Slideshow

Slideshow
60 images with 4 buttons.
I am looking for some help or guidance on something I would
hope would be easy to do.
I have 60 images 600x400px that I would like to play in a
slide show.
I want to have 4 buttons.
ButtonA= previous image
ButtonB = next image
Button C = AUTO PLAY (the slide show plays through with out
clicking, fade in fade out.
ButtonD = STOP AUTO PLAY.
My concerns:
being able to make my own buttons and feel of the slide show
Loadtime
Never used XML
Lots of images for an autoplay slide show.
I have build very beautiful slide shows with as many as 20
images.
All the images are embedded into the fla. Load time is not
bad. Transitions are fades in and fades out. I just now need to do
it with 60 images.

  • IPhoto slideshow using mini-dvi to video adapter

When using the mini-dvi to video adapter to connect to my widescreen tv (via composite), to show iPhoto slideshows, the transistions between slides dont apear and there are no ken burns effects. The slideshow runs fine on my MacBook display (ie when not conected to the tv), and the is no other distortion or flickering (as reported in other threads), this seems odd to me or is it just a limitation of analogue output.
    2Ghz MacBook, White   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • TS4425 How can I remove Photo Stream pics from my Apple TV slideshow?

I am a decorator and take photos of furniture, fabrics, etc on my phone daily, but I do not want these photos cycled in the slideshow on my Apple TV.  I have iTunes pulling photos from designated folders on my home computer, but I can't seem to figure out how to remove my iPhone photo stream pictures.  Suggestions?

    Hi lpetershagen,
Here is an article of information on ways to delete photos from Photo Stream:

Alternatively, you can choose different photos for the Apple TV screensaver by following this:

  • Is there a way to create a slideshow viewable with a DVD player?

Hi there, is there amongst the Apple programs (or else) something that would allow me to show my digital photos on TV with a DVD player? Manually commanded with the remote, or with auto time lapse, fading or transitions?

I tested both Photo Magico and iDVD. Both produce a nice slideshow with good image quality when previewed on the computer. PhotoMagico has some really professional grade blending and zooming effects, and allows placement of multiple sound tracks, which is not possible with iDVD where you just drop one file and it plays in buckle.
The problem with both is that when the slide show is encoded, it looses too much quality! Images loose their detail, their colour depth, and they flicker inacceptably. The worst is with PhotoMagico who sends the already compressed file to iDVD to be compressed again and burnt. The loss of quality from the very neat preview to the resulting DVD is enormous. Sent to Toast Titanium, it's a little better but aliasing effects are still very annoying.
I then tried a slideshow made directly in iDVD. The quality is merely acceptable, still not professional. The images are so compressed that they loose their details, and the edges of the frames and every straight line in the images flicker...
Compressing an original 5 Gb slideshow made of JPEG files to 1,5 Gb seems an enormous rate of compression. Is this the way it is with those programs, or have I missed some settings somewhere? Is there no way to preserve the initial image size when passed to DVD? Alternatively, would the pro version DVD Studio Pro have more flexibillity? It's there on my computer, but the interface is turning me away! ...
    Thanks again for any hints!

  • Is there a way to create a pan and zoom effect in a lightroom slideshow?

Is there a way to create a pan and zoom effect in a lightroom slideshow?

Nope. Be a great feature. For that I use FotoMagico after exporting JPEG's from LR.

  • I have received a disk of photos which are avi files, what software do I need to download to be able to view the slideshow and save them within i-photo please

Having had some photos done at a photographers, they have passed me the disc of the slideshow, which is in avi format, however I cannot view it on my imac, I would be really grateful if someone could advise me what software I need to download that is compatible with the imac whereby I can view the slideshow and also whether I can then save the slideshow to iphoto.  Hope you can help, I am not great with technology as you can probably guess.

I use Smart Converter which is free on the App Store. It is easy to use , just drag and drop the files to convert to Quicktime , takes no time and great results.

  • Can you show slideshow within Lightroom 4.4 in Adobe RGB color space?

Can you show slideshow within Lightroom 4.4 (not export out from LR) in Adobe RGB color space provided that you are using a wide gamut monitor which is capable and hardware calibrated & profiled to show such color space?
If this is possible, what is required to do so in Windows 8 and i7-4770 & HD Graphics 4600 platform or does LR take care of it automatically?
This is very basic question, however, I could not find a clear answer/info from LR documentation, so wish that someone can advice.

Those settings are probably stored in a plist somewhere in ~/Library/Preferences. If you can locate the appropriate file, you should be able to copy it to all the network user folders.

  • ITunes No Longer Working With iPhoto Slideshow

I'm not certain, but as I can no longer play music from my iTunes Library along with an iPhoto Slideshow, I think this is related to the new 7.7 iTunes update.
My iPhoto by the way, is the last version - 6.0.6.
Has anyone else noticed a new-found inability to have songs in your iTunes Library accompany an iPhoto Slideshow? And better still - how can this be fixed?
    Thanks kindly,
    john

I just discovered that after the iTunes update and the Lion update, my iTunes wouldn't update anything except what was in the library already.  New songs, apps, movies all equaled bupkiss.  I went into advanced settings and saw that my library location was blank.  I'm using an external drive for my music.  So there's a bug, since it would play everything thing in the library but was unsure where the library was so that it could write to it.  I just relocated my media drive and now sharing and updating the library works fine.

  • Has anyone reported the Slideshow clipping bug?

When I last posted this, I was told I must be doing something wrong. So, assuming I didn't quite understand what I was doing, I started over with some fres graphical images. Here's what I discovered:
When in Slideshow mode, Apple TV consistently, regardless of mode (720p, 1080i) will clip 36 pixels off the top AND 36 pixels of the bottom of any image it displays.
When parading by images, when you it is displaying the contents of a photo album, all appear 100% fine. When you select the "slide the images up in a layered display" they are all displayed 100%.
With the Ken Burns effect on OR off, Apple TV seems to reserving 72 pixels for possible photo/image sliding. Seems like a bug that if I turn off the Burns effect, it still reserves those 76 pixels.
I did extensive testing with Photoshop drawings as I could not figure out what was going on. It is extremely difficult to notice with a photo, unless you have a head shot, where you can see the top of a head (or some other image) right near the top of the photo. Tell me it's not clipped in slideshow view.

    Winston,
+If you check carefully you will notice that your movies do exactly the same thing on the tv, it isn't just something that affects photos or the tv+
Thanks for the suggestion. I take it, then, that in order to prove it is overscan I have to make a movie that will have measurable edges, bands of color, each (say) 8 pixels hight? And then create a movie in iMovieHD? And then play it on the AppleTV only to see, what? The clipping of 72 pixels due to overscan? It's possible... a lot of work, but worth it to know where the source of the clipping comes from.
The images I am using are not 6:4 photos, but are (typically much less than) 1280 wide and (exactly) 720 high. I already explained that I was using photoshop to create images that were 720 pixels high, each having a 40 pixel border of black on the top and the bottom. The width is inconsequential, as for these images, clipping the width is not important. I mentioned that all photographs are also clipped but, since most people use the Photo feature on appletv to view snapshots, they don't miss the content.
All of my images are cropped to 16:9; you crop yours using iPhoto, I create them in Photoshop. If I have time this weekend, I will test your overscan theory. If that's the case, I'll let you know, and then see if there are any adjustments for overscan on my set.
FYI, while overscan does indeed exist, almost all examples in the Wikipedia refer to horizontal overscan, resulting in horizontal, not vertical, clipping. You are correct in that it still exists. This has been a real learning experience for me. I had assumed that digital = "exact."
    Live and learn.

I wonder how these images would look on a monitor, which uses underscan...

  • IPhoto rotates images in slideshow even though the thumbnail for that images has the correct orientation.

This problem seems bizarre to me considering iPhoto 11 has worked with out a hitch since I upgraded from 09 ages ago.  The photos in my album suddenly changed orientation from landscape to portrait and vice versa and sometimes upside down.  I first notice this problem after I tried to click and drag a large number of photos directly from iPhoto to Finder.  I did a Command-A to highlight all the photos from my album and tried to drag them to a folder in Finder.  There are 34,000 photo in this album but only half were copied, (I guess 34,000 items is too much for Lion to copy all at once).  I tried fixing this orientation problem by highlighting all affected photos and selecting "Revert to Original" which fixed the orientation of the thumbnails.  But when you double click on a thumbnail to view the pictures or view the album in a slideshow, some of the pictures still have the incorrect orientation but most were corrected.  Also if I double click on an affected photos to edit it with iPhoto image editor the image suddenly orientates itself correctly.  Then as soon as I close the image editor and view the photo or start a slide show it's displayed with the incorrect orientation again.   How is that possible that all my thumbnails are orientated properly but when I view the photo it's rotated sideways or sometimes rotated upside down?    Any help or insight to my problem would be much appreciated.

Revereting to original will not fix the problem.  When you invoke that menu option iPhoto will read the file again, see the tag that tells it to rotate the file and will rerotate it.
The most reliable way to fix this is to rotate those file before they are imported into iPhoto. Upload from the camera to a folder on the Desktop, rotate those that need rotating, rename if desired and import.  I use Xee for that because it can rotate the file losslessly.

  • Slideshow feature in Adobe Bridge in CS3

I use Mac OS X 10.5.5 with Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge CS3. I am using a Sony DSL a350 and shoot my images in Sony's raw format which they label as ARW. Photoshop recognizes this format. But, if I wish to save my images in a readily recognizable raw format, the only option offered is Photoshop Raw. This works fine except that when I want to view these Photoshop Raw files using Bridge's slideshow feature, all I get is a tiny thumbnail instead of a full screen image. Strangely enough, when I double click the image in Bridge, it opens up the full file.

    > Photoshop recognizes this format. But, if I wish to save my images in a readily recognizable raw format, the only option offered is Photoshop Raw.
When opening a Camera Raw format (such as your Sony ARW format) you HAVE to save it out as a TIFF, PSD or JPEG out of Photoshop. You CAN'T save it out of Photoshop as a raw digital capture because once you open it via Camera Raw it ain't raw any more...it's processed.
Photoshop Raw is not for digital captures, it's literally a raw format meaning you have to spec out the byte order, etc.

  • How to View Slideshow but NOT in FULL SCREEN?

I often would like to start a slideshow of images on my mac but I don't want it to take up the whole screen. I just want to view the slideshow in a window. I have tried both iPhoto and Preview and can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to do that in either of those apps?
    thanks

    HI,
I like iPhoto for slideshows. Preview doesn't support the enhancements such as the Ken Burns effects or audio like iPhoto does.
Open iPhoto. Select a slideshow in the source list on the left.
Click the Settings button at the bottom of that window.
Make sure: *Scale photos to fill screen* is not selected.
If you need more help, post in the iPhoto Forum

  • How to take pix out of a slideshow and back into a simple folder in iPhoto?

I was only experimenting with slideshows and now have 61 photos in a slideshow which I want to revert back to a simple folder of pictures. I do not want those pictures in a slideshow.
How can I get all of the 62 pictures in that slideshow to revert back to 61 photos in a regular folder in iPhoto '08?
I guess I should have duplicated the folder of 61 photos before I made it into a slideshow. Then I could have just deleted the slideshow. Yes or no?

    Lorna:
You can reduce the number of Events by creating Smart Albums with criteria that you would like to have the photos grouped by. If you'd like the events to be by year and month, set the smart album's criteria to be Date is in the Range 01/month/year to 30/month/year. Then select the contents of that SA and use the Events->Create Event menu item to create an event with those photos. Then change the date to the next month and do the same. You can use any criteria you want for the SA but Events are time based and work better that way.
P.S. are you in So Cal. permanently or just visiting. Wanna trade houses?

  • How do I create my own favorite template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to templates, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get

First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to already existing themes, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get. I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn.  I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.
