Slightly OT - installing new instruments on NI Kontakt (v. EXS 24!)

I am painfully trying to get my head around NI Kontakt. Now, I have some freeby and some paid for new instruments (+ associated samples) - how do I get them into Kontakt? (it was easy on EXS24, just drag the .exs files into the relevant folder, put the samples anywhere and off you go).
Also, on a related note, how can I reorganise the instruments to my liking (i.e. not use the various categories etc. that NI defaults to)? Again with EXS24 it is easy - just rearrange the files in Finder as much as you like.

Thanks for the swift response - a few follow up questions if I may (sorry to come across as such a newbie but I am finding the NI stuff very user-unfriendly after the various Logic soft synths):
You should first build your Database in Kontakt's standalone mode
i.e. not as a plug-in? I'll do what you suggest but intrigued as to the difference!
All the Kontakt patches live where you initally installed them when installing Kontakt and it's Library, there is no "default"-location for that.
Ah OK - I just went along with whatever the installer did...but if I want to change them around now? Can I do that?

Instruments in Logic Pro 9 Library will not load: I try to add a new instrument on a project and get a "cannot be found" error.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As a faculty member in the School of Music, I have just acquired a copy of Logic Pro 9.1.8 through my University. The programs and instrument packs were installed by our IT department and show as being fully installed on Logic Pro when I search for additional content through the Logic Pro tab at the top of the screen. The window shows that all 6 Jam Packs, Logic Pro & Main Stage Content (Essential and Additional) GarageBand content, and Surround content is installed. However when I try and add a new instrument on a project, most of these instruments cannot be found. I get the following error:
Audio file “KB_pizz_f_C1.wav” not found!
I then press the Continue Tab, and it looks for the instruments in an empty file that Logic creates in the Music section of the hard drive. I have investigated the sounds by going through the MAC Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Logic>Sampler Instruments folder, and tried to copy the sounds into the Music>Logic folder created by the program. That does not work either. Even attempting to go into these Logic Pro instrument files one at a time has proved fruitless. I am told that the file cannot be opened.
The files appear to be installed, but cannot be accessed or opened. They all have that translucent grey appearance when I attempt to click on the icon. This is true for about 80% of the files in the instrumental library. Whenever I create an instrument, the EVP88 Electric Piano is installed by default. There are a few instruments that I can successfully replace this default instrument with, but a majority of the instrumental library remains unavailable. Can anyone help?

You might try a different way of adding the video files to the web page. This demo page has one where the file does not load until the play button is selected: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 9 short videos on it using that method: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Just add a screenshot of one of the movie frames or any photo you want and add the Play button on or below it.
You manually upload the movie file to your server so iWeb is not involved in the uploading the file at any time.
Similarly this demo page, QT movies via iFrame, has a method that has you manually uploading the file to the server and linking to it via iFrame code. That page also has other similar methods.
Another method is demonstrated in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site on his Video page. Here you also upload manually.

hey, I have started to explore garageband and the new instruments you can download for it. I have been trying to download new synths and stuff, but when I try opening the file after installing, the file opens in DVD Studio Pro. Anybody know what I should do?

Don't download the stuff but do a custom install from your DVD!

Support needed to install komplete instrument in logic pro x

I recently bought logic pro x. I also bought komplete 10 ultimate and komplete instrument s61. As expected both these are getting detected by the audio unit manager and it's also showing as compatible. But when I try to install komplete instrument in logic pro as per the directions given by native instruments support page, I cannot find the komplete instrument option in the menu under the au instrument option in the channel strip. Any help is welcome. Thank you

There is no Komplete Instrument under the AU Instruments section..
Instead.. in the AU Instrument section... Look under Native Instruments and each part of Komplete, like Kontakt for example, will show up there...
This is assuming you have run NI's Service Center once to register and authorize the plugins
Now for the Komplete S61 Instrument which is a hardware Midi controller.... you need to setup things in OS X's Audio/Midi Utility as per NI's instructions for that device...
Then it's plugin should show up under the Native Instruments entry under AU Instruments...

Record button dissappeared after installing New Bose Monitors

I just Installed New Bose Companion 5 Monitors...these connect via USB. They work fine with all the computer audio, but when I went to Logic, no audio, at first. Made a quick switch in the Audio Setups, got a window saying not compatible with sample rate of 44.1, clicked OK. Record button in the Edit Window dissappeared. It looks to be in MIDI now, The record button in the transport is still present but seems to be looking for digital input? I'm just trying to record simple Voice Tracks thru a Mic thru PreSonus Firebox.

Incorrectly, or not at all, setting up the environment will cause you to hear that C-2 (which could be mapped to a particular drum sound if that's the instrument you have loaded).
I have noticed that deleting one of the controllers in setup gets rid of the C-2, until you restart (don't remember if you have to restart Logic, Automap, or both).
Automap 3.7 gets rid of the note-off thing, but breaks the tap tempo feature. I rolled back to 3.4 for this reason and have learned to ignore the note off message (if you have it set up correctly the only side effect is a flashing "note off" message in the transport).
Don't remember if I started using ver2 or early v3, but I do remember not thinking it was very good. It's gotten a little better over the updates. If you can try updating to 3.4 and follow the instructions to a tee.

Can't install Garageband Instruments and Apple Loops 1.0 on OS Mavericks

Today I decided to download (one more time) the Garageband Instruments update and I waited for like 5 hours+ and when it was almost finishing the download it appeared that I was already installed. So I went to Garageband to check out the new instruments and nothing was there, it was just like before the update and when I click on a new instrument to try it out, this message appears just like before download this:
And when I go to the Mac App Store to download it again this is what I get:
And after clicking the Update and/or the Update All button, it turns gray and says it is installed, it doesn't load or anything, I just click and then appears just like in the image below:
My MacBook Pro is currently running the latest version of OS Mavericks and the latest Garageband ver. which is 6.0.5. I really need to use those new Instruments and can't figure out how to fix this... Thanks in advance to whoever helps me.
Side note: I already tried restarting/turning it on and off and it didn't work

I'm sorry but I can't find any button written 'Accept' on that page. On the Garageband app it is written Installed in gray just like on the Mac App Store. See the screenshot below if you could:

GB won't see new instruments

Hi guys,
I'm sure this on is simple however it's got me stumped - I've followed forum leads however I still have the problem.
I've got new instruments and fx, I think I've installed them in the right folders in the library, sound/banks for instruments and components for fx.
I am able to use the fx however when I select a software instrument and go into Edit, Sound Generator, my new instruments are not there.
Can someone please help with this?I might be doing something basic wrong, I must have missed something!

I have the same problem with EXS24 instruments, either just copied to Library/Application Support/Garageband/Instrument Library or using an installer.
Need my Boldt stuff!

When I create a new instrument it defaults to the EVP88 Electric Piano

Why is it everytime I start a new project and create a software instrument, or I add a new instrument to an existing song, it defauls to the EVP88 Electic Piano? It started doing this after I plugged in a USB controller keyboard so I would have to try and play keyboard parts on my iMacs keyboard. I called Applecare but my support for Logic has run out (I didn't use my Logic for a long time after installing it, logn story) so they wanted me to purchase a really expensive support package but I'm not a professinal just a regualr guy. The tech told me that it always defaults to EVP88 when yu create a new trick, bu I don't remember it doin that when I first statred. Please someone help me with this!!!

I have a curve 3G 9300 from T-mobile UK, there is no Arabic language support as input language. I would like to ask if I can install new Software (downloaded from middle east provider (Software multilanguage) which supports Arabic language) on my device?

You have the option when reloading the OS (software) of the languages you load. Infact its one of the choices providing you choose a multilanguage version of the OS.
Before doing anything else, have a look here at the official OS downloads. It would be advisable in my view ti download and then install the UK T-Mobile multilanguage OS and unless anyone can advise specifically, that means loading it and then seeing if exactly what you want is presented in the reload process.
This is how I installed mine, it contains the links you need
In the guides it says to do a backup. Do this if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software

and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS

and save it to computer.

Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1. Connect your device to your computer.

* To view other available versions of the BlackBerry Device Software, click View other versions. If applicable, click another version. Click Install.
Ensure the new OS is the one you prevously downloaded.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

Logic 8 not seeing new instruments

I'm beginning to think that Logic didn't install correctly on my Mac. When I first installed it, I didn't have a ton of space, so I installed what I needed at minimum. Then later I got a bigger drive, moved it, installed more instruments, and everything seemed fine. However, I noticed that when I make a new track for a software instrument, the folder labeled 06 Pop Strings has completely different instruments than that on my drive in the logic support folder. Similarly, if I add any new exs. files to the sampler instruments folder, Logic doesn't see those at all.
Should I uninstall Logic (latest version of Logic 8 ) and reinstall?

Error 8062 when I try to copy or move files on my macbook: "This operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8062)". Can even not install new software now!!

Since a few days when I try to copy or move files on my macbook, I often get an error message saying "This operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code -8062)". And then it just quits the copy or move.
I searched a lot on the internet, but only found solutions for cases you cannot empty the trash due to this issue.
I tried those solutions for my trash and that helped after some trying.
However, I still have the problem with copying and moving files.
I even cannot install new software now, as it has to copy itself to the programs-directory, and gives the same error-message.
Who can help me??

My user-account is administrator, I use a 13" Macbook Aluminium (Late 2008). Mac OS X 10.6.8 CPU 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, RAM: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

Tips I received so far (thanks to A-Mac via Twitter http://www.a-mac.nl and Remco Kalf http://www.remcokalf.nl/)
- make sure you have at least 10% of your harddisk in free space (I had only 5%).
- do a PRAM-reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
- perform a hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
- make a complete backup (with for example Carbone Clone Copier, see http://www.bombich.com/)
- after complete backup: use diskwarrior (boot from Diskwarrior DVD, first perform diagnostics, then perform "Rebuild" which rebuilds your file directory).
So far I only cleared up some space on my HD, and already the problem occurs less.
Still, I will go through the other tips too.

So I updated the itunes and now it won't open it, it states a message "the itunes library.itl" cannot be open because it was created by a newer version of itunes, I have unistalled and re-installed newer and older version and still i get this message.

I am running Firefox 19.0.2 installed yesterday on a new desktop PC at the office. (Old PC failed to boot on Monday.) I have completed most of my customization without difficulty. However, when I try to install new search engines, it doesn't seem to matter which one, I get a pop-up error message:
