Slight macbook pro wobble

Hi guys,
I got a new MacBook Pro Retina 13" earlier this week and today noticed a very slight wobble on the left hand side of the machine.
It's only noticeable when I put my wrist on the left hand side to type. That isn't regularly, I tend to touch-type so it's not *that* big of an issue, but it is slightly irritating as it doesn't seem to sit properly all of the time.
If I move my laptop around my desk - which is wooden - the problem seems to drift in and out. I'm not overly bothered as it's not a software issue and isn't going to stop me working, but I just wanted to know if it was a common issue.
I'm guessing it's to do with surfaces but any replies would be greatly appreciated - that's what the support community is for, I suppose!
Thanks a lot.

So just to give an update, not only was there my wobble issue, but there was a dead pixel right in the middle of my screen. Needless to say, i went straight back to the Apple Store and they did an exchange for me, no problem at all. Finding parking during Christmas time is impossible so I opened it right there to make sure there wasn't going to be another surprise when I got home. (ie. wobble, loose battery cover, dust behind screen, etc).
My MBP is now perfect.

  • Macbook Pro Wobbles Please Help

My 2-Month-old MacBook Pro wobbles when I type, meaning if I put any pressure on the right palm rest, the left rear side lifts up. I would take it to the apple store but the corner of the screen lid has a dent. What should I do? I just spent a lot of money to be having problems that could case long-term damage.
    Thanks Kyler

Regardless of personal dents and scratches, it's still under warranty. You should take it into an Apple Store to fix the wobble.

  • Where do you go to fix a macbook pro wobbly screen?

  • Macbook Pro Wobbly Screen

What can I do about my wobbly screen on my 2011 model Macbook Pro.

You should take it in to an Apple Genius bar (make an appointment), you may have a hinge issue.
If you have AppleCare it should be covered. If not, the diagnosis is free, and they will then give you pricing/options.

  • Macbook Pro Wobbling...is it normal?

    Hi everyone,
I bought the new macbook pro about a month ago. I am noticing that the notebook wobbles when I try to use it. When I place the Macbook Pro on a flat surface, only 3 of the rubber feet makes contact with the surface (two rubber feet at the rear and the rubber feet near where I rest my left hand). It is getting bothersome as whenever i rest my hand, or lift my hand away, the screen wobbles.
Is this something that apple will fix? or is this one of those...get use to it condition?
    Thanks

Take it in to a local Apple service center. Perhaps your missing one of the rubber feet or one of them is damaged. It should be covered, but they will have to make that determination.

  • 13" MacBook Pro wobbles on flat surfaces

I've had my new 13" MacBook Pro for not even a week and I've noticed that the base of my laptop wobbles on flat surfaces. Whenever I place my left palm on it to type, the top right (power button) lifts up. When I close my laptop, again, the top right (power button) lifts up and down.
Do I need a new bottom base? Or are the rubber corners need to be replaced?
What should I do to get this fixed?
PS: All the rubber corners are still intact.

Understood, if you exchange it for another macbook, total time including installing all software would be around 8 hours or so.
If a repair (as meant replacement) of the bottom cover, likely 2-3 turnaround time, possibly less.
Make an appt. to find out your options with the Apple store regarding this.

  • New 13inch Macbook Pro wobbly on surfaces

Ok I bought a 13inch Macbook Pro last Monday the 19th. In the few days I've had it I've noticed that it won't sit right on flat surfaces. When closed, its the back right corner that feels like its raised. When opened it feels like its the front left corner. I know I need to go the apple store but for me thats a pretty long drive. Anyone have any experience with this? Is this something where they will just replace it with a new one or are they gonna want to ship this off?

I do not know what Apple will do. Regardless of Apple's action, you need to get the computer to them. Your choices are to visit the Apple store, or call Apple and have them send you a box.

  • Macbook Pro wobble

Just picked up my new MBP today. Have any of you ever experienced a slight wobble when placed on a flat surface. All 4 rubber feet are there. I corrected the problem by putting it over my knee and sort of pushing over the corners to try and "straighten" it out. It seems to have done the trick as it doesn't wobble anymore. My Dell XPS m1330 did the same thing. Something tells aluminum bodies tend to have this problem.
    Anyone else experience this?

When I press slightly on either side of my macbook pro august 2011 trackpad or if I click the trackpad, I hear a light tick noise, sounds kinda like metal.  Anyone else have this problem? What is it?

It's a spring-loaded grounding contact between the top case/chassis and the bottom pan of the machine. When you press, it scratches against the inside of the bottom pan and makes the sound. It's completely harmless and doesn't indicate that anything is wrong, but it can be slightly annoying. A visit to a Genius Bar may result in quieting it partially or completely.

  • Is it normal for the retina macbook pro screen to wobble?

I have a retina macbook pro 13inch 2014 version. Whenever i play the laptop on a flat surface for the first time it wobbles a bit. Is it normal for the screen to wobble a bit while placing it on a flat surface? After that initial wobble there is no wobble.

No, that is not normal. There could be some problem with the screen.
As it is still under warranty, why not go to an Apple Shop and ask them about the problem?

  • My ethernet cord won't stay in because of a slight dent on my macbook pro- will applecare cover this?

my macbook pro has a slight dent near the ethernet cord plug and it changed the shape of the hole so that the cord wont stay in. will applecare fix this for me?

There's a pretty narrow margin between the plug fitting in the port properly, fitting loosely, and not fitting at all (meaning the opening is too small).  Someone "might" be able to get the shape just right for you, but it'd be a fairly difficult task.  While the aluminum does bend somewhat, it isn't all "that" flexible.  It's possible that someone could break a chunk right off if they need to bend it more than just a slight amount or if they need to move it back and forth a bit to get it just right.  The problem I see is that the connector should be snapping into the "port", not the frame.  It sounds like your port itself may be damaged.

  • Wobbly keys on 13" Retina MacBook Pro (2014)?

    Hi there!
Is there anyone out there who bought himself a 13" Retina MacBook Pro in the last two months and who is experiencing the same problem with the keyboard like I do?
I feel that nearly every key on my device is very wobbly (see here http://youtu.be/2Rz4XCkl3Wc). I checked every exhibited MacBook (all produced in July 2014) in our local Apple Store this morning and those keys felt extremely strong compared to mine. I asked a Genius and Technician about it but they declined that Apple changed anything on the keyboards.
Now I am wondering: is this normal? Are you experiencing the same?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi!
I haven't decided yet. Thing is I got from work via our official computer distributor and I really don't know if they would replace it because of "wobbly keys"
And Apple won't replace it, because I haven't bought it directly from Apple... It would be helpful if this was a widespread problem so that I could point our distributor to an e.g. article about this problem...

  • Screen MacBook Pro Early 2011 15" wobbly

    Hello everyone,
The screen of my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2011) is a bit 'wobbly' (I don't know if it's the right word). When I move my Mac a bit or even when I type on the keyboard the screen oscillates.
I don't know if I should try to screw down the hinges more or bring it to an Apple Store.
Does it happen to anyone ? Do you have any advices for me ?
    Thank you.
    Hugo

I tried to do it myself thanks to the Ifixit guides, but I don't have those "pentalobs" screwdrivers. Do you think that my Mac coul be repared in an Apple Sotre ?
    Thank you.
