Slight audio stutter in IDVD 6 when played on TV

I am new to IDVD, but the program seems pretty good. The only issue I am having is slight audio stutter throughout the slideshow on the burned DVD when played on a TV. I tried multiple TVs and they all had the same hiccup occur and at the same spot. The slideshow plays great in IDVD without any hiccups or hesitation. Also, the audio file is being imported from itunes and I have listened to it several times to rule out a bad song file. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Aparently, I am just going to create my own thread documenting my frustration on this journey
You learn more that way.
According to their documentation, this is actually a DVD player issue and not an encoding issue. Ok??? Then, how come other programs are able to seemlessly play over 99 slides without the hiccup?
Slideshow audio playback drops out after 99 images at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302962 explains things.
DVD slideshows with more than 99 images are a recent 'hack' created by Apple. Images in such a slideshow are treated as Chapters and DVDs are limited to 99 Chapters per Track. When you use more than 99 images, your DVD player must jump to a new track for the 100th image. Some players can do this with no problem, others have a hiccup in the audio, and still others reset eveything.
The ONLY sure way of creating a slideshow with audio and more than 99 slides is to create one as a movie in iPhoto or iMove.
Sorry, but that's the way things work.

  • Audio out of sync when playing HD content

    Hey
I've got an issue with the audio gets out of sync when playing some HD content. I've tried to make sure the video is stored on the Apple TV so it can't be the network connection.
I've also tried a full reset of the unit, but still no luck.
But it's all video clips that has this problem. Even though they encoded the same and so on, some videos audio get out of synced and some don't.
Also have a problem with m4v files locking the ATV (and iTunes for that matter), but renaming it to a mp4 file seems to solve it. But if someone has a fix for that as well I'd much appreciate it.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jeaz
EDIT: I have tried to use component cables instead of HDMI, but the problem remains. Of course also tested the video on my Mac and no problems. A quick pause and resume usually solves it, but only for a minute or so.

What sort of specification is the video content? Is spec too high for AppleTV.
It may be that it's some kind of bug in AppleTV's playback, that the Mac does not exhibit, or an issue with encoding that causes a problem only on AppleTV.
If you are encoding video and using same as source for the frame rate, it may be better in some cases trying explicitly to specify the frame rate required in case automatic frame rate conversion is introducing some kind of timing issue. Test a short clip to see.

  • Audio stops and starts when playing back in Premiere CC

I've been having this problem for a while now thinking that an update would come along and solve the issue.
Basically when I try to view what I've edited on the timeline the audio very annoyingly stops for a bit then comes back just to disappear again, on and off throughout the entire edit.
I thought I would be able to cope but I cannot work like this.
I've made a list with a few of the things I've tried to do to stop this from happening to not waste anytime.
I thought it was perhaps coz my audio was a high quality wav. file so I converted to a 96kbps MP3. Still had a problem.
Changed sequence settings to Apple Pro Res which was suggested from a previous thread. Still had a problem.
Rendered just the audio. Still had a problem.
Rendered the entire in and out point. Still had a problem.
Played around with both audio hardware preferences (built in output & system default output + input). Still had a problem.
Kept the project file on the local disk, with only media on a thunderbolt G-Tech drive, as suggested/mentioned in a previous thread. Still had a problem.
I'm working from a Mac Pro with the following specs.
    Processor:   3,5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
    Memory:   32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics:   AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
Please can someone help! This is extremely frustrating especially with the amount of deadlines I have at the moment!

  • [SOLVED] No audio in Chrome (even when playing local files)

I'm running Arch on a Vizio CT14-A4 laptop.  Audio works in other programs, but sometimes it doesn't work in Chrome.  In the past this problem has magically disappeared and reappeared, but today it persists after multiple reboots.  I updated my system, still no dice.
Initially I assumed it was a Flash issue, but now I believe it is a browser-level issue since there is no sound even for local .mp3 files (that play fine in mpd).
Could Chrome be accessing the wrong playback device?  I have one card with two subdevices:
    $ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CS4210 Analog [CS4210 Analog]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
The first entry is the one I want to use.  Since it's device 0 on card 0 and I don't have a .asoundrc, it should be accessed by default.  Is there a way to check whether Chrome is overriding default behavior and using the second entry?
Edit (much later): Turns out this was a mixing problem, I don't remember how I fixed it.  Essentially audio could only be played from one source at a time.  Not Chrome-specific.  Marking solved.

Oh, sorry, I should have mentioned: I'm using Alsa, not Pulse.
I'm trying to get any audio content working in Chrome, doesn't matter what.  The fuser command gave the same output whether I was playing a local MP3 file or streaming a YouTube video.
In ~/.mpd/mpd.conf, I have the following:
    audio_output {
    type "alsa"
    name "alsa-mpd-ncmpcpp"
    Regarding your last sentence,

I don't know whether I specified anything in device or whether mpd uses hardware directly.  How can I check?  (I'm still a bit new to Linux!)

  • PE13 Audio Stutter on Export to AVCHD

PE13 users, I need a bit of advice on troubleshooting an export of some HD video to AVCHD. Coming from PowerDirector 12, I just purchased PE13 and am experimenting with the software. Several video clips shot via Sony camcorder 1920x1080 60i 30 FPS, none more than about 2 minutes each, for a total of about 7 minutes. I've imported these clips into a new PD13 project, added a few transitions, and exported as M2T - H264 1920x1080i 30 (audio setting: Dolby Digital, 192 kbps, 48  kHz, Stereo). Video looks great, however, audio stutters a bit in some places, a lot in others, and plays fine for stretches. It should be noted that I exported even longer video of similar settings via PowerDirector and have not experienced any audio stutter ever.
When I export this same project as MP4 - H264 1920x1080p 30 (audio setting: AAC, 160 kbps, 48  kHz, Stereo) the audio plays flawlessly.
Are there any settings that may eliminate this stuttering when exporting as M2T - H264? It looks like I may be able to reduce the kbps of the M2T file to 160, but would rather not if it wouldn't make any difference anyway. I'll experiment when I get home to see if lowering kbps helps, but in the meantime, any other advice would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

I would say go with the AVCHD.mp4
But consider you can take your Timeline to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc using
    Publish+Share
    Disc
    Blu-ray
and have a choice of Presets
    Presets
    H.264 1440 x 1080i NTSC Dolby
    H.264 1440 x 1080i PAL Dolby
    H.264 1440 x 1080p NTSC Dolby NEW
    H.264 1920 x 1080i NTSC Dolby
    H.264 1920 x 1080i PAL Dolby
    H.264 1920 x 1080p NTSC Dolby NEW
The 1080p ones have frame rate of 23.97 progressive frames per second. The 1080i have are either
25 interlaced frames per second or 29.97 interlaced frames per second depending on NTSC or PAL.
If you want to export to file saved to the computer hard drive, a good choice in your case for a later burn to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc
    would be
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30
You cannot customize the burn to presets. But, you can customize the preset for the export to file saved to the computer hard drive.
But, those settings will be overwritten in the encoding process in the burn to process to give you the format cited above.
Please let us know if that targets your question.
    Thank you.

    Hi
    No audio on DVD disc.
    Most common origin.
    1. Imported audio from iTunes.
    • In iTunes copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff (Same as played on standard Stereo CD - no .mp3)
    • Use this in Your movie project
    2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser
    (iM’08 & 09)
    3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provoking it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.

    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down) (Save as a DiskImage)
    • Double click on the .img file

    Hi
    My first two thoughts
    • Shared to Media Browser - BUT as Large or HD - try Medium !
    • audio from iTunes - use to go silent
    - in iTunes
    - Create a new PlayList with needed audio
    - BURN this as a standard Audio-CD (.aiff) - NOT .mp3
    - use the files on this CD in Your Movie project - I ALWAYS DO - and only use .aiff ever - never .mp3'

  • Audio portion stops when playing movie

The audio portion of my movie stops playing. I have remade the movie and the disc several times.  There is no indication, prior to watching it on TV, that there is a problem.  The burn is successful and when I open the file the movie plays fine on the computer.  I don't know if the way I have made the movie is contributing to the problem.  Obviously, I'm new to this so please bear with me if I'm giving too much information.  I have a total of four clips (movies?) that I bring into the idvd menu.  Three of the clips are based on months throughout the year.  The fourth clip is a combination of those three so that I have an undivided movie of the whole year.  I guess I'm questioning whether the reuse of the pictures and music make a difference even though they are independent clips.
I'm using imovie and idvd 11.
Do you have any suggestions as to why the music quits and/or how I can solve this most frustrating and time-consuming problem?  Thank you.

  • IDVD won't play on Bose DVD, little volume when played on another player

I just finished an iDVD, using two movies created in Photo-to-Movie and iMovie, and another just in iMovie, with some video I shot. I placed all three movies onto a DVD.
The movie plays great on my Sony DVD player, although volume is pretty loud, compared to commercial DVDs. It plays great on my iMac and a PC.
On the Bose system I have, a 1-2-3 model (AV-18), the DVD player does not recognize the format at all. When played in another DVD player (Oppo) I have hooked up to the Bose for sound, I can barely hear sound, even when set to top volume. Commercial movies played either on the Oppo or Bose are fine.
Is this just one of the many pain-in-the-rear dysfunctions of a Bose system, or should I figure out a way to use another format when use iMovie/iDVD to create a movie?

Commercial DVDs are pressed, not burned, so they are 'read' differently by DVD players.
I know that burned DVD disks can play differently in different DVD players. Mine always play great on my Sonys, but not always on my Toshiba. The Toshiba seems to read the audio tracks in reverse, making the audio louder where I have decreased it and vice versa.
I have not tried my DVDs on Bose or Oppo players, so I don't know if the problem is more specific to them.
Be sure you are using a quality brand of DVD disk; Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden are recommended here. Memorex and TDK are not. Apparently their disk layers are thinner making burns inconsistent.
If you burned a DVD +R disk, you might want to try it on a DVD-R disk. Also, choose a slow burn speed.
I always use Verbatim archival gold disks DVD-R, burn at a speed of 4x or less.

How can I get my ES2 loops to play correctly? I keep getting the message that the audio is not found when I drag the loops from my audio browser even though they play fine in the preview.

It's exactly as I stated. Whenever I try to drag these kinds of loops (ESX24 / software instrument loops? the ones marked in green with the white music note next to them) from the loop browser into the timeline a message comes up saying Audio Not Found for that loop.  And a new track is created automatically when loops are dragged into the timeline, so I'm not creating some other random / synth instrument track so I'm not sure  what the deal is... But perhaps I'll try creating a software instrument track first and then drag the loop into that track and see what happens - maybe there's something with the default settings that automatically creates audio tracks whenever loops are imported?

Not only can i not see the individual chaptes -- apparently like you and everyone else suffering through the "improved" iOS7 -- when my audiobook repeats a "file" within  chapter, which it sometimes does, I cannot get "inside" the chapter and move forward to where I'm supposed to be.

  • ITunes 7.6 No Audio When Playing a Music Video or Movie

I just installed iTunes 7.6.0.29 (It was released today).
There is no audio when playing a music video or a movie that I've purchased. Movie trailers and music videos in the iTunes store have no audio either. Videos from iTunes University that I've downloaded (such as an MIT lecture) play fine w/ audio.
Music audio (such as tracks I've purchased or tracks on the iTunes store) play fine.
QuickTime videos, such as a QT video on my desktop play fine. Windows Media Player works fine too.
So, why don't music videos and movies play (w/audio) on iTunes 7.6??

I'm experiencing what appears to be the exact same issue. I just installed iTunes 7.6.
    Video but no audio:
    Purchased iTunes TV episodes
Streamed video trailers in the iTunes Store
    Works fine:
All music files, including protected files purchased through iTunes
The standalone Quicktime player performs normally with MOV files. Windows Media Player still performs normally.
I found an old support doc complaining of a similar issue with a previous iTunes release and tried the suggested fix: Uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it using the standalone installer (Quicktime 7.4). I also reinstalled iTunes. Neither solved the issue.
I'm very disappointed that I can no longer access the files I've purchased. I hope this is fixed very soon.
