Slight charge in the casing when power is connected

When the power is connected, I touch the case of my macbook and an analog audio connector, there is a buzz on the speakers connected to that connector. That buzz goes away when the power is not connected. I'm not an elictrical engineer, but I doubt this is any sort of serious issue, just something interesting I noticed.
  Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Its quite normal with the metal casing and using the power brick without the grounded extended cord which I'm assuming you aren't.
There is an KB from Apple regarding this issue. Also if I'm not mistaken its also in the User Manual for the MBP and other PB's.

  • Ipod is saying it's charged all the time, and won't connect at all to comp

ok, so i have the white ipod nano, the first ones, and it's saying that it's charged all the time. you know the plug sign in the battery at the top of the screen, it's like that permanently!? and the only time when it's not showing it, is when the USB lead and the block charger that goes into the plug sockets is connected to it, which seems completly ridiculous i know, but yeh. and so when i want to connect it to the computer (obviously having to remove the socket block charger from the lead in order to connect to the USB port), it says it's charging again, and the computer doesn't recognise it whatsoever. anyone know how to sort this out, or any techniques to get the computer to connect to the ipod!?
it's really getting on my nerves. i know my ipod is very old haha, but i hate the new ipods and i've been trying to rekindle it's life on many occasions haha
pleease help, and suggestions would be very much appreciated!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    or maybe this:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

    Hello, BAHannebaum.
The article below should resolve any device not being recognized in iTunes issue that you are experiencing.  The most common issues are the Apple Mobile Device Support driver or iTunes is outdated.  Start with the first step and test the results after each step processed.

  • Muvo TX FM: is the 256mb slightly faster than the 512mb when switching modes?(and starting u

I was just wondering if the muvo tx fm 52 is slightly slower than the muvo tx fm 256 when switching modes ?
because i have the 52 and my dad has the 256 and i noticed there's a difference
both of them have the lastest firmware on them .5.0
both of them are reasonably full / capcaity close to full
when i switch from radio mode to music in folders mode : the transition between the two modes are smooth and immediate on the 256
but when i do this on my 52 : i seem to have to an extra second of waiting time before it goes back into music mode
yeah i know it's a bit nitpicky to bring such a thing up , but i thought it was strange that there would be a difference , since they're both the same model and firmware ( only a difference in capacity between the 2 )
this occurance didn't start to happen until i upgraded it recently to .5.0 ( when this occurance starting appearing )
or maybe it's just my 52 that does this ?
anyway another thing that's strange that i've tested :
if i do switch back to an older firmware version for my 52mb : this extra delay between switching modes is non-existant / goes away
( it was non-existant before i upgraded to the new firmware )
also another thing i've noticed is the 256 seems to be faster at starting up after turning on too
when i first turn it on , only takes till the /4 of the sand in the egg timer icon and drained to the bottom before it starts playing music
with the 52 , it doesn't start playing music until all the sand in egg timer icon has drained to the bottom ( a second longer wait before the music starts playing )
also another thing to note is that
the firmware that came with the 256 , was .5.0 ( bought in april )
i bought the 256 a couple of months ago
with my 52 , which i had since december : i've used firmware old firmware that came with that ( i think .0.04 ) ( until switching to the newest firmware recently )
i was just wondering what's calling this extra seconds worth of delay in my 52 , that's not present in the 256 ?Message Edited by low-quality on 07-04-2005 0:43 PMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 04:08 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:37 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:42 AM

Sounds like it could be because of the capacity difference, maybe a mod could confirm this.

  • Getting a buzzing sound when power connector connected

    Hello,
Everytime I connect my power-connector to my powerbook, i get a buzzing sound, which sounds like something is being written to the hard drive. When I dont have the power-connector connected, the computer buzzing vanishes. Has anyone else experienced this? Does the battery really have to charge that loudly?
    Thanks in advance.

What type of AC adapter do you have?
The Aluminum 15-inch and 17-inch MUST use a 65W adapter. Contrary to popular belief, the 45W adapters are not meant for these machines, even though they "work."
When I plugged a Titanium PowerBook's adapter to my aluminum 15-inch PowerBook, I got a buzzing sound emanating (coming out) from the AC's "brick." The TiBook's adapter was a 45W.
While connected to the standard 65W adapter, no problems with my aluminum 15-inch PowerBook.
45W is lower rated and doesn't have enough juice to charge your 15-inch or 17-inch correctly. While it is charging and providing power, it is weaker. You may notice it takes longer to charge your battery when connected to a 45W adapter as opposed to the 65W one.
Though, playing devil's advocate, some 65W adapters can make that buzzing sound if they are faulty or damaged.
SIDE NOTE: This makes it seem like the 65W adapter is then, logically, not good to use with the 12-inch PowerBook G4, but it is fine. The original adapter supplied with the 12-inch PowerBook G4s are rated 45W, but they replaced it later down the road with the 65W adapter. (If you get it replaced with AppleCare via mail-in service, you get a 45W replacement part. Though at times, 65W part. If you get it replaced with AppleCare via the retail's Genius Bar, they give you a 65W brick. Also, the compatibility chart for the 65W shows it to work with all aluminum PowerBook G4s).

I'm not an electrical expert so someone may be able to corroborate my words above, but in better terms. For instance, the reason why the 65W works with the 12-inch PowerBook is that even though it supplies more power, the 12-inch can only receive 45W. On the 15-inch and 17-inch models, it needs 65W, so using a 45W "strains" the AC adapter because it is trying to draw more "power" (the 65W) it needs from a weaker plug. Thus the buzzing noise.
Like I said, someone else can explain that better, if it doesn't make sense. =)

  • Ground loop with TV when power adapter connected

I have a white Macbook (non-unibody) which I have connected to my TV with a mini-dvi to VGA adapter. I have done the same in the past with my Dell 1525 with no issues. When the Macbook is connected to the display whilst being connected with the power adapter, the screen has interference. After some googling I believe this is because of a ground loop. The monitor displays fine when the power adapter is removed.
Since I am using some processor-intensive applications my battery life doesn't last long, and it is incredibly inconvenient to have to keep plugging the adapter in and out.
Any suggestions on a cable to remove the ground feed or other solutions? I have already tried resetting the PRAM.

You might need an electrician to check or replace the electrical outlet or wiring, if it really is a ground loop. Try temporarily plugging the TV and Mac into the same surge strip. If the interference goes away, then the fault is likely in the outlet(s) that the Mac and TV are plugged in to. (The surge strip puts both devices on the "same outlet" thus eliminating the ground loop between outlets in your home wiring. Of course, a bad or old surge strip could cause a ground loop as well so if you're already using a surge strip, try another surge strip in case the ground loop is in the strip.)
Why don't you see it on the Dell? Likely because the Dell's power adapter has a transformer in it, which serves to isolate the electrical circuits between the devices. TVs and desktop computers often do not have this type of "isolation" transformer anymore, so ground loop interference can be more noticable. BTW, they do sell isolation transformers, but they're mostly for TV technician troubleshooting and not designed for continuous use. One that can handle a TV's electrical load can cost more than an electrician, so don't bother. You might be able to find a smaller, lower cost one to handle the Mac, but it still would mean a issue with the electrical wiring that may get worse over time. So IMO, better to spend the money on a electrician.

Update to IOS 6.1.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet when using home Wifi and verifing connectivity by using Safari to surf net and viewing wifi setting. Do setting need to be adjusted?

This is what worked for me: Double tap your home button to bring up the programs running in the back ground, press and hold so they show the red close option and close all programs.  After that shut your iphone down and power back on.  Immediately go to General>Software Update and it should work.  Good Luck

  • My iPad 1 now crashes the PC when it is connected to sync?

My iPad 1 has been going fine but has now started to crash the PC when I connect to to sync. I am runing Windows XP. I have cleared space on the hard drive and reset the iPad but no still no good. Any ideas?

    Hello Natashasophie,
It sounds like the iPad was restored, if the information was removed in the process. If the iPad was restored from iTunes or iCloud 2 times and the issue persists, then I would recommend resetting the device with this process.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

i use firefox as my internet browser. when i go to itunes to download music it says i am not connected to the internet when actualy i am. what am i doing wrong?

Firefox is a web browser not a homepage.
It sounds like you you have the old www.google.com/firefox/ start page that used to be the default homepage in Firefox before Firefox 4.0 sometime. It is not being maintained by Google anymore so either ignore the message or while in Firefox go to Tools->Options->General->Homepage section and change your homepage.
