Slooow internet and weird mouse problems?

I recently upgraded my iMac to Leopard (10.5.4) and started having weird mouse problems. At start up, mouse would be frozen in upper left corner. I'd restart, switch mice, restart, over and over. I use a Wacom tablet w cordless mouse plus Apples alum cordless keyboard. Eventually I tried switching USB ports for my Wacom tablet and the mouse was OK. I have learned that when this problem occurs, I need to shut down and unplug everything. That seems to solve it. Anyone know why? ALSO, ever since upgrading I have found the Internet to be appallingly slow. I have 2 GB memory and just upped my internet speed (supposedly) through Embarq.

hmm, what is a mouse usb or a keyboard usb?
arent all the usb ports same?
I really wish to show you how this happens it is really fun, but also annoying. especially when I am playing a game. it is interesting to watch the screen when suddenly all the world starts rotating when you are playing a first person shot'm up.

  • New iPhone 5 - internet and mail reception problems?

I just acquired a new iPhone 5. I have regular reception internet and mail reception problems. The internet on both Wifi and provider network drops out on a regular basis, although reception signals of both wifi and network are strong. When turning off the phone and restarting the internet comes back for a short while and loses connection again. Has somebody else experience similar difficiulties, If yes how can this be fixed.

  • Mobile Internet and Personal Hotspot problems

I have an iPhone 3GS with the latest updates.
Yesterday mobile internet has suddenly stopped working, giving me the 'iPhone is not connected to the internet' error anytime I tried to use Safari (nothing else involving a connection is working, really)
I didn't make any change that could have triggered this, I have an unlimited mobile internet plan and anyway I have enough money too.
I can see the 3G and Edge symbols and have a good service, APN is correct. I use only mobile internet, therefore the other connection options are always turned off.
I tried restarts, resets, both manual, with iTunes, only network settings, total formatting, restoring from backup, but I still have the problem.
Rarely it starts working, but only for some seconds, time to load a page and it stops working again.
Going through the network settings I then noticed 'Personal Hotspot' has the loading wheel that never stops spinning, like it was searching for something, I know I usually had an option to turn it on and off, anyway before that happened it was off.
I don't want to use a Personal Hotspot and want to keep it off but there's on option at all, I tried all the resets again, or staying on that setting page for a while, but it goes on spinning.
I don't know if the two things are connected, I was wondering if mobile internet and hotspot are someway conflicting with one another, if I can't connect because it keeps searching for the hotspot, or if there's any way to stop that 'loading status'?
Tried searching on other threads/Google already but I didn't find anything that would solve it

I tried with the Sim too and din't work either
I'm with Vodafone, I've seen other people having the same problem but it was due a wrong APN or else they got it fixed with a simple restart
Tried calling their CS too but I just got told to check my APN/config (it's everything fine) or try resetting network settings as I already did a few times

  • Broadband/internet and wireless connection problem...

Towards the end of 2101 I received an email informing me that BT would be upgrading my local line and I could expect a much improved service. Whether this 'upgrade' has been the cause of my problems or is merely coincidental I cannot say. Prior to my experience since this time I could count lost broadband in hours per year (I never had internet or wireless connection problems).
Since the end of 2010 I now regularly lose my broadband completely every six to eight weeks. 'Home Hub cannot connect to broadband.' There is a worsening loss of speed? over a period of two to four days at the end of which I need to phone BT three/four/five, etc. times until they manage to locate the problem and fix it. It is always some problem they find on the line or with their equipment.
I always mention that this is an ongoing problem. Never do they take any action to escalate the issue.
This week things have become considerably worse.
I have started to lose my internet connection now. 'Safari cannot connect to the internet'.
There are now two issues which arise concurrently.
I phoned BT, finally the operative in India (through a very poor BT wireless phone connection) changed the channel of my router for me. He mentioned something about changing the address and password. This seriously exacerbated the situation. My password is not recognised now when I am asked to reconnect by selecting a network.
The next occasion on which I lost my INTERNET connection and tried to reconnect I got the message 'Airport has the self-assigned IP address (...........) and is unable to connect to the internet.
I phoned BT to report this and was told that this indicated an adapter problem and the problem was now out of BT's hands. I Should contact Apple.
I did so. Apple said I should contact BT to change channels. I explained this had caused the problem and they were now refusing to assist me. Apple tried everything that they could think of to resolve the issue (despite not being required to do so). Eventually the only suggestion they could make as BT had refused to help was to reinstall my operating system. Extremely drastic. But I can now connect wirelessly again.
Service is still intermittent requiring constant restarts to regain connections.
BT's response to a formal complaint was more of the usual banal questions, the usual tests, the usual promises of 'something would be done'.
Their systems are not set up to make any sort of accurate diagnosis of customers' issues. They seem to have a set number of 'fixes' into which they try to fit all problems - one would assume simply to save costs - their cost saving exercises are now costing me money.
    That's all for starters.
    Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem, since BT "upgraded my broardband" my home hub looses internet connection at least twice a day and I have to power reset it. the broadband shows as connected but the internet connection is lost, if I try reconnecting it fails and only a power resetr will work. I have a temp solution by fitting a time switch to the mains adaptor and reseting it at 0200 each day. but before the upgrade the home hub had worked for years and no problems. i have also replaced the origonal home hub 1 with a home hub 2 to see if that improves the situation.

This subject has been marked as solved by the originator and you will get more response if you start your own subject rather than continue here.
if you start your own subject just cut and paste your post and then in order to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Do you have any phone extension sockets in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • KT7 Turbo V3 and USB mouse problem

Hello!  I'm hoping someone here can help me out with this problem.  I've looked thru numerous other threads here regarding USB problems, and I'm not certain if any of them apply to me.
KT7 Turbo V3 with lastest Live BIOS downloaded and flashed.
    Athlon 1GHz
    512MB RAM (2x256 Crucial)
    Windows 98SE
    300W PSU
    Nvidia Geforce2 MX
Logitech Cordless Optical USB mouse (2 button)
Anyway, in pursuing a problem discussed in another thread, I upgraded my BIOS and re-installed my operating system.  Actually, I've done both multiple times, including re-Fdisking and formatting.
Since then, whenever I make a BIOS change of any type, or change any drivers, etc., the mouse stops responding, and Windows gives a "No mouse detected error" upon booting. I fix this by going into Control Panel>System>Devices and deleting the Human Interface device, and then either Refresh or re-boot.
I'm afraid to even install the Logitech drivers anymore, because the last time I tried it, and had this problem, Windows wouldn't even boot after I deleted the mouse in Devices.
I never had a single problem with this mouse until I updated my BIOS.  Has anyone heard of this problem before?  I'm thinking about going back a few BIOS versions, but I also want to pop an Athlon 1600+ in my machine, so I was afraid I might need a newer version to support it.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
    - Rick

FYI for anyone else having this problem, going back to an old BIOS version seems to have fixed this.  Both v2.4 and 2.9 seem to work fine.

  • Weird mouse problem...

The computer that I will be speaking about is NOT the one listed below. it is a PowerBook G3 running OS 10.3.9
About every other time that I start up this mac, I see the log in window, and everything. i can log in using the keyboard only just fine, but the mouse is unresponsive. I haven't tried plugging in a mouse as a replacement, but I can reboot my computer and the mouse works fine.
i have no idea what could be triggering it, or what sort of rhyme or reason is behind this insanity, but I would like it to stop driving me crazy.
    Thanks in advance,
    Superd@ve

Maybe the built-in touch pad is defective and needs replaced.
Testing the computer with an external mouse could help to tell
if there is a different issue in the computer, to be sure.
Is the computer attached to several items running off its ports
at the times this touch-pad is acting up? If so, unplug them.
The touch pad supposedly uses an ADB connnection inside
to the logicboard; and in pre-USB computers, this could be
sharing power with an external ADB port.
If there are no peripheral items using port power on the old
PowerBook G3, then maybe something else (the touchpad)
    may be wearing out.
Have you looked into the system log files to see if there are
any indications of this hardware issue in them? The Console
may also have some error logs or files, in addition to the
    System Profiler's software> log files.
Does the touchpad appear and then disappear in the list of
hardware in the System Profiler? There could be a loose
wire or other simple defect behind this issue.
Which PowerBook G3 do you have? (There were several.)
I'm guessing that could be either the Lombard or Pismo.
These later models have USB port(s.) If yours has no USB
then it pre-dates that technology in the PowerBook and an
indication of such features show the vintage or age. And the
Pismo supports FireWire, & Tiger 10.4.11 with a DVD drive.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Weird mouse problem (clicks not being performed, -)

Recently I am suffering from a really weird problem.
The middle mouse button shows a really strange behaviour:
I'm using KDE from [extra], and middle clicking e.g. a link in a webbrowser (no matter which toolkit it uses) instead of opening one tab, opens the link in several tabs.
Also middle clicking on a tab, normally should close *one* tab, while here it often closes more than one tab. Since this happens in every application I use, no matter which toolkit is used, this cannot be a KDE/Qt problem, since e.g. Firefox is affected by it too. I also doubt that GTK is the cause of this problem…
[The middle clicking problem has been solved, by cleaning the mouse wheel]
    [The problem below, still persists]
Furthermore, sometimes my laptop looks like it enters a "state", where my clicks are not "performed" the normal way:
E.g. I had a media player running, when my laptop got into this "state". No matter where I clicked on this app, the clicking action was performed on the Play button. Using Alt+Tab to focus another window/bring it to the front, and clicking in this window anywhere again resulted in the Play button getting clicked.
After quitting the media player app (through a keyboard shortcut) my clicks still did not work normal. They still simply were not performed. In order to "re-gain" the ability to click, I had to log out first.
Since I've setup my Arch Linux not to automatically start X/KDM after logging out, I found myself in the terminal, where I ran startx, in order to run KDE.
The terminal still had some output of my X session, but it wasn't displayed with normal characters, but rather with some weird characters, looking all scrambled and stuff, as you can see on the screenshot. http://imagebin.org/100067
I currently use the packages from the testing repo, but IIRC this behaviour was there even before installing the testing repo packages.
    Extra information:
    kernel26 2.6.34-1
    xorg-server 1.8.1-1
    nvidia 195.36.24-2
    xf86-input-evdev 2.4.0-1
I run Arch Linux x86_64 on an Acer 5741G Laptop, with a NVidia Geforce GT 320M.
Interestingly, another user who suffers from the same bug is running a computer with intel graphics, so it probably is not the nvidia driver causing the problem either.
Originally the bug was reported as a rekonq bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=238987

    Hello,
I seem to suffer from the same problem. Sometimes (perhaps triggered by amarok, but I have to investigate this further before blaming this app) the left mouse button stops working. I can not perform left-klicks anymore. Everything is fine with the right button. If I log out and in again the mouse if fully back. In this loop X has not been restarted.
    My setup:
    KDE 4.4.5 (official packages)
    X: X.Org X Server 1.8.1.902 (1.8.2 RC 2)
    kernel: 2.6.34-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT
    architecture: x86_64
mouse: Logitech MX1000 Laser (Logitech, Inc. MX-1000 Cordless Mouse Receiver)
If s.o. will ever work in this I will be happy to provide any information I can come up with.
    Cheers and good night.

  • Freezing, glitches and weird graphics problems

My white iMac starting having weird praphics issues about year and a half ago. Nothing that was too much to deal with. Simply using expose always cleared it up and if it came back I would do the same. It seems to be getting worse. And then yesterday my iMac started getting super slow and pausing for no reason and then I got the black transparent window shade come from the top of my screen to the bottom and then a message telling me I needed to restart my computer.
After that seemed to work but I still had graphics problems screen flickering and things like this. Then freezes started happening. I reset my pram and novram with no luck. That didn't seem to help. I have 4g of memory so I know it's not that. What hardware could be causing this? Thanks

  • Wired and wireless mouse problems...

Hey, looking for someone who can help me with a mouse connection problem I'm having with my G4 powerbook. Originally I was using a bluetooth wireless mouse and it would seemingly loose its connection. Example, I'm surfing Safari and I go to click a link with my mouse and then the cursor disappears up into the left corner. I have to move it around a bit before it gets its connection back. To test this I put the computer with hot corners to start expose. I would be surfing and BAM expose is activated.
Ok potentially crappy mouse. I plug in my USB mighty mouse and BAM, it does the same thing. I still have apple care on the laptop, but the nearest apple store is an hour away so I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this annoying problem.
    Anyone...?

I have the same issue. Left and Right buttons are programed as "primary" and "secondary" respectively, but any action on the mouse activates the right button drop down menu. I changed out my wireless mouse to the wired mouse, rebooted and changed USB ports but not change. My keyboard is not typing either?
Looking forward to some GURU type insights here....?

  • K9N Neo-F and USB Mouse problem

    Hello,
Some people including me have noticed problem with USB Mouse when using MSI K9N Neo-F BIOS above 1.3.
Results are simple - when loading Windows, the system initiates USB devices, but when it goes to Windows mouse doesn't work.
There is only one solution to fix the problem, reconnect USB cable from mouse.
It seems to be a BIOS problem, but there have been many BIOSes during 2-3 months and now currently the newest one is 1.63 Beta, which still didn't fix the problem at all.
I contacted MSI, but they can't do anything.
According to my tests, if I change in BIOS S1 to S3, it runs fine until I won't shutdown computer and turn it on again.
I wonder if there's any solution. I'm really mad about it and probably will RMA my mobo or change it to some else.

  • Is there a problem with iPhone update server, I can't seem to update my IOS on my wife's 3GS iPhone, keep getting message that the server is not reachable, yet I am connected to internet and had no problem syncing the phone or downloading iTunes software

What's up with the iPhone update server. I have repeatedly tried in recent days to update the IOS software on my wife's 3GS iPhone but keep getting message that the iPhone update server cannot be contacted. The phone syncs normally and I am sure I am connected to the internet properly. Also I have successfully updated ITunes software during this same time frame.  What gives??

Try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 and look at this section.

  • Hp stream 8 and bluetooth mouse problems

    can anyone help me
I just bought an Hp stream 8 and a wireless mouse and keyboard. The keyboard works fine, but the mouse I bought off of ebay isnt wanting to pair. It worked the first day but then shut the mouse off for the night and turned it back on the next day and was being really glichy, and then finally it wont pair at all. Is it the mouse or my tablet. If its the mouse, what kind of mouse should i purchase that will work but isnt ungodly expensive?

I can't really make product recommendations as a tech agent, but I would assume any Bluetooth mouse should work fine. It's more likely a case of this specific mouse having issues.
You can check out www.hpshopping.com for Bluetooth mice, there's some pretty cheap ones there that should do the trick just fine, and are backed by HP support.

My iMac is not staying connected to the wireless internet.  My provider tells me it's a computer issue and not their problems.  Any suggestions?

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
    Reset the PRAM.
    Step 7
Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    Step 8
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
