Slow access in E900 N150 wireless router

Hi,
I bought a Ciso Linksys E900 N150 wireless router yesterday. I configured router succesfully with the help of Setup CD.
On my wired connection I am getting 10 Mbps speed.  Things are bad when connected via router. A wired-router connection or wireless connection via router is giving me hardly 100 kbps.
I tried setting my security to WAP2 Personal , WMM is disabled in Q0S. However my guess failed.
I am struggling with router at this moment. I am clue less on what may be wrong.
Please advice me.
Regards,
Sagar

Hi ,
I tried MTU increment by 10 from 1200 to 1492. This didnt help me.
Please help me.

Better check that MTU size. It would be best if you select the correct MTU size. Click the link below on how to determine the correct MTU size. Also, uncheck IPv6 in your computer adapter properties and see if that would help.

Here are some of the recommended setting from Apple.  Maybe that will help.

  • HT1731 Help installing Airport Express with Netgear N150 wireless router? I hav

    Hi,
I just purchased the newer Airport Express (new) and am having issues using it in client mode with my Netgear N150 wireless router. All I want to use it for is streaming itunes from my aluminum macbook to my home stereo system, wirelessly.
I have followed the instructions that came with the device. No luck. I have followed the instructions that describe plugging it into an ethernet cable here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1731
With the apple instructions linked above it would connect fine to my existing wireless network, using airport utility, with 'excellent' connection, but when I tried to switch in itunes to my device from my computer i get the pinning wheel and an 'unknown error' occurs.
I have setup a new wireless account and password on my router as desribed at this page, but do get confused when it tells me to use the hex key and $. Haven't worked that out yet. Any advice would be appreciated if this would help.
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20041017233832771
At best, after hard resetting the device several times, and following the instructions above at macworld, it now finds the device but only plays one blip second of a song, flashing amber from solid green, sometimes playing a second blip of a song, then pausing the song and switching to a flashing amber. By restarting my computer or opening AirPort utiliy I am able to find it again, but it either only plays one second of a song and drops again or turns green and is not able to be found at all by itunes (the button doesn't show up in the menu).
This is the second airport I have tried in 2 years. I purchased a used one and had nearly the exact same issues with a linksys router. Then it would play an album but reset if a song was paused.I had to hard reset it nearly every time i wanted to stream from itunes to my stereo. I assumed it was broken and sent it back. Figured I 'd give it a new go around with a new unit since i just moved into a new house and am now shocked at how difficult it is to set up. I have never had this many issues with an apple device.
    My questions:
    1) How can I set this up with my existing router? What am I doing wrong?! Why is it so difficult?
    2) If not possible, what routers are compatible? I would gladly get a new router in order to stream music to my stereo from ITunes.
thank you for any assistance. i am pulling my hair out.

Try temporarily disabling the Windows 7 firewall, and then, try accessing the AirPort with the AirPort Utility again.

  • My internet is slow when connected to the wireless router..how do I fix this?

I am having problems with my internet connection. I have a netgear wireless router that I purchased 2 years ago. My computer has been running off this connection and recently it has been extremely slow. So I plugged in the ethernet cord directly into the back of my computer and it runs fine. This would solve my problems, BUT I have other devices that I would like to run off the wireless connection, and I don't like going back and forth. SOmeone please HELP!

I had the same problem a few months ago, nobody knew what the reason for 100%.
Advised me to restart router, did not help.
Advised me to refresh settings in mac and the connection, did not help for long,  after two weeks it was the same.
Advised me to change router because mac should work with any router but prefer AirPort to work with.
This solved all the problems and even the connection work faster.
Before AirPort Extreme I had for 2 years belklin's router and for 2 years netgear, looks like 2 is the magic number for others.
Unless the mac is doing something special, but I do not believe it.

  • Linksys Wireless Router Slowing Down Internet

Hi, I currently have Optimum Online boost through cablevision. I noticed I wasn't getting speeds anywhere near what Optimum stated my plan includes so I called them up. After troubleshooting they asked me to connect the cable modem directly into my laptop(bypassing the router) and run a speed test and then do the same speed test when accessing internet over the wireless router. The results of this showed that the wireless router was significantly slowing down my internet connection. I currently have a Linksys WRT54G V6 with firmware: v1.00.7, Feb. 16, 2006. Anyone have any ideas what in the router is slowing me down. FYI I am very close to the wireless router(excellent connection) with no interference around(my laptop and a dekstop are the only thing connected to the router) and I have tested this on multiple laptops wirelessly and it all shows that something in the router is slowing this down. MAC Filtering is disabled and the encryption is WPA - Personal AES-CCMP. Thanks! Hope someone can help. ppc

  • AE setup for wireless router and streaming music

I'm attempting to setup my AE base station as a wireless router and use it to stream itunes through a home stereo. I'm using a new Dell Inspriron w/internal wireless card. It is detecting other wireless networks but not seeing the AE base station (which is flashing yellow even after resetting). Any input as to what I am missing?

    Hi.
I am accessing internet thru a wireless router, and it works great. Plugin AE (setup to run on the same network) and the internet gets so slow it ceases to function though I still have a valid IP. When AE is plugged in though, iTunes recognizes the speakers connected, but when I try to select them, it says 'connecting' and the program stops responding. Oh yeah, it's iTunes 5.
I've used my AE in hotels and shops where I've plugged it into an ethernet cable and the internet has worked automatically. I take it home and it stops. Try to play some music over it and it doesn't work either. What gives.
Anybody have any ideas? I'd love some help.
    thanks.

  • Mac vs PC interrupts on a wireless router

    Hi there,
I use a MacbookPro and my partner uses a Toshiba Satellite Pro and we share internet access through a Linksys wireless router.
The problem is that if I am using the internet when the Toshiba is turned on it knocks me off and vice versa. Sometimes the only way to sort it out is to restart the router. This is not a great problem but it is annoying. When I use WiFi hotspots I have no problems with many people using a variety of systems. Why does there seem to be a conflict between Mac and PC in my house? Have I just got a rubbish router?
Sometime I get a message that another computer is using the same address as mine, other times it just does not work.
    Bo

Typically, when only one computer can access the Internet through a router, the issue is one of the two following ones:
The router or the clients are not properly configured for DHCP service, or
The ISP does not allow more that one connection without paying for additional service from them to do so.
In most cases, it is the former item. I would suggest double-checking that the Linksys router's DHCP service is enabled and is providing a series of IP addresses in a range. If this range is limited to a single IP address, you would get this problem.
Also, check each computer. For the Mac, you can check by going to System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > TCP/IP tab > Configure IPv4: Using DHCP

  • I just set up an Optus Cisco DPQ3925 wireless router to access higher speed internet I signed up for. I have a 4th gen airport extreme I want to put in another room and use as a wifi extender the wifi but I get an error message each time I try. Help?

    Hello all.
I have just set up a new cisco DPQ3925 wireless router that Optus sent me to be able to access the higher speed internet I have signed up for.
I have a 4th gen apple extreme that I want to use to extend the wifi but when I try to update the settings via the airport utility I get a message that says it cannot do so, and to check it is in range and the wifi is set up correctly. I'm not experienced with these things but I can't think what I have done wrong.
Is anybody able to help me please.

You cannot use the AE to extend wireless from a non apple router such as your cisco modem router.. they are not compatible..
You need to tie to the two devices together either with ethernet or something like EOP adapters.. They are about $120 and you can price match in officeworks.

  • Trouble accessing the internet on a WRT54G wireless router

I’ve run into a problem setting up a wireless network at my friends’ house. The problem is accessing the internet from the wireless PC that has a WMP11 Wireless PCI Card to a WRT54G wireless router.
The wireless PC is running Windows XP and it sees and connects to the router with “excellent” signal strength but will not connect to the internet.
The router is currently set to WEP 128 bit encryption security. I’ve tried disabling the wireless security all together but when I do that the wireless PC no longer sees the router.
I have no trouble connection to the internet thru the wireless network I have set up at my house when I bring his computer there. But my router is an older Linksys 802.11b so maybe that’s why.
Anyone have any ideas what I should try other than telling him to buy a new wireless G adapter card?

If earlier your Wireless Adapter is working fine with the same network & computer .... try upgrading the drivers of the aqdapter .... from http://linksys.com/download  .... uninstall the older drivers & reinstall newer drivers ....

  • What info do I need to enter to access my home wireless router when setting up my new IPad?

While setting up my new IPad I keep having trouble connecting to my home wireless router.  It keeps telling me to pick a wi-fi network from the list it gives me of ones that are available.  I choose my home wi-fi network that is password protected and it places a check mark next to the name.  From that point it does nothing.  It says "connecting to network" and the circle icon appears and seems to be searching for the connection but nothing ever happens.  The lock symbol remains next to my wireless network name and I can't seem to continue with my IPad set-up.  My router (Belkin) has a card where I recorded the information from its set-up and it has a SSID, a password and a network name.  These description don't seem to correspond with the descriptions that my IPad is asking me for and I haven't been able to go further.  PLEASE HELP!!

Connect to a router via web browser from another device, open "settings" -> "wireless"( sequence and title of menu depending on model and manufacturer of your router) and try to change wireless mode to 802.11N or if this mode not accessable, to 802.11g mode only. Save this settings( router will reboot) and connect Ipad2.

  • Access a NetFlix account with Samsung TV, Samsung home theatre system w/netgear wireless router

I just want to know what is required to wirelessly access a NetFlix account using my Samsung TV & Samsung home (DVD) theatre system with a Netgear wireless router.

Like previous poster mentioned,  for the Netflix app itself, either use built in NetApp on your tv or get it via Bluray player that has that NetApp .As for connectivity, you'll need to either get an Access Point or the proprietary Wireless LAN Adapter from Samsung. I've got both and I would recommend the AP for multiple port capablity ( more than one Ethernet jack ).

  • Setting wireless router as an access point

I'm trying to set up a wireless router as an access point for a wired router. The wired portion of the network is fine and the internet connection is working.  The laptop sees the wireless router and can log in to it.  However, the wireless router does not receive an internet connection and cannot "see" the wired portion of the network. I cannot log into the wireless router from one of the wired computers.
Below are the settings I'm using:
    Wired router--Linksys BEFSR41v3
     Obtain ID Automatically
     192.168.0.1
     255.255.255.0
     Local DHCP enabled
     Start # 192.168.0.100
     RIP Disabled
     UPnP off
    Wirless router--Linksys WRT54GS
     Automatic Conifguration DHCP
     192.168.0.2
     255.255.255.0
     DHCP Server off
     Firewall/NAT off
     UPnP off
Set to Router function (rather than Gateway)
I have had to set the laptop to a static IP, since it keeps revereting to a default IP.  It is set to 192.168.0.102, 255.255.255.0, Gateway=192.168.0.1, DNS=192.168.0.1
    Any suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As you have Disabled the DHCP Server on the Router and the Changed the IP on the Router to 192.168.0.2. the only thing remaining is the Connection part that is you need the Connect the BEFSR41 router from the Number one port to the Number one of WRT54GS that should Work. Please remove the Static IP Address from the Computers.

  • Roaming between RV220W wireless router and WAP121 Access Point

Hello, I have recently purchased a RV220W wireless router and a WAP121 access point and i would like to allow my users to "roam" between the two networks as needed (so when the user is closer to whichever one they connect to that one since it has a better signal). For the most part I only have experience in cisco IOS and in actual routers not the wireless stuff so my knowledge has not exactly transfered over well.

    William,
WDS will not work between the RV220W and WAP121 due to incompatible chipsets. The RV220W can be repeated using WDS by another RV220W or RV180W only. You will need to plug the WAP121 into the RV220W or try WorkGroup Bridge mode to repeat the signal.
Regarding roaming, the router or AP are not aware of each other and do not have the capability to disconnect a client and help them connect to the AP with the stronger signal. The client will switch to the stronger AP only when the original signal is lost.
The Aironet (enterprise) devices have the ability to utilize a wireless LAN controller which can help keep devices connected to the stronger signal and allow truly seamless roaming between APs.

  • DSL Connection Very slow ONLY when using wireless router

My DSL connection was running super slow (approx 136 Kbs) - I disconnected the Linksys wireless router and plugged by DSL modem directly into the computer.  Then my internet speed increased to 1.4 Mbs (a 10 fold increase).
Any suggestions on how / why my speed drops so extensively when using the Linksys wireless routher (wrt45g).
    Thanks

Are you using the same test each time to measure the speed?
The reason I ask is that Windows usually reports its download speed in KB/sec (Kilobytes per second).  But most web (internet) speed tests report their speed in Mbps (Megabits per second.)
A 1.4 Mbps line will typically pass data at about 140KB/sec.
To help determine what kind of problem you are having, do the same speed test in 3 different ways:
    1)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your modem
    2)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
    3)  Connect one computer, wirelessly, to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
Report back your results, and also, please state what line speed you are paying for.  Once we have this, we will hopefully be able to help you.
