Slideshows on Albums page

I am wondering if there is a way to get more options when creating a slideshow on the albums page when you put the curser on the box. I want to be able to manipulate the size of the slideshow box more than what I can now on the albums page. I also want to be able to adjust the speed of the transitions. I have done all I can do in the inspector and in the pop up menu when you select the album. Is there a way to further my options or possibly another way to add slideshows to my site other than using the iWeb template?

it can be done in iweb but you need to understand how iweb widgets work, here is my example of iweb albums page (auto start):

  • I want to put a slideshow onto a page on my website without having the pics and/or albums listed below

how can you put a slideshow on a page in iweb without putting the albums and or pictures below?

Here's one way to do it using iWeb's photo slideshow (without showing the individual photos) on this test page: Page-7.  All it takes is some code, listed on the test page, in an HTML snippet. Also for the photo page be sure there are no options selected, i.e. like downloads, reflections, subscriptions, etc.
Be sure to go to Cyclosaurus' site, a link in on the test page, to see his version of it.

  • Skipping Album pages (Index links to Slideshow page)

is there a way to do this?
i'm using iweb '08 to set up an online portfolio of sorts. 4 main pages: main/home, resume, portfolio, contact info.
the portfolio page will contain 4 albums of various types of art/design work and i'd like to skip the actual album page when you click on the album, instead taking you directly to the slideshow page. is this possible?

I have been trying to do the same thing but haven't had any luck, there must be a way of deleting the page and making a link to the slide show.
I was also trying to improve image quality iWeb seems to make the images very soft even if I pump up the sharpness it doesn't seem to make any difference.

  • Is there any reason photos in an album page display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

Is there any reason photos in an album page created in iweb display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

there are three displays in photos page:
    1) thumbnails grid - smallest
    2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
    3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
    3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
it's difficult to know which you refer to.
if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:
    #slideshow {
    position: relative;
width: 320px; /* this is default width */
height: 360px; /* this is default height */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    overflow: hidden;

  • Where do i place pictures on my album page?

I tried to place jpg images onto an album page but they don't show on website.
after moving and renaming pics/images -some actually show, and some show as black/white shapes,
but none as album photos or slideshow
Am I using it the templates wrong?

Use a Photos template for individual images.
Create albums in iPhoto and then drag them onto an albums template from the media panel.

  • Changing structure of an album page of images

OK dummy me - of course I can remove "Subscribe to" using inspector and switch off "Slideshow" as well.
But I would still like to reconfigure an album of images page if possible, so that all the small icons
don't line up right on top of an open image. I realise that pressing a little provided button gets rid
of the little icons or brings them back - but what I am basically after is like the old Mac.com pages
where you had an image and you could pop it up. Without the above option of seeing all the little icons
or not as well. OR if it can't be altered, at least creating a much larger gap between the little icons (when open) and the main opened image. I am slowly getting the hang of all this, so forgive my somewhat basic questions please!
    Thanks
    Gareth

what you referred to is photos template's detail view - not album page.

  • IPhoto Album updating iWeb Album page

OK .. I'm lost! I created an iWeb Album page and a new matching iPhoto album to put the photos in. Now I've added new photos to the iPhoto album and they don't show up in iWeb. There is a lot of work on the iWeb page with a lot of descriptions etc and I don't want to have to delete the page and drag in the new updated album. What am I missing? How to I sync any newly added pictures in the iPhoto album with the iWeb album?
    Thanks...

The iWeb pages don't automatically update like iPhoto Web Galleries do. You will have to add the new photos to the iWeb photo page and republish that page.
If you were using a iPhoto Web Gallery in an iWeb page then all you would have to do is click on the publish button in iPhoto and the gallery would be updated when accessed via iWeb.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • "My Albums" page question

Does anyone else with a "My Albums" page find that it takes a while to open it in iWeb. All my other pages open pretty fast except for that one.

The My Albums page is a slick looking way to present albums but, like the blog, it generates huge files.
The other problem is that your captions can't be read by spiders and you can't add descriptive text.
The Photos page is not quite so bad but still has the same problems.
Then you are stuck with the default slideshow.
For a site like yours I would have thought it would be better to have a page of thumbnails with "spider readable" captions and text which, when clicked, display a larger image.
This can be done the hard way by making a new page for every enlarged image using the thumbnails as links to open in a new window.
You can make life easier by grouping thumbnails to display more than one image per page which cuts down on the work involved.
I've been working on a site to show all this sort of stuff and I'll send you some examples later today when I get the flash version finished. This is way quicker to implement.
The site is not nearly finished and, like iwebformusicians.com, keeps growing, otherwise I would give the URL here.
The method of having a thumbnail, caption and product description with the option of a larger view seems to be the most successful and popular way to display items on commercial sites.
I am resisting the temptation to have the enlarged image appear on the same page as the thumbs as I find this to be slow, distracting and irritating on sites that have this arrangement.

  • Slideshow from album in PSE4

Is it possible to create a slideshow (.pdf preferably) including music overlay from malbum pages creation in PSE4?

    Todd,
Curious as to why you specifically want to use the Album pages as input to a PDF slide show - instead of making a Collection of your photos then using that Collection as the input to first an Album Pages creation and then second to a PDF slide show ?
I experimented with a few ideas but have not really found a good answer.
    Alternative 1
In the PSE4 creations process, save your Album Pages Creation as a PDF file, then open that PDF file with Adobe Reader. There are some options in Adobe Reader under
    b Picture Tasks
that let you create a slide show with music which is then saved as a different PDF. Whether you will be able to use these Picture Tasks on the PSE 4 Album created pages is a big question. I have Reader 7 installed and sometimes I saw the icon for Picture Tasks and sometimes I did not. I have no explanation as to why sometimes it was not possible to do the Picture Tasks against a PSE 4 created PDF file. However, if you can make this alternative work, I think it is the better choice.
    Alternative 2
In the PSE4 creations process, save your Album Pages Creation as a PDF file, then in the PSE 4
    b Editor
open the PDF file. During the open process, you should see a window with an image for each page of the PDF file; select all of these images. The editor will then open each of the pages as a separate "photo". At this point I individually did a Save on each "photo" (representing a page). In the Save box I left the file type as PSD (as it appeared) and I checked the Include in Organizer box. Back in the Organizer I then saw a thumbnail for each page of the PDF. I selected these thumbnails, started the Create process for a slide show, and added an mp3 file for the music. I did an output for the slide show specifying PDF format. One very
    b big disadvantage
of this method is that a Windows Media plugin for the PDF reader is needed in order to play this PDF slide show with music. If you are sending this slide show to other people, they may not have the plugin.
Please do share your experiences and conclusions with the forum for the benefit of everyone.

  • Keeping iWeb album pages intact after transferring domains

My company needs to transfer iWeb sites to other computers so that multiple users can edit the sites. We know how to transfer the domains, but when the sites are opened on the other computers, the photo album pages are missing. This is obviously because those photos don't exist in the new computer's iPhoto.
My question is: Is there a way to save photo album pages to iWeb so that when the iWeb domains are transferred the photos stay intact? I don't want us to have to send photos all over the place where the new users must upload them into their own iPhoto, etc.

iWeb is a "single user" application and each user account has their own special folder and "package" file that is used by iWeb.
Multiple user accounts to one of these "packages" is very impractical.

  • Linking an image from one page to an image within a slideshow on another page.

I would like to link an image on my home page with an image within a slideshow on another page of my website. I can create the link, but when I click on the link, instead of taking me to the image within the slideshow, it takes me to the first image of the slideshow which I don't want. Is there a way to link to an image "within" the slideshow and not the first image?

    Hi
You can create pages with specific images and then use link of images which will open the page with that specific image, link images within slideshow to show exact image within would not be possible with native Muse feature as by default slideshow will open the first image in target.
    Thanks,

  • Can't drag images into new album page

Just started using iWeb because it seems easy to produce good looking basic pages. I may be missing something obvious, but having trawled all through this forum and iWeb help, I can't work out why the album page won't accept images dragged from the iPhoto tab of the media browser.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the prompt reply Mr Old Toad. In fact, despite the title of "Album Page" seeming to be self explanatory (usually the case with Mac software & why I love it so much) and the software instructions which say "Drag photo and movie pages here to make them accessible from one place", this time I have discovered by messing around that you have to add a "photos" page while the Album page is selected on the left. You then drag the required images into the photo page (not the album page). Each additional photo page added appears on the Album page as it is added.
One of the first methods I tried was to create an album in iPhoto and attempt to drag that into the album page. Didn't work, hence my request on this forum. So, looks like I answered my question myself. I still appreciate your diligent attention to this forum Mr Old Toad. I'm sure there will be a future problem that may not be so easily solved and that your or another's suggestion will come to the rescue.
    Thanks

  • IWeb 09' photo album page cannot be displayed on IE7/8

I have created a photo album page with iWeb 09'. Publish to a folder and test on Windows system (IE6/7/8). All photo frames cannot be displayed, but just the title and some text. The page is blank afterwards with background colour only. Firefox for Windows is fine. Anything I can do as there is no other option for export / publish webpage to folder...... thanks a lot.

  • Multiple Slideshows On One Page

Hi, I'm wanting to have a dynamic region which consists of 4
images with fixed sizes. I then want each of these images to run
through a dataset of image paths fading between each image at a set
interval (Much like the Spry Photo Gallery Slideshow does).
I've edited the photogallery down to just the fixed size
image fading between the dataset (e.g. I removed the thumbnails and
controls etc so that it is automatic and continuous).
Unfortunatelly my JavaScript skills are limited and I was
wondering what would be involved to edit the script further to
allow me to have 4 of these slideshows on one page instead of just
    the one 'mainImage'.
    Thanks for any help.

I'm not entirely sure how you mean to achieve this via css?
here's my current code. With this I can generate multiple
slideshows (currently using the same dataset) however only the
first one seems to acknowledge the defined fixed image sizes, the
rest display the original image dimensions within the container
sized to the defined dimensions. How come the images don't resize
for both? I'm calling the same function. Any help much appreciated
    thanks.

  • Movies on photo album page not working correctly

I have movies on some photo album pages, and only since updating to Snow Leopard, when I click on a movie, the sound begins to play, but the picture sticks on the poster frame. If I go "back to album" and click the movie again, it will usually play normally. What gives? Anyone else have this happening?

I have a similar problem with movies. Put a movie made on the iphone into a space holder place on a Blog page. Got the green plus sign and it played on the page.
After publishing I see the first frame on the main blog page, but when I click read more to see the movie and whole blog entry I get a faded quicktime symbol with a question mark symbol in the middle.
