of Adobe for giving me the clues I needed to sort this out.
He has also flagged a bug report so hopefully future versions of LR will handle this situation more gracefully.

  • How to Repeat Slideshow WITH Soundtrack?

I've made a 3-minute slideshow, accompanied by a music soundtrack over most of it. The iMac will be used to present the slideshow automatically over an 8-hour day.
I'd like to either loop it or have it restart after an idle minute. I've found that if I use the "restart when idle" option set to 1 minute, the presentation simply stalls on the last slide and never restarts. That's with the Mac sitting untouched for an hour. Alternatively, if I set the show to loop, it does - without the soundtrack. Sound works the first time around, but not after that. Setting the soundtrack to loop restarts that way too soon, before the show does. I'm reluctant to try to build a precise-length mp3, set both the show and the soundtrack to loop continuously, and hope it doesn't creep its way out of sync over the day.
Any other options to make the "restart when idle" feature actually work? Not my first choice, but I need to maintain sync unattended. When using it, I've turned off sound looping and show looping.

Not an option for me, as I notice that exporting to Quicktime forces one set duration for all slides, which is bad. I was hoping to transfer it to an iPad and play it in Keynote there. Thanks, though.

  • Slideshow with Videos and Pictures

    Hi!
I am trying to make a slideshow with photos and various short videos interspersed among the photos. I have a customized playlist for the slideshow so that there is music playing when the photos are being shown. My problem is that the music continues to play when the videos are playing which interferes with the audio in the video. Is there anyway to get the music to pause whenever there is a video playing?
    Thanks!

Is there anyway to get the music to pause whenever there is a video playing?
Not in iPhoto, afaik. I Aperture it would be easy.
As a work-around you could use GarageBand to create a custom sound track that's fade in and out when your videos are shown, assuming you have the complete iLife package installed.
    Export your Slideshow as movie.
To edit your sound track in GarageBand add the song files to the time line and arrange them,
Drag the slideshow movie to the Timeline, to see the positions of the videos and to help to get the timing right.
    Delete the movie soundtrack.
Then show the master track (cmd-B) and enable the master volume.
Adjust the master volume curve to fade out the sound when you want silence.
Delete the movie track and share the sound track to iTunes.
Then add this track to the slideshow.

  • Creating a slideshow with Keynote

Is there a simple tutorial somewhere showing how to create a slideshow with music in Keynote?
I tried the Help menu and the PDF instructions that come with Keynote, but could find no simple instructions for a newbie to follow.

If you have individual music tracks you want associated with specific photographs, you can Build each track into a slide and then Build the photographs into the same slide. Then, you can set the photo Builds to be "automatic" so that they will be loosely synchronized with the music. (I emphasize "loosely" because the speed of Builds is not absolute, and varies with the processor speed from computer to computer, so it is not possible to have absolute synchronization with this procedure.)
If you simply want to have a slideshow, with music running in the background, you can do as Tulse has described: create the music playlist in iTunes and Record it as a Soundtrack in the Inspector/Documents/Audio menu. This also will allow you to "Record" the Builds and Transitions in sync with the music. CAVEAT: this will playback properly ONLY as a stand-alone Keynote presentation. This does not seem to retain sync when exported to another format, or even when played as a Keynote presentation via a Hyperlink.
Another possibility is to create the slideshow and establish a timeline for the Builds and Transitions. Then in Garage Band (or any other music editing software) you can create a music track timed to the slideshow and then import it (via iTunes) into Keynote as a Soundtrack.
It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish as to which is the most appropriate method (or series of procedures) that will work best for you. However, as Tulse has said, there is no tutorial on this subject. Trial-and-error and a little hands-on experience will be your tutors.

  • Problems exporting slideshow with music from iPhoto 5 to iDVD

I made a slideshow on iPhoto, and selected one Playlist with 4 tracks as backgroundmusic. When I ¨play¨the slideshow in ¨iPhoto¨ I can listen the music ( all 4 tracks), but when I ¨export¨ the slideshow or ¨send to iDVD¨, the final Quicktime movie contains all the fotos but only the first track of the Playlist.
    I use Quicktime 7.1.3, iPhoto 5.0.4 and iTunes 7.0.2
Can somebody help me to find a solution...:)...? thanks...
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

this was a known problem with iPhoto 5. do you have the latest update to iPhoto 5?
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
With iPhoto 5 this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

  • How do i set up a slideshow with pictures from multiple iphoto libraries?

How do i set up a slideshow with pictures from multiple iphoto libraries? One library is in my Macbook Harddrive, the other 2 libraries are in an external harddrive. Thank you!!

You can't, simply. An iPhoto Slideshow can only draw from a single library, so you'll need to get all the images into one.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
    FotoMagico $99
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • I created a 23 minute slideshow with music. how can I share it? youtube and smugmug both say it is too large?

I created a 23 minute slideshow with music of family vacation. Youtube and smugmug both said it was too large to post for my family.
suggetions please?? I use to use Mobileme...

A few different ways about this. You could split the slide show into smaller sections that are withi the limits for posting and then post each section.
You could try a different encoding to make the file smaller. What settings did you use when you created and exported the slide show?

  • Will  an iPhoto slideshow with music work on all computers in China?

I am making a promotional DVD for an education program in the US, and taking it to China to education fairs. If it is an iPhoto slideshow with music, will it work on all Chinese computers? I assume so, because since it is not video, I should not have to worry about different formats-right? I've got enough to worry about on this trip!
    Prof. Fisher

On every single computer in China? Impossible to tell. But if you create a slideshow in iPhoto and send it to iDVD to be burned to a DVD then it will play on anything that plays DVD.

  • Hi... I am looking for an inexpensive app for my macbook pro that I can put pictures and videos together into a slideshow with captions and music WITHOUT a watermark and that also will burn the slideshow to a DVD in its own app. Help?

Hi... I am looking for an inexpensive app for my macbook pro that I can put pictures and videos together into a slideshow with captions and music WITHOUT a watermark and that also will burn the slideshow to a DVD in its own app. Help?

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.

  • How do I create a slideshow with music and voiceover?

I am trying to create a slideshow with photos, music (iTunes playlist), and voiceover created in Garageband. I cannot figure out how to have both the voiceover and the music play during the slideshow. I also tried iDVD but ran into the same problem.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song, how to set it up to show the photos for the duration of certain songs... if that is possible. Use separate tracks for music and voiceover/narration so you can adjust volumes independently.
I also wanted certain songs to play during certain sets of pictures and I can't figure out how, other than to create separate slideshows for each song,
Use separate tracks for each song or use two tracks and alternate songs on these tracks so as to allow maximum alignment/overlap possibilities.
how to set it up to show the photos for the duration of certain songs... if that is possible.
Slide photo and/or song to align beginnings and then drag the end photo "handle" left or right to change its duration to match the duration of your song.
