Slideshow won't export to itunes

I've previously been able to export man slideshows to itunes. I'm now using iphoto 9.4.1 and OSX 10.4.7. I can create and watch the slideshow fine but when I try and export it, the process starts but there is no progress on the progress bar and the picture is black/blank. Itunes opens up after a moment but nothing happens. Have repaired and rebuilt library. Updated flip4mac. Exported slides to desktop. Tried smaller shows with new pics. Have 100GB space available. Nothing is working. Can't reload from app store because 10.7.5 does not support the latest version of iphoto, needs 10.9 or greater. Any tips?

Hi rholcomb01,
It sounds like you are having issues with exporting a slideshow from iPhoto, a frustrating situation to be sure. I would suggest using the steps in this article to troubleshoot -

  • Blurry slideshow photos when exported to iTunes

My photos in iPhoto are crisp and clear, but when I export a slideshow (into iTunes) they come out blurry. What am I doing wrong?

    Nope.

  • Slideshow won't export with music when preview is fine?

I have a slideshow that I chose a song from my iTunes library and when I preview it everything is fine. When I export the slideshow I get no sound. I've created a separate slideshow with the same pics and same song but still get the same result. This is maddening. Anyone else have this happen?

What's the source of this song? Bought online? Is it DRM protected?

  • Slideshow won't export

Why won’t my slideshow export? It doesn’t even show up on the finder list. In fact, even all of the older slideshows are grayed out. I don’t get it. I tried installing a new plug-in because my videos on Facebook weren’t running either. That fixed Facebook. It did not fix this. I have: OS X Yosemite, ver. 10.10.2, iPhoto 9.6.

Folks with problems exporting slideshows have fixed that with a reinstall of the app:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Quicktime won't export to Itunes??

I have been using final cut express to make my videos. When I export them, I export them over to quicktime. To upload them to vimeo, they need to be below 500MB. I have always just uploaded them to Itunes which makes them smaller. I have done this for years now. Now, all of a sudden I am getting this message when I export them over to itunes:
Can’t make file "Macintosh HD:private:var:folders:iO:iOileZbUEKGVLQJbYlGoXE+++TI:-Tmp-:Butt Kicking Salmon (Computer).m4v" into type alias.
I don't understand how all of a sudden I can not do this procedure. Anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it? I have searched all over and I can not figure it out. I am also looked for Itune updates
    Thanks guys!

I realize your workflow was working correctly for you, and suddenly it is not, but I think I don't understand exactly what you are doing. I am not trying to derail your thread in a non-productive direction, but to me it sounds like you are doing to many steps to do what you want  . . .
Can you give a more detailed account of how you are doing your export?
What settings are you using in QuickTime conversion to convert the file?
If you are converting it to a Vimeo friendly codec and frame size, why is iTunes involved?

  • Can't Export to iTunes

After finishing a GarageBand file, my iMac G5 won't export into iTunes. It's gets to the end of the slidebar and then just sits there. Nothing.
Also, I have been unable to install any iTunes upgrades since the horrible 7.0 or 7.01 version. The installer opens and it won't go past the "preparing" window. I get the following in the Installer Log window:
Package Authoring Warning: The installer script defines but doesn't use (and can't install) package id manual version 8.0.2.2230000.1687.
I've tried removing the prefs files from both GarageBand and iTunes and I still have the export problem and the inability to upgrade iTunes.
Any solution besides a clean install (which I had just done a month prior to the problems beginning)?
    Thanks!

  • Cropped song settings won't export to slideshow

For some reason, my start/stop time settings for individual songs in itunes won't export to an iphoto slideshow. Is there another way to do this?

    David,
Your right. Changes made to the stop and start time of songs in iTunes don't seem to have any effect in iPhoto.
I suppose one work around would be to first burn the music for your slide show to a music CD and then reimport the tracks.
You could also use iMovie, GarageBand or a third party app like Sound Studio to actually edit the tracks (probably best to edit copies of the tracks) and then reimport the edited tracks back into iTunes.
Kind of a hassle. I'll continue to think a bout a more elegant solution.

  • Music won't export with slideshow

I've created a slideshow with music that works perfectly in Iphoto. When I export to Itunes or IDvd the slideshow looks perfect, but no music is playing with it. I double-checked to make sure my playlist is selected and applied.

Try creating the slideshow using another account to see if the problem is repeated there. If it is not, then the issue is in your account.
If you can't get things to work correctly here is an idea for a workaround. Create the slideshow in iPhoto, but do not use any music. Import into iDVD as a slideshow, and add your music there.
You can also report your difficulties to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
    I hope this helps.

  • IPhoto 6 Won't Export Slideshow Audio to QuickTime

When "exporting" iPhoto 6 albums to Quicktime the audio selected in iTunes does not export with the selected Album photos. iPhoto "Help" says that iTunes' music selected for the slideshow also will export as the Album's "selected" music. But the slideshow music selection will not export to QuickTime with the iPhoto 6 photo album. Has anyone solved this problem? Thank you very much for any suggestions you may have!

My situation is a bit different. I can not seem to export a "slideshow" without getting that awful sample music.
The process is File>Export>QuickTime. No Make Slideshow and then export.
From the Help files I am supposed to create a slideshow and then select music from iTunes in the SlideShow settings menu. Of course, I've now got a slide show with a huge filesize I didn't want. Delete isn't that big of a step. So now it is back to File>Export>QuickTime and check the box to add selected music.
Of course, there is no way to know if the music has been identified and included in the export. Just trust, I guess. OK, make the export happen.
Now, open the QuickTime movie file I just created. Once again, that awful sample music has been included. I've done this so many times with the same result.
Work around is to export the images as a QuickTime movie with no music. Then open the QuickTime move and add music.
Any idea as to why Apple put that stupid music checkbox in the File>Export menu if it only grabs the awful sample music?

  • Won't export slideshow

I have a slideshow with 160 photos in it. When I try to export the file as a 4:3, 720x460 quicktime movie...it won't export it. It either gets halfway, and then crashes...or chews on the whole file, but then only exports the first 15 photos in the sequence. I need to get this resolved ASAP. Please help!

Try a couple things, Jeff, to improve your likelihood of success. Make sure you have the latest Quicktime version supported by your OS. Make sure you don't have other applications running at the same time. Run your OS maintenance routines (eg, with MacJanitor) and then use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions. Make sure you have at least 10% of your hard drive free.

  • Why slideshow from iPhoto take long to export to iTune

Why slide show take so long to export to iTune and then appleTV

Took 2 hours to export a 40 minute project.
Previous version of iMovie rendered each transition, title, special effect, as a physical file (which is why rendering took so long), stored it in your project, updated a "reference" file which represented the current status of your timeline. iMovie '08, on the other hand, performs all of it rendering at the time of export and then compresses the file for your selected export specification.
So after doing that with another project I exported them to iDVD. It told me I had to have a Dual Layer DVD just to fit two 40 minute videos, plus it had to encode them.
Sounds like you forgot to change your iDVD output mode from the 60-minute HQ mode to the extended 90-mode here. Remember iDVD encodes to MPEG2/PCM and not MPEG2/AC3.
I start to export and it take about 40 minutes, then that bar disappears and a new one begins to creep across, it says the estimated time is 5000 minutes.
First bar was probably for the "menu" and the second was probably for the movie content. BTW, do you have have iDVD set to encode in the background or to begin encoding only when you manually start the burn process?

  • Can't export to iTunes anymore

Been using GB for about six months. Yesterday after finishing a song in GB, I told it to export to iTunes, and it tried...it finished up until the part where iTunes automatically opens and the file appears in iTunes. Instead of that happening, iTunes opened, and I saw in the iTunes status window: "Copying 1 of 1: Bounced" then that failed, then the OSX message "Error: Cannot read or write to disk." I checked the permissions for the HD, and "Read and Write" is NOT highlighted as an option. However, I can save documents anywhere but GB. So I reinstalled all my OSX software, including iTunes. Now iTunes won't open at all--it tries, and then I get a message that it unexpectedly quit. I thought it might be a Library issue, so I tried dragging the library onto the desktop, even the old libraries. Nothing changed. I reinstalled iTunes, but still the same thing. I don't think it's a GB problem, but I really can't tell at this point. I posted a similar question in iTunes, so hopefully someone from one of the forums can help...Please?

    Deauthorization:
If you have ever purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, Apple has placed digital rights management copy protection software on your main hard drive (where Mac OS X lives) that identifies you as the legal purchaser of those recordings.
If you back up your whole hard drive, reformat it and re-install everything, or if you put in a new hard drive and set it up to be your Mac OS X main drive, you lose the right to access any of the iTunes Music Store songs that you have purchased, because you have inadvertently deleted Apple's digital rights management copy protection keys that authorize you as the owner of those recordings you purchased.
So if you need to do this to your main hard drive, first you must go into iTunes and do a de-authorization. When you set up your new hard drive, you have to re-authorize.
    Apple sez:
[blockquote]To deauthorize a computer to play songs or spoken word content purchased from the iTunes Music Store, choose Advanced > Deauthorize Account. Then choose "Deauthorize Computer for Music Store Account" and enter your Apple or AOL ID and password.[/blockquote]
Similar steps have to be taken with many other music programs that utilize copy protection in software, such as Sibelius, SampleTank, Cubase, etc.
It's confusing because all that Apple and other companies tell you that you must de-authorize and then re-authorize if you move all your files to a new computer. While that's true, it's misleading, because the authorization issue also applies if you move to a new hard drive inside your existing computer.

  • Podcast won't export from Garageband to iWeb

    Hi all
Help appreciated with this. I do a two hour music podcast (www.whatyouwantradio.com also available at http://soundcloud.com/whatyouwant-radio) which is created in Garageband and then exported to iWeb for uploading to my website. I've been running this, with few problems, since April 2009.
Recently the garageband podcast won't export to iWeb. It's random, and I seem to have been able to bypass it by changing the filename slightly, or adjusting the quality at which it is exported (I like to export at 320mps for best quality - big files but no complaints from the 100 or so listeners. Could be more - who knows as I can't get stats from iTunes. But I digress). However, the most recent podcast, which is already available on Soundcloud, just won't export. It goes through the motions (mixdown etc.) but nothing appears on iWeb on the other side. No error message, nothing. I know that memory has also been an issue in the past but right now there is plenty to spare (5.37GB at last glance).
I'd really be grateful for some help on this, I'm at a bit of a loss - no error message, no clue. As I say, this podcast has been going for nearly three years and it's only recently I've had this problem.
    Cheers,

Just a further note on this. I tried a couple more times yesterday to export the file. Starting out with over 5GB of memory, by the time I had tried twice this had gone down by a couple of GB. Still no export. This morning I noticed some new files in the trash that were from around the time of the failed exporting:
Note sure if you can see that, but I'm guessing the files are something to do with the failed export? Does anyone have any thoughts? Either way, this problem is still annoying the **** out of me...

  • New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files

HELP! - New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files. I just did the automatic upgrade to the new version of Quicktime and now I can't export WAV files from a CAF file. The original .CAF file plays perfectly but when I attempt to export it the exported file is corrupted and won't play. I have another computer with the previous version of Quicktime and it exports the same file flawlessly. Anyone know what's going on with the new version? THANKS!

+Error writing to the file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\nb.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.+
More often than not, that sort of message indicates file damage rather than a privileges issue on the file.
If you've got Windows XP, try doing a chkdsk over your C drive, as per:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
If you've got Vista, try the following procedure. Go "Start > Computer". Right-click on "Local Disk C:" and select "properties". Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check now" button in the "Error correction" section.
Do the disk checks find/repair any damage? If so, does an install go through properly afterwards?
