Slideshows show photos out of order

Hi there
I have an Apple TV and looking at my slideshows, my photos are displayed out of order. I renamed all the files so they are in the sequence I want, however that made no difference.
Seems as though the Apple TV is showing the files in order of the time the shots were taking which is not what I want given the re-naming process I went through.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

AppleTV shows you your pictures in whatever order AppleTV decides, and you WILL like it. ha ha.
Seriously, I've tried and failed here. I have no clue how the thing decides what order to show pictures, I don't think it's necessarily in the order I shot them in.. it's more likely the order they get copied over by iTunes. So maybe uploading your photos 1 at a time will enforce a specific order.
Since there's no way for Apple to monetize your personal photos, I don't think they are really interested in developing that part of the software as well as they do for the movie rental and itunes store portions. I've had this device for almost 2 years now and pretty much only the parts that they use to sell me stuff have been improved in that time.
Personally I'm about ready to convert my iTV into a doorstop.

Photos App not showing photos in chronological order!!
what gives apple?!  I take a picture, go to Photos and since theres no more camera roll, I'm forced to go into Photos Tab, and when I select "Collections", I see the tiny thumbs of all my pictures sorted which look fine in chronological order, But when select to go down to the next level of viewing (Moments), the dates are all over the place!  When I scroll all the way down, I should technically be at the most recent of my pictures taken. Its not, it shows Aug26. Then one above that Aug 21 Then next few are in Aug; mind you we are in September. Then theres Jun 25. THEN finally some recent photos of Sept 26 and 15!!! THEN the next one is MAY 31.
So trying to find my most recent photos taken is painstakingly tough.

Check this thread out. I have mobileme, but this solution worked, perhaps you could try something similar for your Gmail account...

  • Imported rolls from CDs show up out of order in Library!

I import my photos that I take on film and have had scanned to CDs. I just imported new rolls from CDs and they show up in my Library several rolls earlier from the ones that I imported yesterday. I had issues then w/ rolls being out of order as well. I have tried moving rolls by "batch changing" the date and or time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am left with several rolls out of order. It is a mess. I can't seem to figure out how to control the order within my Library or change once imported.
Has anyone else had this problem? Know what I should do to solve? Prevent problems in the future? This didn't use to be an issue!
Using iPhoto 5.03 (haven't updated to .04 because I don't import from camera.)
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   iPhoto 5.03

by album. I've tried all the variations of "album" too, by clicking on it a few times.
But I just discovered that if I don't have the track number listed in the Info section, that it gets out of order. I've manually changed a few and it has worked. Just wish I got it before it went into the system.

  • Apple tv shows photos in random order

    hi,
i have the 2nd gen apple tv and i can't get Photos showed properly.
They are on my pc (Windows 7) and they are sorted by filename (001.jpg, 002.jpg ...).
When i try to watch the photos using apple tv, they are displayed in a completly
randomized order. This order has nothing to do with the filename, the date or the size,
    it's completely random.
Any hints on this problem ?
    Best regards
    Stefan

    I'm a PC; Windows 7-64; Apple TV 1st generation
I had the random problem as well with one particular folder of photos. No matter how many times I renamed/relabled them, nothing worked until this.
I noticed that the other folders with photos IN ORDER still had their old camera id numbers (i.e. IMG_0762, etc.). It was then that it dawned on me that maybe Apple TV didn't like my numbering system for tha out of order photos. This numbering system (file name) went from 1 to 177.
So I made all the photo file names into 4 digit numbers and it's important to use the zeros properly. photos 1-9 became 0001-0009; photos 10-99 became 0010-0099; photos 100 to 177 became 0100-0177.
After I re-synched these, they were ALL in the proper order...
    ENJOY

  • Video and audio not sync when i play all forms of video. from music videos, to tv shows. but they play perfect on my iPod. and tv shows display out of order on iPod, but in correct order on iTunes/computer. I even ran a virus check just to make sure.

audio and video do not syncronize.  all forms of videos. music videos to tv shows.  what do i need to do the syncronize them again
they are in sync on iPod, but not on computer.
another issue that might be from the same cause is, the order of episodes of the tv shows i have downloaded,   they appear in order on computer, but on iPod they show out of order.
any tips on how to fix this would very much help.
    thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
An old version of iTunes will cause this and mess up the videos on your iPod. Always make sure you always use an up-to-date version of iTunes.
Make sure all the software on your computer is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
You will then need to restore the iPod and then let iTunes update your iPod and put your music, videos, etc. back onto your iPod...
    Restore the iPod

  • Photos out of order with iOS5 update

Looking for any advice I can get on my out of order photos on my 4g ipod touch.  When the last major operating system update came down the line I had a similiar issue.  The way I solved it last time was by batch changing all the dates for my pictures in iphoto.  My folders in iphoto are numbered sequentially.  Any advice?

  • Release Date not showing - episodes out of order?

    Hi everyone!
I recently submitted a podcast for work and it was accepted yesterday. During testing, the order of the episodes were right based on the date they were released. However, checking the live version, the released column information is blank and the episodes are all out of order.
From what I understand, it's supposed to get that from the XML. For each item, we have: <pubDate>02 April 2014</pubDate> that did show up when we tested it directly.
    Any thoughts? Thank you!

Sorry, I guess I should have posted that information, haha.

  • Mavericks, Photo Booth issues -- photos out of order

I recently updated to Mavericks, and since then all of my photos have been out of order in Photo Booth. I have been able to reorganise them according to date created in the root folder, but not in Photo Booth itself.
    Any ideas?

Same issue here as well. Photobooth is sorting by file name. New images created have a long file name includng the date and time. Earlier photos are named photo1.jpg...Anybody know a good file re-namer?

  • Just upgraded and photos out of order

WOW, I just upgraded to 11 and all photos are out of order
in previous versions if I wanted to look at my library (Photos) they would be in order of when they were put into iPhoto, from the 1st to most recent.
with the upgrade they are all random. Is there any way to get them back in order? as in, the order they were installed into iPhoto?
    thanks

Earlier this month I tried to ask the same question but not as well. In any case I don't understand your suggestion. When I go to View-> Sort Photos the only options are sort by date, keyword, title or rating and in either ascending or descending order (manual and reset manual sort are grayed out). How does this make the latest added image appear as the last added to the Photo Library. If there is eXIF data, the photo gets imported and placed by photo-taken date in the Photo Library. How do I make iPhoto disregard the eXIF information? I understand I can go to Last Import and then manually change the date the photo was taken, but this is very cumbersome when importing a quantity of photos.

  • ITunes TV Shows are out of order in iPhone tab.

I've been importing a TV Show Season from DVD into iTunes so I can watch the TV show on my iPhone at the gym. Everything works well, the TV shows are imported, I enter the meta-data for each show, title, episode #, etc.... When I look at my TV shows in the TV Shows tab in the side bar, they are all listed in order by episode number. Yet when I go to the iPhone tab in the sidebar, and the select the TV Shows tab to try and sync, all of the episodes are random and in no particular order at all. Maybe I'm just being OCD about it, but I want to watch the seasons in order and now I have no way to do this? Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks

Just discovered your post, I made a similar post with the same problem, only concerning Podcasts and not TV Shows. I don't think you're being OCD about it at all. It's only logical to expect that if you can put the songs of a music album in a certain order and listen to them that way, that you should be able to do the same with a TV show or Podcast series.
Check to make sure all of the following are set:
    Info tab: Track number
Video tab: Show, Season Number, Episode ID, Episode Number
The TV shows on my iPod are in the correct order, but the Podcasts are not. Unexpectedly, I think it may be the Track number from the info tab that keeps them in order. I just removed the track number from an episode and it went out of order.

  • New messages in inbox show up out of order.

My server is NOES2 with GW 7.0.4 Server. GW Client is 7.0.4.
I have one user that whenever new emails come into their inbox the emails show up at the bottom of their que instead of the top of the que. If the user then switches to their sent items and then back to their inbox the email that was out of order then shows up in its proper place. This only happens to one user and it does not matter which computer the user logs on to.

I have seen this happen if a user has a "filter" on the mailbox for some reason.
Also, perhaps check to see what the display options are for the mailbox. Is it
just "details"? Or perhaps something like "Checklist"?

  • When I try to watch my photos on apple tv they show up out of order

I watch my photos through Apple TV however they are not in the same sequence as on my computer.  Why??

    Hi donmac17,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  How are you streaming your photos from your computer to Apple TV?  Are you using Home Sharing, or are you using AirPlay with iPhoto or Aperture?
iTunes 12 for Mac: Play items in your iTunes library using Apple TV (2nd generation or later)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19499
With Apple TV (2nd generation or later), you can stream content to your home theater system from any iTunes library in your Home Sharing network. You can also stream digital photos stored on your computer.
To stream content to Apple TV (2nd generation or later), you must set up Home Sharing in iTunes and on Apple TV.
For Apple TV (1st generation), see Play items in your iTunes library using Apple TV (1st generation).
Set up Home Sharing on your computer
In iTunes, choose File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.
Type your Apple ID and password, and click Turn On Home Sharing.
Repeat these steps for each computer you want to use to stream content to Apple TV (2nd generation), using the same Apple ID and password.
Set up Home Sharing on Apple TV
On Apple TV, choose Settings > Computers.
Choose Turn On Home Sharing, and then enter the same Apple ID and password you entered on your computer.
Stream your iTunes library to Apple TV
Make sure your computer is on and iTunes is open.
On your Apple TV, choose Settings > Computers, then choose the iTunes library you want to stream from.
The contents of your iTunes library appear on Apple TV. To play an item, select it.
Stream photos from your computer to Apple TV
Once Home Sharing is set up on your computer and on Apple TV, you can use iTunes to stream photos to your home theater system.
In iTunes, choose File > Home Sharing > Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV.
In the window that appears, select Share Photos From, and choose a source from the pop-up menu.
    Do one of the following:
Choose “All photos, albums, events, and faces.”
Choose “Selected albums, events, and faces,” and select the items you want to stream.
    Click Apply.
For more information, refer to the Apple TV Setup Guide.

  • Show photos in random order (with possibility to switch back to last one shown)

    Hallo!
I'm having trouble to to show my entire photoselection on my ipad in random order - like on a regular photoframe. The only possibility I figured out, was to show the whole library as a screensaver in random order. Unfortunately in this case I'm neither able to zoom in the current picture or to switch back to the last one(s). In the build in photos app i can start a slideshow with all pics but I didn't found an option to randomize them.
I already tried tons of photoframe-apps, but all of them have problems to import all of my ~30.000 photos (automaticly) without having to select every single one of them.
Does anyone have a solution on this??

I'm now using Snow Leopard, and the same thing happens. Don't know if it is relevant or not, but one of the things I've noticed is that the System Preferences window (even when hidden) shows in the right place, but clicking on it doesn't work. It is as if the window and the buttons are somewhere other than where they show on the screen. Quitting System Preferences and restarting it solves the problem.

  • Showing photo titles in ordering window

I've labelled all my photos 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc. Then given people an order form on which they write the numbers of the prints they want. Then the idea was I just add them up and order the totals for each print. But when I opened the Order Prints window I found it wasn't showing me the photo titles! Is there a way I can get the titles to show??
    Please help...someone.
    Thanks a lot.
    Yours in annoyance...

I don't think so. It's not designed to break it out by image, just the total of each size.

  • ITunes showing albums out of order iOS 7 - iTunes showing nothing not on iPad but have to download by each album

I really didn't think they could screw up iTunes more but it seems they have. It seems that iTunes is the one branch of the Apple tree that has been left to run ragged and alienate customers at will. Design, Marketing, Support and Stores still seem to be the same Apple and functioning in a way to grow as well as retain customer base. iTunes - not so much.
All albums showing out of track order on iPad now - this is a real treat for live concert albums especially. I will note that this is the case for both albums purchased from iTunes as well as copies of CDs I had already purchased and ripped but fixed their titles to sync with iTunes versions (that's another bone to pick that there should be a simple way to tell iTunes yes this is that album - so the in the store function works and album art is simply facilitated - they loose sales daily from the inability to hit in the store for CDs that you ripped from your purchased copies but that impulsive purchase that iTunes makes millions from is lost because most people do not spend the sometimes hours to link them back in)
    How do I fix this?
iTunes Store shows no purchases not on the iPad but I have to download album by album because they aren't there.
    How do I fix this?
    iTunes regularly forgetting album art?
    How do I fix this?
I get the aesthetic that they were going with for iOS 7, and in most cases I think it works. iTunes is a mess. While yes I did like the visual album flip that has now been removed completely (but used in other ways or at least the style is now your safari pages on mobile) but the white is way too much most especially in the case of "currently playing" changing that mode from a great visual leaving the iPad playing playlists to an incredibly nasty stark light fixture. I do understand the design decision to make album covers appear smaller so that their retina screens are looking their best but I am hoping there is a way to chance the background in this mode. If not it has become completely useless to me and I am sure many others.
How do I fix this? Can I fix this?

I ended up fixing my issue. The problem was the fact that some of the songs in an album were marked as part of a compilation, but some were not. iTunes seems to be less strict about grouping things in albums, so I never really noticed it.
However, this, combined with the fact that I could not update the metadata after the song is added to iCloud resulted in me changing the metadata on the computer, only to have it reset when I updated Match. I solved the problem by deleted everything from iCloud and rematching it, but only after I had corrected the compilation issue.
So, if you are havng the same issue, delete and readd everything to iCloud. I deleted everything from a second PC (that had no locally stored files) and then rematched from my laptop (where iTunes asked whether I wanted to add to iCloud, keep the song, or delete it. Choose "Add to iCloud" to rematch).
