Slip or slide assets in timeline less than 1 frame increments?

Hello everybody,
I'm using Premiere pro CS4 to try to do videos, I'm noticing that the audio and video are drifting apart.  As I try to line up the audio with the video, I'm noticing that files in the timeline seem to be lined up with a 1 frame grid.  Unfortunately, at times I need to slide audio a half of a frame to exactly line up everything.  If anyone has any advice I'd love to have it.  Thank You very much for taking the time to help.
-Jonathon

You can change the audio display from frames to audio units to move / edit audio at much smaller increments than frame.
Use flyout menu on timeline to enable "Show audio time units"

    You should then find this:
You can then set up your preferred shortcut key.

  • Is there a way to slide a clip less than one frame?

Hi, When syncing audio to video, or lining up two different sources of the same audio, I sometimes find that I want to slide a clip less than one frame in the timeline. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks, Bob

You can slip the audio in sub-frame increments, but you cannot slip video as the frame is the basic unit.
To slip the audio in increments less than a frame, see:

Hello Fox! Had to come to this page again when trying to know how to move the playhead in smaller increments. Did it and found that this method allows you to place the playhead at 80 locations of the frame! What a fine tuned editing shortcut!
If you let me know where this information related to shortcuts is available, it would be great.Thanks. Have agreat day!

Please confirm that it is currently IMPOSSIBLE to edit audio or video in Premiere Pro 5.5 to measurements LESS THAN 1 frame.
It appears in versions prior to CS5.0 one could select AUDIO UNITS by right clicking timecode display to edit audio (and presumably
video for that matter) to SAMPLE RATE accuracy.
Despite a long and involved support phone call including taking control of our computer by remote, it appears this is NOT currently
    possible.
If this is indeed so - we will have to adjust our work flow to edit audio OUTSIDE of Premiere.
    Thank you...please confirm and advise.

    Thank you for your input.
YES - I've seen the "right click Time Code display and switch to audio units timeline solution - yet audio units do NOT appear as an option for me...hence all of this drama.
ADOBE - do I have a munged install?  Any other advice?  We keep a clean system (Mac Pro 10.6.11 or whatever is last iteration of SL).  I guess I could try installing into a new User and see if it behaves any differently.
Sigh...we bailed on FCP7 after trying FCPX and also passed on going to Avid MC.  Hope PP is reliable for our work flow...again thx for all help.

  • Shift audio by less than one frame?

    Greetings!
Newbie to FCP. I have Standard DV tapes of concerts, very long clips (from 20 minutes to more than one hour), and I want to replace the audio with wonderful 24/96 carefully recorded audio done in Logic Pro. I have been able to sync the audio to video in FCP, but only to within one frame (when I drag the audio, it moves at one-frame jumps). I can sync much more closely in Logic, but how do I get the video with new sync'ed audio back into the FCP timeline? And would this degrade the video as I go round-trip from FCP to Logic?
Is there any way I can move audio tracks in FCP by less than one frame?
If not, can anyone suggest the best workflow to accomplish this?
    Thanks to all in advance!

  • How can I move clips in my project more accurately? i.e. Less than one frame over left or right?

    Hi there
I'm trying to sync some video to some audio. I have snapping turned off, yet I cant move a frame left or right any less than one frame.
Is it not possible to move a frame anyless than one frame left or right? It still SNAPS to one frame left or one frame right.

As Jon has told you, you CAN NOT adjust video in less than a 1 frame increment.  And I honestly doubt that even if you could, that you'd see the difference in the audio synch.  In the good old days of film editing, it was only possible to adjust the audio synch for 35mm within a 1/4 of a frame (as each frame has 4 perforations) and 16mm within a frame (as each frame has 1 perf).
The only way to avoid this problem (if it is a problem) is to genlock the cameras so the timing of each frame matches from camera to camera.

  • Freeze of clip at less than full frame

Is there an easy way to create a freeze of video clip that is smaller than full frame?
Using the traditional freeze frame function freezes the entire frame. We want to freeze only a clip that has been resized to 40% of the screen size.
The obvious answer is to freeze the clip when its at 100% and re-size to the same amount. The clip is 16 x 9 being cut into a 4 x 3 show, so freeze of the clip at 100% does not capture all of the clip. When resized it does not match the proportions of the the video clip.
    Any thoughts? Thanks

Easier way is to execute the report S_ALR_87011963, download the data into excel and filter less than 5 or 10 percent value assets thru a formula.
Another option available is to use an additional field for computing NBV and call that field in the query.

  • Play slide for less than 1 second

Is it possible to play a slide for less than 1 second in iPhoto?

    No.
You'll need a Video Editor like iMovie or Final Cut for that.

  • Slide Duration in Timeline

I am not able to change my slide duration in the timeline of Cativate 5 as I could with other versions. I can see the move arrow and it will move the duration forward but not back. Thanks for any help ASAP.
    Cher

Check all the objects on your slide that go right to the end of the slide.  One or more of them are probably Timed for a specific number of seconds which will turn out to be the same as the current duration of the slide.  Until you change their duration, you won't be able to get your slide duration less than what they currently are.
If you select the objects that currently go to the end of slide and hit Ctrl + E keystroke combination, they will all be set to Display for Rest of Slide.  Then you should be able to drag the slide duration at will.

    > Timeline Document development using actionscript 2.0
I'm interested in this, too. (Thanks for bringing up the
    topic!) My
guess, however, is that you won't see a flood of feedback.
    The timeline
metaphor is deeply engrained in the Flash developer mindset.
    Building a
slide presentation-based movie (the relatively new "screens
    feature") just
doesn't feel like working in Flash. I don't think many people
    use
screens -- though maybe it's too early to tell. I could be
    completely off
base, of course, and I welcome friendly dissenters.
I think Macromedia was hoping to appeal to the Visual Studio
    crowd with
screens. I'm curious to see how Adobe continues the idea. In
    any case, at
present, there's a kind of ActionScript mini-framework that
    gets added to
screens-based SWFs. This framework is what allows screens to
    behave like
screens rather than timelines. It is important to realize,
    however, that
all SWFs are, in the end, SWFs. The screens metaphor is no
    more "real" than
the timeline metaphor is. Both are just user interfaces to
    translate our
human instructions into something the Flash Player can
    understand.
I don't much care for the fact that this framework adds 27KB
    to a SWF
before anything else is even added. Start a new Slideshow
    Presentation and
immediately test the SWF (Control > Test Movie). In the
    resulting Flash
Player window, select View > Bandwidth Profiler to see how
    much the SWF
weighs. Do the same with a normal Flash document and compare
    the two.
To answer your specific bullet points:
    - Stability
I have no opinion here, I'm afraid. I simply haven't
    produced enough
screens-based SWFs to make a fair assessment.
    - Range
Not sure what you mean, here. Are you asking if
    screens-based SWFs can
    be bigger, hold more content?
    - Limitations
The end result in either case is a SWF, and a SWF is what it
    is.
    - Preference
I prefer the timeline metaphor because I've been using it
    since Flash 3.
I use Flash for everything from applications to cartoons to
    video, so in my
    workflow, timelines makes more sense.
    - Experience
Very little experience with screens (because I don't care
    for them).
Plenty of experience with Flash in general.
    - Pros
I would imagine -- and I can only imagine -- that some
    people prefer the
"slides" format. To me, it feels like PowerPoint, which I
    don't much care
    for.
    - Cons
The aforementioned extra SWF weight. 27KB isn't a deal
    breaker, and
it's certainly less bulky than any of the v2 UI Components,
    but ehh. For
what that's worth, I think it's a con. My programming skills
    have matured
along with the phenomenal advances in ActionScript in recent
    years. I
crossed a milestone back in Flash MX, I think, where Flash's
    under-the-hood
mechanisms really started "clicking" with me. (To be sure,
    the learning
process never ever stops ... I'm *still* learning, and things
    are *still*
clicking for me, but I digress.) To me, the screens metaphor
    introduces a
new (in my opinion, unnecessary) layer of abstraction to a
    lean-but-powerful
environment I already know and love.
    - Accuracy
Not sure what you mean here.
    - Problems
I don't use screens often enough.
    - Errors
    Ditto.
    - Likes
This is reflected in my views on Pros and Cons.
    - Dislikes
    Ditto.
    - Load Balancing
Again, not sure what you mean.
    - Customization
    Good question!
    - Coding Development/Programming
None of the programming books I've read even touch screens.
    - Control
    Control of what?

  • How to make stills duration less than 00:00:00:01 ?

    Hi,
This may seem an odd request, but I have a sequence of several stills of a propeller blade on a model, sort of time lapse, move and photo etc, which when played together rotates the prop. They are currently set to 00:00:00:01 and play loop sees a very slow rotation. I thus need to make them even less than that duration. Is that possible and how is it done ? They currently form the project. R/click duration and altering 01 to 001 doesnt work, the last two numbers being frame number and 25fps is the project value.
Perhaps I need to make the project more than 25fps, so that 00:00:00:01 which means 1 frame I presume, will be seen as far less of a second than 1/25th ? How do I set project to a higher fps if this is the solution ?   Then would I save out or export the finished film as a 25fps clip to use elsewhere ?
I also found it silly that I had to right click on each stills clip in timelie and choose duration. I tried selecting all of them and r/click duration but duration was greyed out. If I had a lot there, surely there must be a way of making all their durations the same amount at once ?
I am unable to zoom the timeline to drag their size less.
    Envirographics

    Hi,
    Thanks for the sugestions.
I have not yet transferred a Sequence, I have created a second sequence and dragged it out as a floating window, then dragged a selection box across my stills and dragged them over to it, but no doubt this isnt the way to make them all a combined duration of say 1 frame. They still have separate properties. How is it done such that I can give them as you say one duration for the entire lot.
AE no doubt is After Effects. another purchase. Working on it !

  • SharePoint 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Packaging a solution - The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

    Hi,
I have a solution that used to contain one SharePoint 2010 project. The project is named along the following lines:
<Company>.<Product>.SharePoint - let's call it Project1 for future reference. It contains a number of features which have been named according
to their purpose, some are reasonably long and the paths fairly deep. As far as I am concerned we are using sensible namespaces and these reflect our company policy of "doing things properly".
I first encountered the following error message when packaging the aforementioned SharePoint project into a wsp:
"The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters."
I went through a great deal of pain in trying to rename the project, shorten feature names and namespaces etc... until I got it working. I then went about gradually
renaming everything until eventually I had what I started with, and it all worked. So I was none the wiser...not ideal, but I needed to get on and had tight delivery timelines.
Recently we wanted to add another SharePoint project so that we could move some of our core functinality out into a separate SharePoint solution - e.g. custom workflow
error logging. So we created another project in Visual Studio called:
    <Company>.<Product>.SharePoint.<Subsystem> - let's call it Project2 for future reference
And this is when the error has come back and bitten me! The scenario is now as follows:
    1. project1 packages and deploys successfully with long feature names and deep paths.
    2. project2 does not package and has no features in it at all. The project2 name is 13 characters longer than project1
I am convinced this is a bug with Visual Studio and/or the Package MSBuild target. Why? Let me explain my findings so far:
    1. By doing the following I can get project2 to package
In Visual Studio 2010 show all files of project2, delete the obj, bin, pkg, pkgobj folders.
    Clean the solution
    Shut down Visual Studio 2010
    Open Visual Studio 2010
    Rebuild the solution
    Package the project2
et voila the package is generated!
This demonstrates that the package error message is in fact inaccurate and that it can create the package, it just needs a little help, since Visual Studio seems to
no longer be hanging onto something.
Clearly this is fine for a small time project, but try doing this in an environment where we use Continuous Integration, Unit Testing and automatic deployment of SharePoint
solutions on a Build Server using automated builds.
    2. I have created another project3 which has a ludicrously long name, this packages fine and also has no features contained within it.
    3. I have looked at the length of the path under the pkg folder for project1 and it is large in comparison to the one that is generated for project2, that is when it
does successfully package using the method outlined in 1. above. This is strange since project1 packages and project2 does not.
    4. If I attempt to add project2 to my command line build using MSBuild then it fails to package and when I then open up Visual Studio and attempt to package project2
from the Visual Studio UI then it fails with the path too long error message, until I go through the steps outlined in 1. above to get it to package.
    5. DebugView shows nothing useful during the build and packaging of the project.
    6. The error seems to occur in
CreateSharePointProjectService target called at line 365 of
Microsoft.VisualStudio.SharePoint.targetsCurrently I am at a loss to work out why this is happening? My next task is to delete
project2 completely and recreate it and introduce it into my Visual Studio solution.
Microsoft, can you confirm whether this is a known issue and whether others have encountered this issue? Is it resolved in a hotfix?
Anybody else, can you confirm whether you have come up with a solution to this issue? When I mean a solution I mean one that does not mean that I have to rename my namespaces,
project etc... and is actually workable in a meaningful Visual Studio solution.

    Hi
Yes, I thought I had fixed this my moving my solution from the usual documents  to
    c:\v2010\projectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline
This builds ok, but when I come to package I get the lovely error:
Error 2 The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters. C:\VS2010\ProjectsOverflow\DetailedProjectTimeline\VisualDetailedProjectTimelineWebPart\Features\Feature1\Feature1.feature VisualDetailedProjectTimeline
Now, the error seems to be related to
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this. Probably some path in an XML file somewhere. Here is my prime suspect!
